Excellent place to spend a few days while taking a dogcation in Southern Utah. Best Friends Roadhouse is a great place to stay. The grounds and room are clean and well kept. The staff is courteous and helpful. It's walking distance to pet friendly restaurants and close to National Parks like Bryce and Zion as well as hidden gems like Coral Pink Sand Dunes.

    Welcoming bowls!

First, you're helping Best Friend's rescue. Second, it's a wonderful place for travelers with pets or for those who would like to adopt - you can sign up to bring back a pet from the sanctuary or volunteer. Third, Kanab is such a beautiful town. So many trails, slot canyons, and toadstool hoodoos that you will wonder if you even need to make the trip to Zion 30 minutes away. Great place to serve as home base for the Northern Grand Canyon run too. Breakfast is included too! Plus 2 lunch passes to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Where you can sign up for tours. Very cool experience!

I volunteered at Best Friends Sanctuary and had sleepovers with 2 different sanctuary dogs "Lunchable" and "Argos" This is the 2nd time I've stayed here with a sanctuary pup. The grounds are awesome, the rooms are perfect. Check in is easy and the cookies are delicious, they even have pup treats for your fur baby. The café and mercantile store is perfect. Breakfast is a great addition in the morning and hot chocolate is necessary in the mornings, for me of course because it was chill-lay!! Only pictures I took were of these cute pups snuggling in the bed with me. They clearly enjoyed it after our long hikes just as much as I enjoyed the comfy bed. The Roadhouse is my go-to spot when I'm in town volunteering and bringing sanctuary friend for a sleepover. Apparently you get 2 lunch tickets for the Café at Best Friends when you stay here. I didn't know that and I didn't get lunch tickets either time I stayed here. I'll have to ask about that when I come again. Book the Roadhouse and bring your furry friend, you won't regret it!

The dog bed was a nice touch my dogs weren't a fan of the dog beds, probably too many smells.

I am OBSESSED with this hotel!! First off, my favorite thing I learned is if you don't have a dog, you can stay here, go up to the mercenary and pick a dog or bunny to stay with you for the night. How amazing is that! We did not get a chance to do it, but would definitely if we could have! This was the perfect spot to stop on our road trip. The room we had was a king bed on the first floor. The hotel is super modern and clean! The room was so well designed, bright, fun & spacious! They paid attention to little details like having dog bowls, a pull out dog bed! The best feature is there's an additional door at the entry to prevent your dog from running out! Love the consideration of safety for our furry friends. Staff was the sweetest, it is located right outside of Zion which made for a perfect location for stop #3 of our road trip across the country!

By far an amazing experience from the moment we walked in the door to check in till we left. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, accommodations were amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better stay for to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.

The kind gift to celebrate our proposal.

My fiancé and I stayed for our proposal weekend/his birthday and I could not have asked for a better experience. Not only was the room and the accommodations exceptional, their customer service and staff knocked it out of the park. I proposed to my fiancé over the weekend and let the staff know ahead of time. We got back from a day hiking Zion and the proposal, and they left the most thoughtful bag of gifts, a flower arrangement, two mini bottles of martinelli's, and a personalized note to help us celebrate. Thank you, THANK YOU Best Friend's Staff. We were happy to become members and we cannot wait to back. Thank you for all you do!

One of the best hotel experiences of my life. This is an amazing stay even if you don't have a pet, but, for any pet owners visiting or passing through, this should be a no brainer. The staff are all so kind and friendly to you and your pet(s), they were calling our pup by his name by our second day. They also accommodated us checking in to our room(s) early twice during our stay (we moved from a regular room to a suite on our last night.) The rooms are designed smartly for pets, with a little mud room entry, dog pull out pets / alcoves, etc. The dog park is also great, I would love to take my pup there even if we weren't staying here. The other thing that blew me away is the quality of the construction and landscaping at the hotel. A lot of thought was put into the design throughout, from the steel and wood cabinetry to the beautiful sandstone countertops. Really it far exceeded our expectations in every way, we hope to be back soon.

Amazing and safe entry way into the hotel room. The wood door closes so you can prevent the dogs from running into the parking lot.

Shout out to Best Friends Roadhouse for turning a quick roadtrip into an incredible experience for our pups! Five-Star customer service from check-in to mercantile assistance! Our dogs also give Five-Paws for the dog park, room set-up, and a welcoming atmosphere. Words cannot express how impressed and thankful we are! We had a basic standard room with a queen bed. The bed had the cutest puppy pullout bed and all 3 of our dogs wanted to share it! The pull-out couch added extra space for our larger pup to spread out after a long drive. There was a refrigerator which was great for their wet foot. There were also 2 closets, so we utilized one for the dogs' suitcase. The entrance into the hotel room was the absolute best part. I originally wanted a 2nd floor room because I was scared one of our dogs would run out into the parking lot. But as soon as we unlocked the door on the first floor, there was a little entrance like at the dog park to avoid the dogs from escaping! I was So thankful for the extra safety measures they provided! So thoughtful! The TV was huge and the dogs loved to watch movies while we headed over to the Sanctuary to volunteer. We felt SO safe leaving our babies because The Roadhouse is extremely pet friendly. We have 3 dogs and usually only 1 dog is allowed under 20lbs at most hotels. We have a 70lb dog, 20lbs and 10lbs dog. They also provided bowls and the cutest welcome sign for our pups. The dog park was perfect. It was clean and quiet even though every room must have had a dog haha I felt so bad because I felt like our dogs were loud - to be a dog hotel it was so serene! There was a fire pit outside, too! We loved that all of the staff said hi to our babies; it really felt like home. I was expecting a basic room just to sleep, but this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. My dogs are so happy and had such a relaxing time because of Roadhouse. Huge thank you to the check-in staff who truly assisted with our requests, thank you to the continental breakfast staff for being so warm and welcoming, and thank you to the housekeeping staff for loving our babies. We are incredibly grateful and cannot wait to visit again!

Our kids already made a mess but cute rooms.

If we ever return to Kanab we will absolutely stay here again. Friendly, comfortable, super clean and CUTE. We took our dog and two young kids and it was so nice to feel so welcomed! Our boys had a hard time sleeping and the walls are pretty thin. We could hear dogs barking and I know our boys were noisy. That would be my only warning- bring ear plugs! Just plan for it since you know there will be dog noise. The breakfast/space was great. There was a concert the night we got there and it is walking distance to other food. We would recommend to anyone.

I found out about this amazing hidden gem of a place when I came to town to visit the Animal Sanctuary. I arrived late mmm at night and from the moment I walked in with the smell of the wood-burning fireplace, welcoming and lovely woman who was there to check me in. The best, well one of them, was the delicious cookie they give you upon check-in. For those who are vegan a bonus for you because everything at Best Friends is vegan. Here are some highlights from my recent stay, but there are really too many to list them all... - All the people that work there - The value for what you get is amazing - Location is a great base camp for your adventures to the various National Parks and other incredible sites. - The rooms are spacious and pet friendly and immaculate. In fact, I already planned another stay at the Mercantile and would recommend this place anytime you are looking for a place to stay when you are in town! P.S. The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary when you are in town. It is definitely not to be missed - it's incredible!

Best hotel I've ever stayed in! The room was so modern, clean, comfortable, and stylish. The shades are automated, the lights are dimmable. The bathroom was really new and they had really nice shampoo, conditioner and body wash from CO Bigelow in the shower. At breakfast they offer delicious vegan zucchini bread and banana bread. There is a mercantile where you can buy clothes and other items. I bought a really soft hoodie and joggers to support the animal shelter. The staff at the hotel are very friendly too. My dogs appreciated having the little dog park area to be able to wander off leash and they liked having the water bowls in the hotel room. If you are able to stay here, you are lucky!

Talk about a hotel designed for pets! I've stayed here multiple times and can not recommend it enough! From the personalized chalkboard welcome sign for your pet to the large & small dog park, the complimentary breakfast & the 24/7 front desk there is quite possibly not much missing. The staff are always so friendly and amazing with your furry friends! Plus if you purchase the Best Friends membership you get discounted hotel rates. They even offer sleepovers with shelter pets (no personal pets allowed with this experience though). Book ahead of time if you would like to participate in a shelter pet sleepover. Thank you Best Friends for the incredible hospitality and experience!

We drove 4 hours from Las Vegas and booked through Super.com. I'm a Choice Hotels member and was hesitant about Choice properties to begin with -- I usually stick to IHG, Hilton or Marriott -- but a great experience at the Comfort Suites Moab a year ago gave me confidence. The 4.5 stars on Yelp sealed the deal. Big mistake. The phone call before arrival -- called to notify them of a late arrival and the front desk lady answered with a flat "Hello," never pulled up my reservation, couldn't add my Choice Rewards number since I booked third party which is fine, but when I was done with my questions she said "bye" and hung up cold. I work in hospitality. That's not okay. Check in -- the overnight guy in a fedora was genuinely great. Friendly, fast, no complaints. Wish the rest of the staff had his energy at check in. The room -- rock hard queen beds, square couch-style pillows with zero support swimming inside oversized pillowcases, and a pull out sofa mattress with serious visible wear. All four of us on the queen beds woke up with back and neck aches and had to make a grocery run for pain meds before we could function. Breakfast -- both mornings were identical. Cold eggs, rubbery sausage patties, broken juice machine on day two. The make your own waffle station was the only thing worth touching. This is what your $5/night resort fee gets you. The afternoon front desk lady -- sat behind the desk on her personal phone both times we walked through without a single acknowledgment. Asked to switch rooms due to the beds -- flat "No," sold out, zero apology. Later came back from a bike ride with a potentially broken arm and asked where the nearest hospital was -- she pointed without looking up and went back to her phone. My friends had to connect to the hotel WiFi just to pull up directions since T-Mobile is spotty in Kanab. Ended up with a broken forearm and wrist. Now in a cast and sling. I don't expect a front desk employee to be a first responder but basic human decency isn't too much to ask. The A/C -- stopped working at 2am. Called the front desk and the overnight guy answered in silence with his phone playing in the background. After I said hello he responded with attitude. Told him the A/C was out in room 105 and he literally asked me "what should I do?" Requested a room switch, he said sold out and hung up. Five guys trying to sleep in a heatwave with no air conditioning. Pool area -- advertised as open year round and heated. Pool was covered. Spa was open but the gate to the entire area had no lock -- anyone could walk right in. Real safety concern for families with kids. At $146.24 for two nights the price seemed reasonable on paper. In reality this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The area is 5 stars -- this property is not. Stay elsewhere.
