Customer service didn't really know to much regarding products. When ordering products it's best just to hop on over to another tech store. Ordering is always delayed if package shows at all. And when trying to figure out a solution, they slam the door in you face. Truly a grotesque place to be in and all that just to have no inventory. Its on the parkway drive another 2 minutes for a better store not just for my sake but for yours. Geek Squad ? More Like the WEAK Squad. Slowest Unprofessional Service Ever. Took Them 5 Days to fix an iPhone screen.

Came here to make a return. Learned about the actual return policy, which is 15 days. Who knew? Not me. I assumed somewhere from 30-60 days. I got a store credit, the guy was nice to me and about the fact I was into day 40 or so already. The door greater here was very nice, both going in and coming out. All in all, it was an easy transaction in a nice clean store. No complaints. Easy parking. read more

Very grateful to Jon and the manager, Christina, at Geek Squad for figuring out my hard drive problems. I upgraded to a 1 terabyte hard drive and had trouble backing it up before hand. What could go wrong? Well, it turns out I have BitLocker and it seized up my old hard drive and required a key with three dozen numbers to get it open. 10 years of data being held hostage! Fortunately, the Geek Squad team showed me how to get a retrieval key and we're able to salvage all my old data. Awesome! read more

I went to Best Buy to buy myself a new iMac. I hovered under the big APPLE sign for about 5 minutes looking at the specs of the only two iMacs they apparently sell. With no one stopping by to say, "Can I help you?" I finally went up to the front counter where three employees seemed to be having a private conversation. I asked somewhat loudly, "Can I get some help in the Apple department?" At first, none of them even budged, then finally one guy said I'll get someone for you. I said, "Thank you." I waited over by the Apple sign this time for at least ten minutes and when no one appeared to help me I again approached the front desk, this time saying, "Does anyone want to sell me an iMac?" I got no response. It was like I just didn't exist and at that point, I said loudly, "I guess no one wants to sell me an iMac, and then repeated it, and no one acknowledged my presence not even the over-weight female employee with dark hair who was walking right past me as I said it. I walked out and that will be the last time I ever go to that "shithole" of a store. read more

This store has poor customer service. I was trying to contact the store and no one had answered, after 15 minutes I hung up. There have been multiple time when I have been in the store waiting for a worker to assist me, standing around for about 15-20 every time. Today I am in the store writing this while 3 employees are at the front desk having a conversation, even after I had asked for assistants. This is the only electronic store in my area, if there was another I would go there. Along with that, I do plenty of research before I make an expensive electronic purchase, and I have had employees tell me false information about products that I know for a fact is incorrect. read more

What can i say, i was in Vestal NY from California on vaca and was in Best Buy looking for PC parts. I was stumped and a nice gentlemen by the name of Carlos with glasses came up to me asking if i needed any help. Usually I'm not a people person like that but this dude! Made me feel welcome didn't push any products on me only recommendations. Dude was straight awesome end of the day he helped me choose the best rad for my pc build. He was awesome friendly and down to earth I had a rough day but he helped me end it on a great note. This is legit most patient and nicest worker hands down. So knowledgeable. read more

So once again I Go to this Best Buy and the door greeter is the same as always, and ONCE again he's as rude as they get. It's a wonder how they still do business with him greeting people at the door. He's short with customers (over heard him talking to a few the last few times there) he's rude and could careless if people are satisfied or have a pleasant shopping experience. beware,beware,beware. save yourself from the nightmare. best buy is litterly frauding people out of their hard earned, hard to come by money. they sell defective products, worthless warranties and charge a restocking fee when you return the defective product. they reach for every penny knowing your getting ripped off. they have a best buy charge card that you pay finance and interest fees on to buy their defective products. you still have to pay those fees even if you return the defective products. this is known as two violations so far. one is unfair,dishonest business practices and the other is rico law violations. with over 7000 complaints on the vestal store alone, this place needs to be shut down. read more

Just tried calling the store to ask about a few products. After going through the incredibly vague automatic messaging portion I was told to (select the proper department and number with that department) when I was never given a list of numbers or departments. Then I was finally put on hold for a csr, after waiting a good 10 minutes I finally got ahold of a csr. I asked a question, he answered then I asked a second quick question, he answered (we have been on the phone with eachother for maybe 25 seconds at this point) I had a couple more questions but he cut me off and said "goodbye". I tried to cut him off saying "I have more questions!?" He proceeded to ignore me and hang up... WHAT EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I went to return a type c to HDMI cable, because it wasn't compatible with my device. It had only been sixteen days. And to my amazment best buy has a return scam going on that only allows you a return beond fourteen days if and I quote if you pay for a best buy plus membership. Otherwise your only getting store credit. Don't buy here, people have live's and don't have time to immediately try products out and rush back to a store all within 14 days if the product doesn't work. read more

Just tried to buy a Fitbit Versa 3 in the store . Took a few minutes to find someone to help me but then when I did he directed me right to them ..okay good right? But then he needed to "go get" an invue key which took several minutes??? He comes out with it and it doesn't work?!? explained they are having trouble with them not charging ...meanwhile another couple now waiting to buy a watch from same case too...after quite the wait while they tried to charge key to no avail they basically say well sorry but we can't sell these to you right now. Very poor customer service. Prepare to be greeted by an unfriendly greeter who really doesn't make you feel like you belong in the store. I get it that it's during a pandemic but make a customer feel at least slightly welcome. I waited 35 minutes where I was told to wait and nobody ever helped me. So I left and won't be back. They lost $1300 sale (was running credit card) online chat people to stupid to understand or care. I had no voice due to sickness. So working via chat to buy new laptop. First chat guy was great, shopped, found me what i wanted. Went to run credit card. Credit card denied for security check (unusual purchase, i had to approve) I approved, come back but lost chat. Go back in to chat. * Problem #1 could not connect me with original chat person (2 minutes later) * wanted to start from scratch?? Put me to supervisor. SAME THING, ZERO HELP...Put in a process to fix this. This day and age should be able to connect me back with first person. You guys will be chapter 5 within a year or 2. You see a company with broken processes that create lost revenue, you know there are many more just like this. Help desk, zero, support, zero, sales, zero. Nobody care cost them sale. Good companies have to have buy in from Employees or they won't be around long. Poor training, poor process, poor. read more

As an Elite Plus Member, I must say, the geek squad in this store needs an education in customer service. Repeat customers are a rare thing in the current retail environment, and if anything customer service has to be exceptional, not exceptionally bad. I just went in there today, and very few customers at geek squad desk....I was asked if we had an appointment (before anything else) we are an appointment only service. (Really? And you call that service???). We came in because our special needs son uses his iPad as a communication device, somehow at his residence, it got locked up, and I couldn't open it so he could talk..... unfortunately, no one ASKED WHY I WAS THERE!!! Did I want an appointment for 6 pm to have someone address my issue ( they still didn't ask what it was). In my mind, I'm going NO BOZO, we just drove an hour to get here with a kid that doesn't talk...I'm going to hang around for 6 hour??? Really??? Ok. NO! I've been to many Best Buy's, and used the geek squad before and I've never needed an appointment, they've fixed the issue, BUT NOT HERE....Best Buy Fox this store it sucks! read more

I use this Best Buy for my business ( http://branding-udma.com ) I need a lot of electronic devices especially computers, printers, power bars, etc... The customer's service is very poor. They have a grumpy greeter and that is the first person you meet when you come to the store. No smile, no "How are you or welcome to the store" Why is he even there? Then if you need help in the store expect to wait 20 minutes or more. You see staff all over not doing a whole lot but they still make you wait. Then expect rudeness if you can't explain something to their satisfaction. Some will even just walk away from you if they can't help you immediately. So rude. Then the store itself is a mess. Boxes and merchandise all over the floor. It's hard to manoeuvre around the things on the floor. And there is plenty of space on the shelves to put the stuff but there it sits on the floor. The checkout staff are also rude and heaven forbid you have a question. They tell you to hurry up, they tell you to hurry and get your stuff off the counter for the next person. Hardly any smiles from anyone in the store. They can be this way because they are one of the few electronic stores in the area. They have a monopoly and we are stuck with an awful store and awful customers service. read more

The tricity area is pretty limited when it comes to stores, so we used to go to this Best Buy when we were in the market for electronics -- tablets, headphones, TV accessories, etc. About 50% of the time when we found something we liked we were told by the salesperson, "We don't have this in stock but if you go online you can order it ..." As if the massive square footage of the store was not already wasteful enough. This only encouraged us to NOT go to the actual store. Also, the employees have always been pretty friendly, but not always very knowledgeable. One of the core problems is that Best Buy sells too many different types of merchandise in a really space-inefficient way. There are always so many employees running around, yet it's sometimes difficult to get service and they often do not know much about a large proportion of the inventory. For example, it always surprises me to see washers and dryers on the sales floor in a Best Buy. The employee I talked to knew next to nothing about washers and dryers. I asked very early on in the conversation whether they shipped to a specific zip code, as it was a fairly rural location. He assured me that they ship all over the country, etc, etc. 30 minutes later having picked out a washer and dryer set, I asked him to check on the shipping just to be sure. He looked at me momentarily like it was a very silly question and then looked it up on the computer ... and lo and behold Best Buy did not ship to the location. He could have wasted 5 minutes of my time instead of 30 minutes just by looking up the zip code for shipping like I had asked in the beginning. Overall, it's an okay Best Buy. If you want to look at a piece of electronics in person or just browse to see what's available it's not a bad place to go. Do some research on your own before going, be prepared for them not to have it in stock, and don't expect the employees to know much about what you are looking for. read more

Went to the store for a return that was ordered in the store and ended up being. Both clerical in Return dept were leaned back on counter on their cell phones - looked at each other like "who's drawing the short straw" the staffer who waited on me said barely a word, never made eye contact or smiled. He was rude and dismissive and exactly fit the stereotypical returns clerk. That was all after I ran the gauntlet of the door czar and his cronies that were too busy talking to address me but made me wait for a stamp on my returned item. It gets s 1 only because it is the last remaining major electronic store in the area. Over the years there have been many fustrations and disappointments. Recently i tried to buy and have installed a remote car starter. The technician was rude and I had to settle for an instalation date that was over a month away. When the time arrived, I found that they had got the date wrong and 'I' had **missed** the appointment. When I showed them their confirmation/reminder email they still held that, regardless of what they said in the email, I had made the mistake and I would now have to wait another month to get the starter installed. I now intend to return the starter but I expect to get hasseled because I probably have exceeded their return period. read more

Had to get a new phone, went to the cell service station, in the store and was helped by a guy named "connor" as he wasn't wearing a name tag. Helped me find a great phone. Had honest, knowledgable advice, and made me feel confident about such an important purchase. He took the time to listen to my questions, made sure that I understood the terms of the agreement, and even helped me put on the screen protector. After having a phenomenal experience with connor, I needed to exchange a pair of headphones that no longer held a charge. The people at customer service were waiting to help me with a smile, helped me find the product in the store, as it was misplaced. Cashed me out, helped me renewed my warranty on the headphones and sent me on my way. I feel bad that I couldn't remember the name of the young woman who helped me at customer service. But she had hair in the shade of red, and like connor, took the time to answer every question I had. This is my first review of the store, but i have had nothing but spectacularly pleasant visits to this store. Keep up the good service best buy crew! read more

Brought in a power supply for their Geek Squad service to test. I handed it to the service associate, and he turned it over in his hands like it was some kind of alien device. After plugging it in to the wall outlet and turning it on, he was confused by the fact that it didn't work (they had failed to connect the power supply's 24 pin connector, which is required for any power supply to work in any PC). What appeared to be the lead associate then came over, took one look at the power supply, and said "We can't test that here." Their lack of professional knowledge, especially in a store which purports itself to hire experts, is startling and deeply disturbing. It would appear that the rumors are true - to get on Geek Squad, it's not what you know, but who you blow. read more

This is not only the worst Best Buy I've ever shopped in; it's my least favorite store in the area. Customer service has reached new lows. I tried to purchase a fitness watch today but left in frustration. The sales associate got two or three question wrong right off the bat so I knew it would be a troubling experience. When he couldn't help like he should have been able to he just walked away, all the while knowing I was far from satisfied. He didn't offer to get anyone else to help, didn't check with a manager...he just gave up and walked away. It's shocking this is what Best Buy finds acceptable. The store is dirty. There are packages on the floor that should be on shelves and I watched an associate walk right past things that clearly needed immediate attention. The clear focus of this store is cell phones. If that's not what you are there for, good luck getting help. Computers for example, another hot spot, is ALWAYS under staffed. I would give zero stars if possible. I doubt this store will be here for the long term; I heard other customers grumbling on their way to their car. Almost everyone I know has had a negative experience at this store. I much prefer giving local stores business than buying online but I'm afraid next time I think I need Best Buy, I'll just use Amazon. read more

If you want to get a remote start or security system installed, DO NOT go here to have it done unless you want the worst installation ever from incompetent installers. I have been dealing with an absolutely nightmare of an installation in my nearly brand new truck. My truck has been to Best Buy for 3 entire days and now they are refusing to work on it anymore even though they offer a lifetime warranty on installs. They even brought down their champion from the Rochester, NY store and even he could not get it working correctly. I have a list of 16 problems. I repeat, sixteen problems. The list includes things such as the 2 way remote not responding, the antenna being mounted halfway up my windshield right in my view, a wire being ran around my rear suspension and brake line of the truck, the lights and horn not being hooked up to the system like they are suppose to be. The add-ons that I had them install do not work correctly. A lot of the list has been resolved but would have been left incorrect if I didn't make them correct it. I am still experiencing several problems that they are refusing to fix. read more

Bought a computer from Best Buy in a rush. Did not have time to wait for direct order from Dell..... (Big Mistake!!!!!) I walked in, told the ever so quick to help you sales person what my needs were. Explained that I have purchased nothing but laptops for the past 15 years and needed a PC that would do.... ( and explained what I was going to do ). Knowing I had nothing to start she sold me a pc... Stupid me thought she realized I had nothing to start and needed everything....So Stupid Me trusted her...When I got my purchase home it was the tower, a mouse and a keyboard nothing more. Made the trip back to Best Buy ( 40 miles ) to purchase a monitor. New sales person this time, all sorry that I got so little help, sold me a monitor with no speakers....would have let me out of the store with no surge protector but did hook me up with a power booster. Got that all home and set up. Power Booster did not work, had to take it back. Now I was ready to go...no speakers...finished up what I needed on my own on Amazon. Now I am ready to go. Office 365 took three attempts to download...my Bluetooth Multi Printer which worked just fine with my laptop and smart phone (without the install disc) took 5 uninstall and reinstalls to get it to work (with disc)... still kicks out other devices in the network and goes missing on a daily basis. Called for outside help from a pro who tells me something must be wrong with the PC. Call this Best Buy, explain everything... Instead of help I get attitude!!!!! Ask about return, told 15 days....I am at day 17.... Start to ask if Dell would back up their product and this women thinks she knows what I am about to say and stops me mid question with what I feel, was a nasty response... I inform her that was not my question.... She remains short with me as I ask the question. She backs down with the nasty attitude voice and says since I am close to the 15 days, bring it in asap and the Geek Squad will take a look at it. If it is a bad PC they can maybe work on an exchange or store credit. Keep in mind I am 40 miles away and have been there (and on Amazon) 3 times to complete a system I could have ordered straight from Dell and had up and running with phone support if needed....again STUPID ME!!! It was a rush. Got a job working from home and needed it ASAP!!....Bottom Line and my reason for this rant....Best Buy Vestal is the worst!!!! Snot nosed, unskilled, arrogant sales and no support, (unless you want to drive 80 miles round trip) and I won't even start on the 15 day return issue!!!!!! New employer has been understanding since I explained when they offered the job that all I had was a laptop, but much like my patience, their patience is also running short. read more
