I used to love this gym, but the way they have treated me this past month is TERRIBLE. They have a creepy older trainer who touches girls, but no one does nothing about it but get rid of members who report it instead of the employee. They cancelled my membership out of no where with no reasoning when I asked why. There is so much drama with the employees there it is such a mess it's embarrassing. I'll start with the good: The gym is kept clean and the equipment/machines are new and in relatively good condition. The bad: All over the gym, are the rules. They are on pamphlets, tables, and even metal tablets attached to the walls. NONE of these rules are enforced AT ALL. I've personally witnessed gym personnel breaking the rules on a daily bases. "CLUB RULES" 1. No gym bags on weight room floors. 2. Wipe down all equipment. 3. Rack all weights when finished. 4. Proper gym attire must be worn (no jeans, work boots, sandals, etc.) 5. No dropping weights. 6. No Chalk. 7. No loud abusive language. 8. Limit cell phone use. 9. No open containers on gym floor. 1. There are constantly gym bags all over the gym floor and around the cardio machines. The gym is WAY over crowded and the bags are downright dangerous - This is just a law suit waiting to happen. 2. Wiping down the machines - Some courteous people will actually wipe their sweat off the machines after use, the majority of people there do not. 3. Rack all weights - this one is the biggest joke of all the rules. Not only do people not rerack their weights, but the personal trainers who work there are the #1 offenders. I've actually walked up to them and requested they rerack the Six 45 lb plates left on the hack-squat and gotten a full attitude for doing so. 4. Second biggest joke on the list, 50% of people who work out there are wearing jeans, work boots, PJ's, or sandals in the summer time. 5. Dropping weights - Ha, ha, What better way to seem like a tough guy than to deadlift 315lbs for one rep and then slam the weights on the ground! If they enforced this rule, they would have 75% of their membership GONE! 6. You will find chalk on every Olympic bar in the gym. 7. Loud and abusive language - There is a contingent of local college students who regular the gym, every word out of their mouths is a profane expletive of another female gym member who is currently doing squats and what they would do to them. 8. Cell phone use - Third biggest joke on the list. Constant cell phone use, filming themselves, secretly filming others, especially said female squat enthusiast. sitting on gym equipment txting while numerous people are waiting for the machine, filming in the locker rooms, non-stop cell phone use. 9. You will find containers all over the gym, on the floor, on machines, in the locker rooms - everywhere. Bottom line - Not only are the "Club Rules" not enforced, they are actively and disobeyed by the staff. The Best Fitness, Danvers MA location is EXTREMEMLY over crowded. The franchise owners know this. I have been there for over two years and for two years, I have been actively inquiring to the owners, what they plan on doing about it, since it seems like there is a constant stream of new members. For two years they have been telling me that they are aware of the problem and will be starting an expansion project that summer, fall, winter, spring, summer, etc.... I joined this gym with 12 of our friends after our old gym closed down. We are all very frustrated with the lack of basic curtesy from the members, and mostly the staff blatantly not enforcing the rules posted all over the entire gym. Waiting for gym equipment for 30 minutes while someone sits on it using their phone is beyond ridiculous. The over crowing is to a dangerous point, and if the expansion doesn't start this spring, all of us will be leaving and going to one of the many other gyms in the area. At least that will free up some room for people to safely work out. read more

The entire gym is spotless and that is important to me!! I love the Forever Fit classes!! These classes combine cardio and weight training to give you exactly what you need. Jan Mallard as the instructor is knowledgeable and she makes the class a fun place to be!!! I am as fit in my 70's as I was in my 20's and it is because of this class!!! Worst gym experience in my entire life. The gym is over staffed with rude personal trainers who hog the whole gym, one even rudely made me move whilst i was in the stretching area FIRST stretching out of the way so their client could do sled pushes across the entire area..maybe make a separate area for personal training or not do sled pushes on the only stretching area of the entire gym?? I Also am experiencing the nightmare cancellation issues that people have already complained about so no need to go anymore in depth there. Cancellation policy is abhorrent. I specifically asked before joining knowing I might move- "no issues!" They said- a year later tryiing to cancel membership for a yeaar+ long roadtrip - need proof of residency 25 miles away or pay them $5 a month until your back in the area. The site says 7 day free trial. Came into this gym wanting to try it out because my usual gym is closed for the day for maintenance. Very clean gym and great equipment. I was really thinking about signing up for this gym after my trial but after my interaction with the owner of this gym. I am staying away. After my training session, the owner told me if i want to come back, it will be $20 per day. basically telling me that i can't try the gym out for 7 days. They are very pushy with their sales here and wanted be to sign up right away. So because of the lack and dishonesty staffs at this gym. I will not be signing up. read more

The gym is fine but I contacted them 3 times to cancel, got different answers everytime and I was changed for a full year after requesting to cancel. Every time I called and asked why I was being charged they said they had no record of me canceling when I went in TWICE to do so. When I finally canceled they said I was still responsible for 30 days to pay still. I moved over an hour away and they said the only way to cancel was to mail in a letter or come in. It took a few tried but they finally gave me a phone number to cancel (-888-827-9262). I hear its because if you go in they want to be able to persuade you to keep your membership so they make it impossible to cancel. Absolute scam. read more

I mailed them a formal again canceling my membership of which I'm again informed it was not received. I moved out of that area over 2 years ago and have continuously been charged. Super clean gym and the sauna is always set to an effective range. 95% of the gyms around the north shore are dirty, disorganized, and the saunas are not hot at all. Best Fitness Danvers is worth it. The staff is nice, so nice that they've helped me progress on my fitness goals. read more

Do NOT join his gym. This gym DOES NOT care about their members. They have shared little to no information with members about their membership changes due to the COVID pandemic. Instead of helping their members and sending out helpful information about the gyms new protocols, they expect their members to do all of the legwork to get information. Best Fitness Danvers is unsympathetic to their customers. I was entered in a 2 year contract when covid-19 hit. My wife was left with no work, I was reduced to 50% of my schedule. I called Best and the owner Joey said to come down to opt out of my contract. He shook my hand and said only 1 partial payment would be collected. Now I still owe $70 and they wont release me. I went to cancel my membership as I moved abruptly back to NY over health concerns I spoke to someone back in February about canceling my membership and was lead to believe it was taken cared of. Then I got a charged today from the gym, I called today and was told that there was no record of me wanting to end my membership. I forwarded over the conversation back in February and then did not hear from who I was speaking to, called again and played phone tag. Then spoke to someone new and was now told it needs to be mailed which was never told to me back in February or this morning when I called. They barely answer back my emails either. As I can see I'm not the only one who has had this problem. Stay away from this place bunch of unprofessional people. I recently moved to Beverly And took my time to find a gym I came across this one walking in the mall & as soon as I walked in the the staff was amazing. This gym is super clean and has everything that someone who consistently works out needs. Regarding cancellation: Signing up was easy & they did not volunteer cancelation options however I never asked. I convinced my husband to sign...again easy sign up. My husband asked me to cancel me 2 months later. I called and was clearly explained the cancelation options. I was proved with an 800 number and it was super simple send us a copy of a lease or bill of where you moved too verify there is not one within 25 miles or pay a fee of not much. Point is ask questions prior to signing up, I did not but then again I did not have any issues cancelling. The gym is amazing and should not get shitted on because of cancellation rules or fees. I'm a professional athlete and circus performer, I step by this gym while visiting the mall because looks awesome, the person at the front desk suggested to do the free trial so I contacted joe to completed it. But a day after and when they find out I was working on Big Apple Circus they refuse to offer me the 14 days free trial even if I would pay for an extra month. I have nothing but great things to say about this fitness center. From joining almost a year ago, I have encountered nothing but professionalism and motivation from the workers here. If you like a gym that is not cramped or packed, I definitely suggest you get a membership here. There are two individuals I have to brag on that works at this location. Kyle M., is tremendous!!! From motivating you as soon as you walk in the door with that big smile on his face, to even engaging in a more personal conversation. Everyone needs a Kyle in their lives like him. Very fortunate to meet an individual who truly cares for the client! The other person I only met once but from conversation, professionalism, and hunger for success, I'm sure he will be the right guy to engage with. Nate S., is another awesome professional here. Might be young but definitely, knows what he's talking about. I joined Best Fitness at this location a little over a year and a half ago, when they had first opened and I have to say it really is such a great gym. Extremely clean and well kept, there are always people around maintaining the place to keep it so nice. There is an area for everything that you could really need, and if you can't find something, the staff are super approachable and helpful in advising and also taking member requests and suggestions seriously. I never took any classes here but they offer so many and seem like a great resource for people looking for a workout with more structure. Overall great environment to work out in, unfortunately moved quite a bit away and couldn't go anymore but I did try to make the commute work for a few months because I loved the place so much! Gym is nice and equipment is lovely and staff seems very friendly but shady things are happening. I'll just start off by saying that my monthly rate went up without notice at all, here's the story: I used to be a workout world member but it seems that due to covid, that gym closed without notice. Without any communication my membership was transferred over to Best Fitness. Okay, honestly did not have a problem with this considering that when I spoke to the front desk about any rate change, they assured me there would be none. This was not the case. Again, without any communication my billing went up to three fold. I only found this out after looking at my credit card statement, because again, no communication was given. When I asked about the lack of communication, they stated that "letters were mailed out and emails were sent" (I recieved NONE). I told them this and asked for them to cancel my membership and for the price difference (not the whole amount) to be refunded, which I thought was fair, they declined to do so. Again, the gym looks nice, but if they decide to pull a fast one, don't expect them to make things right. The sad thing is, I haven't been hitting the gym due to covid concerns and have only been working out from home for the past 5 months. I kept my membership open to support the business so that they would kee their doors open. Let's see how long that lasts with shady business practices. read more

So I go in on 3 different occasions to try to get that cleared up got absolutely no where with them no help at all! Still have never gotten the money back they felt i should jump through hoops to contact HR and all, so it wasn't worth it because if that club couldn't honor it then whatever. They boast as if they are such a clean gym. When I went they didn't clean anything they'll take a 30 second clip of cleaning thats it. My wife and I have been members since the opening of Best Fitness. We go on a consistent basis. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help! The staff always greets you with smiles and Joe D is a great manager and ensures everyone has an excellent experience!!! The burn and muscle classes are excellent with great motivational instructors! Crooks. I was a member with workout word in Peabody. It closed during the pandemic and never reopened. Despite never having any contract with Best Fitness, let alone having never stepped foot in the gym, they started charging me as if I was a member there. They said they transferred my account over from work out world. I never consented to this. They then threatened to report my account as delinquent to the credit bureaus if I didn't pay up. So, despite having no business with this gym, I had to drive down there and cancel a membership I never signed up for - in person. When I asked the person at the counter how any of this was legal I was told "I'm not going to get into this with you. You have two options - either cancel or leave the premises." No explanation and no accountability. Absolute criminals in my opinion. Committing fraud in my opinion. I have sent a letter to massachusetts consumer protection board and filed complaints with the BBB and the Massachusetts Secretary of State. I'd make sure you read all the fine print on your membership. This place excels at taking your money using their 30 day windows. My wife and I wanted to freeze our membership because of COVID. We were told we had to give 30 day notice to freeze it, so they charged us an extra month each. We then went in and decided to cancel the membership all together, paying $200 to get out of it. But, since they require another 30 day notice when you cancel, they charged us again, a week after cancelling. Complete thievery. Now we know why/how they charge less per month. They will rob you down the road should anything happen and you need to get out. Buyer beware. read more
