Today was the first time I've come here. Since it's less than a mile from work, I was hopeful that it was going to work out. The staff (Chloe?) was extremely helpful both, on the phone and in person. She made me feel comfortable that my fur baby was going to be well cared for. Unfortunately, I was informed that they are changing the hours, and they would not open until 8 am. This will not work with my schedule, so I will have to look elsewhere. We left our dogs here for 2 nights and it seems they were neglected the entire time. I never saw the dogs in any camera for the indoor spaces, I assumed maybe they were outside, but now I do not believe that is the case. When we went to pick up the dogs the girl that let us in said something like "oh we just let them back in from playing outside!" The kennel they were in had pee everywhere, both dogs smelled like pee and had pee on them. When I asked why the dogs had pee on them she told me another dog peed on the floor and that my dogs had rolled in it. No dog rolls in pee, come on. Also they had no wet pee on their backs. Clearly neither dog had been outside recently like the girl lied about, because our 2 year old dog peed for 30-40 seconds as soon as he was in the hallway, and our other dog peed as soon as he was out of the front door. Both dogs pooped as soon as they reached the grass, and one of them pooped again when we got home less than 10 minutes later. We left them with 4 meals (each) worth of food, and when we picked them up there were 3 meals (each) left! This place won't feed your dog, they won't let your dog out to pee or poop, and your dog is certainly not anyone's best friend here. The bag we left them with was covered in so much pee you could wring it out like a dish rag if you wanted to. read more

After a few visits to Best Friends for Day Camp, we decided we should switch to them as a vet. After a few visits to the vet and a few more day camps, we deiced we should start using them for Boarding (Stay and Play). After a Stay and Play and another vet visit, we committed to the wellness plan. You get the picture, the place is awesome. The more you use it, the more you'll want to return. Day Camp: Your dog can spend 1/2 a day or a whole day in the camp. New dogs wait in a crate that is exposed to the camp until they are calm, then they are welcomed to join the camp. The first introduction is the longest, so plan to spend some time there during your first visit to make sure everything is ok with your pup in the camp. If its a nice day, the dogs get to play inside or outside at their leisure. Bonus: if it snows, the dogs get to go outside for a bit and play in the snow! While your pup is in day camp, you can check in on them with the live web cams! On one visit I picked up my pup and noticed some blood on his paw, so I walked back in to inquire. The vet, Dr. Renee, saw him immediately, cleaned his paw, put on Neosporin, and told me it was just rubbed raw from excessive play (aka fun). Then the vet tech, who saw my pup on a previous visit, inquired about some of his previous issues. Great staff and great service. Boarding (Stay and Play package): our pup spent 2 nights at Best Friends for NYE and New Years day, because you can't pick up on a holiday. On the second day of his stay, I received an email from him with a photo of him with one of his friends. It was written from my pup, and helped me to rest assured that he was happy and enjoying his stay, not miserable as I would typical assume he is during boarding. If you subscribe to the wellness package, you get to visit the vet for free whenever you want. All of your standard yearly tests and vaccinations are covered, and you get 10% off all services, products, and boarding/day camp. For boarding or day camp, you can drop off as early as 7. Latest day camp pickup is 7pm, which is the later than you'll find any other place in the area. If you are getting a grooming service with boarding, you can also pickup as late as 7 for free, which is yet another bonus you won't find anywhere else in the area. All that said, and the prices are extremely competitive. Give them a try, you won't regret it. read more

Corporate office has tried to contact the owner of this location several times but has not had any luck. Where is the ZERO stars option??? This place is TERRIBLE! DO NOT leave your pets here. Went to pick up our two dogs on a Saturday after leaving them here for 4.5 days and no one was here at the facility upon arrival to pick them up. All lights off, no cars in the parking lot and no way to get a hold of any one via phone at this location or the Carmel one. (we arrived at 4:30pm and they close at 5.) The call service that we finally got a hold of said at least 10 people had called them saying they couldn't pick up their pets either. Police and animal control were finally called who helped up enter the building to retrieve our pets. They reeked of urine and so did their pet beds. 3 days of food was returned to us. So....it seems they were not fed 3 out of the 4.5 days they were there. It was apparent they had gone awhile without water as well, as once we got them home they ran for the water bowl. Tried to call corporate but the four numbers they gave me from the call center were invalid. Went back to the Best Friends facility 2 days later to retrieve the number and saw they were not telling people who came to pick up their pets that were there during the time of the neglect and were charging them full price for their stay. UNACCEPTABLE! read more

We have been taking our rescue dog, Cooper, here for about 6 months or more. He absolutely loves coming here. As soon as we pull into the parking lot, he is begging to get out of the car. The staff is so understanding of his social issues and gives him his space when he needs it. We mostly take him to the Doggy Day Camp but we have also boarded him in their Stay and Play service. Every time we pick him up, he is exhausted! Which helps us have more relaxing evening! We also utilize their grooming services for the occasional nail trim and they do a great job. We, along with our pup, are very happy here. The staff is great, prices are comparable and the location is convenient. Best Friends gets two paws up! read more

I (along with my dog Izzo) absolutely LOVE Best Friends!! There is another boarding facility about two blocks from my home, but it doesn't hold a candle to Best Friends. Thus, I drive 10 minutes out of my way to board my pup here. They are always greeting both me and my dog with genuine enthusiasm which starts his stay off on the right foot. He always comes back happy, tired, and I really appreciate the report card feedback telling me how he did during his visit. Not many facilities provide this level of service, love and attention to detail! The staff truly treats Izzo as if he were their own pet. I've also taken advantage of their grooming services and they are top notch! They even provided me to tips to help ease my puppy's fear of getting his nails trimmed. read more

I just used Best Friends for the first time, and I'm an instant fan! First off, the "first day free" is a great deal. They must offer that because they know once you've tried them, you won't want to go anywhere else! Our dog, Roxie, is very excitable, but the employee who checked us in was great at handling her and not making us feel bad about Roxie trying to jump on her. One of their BEST features is live stream video. We were able to see video of Roxie when she was first brought into the room with all the others dogs and see how great they were all playing together. Even after you leave you can go to the Best Friends website and watch your dog playing. It makes you feel good that they have nothing to hide. Another perk is that if you have your dog bathed/groomed before you pick them up, that day of boarding is free. So we ended up with a clean, happy dog! And to top it off, they gave us a report card full of details on how she played with the other dogs, how she ate during her stay, and even a groomer's evaluation of her coat, nails, etc. I highly recommend Best Friends Pet Care! read more

I've been going to Best Friends for over a year, since I've had my puppy Maltese. It seemed good at first but every time I came in for a follow up or urgent care appt., there was a different, new Veterinarian practicing. I liked the original one who spayed my Puppy, so I continued going to Best Friends. Every month, until June of 2016, I would drop my dog off for grooming. I have nothing bad to say about the Groomers there. Claire and the other Groomer are very nice. The problem I have is with the new Receptionist, Cory, who was not friendly at all. I haven't seen Cory before but He works behind the front desk. He was very rude when I dropped my dog off for a grooming appt. He failed to answer any of my questions and brushed me off. He also didn't see my name on the list for an appt so He started becoming difficult with me without being accommodating and trying to solve the problem. Claire finally came out and told Cory that She was expecting me. I had to bite my tounge, but that Encounter made me very Angry. I don't know how Cory is working there. Anyways, that's enough reason for me to find a new Veterinarian/Groom place for my Dog. read more

Went here for the first time my Siberian Husky pup Maximus was having some issues they were they only ones in town that would see him the same day and I am so glad they did! The staff was knowledgable and friendly to not only my puppy but myself as well. They were quick to diagnose his problem and take care of it as well as offer free samples of other basic treatments for fleas, heartworms, etc...they went above and beyond. The facilities were amazing and the treatment even better, Max felt like a little celebrity there. I will not be taking my dog anywhere else from now on. Sadly, after five or more years sending my dogs here I'm now looking for a new place.

I was very disappointed in the stay this time and won't come back for several reasons. (1) We have stayed at Best Friends multiple times before, but yet I had to fill out all the emergency paperwork again, while this seems small, it does take lots of time. (2) I received a call on the Thursday before my dog was to stay, that she needed a Bordetella and Fecal exam. We have a regular vet, and the Vet does not require these every 6 months, why should the boarder require unnecessary vaccinations and exams? I was told 2 days before she was coming, there was no way I could get her into her normal vet. I was told the shot was only $19, yet the exam required BEFORE the shot can be administered was $35. $55 spent that was not necessary. Once I picked her up, the Medical Exam bill was $80!! This well above what I was quoted on the phone, which was already UNNECESSARY! I was and am still outraged at this. (3) While booking her stay, I had requested my dog be groomed before I pick her up. A normal grooming for my dog includes nail cut/anal gland /Sheddless hair treatment and extra brushing, normally around $50. Best Friends charged me $69. That did not included her nails/ears and her coat was NOT neat and shining like normally is from other places. I am so disappointed in how Best Friends extorted my need for over night pet care, and charged me $189!!!! My own hotel stay at a 4 star hotel in downtown Indianapolis was LESS THAN 1 night to board my dog. read more

Shawn and all the team at Best Friends Indy are GREAT! I fully trust the care that Sable and Hope receive while visiting the "Pet Resort". It is like a vacation for them while they are visiting. The staff truly treats them as if they were their own! To me that is priceless! Matter of fact I recently went out of town for 12 days and had to drive 2 hours to take Sable and Hope to Best Friends Indy! This place is only for dogs who are low maintenance. The ladies at the front desk seemed inexperienced (there's no way they were trainers of any sort) when approaching my dog and immediately misunderstood her and labeled her a bite risk even though my dog has NO history of biting. I have taken my dog to other dog day cares and vet offices in the past with zero problems. If your dog has any issues with anxiety and needs special attention when being introduced to a new place or people, this place is not for your dog. read more
