Class offerings and time options are also really good for the area with lots of morning classes and good variety between yoga, Pilates and weight based classes. Classes are challenging too which is so important to me. My only downfall with this place and why I can't be a permanent member is I can't get over the fact that there are no mirrors in the studio!! I understand this may be common for traditional yoga studios but if you offer these type of weighted classes how can there not be a mirror to check form. Personally a mirror helps me make that mind/body/muscle connection way more but maybe I'm alone in that.

But Pure Barre has been the complete opposite: rejoining was seamless, and they even honored a military discount for me for being in the Air Force. The instructors? Amazing, they are all truly special; they remember faces and names, cheer you on, and create such a positive, uplifting energy in every class. Even the little touches, like a bathroom stocked with essentials, show how much they care about their members' experience. This place just gets it! I'm super so thankful to be part of this community again--it feels like coming home.

Instead you took the barre class knowing that I told you that it was $15 for a single class. So technically you owed $35 for skipping the Pilates introduction and $15 for the barre class. That is a total of $50 but I only called you looking for the $15 for the barre class. And yes I did ask you if you signed up because it said free because that is exactly what you did. You had no intentions of going to the Pilates introduction and you took the barre class and lied about the website being wrong and giving false information which was our fault. But you failed to mention the phone call discussion we had before you signed up for anything and that I explained to you in detail the difference between the Pilates introduction and the barre as well as the cost for each and YOU CHOSE THE REFORMER INTRO! So I did you a favor instead of charging you the $50 you owed I was only looking for your $15 payment for the barre class. Everything you wrote was a lie. I was never rude to you and you conveniently didn't mention that we spoke about the difference between the two options and I was the bad guy for doing my job and getting the money you owed! Just purchased a Groupon for an 18-class Fit Barre punch card for $95, and I wish I didn't. This class was horribly boring. The music is inappropriate and at whisper volume (they were playing that depressing Adele song while we were supposed to be doing difficult ab moves, then "Sitting on the dock of the Bay" when we were at the barre doing "cardio"... not exactly a motivator), and the instructor, while in great shape, and a seemingly lovely person (hence the two stars, instead of one), really shouldn't be teaching group classes. She didn't seem to have any rhythm, and she had a hard time explaining the moves to the class. Half the time, she didn't do them with us, either. Too many breaks, too much over-explaining... not enough action, I guess. I can actually see how she would be an excellent pilates instructor, but Barre is supposed to be more "high octane". If you want to go to a really excellent Barre class, try Barre N9ne in Andover Center, and see Tanya. I won't make the mistake of going anywhere else again.

Weekday times are very convenient for those of us who work 9-5. I have only taken 2 of the teacher there- Julie and Jenn- both are great. I do wish they would switch up the flows so it didn't seem like the same flow each time, can get a little boring and repetitive. Also, I wish they offered more challenging poses, so I could get outside my comfort level a little. All and all, a great little studio for all yoga levels.

In that time along with some strength training and diet changes I managed to go from a size 2XL to a Small. Reducing my overall weight by 50 pounds and my biological age by 7 years. Ignore the previous reviewer who complained about needing to come early for the first session. It's stated explicitly several times when you register for your first (free!) class that you need to arrive early. They need to orient you to the space, the equipment, sign paperwork, etc. I'm sure there are liability issues making this not just their practice but a necessary policy. Anyone who would fault a business owner for that is clearly pretty self-important. Do yourself a favor and give OrangeTheory Swampscott a try!

HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE…read more It was supposed to be my first class and I was genuinely excited to try it out but they didn't let me in the class. They have a very strict policy that you must arrive at least 30 minutes before the class starts. I arrived 23 minutes before. They said it is corporate policy and denied me access. No one ever told me before it was a strict 30 minutes or I would not get access in. To be a stickler over 7 minutes and turn down someone new is just rude. I am NEVER going back. By the way, I have friends who are OTF instructors at another location and they said that would never happen at their location because they allow new clients in up to 20 minutes before. SO this strict corporate policy is BS. The folks at this location have no sense of how to treat clients. While the first class is free you could not pay me to go back there.

The membership price has increased, yet there always seems to be something broken, and cleanliness appears to be a serious issue. The men's whirlpool and cold plunge can remain dirty for several days or even weeks before they are properly cleaned. There is visible buildup and residue along the walls, which is extremely concerning in facilities where people are exposed to water and shared surfaces. This is not just about appearance,it is a matter of hygiene and health. Management should understand that poor sanitation can expose members to bacteria and potentially cause serious health problems. We have complained about these issues before, and we were told, "Thank you for your feedback." However, one day later, the whirlpool was still closed and the problems remained unresolved. The dry sauna also had such a strong and unpleasant odor that it smelled as though there might have been a dead animal inside. For the price being charged, members should be able to expect a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility. Please take your responsibilities seriously and address these hygiene and maintenance issues before someone gets sick. This gym has the potential to be much better, but the current level of cleanliness is unacceptable.
