I have ordered things online from Home Depot before. Delivery has always been good. Recently I made an order for delivery on a Monday afternoon. That evening I decided I wanted something different. I got up early and cancelled the order by 7 a.m. on tuesday. The first time I ever tried to cancel an order. The order had not shipped yet. 2 hours later I get a text that my order just shipped. I called the number from the text to check and make sure that the order was cancelled. I talked to the representative and was put on hold. They came back and told me that they couldn't cancel the shipping. They had no specific reason. The order would have to go through place to place to place and be delivered. Then I would have to start the process to return it. The order says it isn't being delivered until Thursday and I tried to cancel it Tuesday morning before it even shipped but they claim they can't stop it anywhere along the way??? A lot of people say that home Depot cost a little bit more than its competitors, but honestly I would pay the difference in price just to get the excellent customer service I always receive when going there! According to my receipt they were supposed to deliver my item on march 15th and verify the delivery with me on the 14th. I didn't get a call until the 16th when the driver was 40 minutes away. Upon delivery, my freezer was damaged. I was then told by the driver I had to call to reschedule. I called, got disconnected. Called again, rang about 20 times before someone picked up and said "please hold". Called a 3rd time and could barely understand the call taker. Now it's rescheduled for over a week away. Crap service and nobody even checked the unit prior to delivery. I am not confident it will be delivered. read more

This location discriminated against my disabled mother and their delivery service refused to deliver and work around a medical stairlift. When we reached out to customer service, we were told that they only use one delivery contractor and we have no clear answer for how to move forward. There have been 2 separate occasions that I have gone to Home Depot where I needed help, asked for assistance, and no one was scheduled to work in that department and no one came when called over to help. Literally cutting wood and stirring up some paint should not be too difficult. Both times were on weekday mornings when there was EASILY more staff than customers. I try to keep an open mind and understand bad days of low staffing, but both occasions were just pure laziness. Ordered a new Bosch dishwasher and full installation. Installation crew took shortcuts and totally botched up my drainage. The lied about checking the water and reconfigured how it drains, completely ignoring the installation manual. This caused a water leak and ruined the new machine. Contacted "Home Depot Appliance Hot Line" but "Marissa" was rude and unsympathetic. According to her, all such issues must be resolved with the Installers that Home Depot Hired, not Home Depot itself. But either way, even up to the assistant manager, they were not willing to help me out with a bad battery in a new impact driver. Their solution was to send the driver and battery in to the repair shop which might cost me $35. But they weren't sure. They were willing to let me hold onto the good battery... and the bag they came in. Doesn't help me get my project done. Other than the nice lady who was in front of who was actually trying to help, no one was interested. Will not buy from this store again. Likely won't buy Ryobi again, either. read more

We ordered carpet based on a quote on 1/18/17. Followed up the next day because of no confirmation email. The guy actually deleted our quote and it needed to be redone. Carpet was supposed to be at installers on 24th, so we had a the 27th and the 30th to receive carpet as well -- three attempts. Got install date of 30th and back up date of 2/1 and let them know we needed to make these dates happen since we are flying in from California to complete this project. Went to the store on the 27th and was told it was not delivered but for sure on the 31st. This meant our install date would be the 1st. The delivery company decided not to deliver on their normal Tuesday but on Wednesday instead. One would think that they could have installed that afternoon since we were on the schedule, but "no" they said. We went to Home Depot and the manager said he/they have NO control over the delivery company. We changed our flights to stay a few more dates and offered $200 (and yes it was through HD to make it "legal") to installers to get us back on the books. We were told that they called every installer to offer the $200 but no one was interested. We had to change my flight AGAIN, and my husband had to go home for work -- meaning more trips to the airport, change of flight fees, and car rental fees. When the installers showed up on Monday the 6th, I inquired about the $200 we offered, and they let me know that they were never offered the money. So besides being late, they lied. We were offered $250 compensation for all of our trouble -- it really is the TIME that we cannot get back. I've been on the phone with corporate an the manager, KC, and was told that I'd get the credit on 2/23. 2/23 KC, the store manager, said he would process my credit that day. We had a good discussion on things he could do to prevent this from happening again. 3/7 left a message with Ryan for KC, who was out that day, saying that I do not see my $250 credit and please have him issue the credit and call me the next day. No call back 3/11 spoke with John who said that KC was out today and that I need to sign a waiver before getting my credit. I told him to print it out and I will come in this afternoon. I'm so upset right now, I might need to wait to go over there. Again, I am flying back and forth from California to Indiana and there is no care in the world for proper communication. This is absolutely ridiculous that I need to spend my time and energy on this when we have been good customers to your company. We ordered carpet from here with installation. Terrible customer service. First, we were told the worker who measures the space will contact us the day before to schedule a time. Never did. I called the store, and they had no idea what I was talking about, sat on hold for 5 minutes, and they disconnected me. Second, they couldn't even change my contact phone number I had in there. They said that's "not something they do on their end". What? Third, when we were having the carpet installed, they did not send enough carpet with the installers. Our entire living room was torn up. Apparently the measurements were wrong. Even though they sent enough padding... So I wasted my time having a worker come out there who didn't even measure right? Or did the people who actually order the carpet mess it up? No one wanted to admit a fault. Wish I knew the name of the manager my fiancé spoke with on the phone. She was unprofessional in the way she spoke about the situation. Terrible communication between staff and their installers/contractors. We recently ordered a granite vanity top for our bathroom. The price was $500 over another price that we were quoted elsewhere. My husband thought Home Depot would do a better job. Needless to say, our granite looks like someone threw blood at it and let it dry. We were given the option of driving 1 1/2 hours to go and view the stone. We are busy people and trusted that the granite would be quality. The installer told me I would receive something in the mail to explain care of the granite. I never received a thing. Nobody bothered to call and ask if the installation went well. Now we are stuck with this product that was way overpriced and is of very poor quality. We would never recommend Home Depot for counter or vanity tops. This was a very poor job!! read more

I ordered a door back in November of this past year from Home Depot in Valparaiso and it has been bad experience after bad experience. After the door arrived we were supposed to get a call from the contractor for installation within a couple of weeks. The call came and my husband said he would have to check with me on the best day for installation. Well, when he called back the contractor never responded. We called 3 times and sent one text over 2 weeks without a response. By this time it was 2 1/2 months after we ordered our door. We even called the store and they indicated that they were having a difficult time contacting the contractor as well and would call us back when they touched base with him. We never received a call. Of course upset we canceled our installation and requested refund for the services that were not received. We were told that it would take a couple of days for our credit card company to receive the refund. Ten days after "refunding the money" my credit card company still had not received anything. So I called yet again requesting the refund, hoping the person I spoke with was more competent. Well we discussed at length that I was unhappy and she assured me that I was speaking with the right person now. I was very clear I wanted the refund only for the installation. Come to find out a couple of days after this conversation our contractor that we hired went to pick the door up and it was no where to be found. Apparently the third person I spoke with returned the entire door. My contractor had to wait around an hour for them to find the door and I had to make the entire purchase all over again. So on top of finding another contractor to install the door, I had to repurchase the door and pay my contractor an extra hour to wait for home depot to locate our door. To add to the entire fiasco, I have been told my refunds are in the mail but have yet to physically see them so lets hope this is true. This has been an awful experience and I really question the competence of their staff. I will never be shopping at another Home Depot ever again. read more
