I *DO NOT* recommend best care kennels! Smiley & Hope have gone there for years with doggy daycare when they were younger & staying at the kennel whenever I go out of town.
- MIXED UP their belongings AND LET OTHER DOGS STAY ON SMILEYS & HOPES BEDS AND PISS ALL OVER THEM
- Told me "its not just common sense to keep things in order same with food medications"
- RUDE RESPONSES such as "got to go to work I don't have time for stupidity"
- LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Deflection/ blaming
What happened:
This past trip that I went on in December my dogs stayed at best care kennels. When I picked them up smiley & Hope both had a gross dirty residue on their fur. I asked for smileys & hopes bed back and the owner was very hesitant to give me their dog bed back.. I persisted and he said okay let me go find it for you. He brings the bed out and it was grimy. I got a friend to load it for me while I put the dogs in the vehicle. When we got home we unloaded everything and I got the dogs settled. The next day I was unpacking and trying to figure out where that nasty smell was. I realized it was the dog bed and when I picked it up and was taking the cover off to wash it, the smell hit my nose harder and it reeked of piss. I had to throw it out because it had this rancid smell of piss. (CONTEXT: SMILEY & HOPE DO NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM ON THEIR BELONGINGS & THE OWNER TOLD ME THEY HAD NO ACCIDENTS). So, after I threw the bed out, washed the clothes I was wearing that the bed touched & showered (it smelt that bad) I finished unpacking. The next day (2 days after their stay) as soon as I got a chance, I sent a message to Best Care kennels to let them know about the situation and that I was disappointed & angry after spending that much to board them that I had to throw out their dog bed, that they requested I provide. (In the past I've thrown out a ton of toys that came back from best care kennels smelling like piss but the toys are less expensive so I just toss them). I brought up my concern cause I am not okay with having to buy a new Large/ XL dog bed for every kennel stay for the future (as these are expensive $80- $100+) I was met with a complete lack of respect, rudeness, zero customer service 'skills', blame, deflection & a complete lack of accountability. I was trying to resolve these issues and I am glad that it took place over Instagram messenger so I can share some of the things this "business" said. I will attach screenshots. They argued with me for a couple of hours before even 'apologizing' by saying "we are sorry you feel that way". As of today, they have now replaced the beds with thin cheap ones. I am happy they replaced the beds but I still never received a proper apology and will NOT be bringing my dogs back there due to:
- their rudeness
- lack of accountability
- lack of being organized and stating that it's not common sense for their business to be keeping track of dogs belongings/ food / medications etc THAT IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING AS MY DOGS HAVE ALLERGIES AND CAN NOT HAVE THEIR FOOD BEING MIXED UP. I also feel concerned for any dog that is on medications that stays at best care as it's "not common sense to keep track of". read more
