PLEASE AVOID WARRANTY SERVICE - this warranty service, like the old Geek Squad, is a terrible service. The people in store are ok, but the call centre agents are terrible. One tried to scam me into buying a firewall, falsely claiming I had malware/virus on my laptop (confirmed to be false after the call). Fast forward and I learn that they also did not process the cancellation request for 5 months and continued to charge my card. When I asked why it was not previously cancelled when requested, they stated that I had no "incident number" for the cancellation. Of course not, they never processed it so how could I get the number. This is a scam. You are better off getting help from a smaller local IT company or seller. AVOID at all costs. read more

This is an odd location. It looks like it's behind some weird institution type building. It's located on the second floor of the parkade beside a Marshalls. The store is very bright, clean and well merchandised. We came early on a holiday Monday As it was the last day of the Labour Day sale. Telus had a promotion on iPhone 7 and the only one left in Vancouver was here. In store the promo was actually better then what Telus had told us. We were told The iPhone 7 32g was on promotion. But in store it was the 128g that was free ( regular 1029$) so this was a great bonus ! We were helped at Mobility by the assistant manager. He was very friendly. The only thing that was a let down was that they didn't transfer all my data from my old phone. No worries I can do it myself. I doubt I will shop here as there are 2 Best Buy locations closer to me, but I would recommend it for those who live nearby, or for those like me who need a item that is out of stock elsewhere. read more

I heard about the new plaza complex that was opening on Marine Drive, and knowing there was a Best Buy that was closer to my work than the Cambie location, and also had parking made my day. I'm writing the review before the hard opening they are having this weekend, but from what I see, I know that if I want to waste a good lunch hour away from the office, you may find me at this store. For me, going into a brand new store is like opening some brand new electronics, where all you smell is that fresh untouched metal or plastic. Because this is such a new store, there seems to be stock of almost everything they carry, a rare sight indeed from the stores I usually go to. It's in a nice location as there is no other electronics big box stores on Marine Drive, unless you head eastbound past the Knight Street bridge and there is a lonely Visions there, and I don't have to cross into Richmond and go all the way to Lansdowne. The parking situation is great, as there is tons (tons, like everywhere) of parking, but getting up here is kind of weird. The place is located on the second level of this brand new plaza structure, and you have to drive all the way on the backside to go up a ramp and then make a turn again to get here, same thing for going out. It's the same setup like any other Best Buy, you walk in, to your left is the entertainment (DVD's, BD's, Video Games, Music) to your far right, the TV's, right down the middle the cell shop, right in the back, computers. One of the quieter BB locations in the city. Parking is plentiful in the giant lot upstairs. The inside of the store is similar to most other locations - most items are grouped logically, so you generally don't have to look too hard for what you're looking for. The tricky part here is that the level of customer service depends on who you happen to come across. I had to exchange the same item twice. The first time, the girl had to ask her supervisor how to punch it through, which added a few minutes onto the transaction. No problem there. But the second time, I happened to come across a manager who initially refused to do another exchange. Then she said I couldn't do these exchanges at a different store from my initial purchase (which is not what the manager of the 1st store told me). After some back and forth (and maybe another 10 minutes), she finally rang it through. These stores are losing big time to the likes of Amazon or Tiger Direct, and there's a reason. If you're the owner and are reading this, please give me some incentive to not buy online elsewhere. read more

I think there's a reason I keep forgetting that there's a Best Buy at this location, the staff isn't the greatest. I tend to go to the Cambie or Lansdowne locations. I actually live close to this Marine Drive location. I came here looking for a microwave and possibly a DSLR. I was in the store for about 15-20 minutes before someone came by to ask if I needed help. The greeter was friendly but after that, you will just see staff talking to one another. Just like the other reviews, the staff are busy with each other. Maybe it's the location and there isn't much customers. I finally got my microwave, but only after finding the box elsewhere from where the microwaves are. I probably looked like a lost puppy, wandering around as the online site said there were many boxes left of the microwave I wanted. Nice option if you work or live in the area, good parking (not pay like everywhere else),.. but poorly trained staff. On the my Ontario bike route commute which is convenient. One of my pet peeves is when I ask a store person a question and they give an answer I later discover to not be true. Instead of saying they don't know,.. they say something incorrect. In my case a guy pretended to go and ask someone if there were more filters for camera lenses that the one batch of 3 or 4 I found. They said "no,m this is all we have" - I then found an entire wall of them not 10 metres from where we were standing. Past Best Buy experiences were that it was better than Future Shop for sure (less smarmy), but this one left a bad taste in my mouth - they need to stop hiring children. The store itself was a decent layout (just like all other Best Buys). It was boxing week and I looked for 4 items that I knew were lost leaders and sure enough,.. nothing anything close to the bargains I was hoping for. read more

This is the best location because it's so far out that it never gets packed:) A Best Buy is a Best Buy. It's a chain, so they're all pretty much the same. However, there were so few people shopping that I was able to try out all the gadgets in the store without anyone hovering over me. They have good game selection, but they didn't have very many childrens' games when we were there. There aren't many 5 and 6 year-olds buying games I guess:) There's a Marshall's opening up beside them in Spring/Summer. The US' answer to Winners. Woot! read more

Great location, and if someone knows this place as well as I do, there are 2 entrances here: from Marine Drive going east is a simple turn right into and left up the ramp; or the secret is to go along Kent Ave to avoid the mayhem on Marine drive, and drive down Ontario. Went to Best buy with my new Samsung A70 to install a screen protector. Geek squad guy went hiding in the back room and took over 15 minutes to apply a cell phone screen protector. He could have done this job in front of me so I could have witness how slow and incompetent he is. When he finally finished up I notice my screen was all blurry and grainy. He said it's the glue and it will take 24 hours to disappear. I told him he should have told me before hand. After just 10 minutes the screen protector is already peeling off from the bottom right corner. An absolute dreadful job from an incompetent Geek agent. I had this done before with my old iPhone in a shopping mall kiosk in Richmond and the girl took less than one minute and did a masterful job with no blurry or grainy glue. read more

They had the best price, the best delivery/removal cost and the best priced warranty but what really made us buy was the awesome attitude of Hassan. Worst customer service. All I needed was a little help locating a cord for my TV. The girl at the front who hands out flyers was helpful in that she told me a floor rep can definitely help me out. She located one and asked him to help. He proceeded to dismissively acknowledge my presence then told me to "go wait over there" while he vaguely pointed in a direction. He continued to what looks like flirt with a coworker for around 10 minutes while I awkwardly stood in a random aisle. When he did come around, he barely listened to what I was explaining I needed (DVI to HDMI cord...simple enough?) and immediately he just said they don't carry that item and to look for it online somewhere. read more

So I took my computer in to get fixed at best buy. The hard rive failed and I needed it repaired. Took it in and the guy explained to me it would take 3 days. Ok sounds great. On the fourth day no updated so I tried calling the store. Called about 8 times in 5 hours, not a single answer. Now it 3 more days have passed. I ended up at the store and walk up to the geek squad deak and another person is ahead of me. So I wait while two other employees stand around talking about their personal life. Umm ok? 13 mins pass by and not a single "have you been helped yet". Finally the geek squad employee helps me. Tells me theyre not done yet and only 1 tech knows how to fix all one pcs and hes not in till tommorow. Uhhh great. Never going to bring my pc here ever again. Unfortunate for them I am planning to buy another computer soon and ill be doing it with another company. This stores service is horrible. read more

This complex is laid out all wrong and is seemingly geared just for car driving customers versus persons walking in. BB is located on the upper level across from Canadian tire. Conceivably if you were foot traffic with a heavy personal grocery cart you would have to traverse Canadian tire's elevator to get back to street level and downstairs (where Starbucks is nearby located). My boyfriend walked in and knew what we wanted but couldn't find anyone to help us so while in the store, I called it to get a sales person over. We asked about a tv stand (having already done our research) and was told the box was huge (and unmanageable-when asking about buying today and taking home vs having free shipping to my residence. Not only were the able to assist me, they were able to read me when I was in an aisle looking for something... They came up to approach me to ask if I needed any assistant! They re-directed me to a second spot in the store that also had these items, and was able to get everything that I needed! Very please with the fellow ! A week ago I went to the BestBuy Vancouver South West Marine Drive location at around 8pm. I already researched the TV I wanted so no help was necessary which was the 65'' Samsung QLED Tizen Smart TV $2299.99 and asked a customer service person that I would like to purchase it. The first CS person was helpful and brought the TV out for me to finalize the purchase. The supervisor (Name Tag: Jay) joined him and took my information for delivery. The supervisor stated that the earliest delivery would be on October 19th. The wait list was too long for me and I asked if he could do anything about it, but his attitude was wrong from the beginning and his answer came as a shock: "If you don't like it you can go somewhere else." I was shocked to hear an answer like that and I just left right away. There is no way I am going to pay $2299.99 + tax and be treated like that. It's hit and miss here: the store manager is always at the front door and tried her best to greet everyone, but when you actually need help, no one there will approach you and it's hard to find someone in the area to help. I waited and waited for 20+ minutes in the camera sections and for some reason at the time no staff were in visible site, until I pulled the security cable attached to a demo camera and triggered a alarm. I've already did some research online but the products on the floor was slightly different from online. Only 2/10 of the demo products worked and the "camera guy" aka the staff who knows all about camera (or should know) was just reading the online description. He tried to set up a boxed camera but because the battery was not charged, I wasn't able to test it out. The store is definitely not busy, so I would suggest for their staff to go thru and learn the test all of their products, and make sure the demos are working...otherwise there is no point to even have demos. Got half of the stuff I needed here. The staff are nice when you get a chance to find and talk to them. Sometimes I miss the Futureshop staff approach who were aggressively trying to make a sale for their commissions. read more

Terrible Service. I was in the store to do a Product Exchange Plan for my iPhone. The staff are literally learning as they go. They have no clue how to do their basic job. The manager is confrontational. The saddest part is that the service and terrible shopping experience is consistent across all Best Buy stores. I imagine the front line get little to no training by their corporate, retention rate of staff is abysmal too probably. --31 days for a tablet back cover-- Out of all the Best Buys that I frequent, I've had my utmost worst experience here (8133 Ontario St. Vancouver). I bought a tablet (demo/floor model) here and the sales/mobile employees did a pretty good job of getting the price down for the floor model. They ended up wrecking the back cover of the tablet by removing the security device. So I brought it back in to Geek Squad (since I have warranty, and the blue shirts said it would be covered), on July 1st. I drop it off, hoping to just leave the back cover and take the tablet home with me since I need it for work and personal use. But the GS manager, I believe his name was Chris, shorter latin fellow, said they can't only take the cover, and would need the whole tablet. I was also not allowed to leave it password locked to protect my privacy, and I was warned that if the repair depot didn't have access to the password, they would return it to the store - even though access to the tablet itself was irrelevant since I only needed the back cover replaced due to negligence during removal of security device. I comply, enter a faulty 1-2-3-4 password and left it in the GS hands and was quoted a turnaround of 10 days. Fast forward 10 days, still no callback for pickup. I give them the benefit of another couple days and I callback. The person on the phone, which I think was Chris, since he's the main person there most of the time, informed me that the order for my tablet had not even been processed, nor shipped to the depot. This is 14 days later. 4 days overdue of returning the tablet to me, and the process hasn't even started. I give it another 10 days, and during this time I was contacted by the depot twice, requesting that I pay for the repairs - costing ~$200+ - for a back cover?! I disregard it and I call GS - Chris answers. I am then informed that they're not going to charge me, and BB is paying for the repair. They are now just waiting for parts and I would get a call back soon. By now it's July 21st. I call back again for an update, since GS is not fond of keeping a customer in the loop after they've delayed the return of my tablet for 20+ days now. I am now informed that my tablet is ready and would be in store for pick up by either Friday the 24th or Monday the 27th. I thanked Chris for his efforts, but expressed my dissatisfaction with the customer service received, and I demanded compensation of any sort for the delay and time loss for me, the customer. He promised me an upgrade as soon as the tablet was in, and said he would email me the details. I thanked him again for his help. No call on the 24th. No call on the 27th. I'd given up at this point, and was prepared to talk to head office. I finally get a call in the evening of July 30th informing me my tablet is ready. I head over to the BB on July 31st, and headed straight to GS to retrieve my tablet. I spot Chris, but he avoids eye contact, and instead another associate helps me with my tablet. I then ask about my promised upgrade, and the associate had no idea, and Chris was within earshot and did not bother to speak up. I must also add that at this point, not a single conversation over the phone has involved an apology or sympathy of the delays. Nobody ever owned up to the mistake and delays. I was then ushered to customer service to do an upgrade, but of course they have no idea about the promised upgrade, and had to call Chris at GS. Communication happens between Al and Chris, and Kevin takes me to go pick out a tablet. We ended up downgrading from an S class Samsung tablet to an A class Samsung tablet. Kevin and Al were both very apologetic as well as sympathetic of the situation. They also worked swiftly to diffuse my growing irritation with the false offers and roadblocks at this particular BB on Marine and Ontario. We proceed to checkout, and now I'm being charged for the cost difference. I refused, and Al being the sympathetic associate he is, went to the GM and got approval to do a direct swap of my old tablet, for the new tablet, at no additional cost. This was the first positive experience in 31 days with this BB and GS. I believe disciplinary actions are in order, and a thorough investigation in how a simple back cover swap was made so complicated and delays that is 3x the advertised turnaround time. --Another 31 days and no sufficient answer-- Best Buy's GM has caught wind of this, and has done nothing. This is the worst Best Buy to get to. I dropped my best friend off while I went to the bldg next door to get a rear tail light. FYI the entrance is not on Marine drive like the sign misleads you to think. You have to go all the way around the building, to the parking lot and around again just to get into the entrance. For what? Nothing. It takes you 12 minutes to get to the store that by the time you're in you remember why you hated this in the first place. My best friend is a really good navigator and even he got lost...that says a lot. read more

Me and my son went to buy him a Nintendo switch. First of all it's too hard to find someone to help you, they are either busy talking to each other in groups. Or they totally ignore you while they walk past you. I don't see a point in them having so much staff, when no one asks you if you need any help... the first employee was ok, still he could work a bit more on his customer service skills... however, the second one at the cash register who helped us with the sale, was so rude, first of all he didn't greet us, then after hearing both me and son saying thank you numerous times, during and after the transaction, he did not even one single time had the courtesy to say thank you. Literally not even one time. After we were done my son thanked him and I did too, i stood there for literally a minute waiting for him to respond back, he just stood there just staring back...never have I ever had this type of experience at any store whatsoever, very bad experience, no customer service skills, I don't know whether he was just having a bad day, but that really doesn't give you a reason to thank your customers for their business, especially after we had a big purchase plus we were not even suggested a warranty for our product. Went to this location to buy a few blu-rays and found the ones I wanted. They were pricier than the Future Shop website but with their signs all over the place saying they match prices I didn't mind waiting in line. Finally got to the register then the idiot clerk said they could not match the price because it was Boxing Day. I asked her where in the store does it say "we will match or beat any addvertised price...except on Boxing Day"? She just said they couldn't do it. I then asked for a manager and explained the situation. The manager was very nice and accommodating. He did explain that they don't usually match prices on Boxing Day but will make an exception for me. He then brought me to the cellular dept where it was quieter and asked the clerk there to ring me through. Recently my mom purchased a present for my daughter that needs to be pre order and pick up store they said takes about 3 to 5 business day now it's been 2 weeks. Convenient location for people that need electronics living by the area never get crowded However, few staffs down there are outright poor in terms of service and attitude, they act like as if their customers are idiots and know nothing, while themselves are no better either. One time, one of the staffs insulted and accused me of breaking their internet because on certain laptops, their internet is not working. Tried to troubleshoot and they thought I was damaging their computers. Feels that either you buy stuff or get out. Unless they get someone with at least decent knowledge of their department and a decent attitude, I won't come back to this location and rather head over to Richmond or the one down by Broadway. I wish there was a zero-star option. I picked up the box of a hard drive I wanted to purchase. The box was empty with a label that read "Take this box to the Geek Squad counter to pick up product." At the counter there were two very busy Geek Squad employees helping customers with their computer issues. I waited patiently while Best Buy staff wandered around with nothing to do, assuming I was waiting to talk to a Geek Squad technician. 10 minutes later GS guy #1 finishes up with his customer and walks away with them while I continue to wait. Best Buy staff are still milling around with nothing to do and GS guy #2 is still busy with his customer. Another 5 minutes goes by and GS guy #1 returns, asking me if I've been helped. "I just want to buy this", I say, pointing to the empty box on the counter. The GS guy takes the box and asks a Best Buy employee to get the product while he proceeds to some other task. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "gee, I could have just taken this box to one of the many bored Best Buy clerks to retrieve this for me, instead of going to the busy Geek Squad desk, like the label on the box told me to do". By now, I'm pissed. Then, a Best Buy manager-type comes by and asked if I've been helped. Irritated, I reply "I've been waiting almost 20 minutes to buy a hard drive". She asks which one I want and then the GS guy chimes in, saying that someone is getting it for me. She walks away. The Best Buy clerk finally returns with my hard drive and apologizes for taking so long. Even though it took him only 5 minutes to get the hard drive, he didn't realize that I had already waited 20 minutes in total. I asked him why it was necessary for me to go to the Geek Squad counter to get my hard drive and he explained that there has been a lot of theft so they keep them in the back. "Fair enough", I say. But I added that sending customers to the understaffed Geek Squad counter to get the theft-prone items doesn't make any sense when they could simply flag down one of the many Best Buy clerks. I stood in line for a couple seconds and was cashed out by Monica. Once again was not greeted - why aren't you guys happy? I only shop at this location because a friend works here. I came in to buy some cell phone accessories. The guy helping me was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and told me their policies. When I went to pay, a young girl told me different policies from what I was told by the guy. Confused, I asked for clarification. My friend walks by and I ask him. Turns out, the girl did not know what she was talking about. Instead of admitting her lack of knowledge, she tells me in a rude way that if I only had the patience to wait for her to check with the manager she would have given me the correct answer. It's all good. I left and went home. I came back later to buy more items and was surprised to be approached aggressively by multiple employees including the store manager. My friend gave me a heads up that the young girl I dealt with earlier complained about me after I left and told the entire store so now apparently I am marked to be harassed.
