Stopped by around 6:15am one morning to pick up donuts for some coworkers and I think it may have been an off day for them. There weren't many donuts in the case and they had been open already for an hour. There were only old fashioned donuts and maybe two dozen cake donuts in the case along with their breakfast croissants and kolaches. The owner and his wife were incredibly nice and working hard to make/fry donuts for people coming in and out. My order was fairly large (4 dozen-- 2 dozen glazed and 2 dozen mixed) so I didn't mind waiting. They had to fry and then ice the donuts while it was hot, so I know the icing was more melted than usual. I still really appreciated how hard they worked to get everything out and ready. Everyone at work said the donuts tasted great! Will certainly come here again in the future and give them a heads up the day before so they can have some time to prepare it for the day of! read more

We just bought a home in Livingston so not familiar with restaurants yet. We love donuts and hot fresh Shipley's have always been our favorite. I did a search for "donuts near me" on our map app - Best Donuts was the first to come up & had many 5 star reviews. I found them on FB & sent a message asking if they delivered. The phone was answered right away & the gentleman that answered was very polite & friendly. He lmk that they do not deliver but they have an agreement with Door Dash - I went on DD & ordered about 2 dozen donuts & a caramel Vietnamese coffee. I had a cinnamon sugar donut & loved it! Very fresh & delicious. A few hours later my husband came & was asking where the donuts came from. We always disagree on donuts. He's from Florida so is a Krispy Kreme kid, I grew up on Shipley's so we always debate on where to get donuts when we're in Houston. He loved the Best Donuts & wanted to go to the restaurant & buy a few more dozen for the holiday weekend. I talked him in to waiting til tomorrow so we can have fresh donuts again but am so pleased to find a donut shop that we both love! Classic donuts with really friendly owners. Whenever we are craving a treat, this is the place to go. They offer classic donut flavors, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast tacos. Their donuts are soft, fluffy, and nostalgic. When I stop by with the kiddo, the owner always throws in a few extra donut holes. They also have lots of different colored frosting and sprinkles to choose from. My go to is either a boston cream or powdered donut. Their breakfast sandwiches and kolaches are hearty. My 2 year old knows this place out of all the donut shops we go to. I guess that's one way how you know it's good! He says "Best Donut"! To me, freshly made donuts taste about the same anywhere (except for Krispy Kreme, Round Rock Donuts, and gourmet donut shops). What stands out for this place is the customer service. The people behind the counter are always so kind and friendly. Sometimes a simple smile (and a few extra donut holes... jk) can affect everything. The selection is decent for a small establishment. They have regular frosting, powdered, coated, sprinkled, chocolate, filled, etc. nothing over the top like Voodoo, but they have all your delicious basics. Interior is a bit drab, but I wouldn't expect more from a small family business trying to make it. It gives it a special home feel. This is indeed the BEST DONUT store! They have the best donuts and sandwiches I have ever tried. It is a small donut shop but there is a good variety of donuts, kolaches, and sandwiches. The donuts are not overly sweet, and they do not have the factory taste. The donut holes are so good. They are small so I will just pop one after another into my mouth. A dozen is gone within 5mins. Their new pastry with spinach and cheese is so delicious. One is not enough. The sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich is super good too. They have the best donuts and sandwiches I have ever tried. Business owner is very friendly. She always greets the customers when they enter the store. I always feel welcomed when I am in the store. I love this place! It is my go to for donuts now! So convenient and a neighborhood gem. Sorry, not sorry Shipley's, Best gets all my business now. Ms Hannah and her husband are so awesome. I feel like Norm from Cheers every time I drop in, they always remember me by name. For those times I take a break they are so welcoming when they see me again and always greet me with a smile and a "where have you been?" I haven't been disappointed in anything I have tried, especially their recommended iced blueberry cake donut. My fav! I usually am not a fan of cake donuts, but this one changed my mind and only this one. The plain glazed donuts are also a favorite, so light, so fluffy, so tasty, so mmmm. Not at all greasy like some other places. If you get a chance, also try their spinach and feta pastry or their sausage/cheese kolaches the roll is light, not heavy or bready. Ok. I'm very surprised I haven't made a review on this AMAZING place, because I go here almost every Saturday. They are my favorite small business of all time. Their donuts are the only donuts I've had that don't make my stomach hurt. Also, their chocolate icing is SO much more flavorful than Shipleys and Dunkin. They recognize us and greet us by name every time we enter. They remember my mom and dad's orders when they occasionally come back in, even though they haven't come regularly in YEARS. The prices are fairly reasonable! Roughly $1 for each donut and about $12 for a dozen. When I ordered a dozen, the older man threw in a handful of donut holes as well! Their donuts aren't too sweet compared to Shipley's or Krispy Kreme. I will warn y'all that card payments theres a minimum of $4. This is a great local joint overall! Love this place! Super sweet owners, great donuts and kolaches. Try to go early because they will usually sell out of the good stuff. Interior is what you'd expect from a small mom and pop place which adds to the charm. Almost always a few regulars hanging out eating.
