This past November I brought my big black Labrador for a grooming the staff was very attentive there was an expediter just inside the door directed me to where I should go to check in paperwork was filled out my boy was taken by a handler and was ready to be picked up after a couple hours via text notification. AVOID THIS COMPANY Left my dog with them for two nights. He is on prescription food and cannot have anything else or he gets sick. We get him back and they gave us another dogs food. When he got home he starting having diarrhea. That progressed to him pooping blood, which we already knew happens when he gets something he isn't supposed to have. I called and they refuse to do anything on a refund saying that even though they messed up and gave us the wrong food back, they did not mess up in giving him something he wasn't supposed to have. They said "sometimes older dogs poop blood". If I wanted my dog to be in worse shape after two days I could have just left him alone at home and saved a couple hundred dollars. read more

This is the second time we've used Barkefellers to board our dog. This time was for seven days, and I don't think we will bring her back. When unpacking her things, all of her toys and blanket were soaked in urine. Thank goodness we bought a bath on the last day or I'm sure she would have been covered in urine as well. Also, it was reported to us that she was given dog food provided by Barkefellers and not the food we brought with her. Of course, they told us this at pick up instead of calling to make sure it was okay. Our dog has food sensitivities and should not be given random brands of dog food without consulting us. I have been taking my 2 dogs there for 3 years. My female dog is diabetic and requires insulin. They were one of the few places that would accept her. She has always done great there. I have always sent a lower than normal dose for her just in case she didn't eat. She is very food driven and they never had to worry that she would not eat. According to them "she licks her bowl clean!" I had them set up for 2 night boarding a week in advance. They call me the morning that I was to drop them off. I was going to be there in 10 minutes. They tell me that they had a change in policy and could no longer accept diabetic dogs. NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO! They could not tell me that when I made the reservations!? They could not Grandfather her in!? I always have them give my dogs a spa bath before coming home. I have spent $$$$ at this facility. So much for customer loyalty! read more

We completed Level 1 training with our 1 year old German Shepard and it was great! The trainer was so sweet and everyone knows their stuff. The facility looks new and has a great set up. It was $195 but it's 5 full days of training - you take your dog in the mornings then come back later at the end of the day for a session with both your dog and the trainer then they send you both home with homework! You even get a free day of day care if you return the survey given after the training. I highly recommend the training. Can't wait for Level 2!! read more

This has been my go to spot for Leo since we got him 2 years ago. There's usually always an issue with the boarding services. Last boarding half of his items were misplaced when I picked him up and I received a credit, which was okay because it was just a bag and some bowls. However, this last mistake was huge mistake that no credit can solve. Leo has liver disease and has to eat special food and take meds. I sent him with his exact food, measurements and instructions. I picked him up today and one of his bags of food was never opened. I asked if he ate this morning they said yes, but could not confirm what he ate. After talking with staff they CANNOT and WILL NOT confirm what my dog consumed despite the instructions I sent. I even asked was it wet if dry food because that will definitely tell me what he ate and they couldn't confirm. Manager stated that they send empty bags of food back when dogs are picked up, so when I asked where was his empty food they said they might have thrown it away. They also had somebody else's empty dog food bag in my returned bag (see photo). Now I have to let the vet know he consumed another dogs food despite his restrictions which is another cost. In addition to that, his feet is soaked with urine and I had to take him to a pet store to bathe him myself. Mind you, I did overnight boarding with no play time to avoid adding on another bath. So how is he soaked in urine while in a standard suite by himself?? Even his toys and blanket was soaked!! This is my last time at this location after all these years and looking past the several mistakes prior. You will no longer take my money because you do not respect me as a pet parent or customer. I am on the search for a less commercial boarding and grooming facility on the West side of Indy, if anyone would care to share. read more

I just love this place. I have a cocker spaniel and needed to find a groomer who knew how to do a cocker cut...this is the place! Rachel is our groomer and she does amazing. She always spends time with us before the appointment to make sure we get what we prefer. When we pick our dog up she is always so sweet and comes out to tell me how he did. My dog always comes out so happy too! You can tell Rachel loves him and enjoys what she is doing. He even gets a cute bandanna to wear home. We had the absolute worst experience at Barkefeller and I would not recommend anyone to send their dogs there. *Long Read and to simplify, Suzie is our 15-year-old Cocker and Libby is our 10-year-old mixed Pitty. We were heading to Nashville for a Funeral and to clean out my Dad's house. We had never boarded these two dogs before, but after looking at what Barkefeller had to offer we thought they'd be well taken care of. We scheduled the Presidential Suite for them which included access to a patio, a larger kennel, 3 private play time sessions, a tuck in at night, and a camera so we could pop in to see how they're doing. Sounds great, right? Let's start with the kennel, our dogs never left the kennel. Meaning they were not taken out to use the restroom. Instead they were left to use the restroom by their beds. Those of you who have dogs that are potty trained generally have a guilty conscience when they have an accident indoors. Plus, this is not something I wanted our girls to get accustomed to doing. The three private play times consisted of the staff coming in to clean up the dog's messes, and a few minutes of petting. I would consider this checking on them, not a private play time. When we called to ask about the play time because we hadn't seen it, we were told they had just had their playtime and that they were sleeping. We informed them that this wasn't true as we had been watching for a majority of the morning. She then informed us that she had just clocked in and would get her manager. The manager informed us their play time was scheduled in an hour. (We're getting concerned at this point). A couple hours pass, and someone finally comes in the clean up the mess and pet the dogs for a couple minutes. Suzie was scheduled for a grooming on Thursday, they called Thursday midday to let us know they couldn't do it because of her age and were going to give us a day of boarding charges for the inconvenience and a free bath that last day. We declined the bath, but they gave her one anyway and charged us for it. Friday Suzie was missing her bed for a majority of the day. We're still not sure why but were informed that they washed it. It smelled of death when I picked them up so I'm not sure what they washed it with. All of their bedding needed to be washed when we got home, and Libby required a bath. On pickup we were already pretty frustrated, so we requested to speak with the manager (Jenny) when we arrived. She was currently with another guest and we told them we'd wait. She refused to speak with us and had another member of staff take our complaint. I'm now beginning to get really frustrated. They didn't seem to care that we were upset and called the General Manager part Owner (Jordan) because we didn't want a future credit for the bath, they had given Suzie. Jordan wasn't willing to budge and eventually I said fuck it, give us the bill and we'd never be back. Once we were home, I was going through the dog's food and medicine. Suzie was not given any of her food. I'm not sure what she ate. Most of her meds were still in the individual bottles and quite a bit of Libby's meds was still in its bottle too. All in all, if you want your dogs to be put in a kennel, barely given any attention, not fed, allowed to use the restroom near their bed, then take them to Barkefeller. read more

I'm a pretty big fan of this business, which is the go to option for my family when we go out of town. Service is friendly, and its easy to get in and out fast. Its all computerized so no need to fill anything out once you are registered. Opening hours are extensive. You gotta book ahead for weekends. The major drawback for me is that the basic package does not include your dog leaving their cage. It's $10 for some exercise, and there are also a ton of add-ons you can opt for if you splurge. read more

I had several SERIOUS issues with this place, and it was my first time ever taking my baby girl to a doggy daycare for a weekend! FIRST:My main issue is that just a few days after her being home I noticed she was VERY SICK, and took her to ER & found she has KENNEL COUGH OR BRONCHITIS, and an EAR INFECTION which all cost me $600 to test & treat for just taking my dog here for 2 1/2 days only! let me clarify my dog has not since been around ANY other dogs and has never had this issue before. So are they not cleaning this place well enough or making sure everyone is vaccinated? I know my dog is vaccinated so idk how dirty this place is for her to get it. They should reimburse me at least! Also when expressing my concern for my pup getting hurt in group play she stated "we don't let the dogs touch." Which I found very strange and nearly impossible but thought okay either she is lying or confused. When we picked her up she had slobber all over her which happens when dogs play bite and wrestle. So they DID touch plenty. Okay fine. Second issue was the room I had reserved & put a deposit on MONTHS in advance was not available despite me having called in twice before to confirm things!!! They could've told me any time before I dropped her off. If my dog had the outside terrace with more ventilation and less group play maybe she wouldn't be suffering now with this sickness! The LIES: The girl who checked us in said that "well the terrace suite you reserved was actually booked until later today when your dog will be moved to that room after it becomes available later today." So I accepted that she would be in a very small cell with just a TV for a few hours. Before I left I asked her to turn on the TV in her room & she said "okay I will make sure to turn it on here in a second." So I left and decided to call back later to check on her and make sure she was moved to the right room and or the TV was on for her. When I called back to check on her a few hours later I couldn't get someone so I left a voicemail which was NEVER returned. So the next morning I called to check in and was told that the room I booked was in fact booked for the entire weekend. So I was lied to when I dropped her off. THEN, I ask her to make sure my dogs TV was turned on and it was not, she had to turn it on. Second lie I was told. Needless to say I am very turned off of this place read more

I think some of these reviews are a bit ridiculous. ANYHOW, my baby visits 2-3 times a week for a full day/groom, and utilized boarding services a few times, and she absolutely LOVES it. No sign of any abuse, they will not hesitate keeping me updated about her. Keeping in mind that they are caring for LOTS of dogs at one time I feel they are doing an EXCEPTIONAL job. Always made me, and my dog-ter feel welcome. Until anything changes I will continue allowing them to care for my baby. read more

My review is based on the training program! I have been bringing my puppy since he was 10 weeks old. He has never gotten sick, which tells me the area is cleaned regularly. As I expected that to just be "a part of daycare" but we have been very lucky! Our trainer Olivia, has been AMAZING. She is kind and knowledgeable. She hears our concerns about behaviors and adjusts to make sure they are corrected. She pushes him to learn more and more each time. He knows all his basic commands and is working hard to ignore distractions on his walks. We love Olivia and know that she helped to improve his quality of life, and ours!! Bre is another trainer and when Olivia was unable to make one of his sessions she stepped in and we quickly loved her also! She was so easy to talk to and get to know. These two are the reason that I trust this location so much and will continue to use their services. We also use the b-well plan and Grace has been amazing at getting him accustomed to the process of nail trims and teeth brushing. After lots of looking for my first fur baby, I am happy with my choice! read more

I am in love with Barkefellers! I have four large dogs, so boarding my mutts is always stressful because its pricey and complicated. We went to their open house back in May for the new opening of the Westside Barkefellers, and we were sold. They have reasonable prices, every time I've been there I see employees watching and caring for the dogs. The place is clean and smells clean. We get the Family Suite - $65 for a large indoor run in which you can place up to 5 dogs and/or up to 250lbs. Yes! Our pack can stay together and for cheap. They will also use their own food to feed your dogs if you don't feel like packing and bringing a weeks worth of chow - awesome! My dogs have always come home happy and healthy. I think that this place needs to be under completely new management and maybe do a little more due diligence during the hiring process. These aren't just animals ! They are family members, our fur babies. If you don't have compassion don't work in this type of environment. If you are driven by your ego you shouldn't be in a management position. Barkefeller is where I always took my Siberian husky before he passed in 2017. They always to good care of him with the exception of the one time I requested the premium package on his grooming and they only bathed him but charged me the premium price. They also trimmed his whiskers really low which was something I did not ask them to do and I'd never heard of that so I was extremely shocked. But they re-washed him and did an excellent job the second time around. The facility is very clean and I live the idea of each animal having their own suite. Nothings perfect but I highly recommend giving them a try. I think you'll be glad you did. read more

Beware! DO NOT take your dog to Barkefellers! Doggie daycare is a wonderful and much needed business - except for Barkefellers. At one time, years ago, it was ok, but has deteriorated to a scary and unsafe environment for a dog. This review isn't just sour grapes, it is from some very sad experiences my dog has had to endure and I had to pay for. The last day she was at Barkefellers I was called and told she had worms so she was isolated in a cage. They even had a video of the little wigglies. I took her to the vet immediately and guess what - no worms, just more vet expense. She was also scheduled for a nail trim to use the credit we had accumulated. They didn't trim her nails and didn't tell me either. I had to bring her back in (made an appointment), but her nails were not trimmed then, either. When you trust your precious pet to the people at Barkefellers, you will be very sorry at your pet's expense. Unless there is an injury, the problems may not be evident, so watch where they bring your dog from when you pick up. Do they bring he/she in from the play area or from the "cages"? When you pay for daycare all day, ask how many hours your dog spends in a cage and why. They overbook without notice and your dog may spend all day in a cage - do they tell you or give a credit? No, they deny or come up with an excuse if you notice. They say they start cleaning the play areas at 5:00 and, guess what, your dog goes in a cage during the time your are expecting play. They say the facility is open for certain hours, but that does not mean your dog is in playgroup all that time, if at all. The last straw was when I tried to drop my dog off and was told they were full and if I hadn't made a reservation I couldn't leave her. I had always made reservations for her until they told me not to, they didn't want me to, so I stopped. Shocked, I asked for a refund for the remaining days of my package. Was told there are no refunds and I had to use the remaining days or forfeit the money. Very, very bad daycare choice! read more

I took my standard poodle there for a scheduled groom, and recieved a call later that the groomer "was new" and did not know how to do a "Poodle Cut". She said she would bathe him and trim his feet though!?? What the What$. You work in a grooming salon and no one knows how to groom a poodle? When I picked him up and asked the receptionist why nobody there knows how to groom a poodle and she stated that if his hair is different then normal they can't do it! Let me start by saying, I live one block away from another doggie daycare, but I still choose to drive 20 minutes to Barkefellers instead. If that doesn't say something of the quality and trustworthiness of this place, I don't know what will. I've taken my little floof Yankee to puppy school, levels one and two with Bark West. Hannah was the trainer at the time, and she kept the lines of communication open, even long after our training was done. My little man is much more well-behaved than if I hadn't learned how to teach him, and I'm forever reaping the benefits of that. It's 100% worth the fee - which, by the way, is comparable to any comprehensive training programs out there. I checked. Yankee frequents the daycare, which is separated by small and large breeds - which Yank is less than 10lbs so I'm thankful for this! The staff knows his name when I walk in and often call dibs on who gets to take him back because they love their clients so much. It's $24 for an 8+ hour day which, again, is comparable to most other daycares. He's so pooped out by the time I pick him up he snoozes the whole way home. I've also taken him to get bathed and/or groomed at Barkefellers, and the groomers are all well-qualified and want to ensure they're caring for your dog exactly the way you hoped for. He always looks so handsome in his little bandana when I come to pick him up! Scheduling is breezy, and I've never had to wait long. Bark West is the total package, and I can't imagine taking him anywhere else. I'm so thankful for the way they care for my four-legged son. read more

I can't say enough about Barkefellers West. My 8 year old Bichon Kirby has stayed and played here since they opened! He loves it and knows his routine. They are thorough with instructions and ao kind when you call to chevk in. Such a patient and friendly staff. Last month Kirby stayed for a week. Unrelated to his stay, he was having stomach issues. The staff was quickly on it...I called my vet and Barkefellers staff was authorized to go get ir from my vet and administered it! EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. The peace of mind..I was on a cruise and so stressed. All was well the next day! I emailed and even got a picture! Julie abd staff were AWESOME! Don't look further! read more

My pupper is a regular guest during the week (and sometimes on the weekend too!), and loves his time there. The staff is wonderful and treats him like the celebrity he thinks he is! We go to the Westside location, and it is always super clean, and feels almost like home. Lots of fresh air and playtime keep him active and ready to come home in the evening. My dog always comes back happy when she visits Barkefellers. Many times when I leave her for boarding, she sulks and won't go along with the boarding employee who tries to take her away. When we go to Barkefellers, she walks away from me without even looking back. It breaks my heart, but at least I know she likes it there. Even when we were out at a pet event in town, my dog (who is timid around new people) happily greeted a couple of people who I thought were strangers. But those people knew my dog's name! Turns out they were the Barkefellers employees who take care of my dog when I board her. I was pleased to see my dog was so happy to see them and that they knew my dog by name even when they only see her once every 3-6 weeks. I'd recommend Barkefellers to anyone. read more

I've used them before earlier in the Summer and thought they were pretty good. Then, we used then this past weekend while my wife and I were on a 4 day weekend with family out of state. When we got our boy back home, we found out they weren't giving him his medicine like they were supposed to. Barkefeller's is fantastic! I've taken my dog to other dog hotels and Barkefellers is a cut above. The staff is very friendly and remembers your name and your dogs name. The facility is very impressive and clean. I've taken my pit bull here several times and they've taken great care of her. When I pick her up, they give me a report card telling me how she played during play time and how much she ate of her food. They add notes to the report card telling you which dogs your dog made friends with, that's neat. I know my dog is in good hands at Barkefellers. read more

We love be Barkefellers! We have 2 GSD's, one who needs a little extra time and patience. The staff is awesome with our boys, Kaiser and Reece. Both dogs love the staff and get very excited when I ask if they want to " go play with their friends". The staff always calls me to let me know if one of the dogs is acting unusual, gets a little knick from playing or is licking excessively or whatever. They're on top of these dogs and really pay attention to what goes on during the day. They know who we are when we walk in and I don't have to tell them who I'm there to pick up anymore. I've used both boarding services and use daycare on a frequent basis. I highly recommend this place - they love their furry friends! read more

Barkefellers is the best! Our one year old Border Heeler has been going here since he was four months old. He went through both levels of training, Hannah the trainer is the bomb! He spends at least one day a week there for day care and always arrives excited and leaves exhausted. We've boarded him there three times and each time was a great experience. Wish they had a middle of the night potty time offer because our dog just can't hold his bladder that long and always ends up having an accident in his suite. The staff will wash their items if you call and ask them to. The staff is friendly and knows the dogs by name. The trainer is knowledgeable. The facilities are the best in the area. read more

We have taken our dog here since they opened the doors (which luckily happened as soon as we moved to the Plainfield/Avon area). We were happily shown around the place by the owner when we asked for a tour. I was so impressed with how clean it was and how professionally run it is. We have taken our dog here multiple times for just day care and also to have her boarded. She comes home exhausted, but in great shape and is as happy as can be. The staff is wonderful. They do tend to get busy at times and seem rushed, but it all depends on what time you drop off/pick up. We really couldn't ask for more. If you get a luxury suite you can even log in and watch your dog on camera! We did it once, as it really isn't much more $$, but I notice they do sell out of these quickly on busy weekends. This was my first time visiting this Barkefellers location. I brought my dog in to get a full body groom and a nail trim. I dropped him off at 10 AM and couldn't pick him up till after 5 PM. I was unaware that a typical dog grooming took over 7 hours. Another issue is with their service desk. I talked to them twice prior to coming in and when I got in they were still wrong about the service he was there to get. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a groom. read more
