I recently purchased a great shed from Best in Backyards in Cheshire CT. The quality and features made my choice easy when compared to other options. Ours has ample storage, functional windows, and two entrances that increase its utility. I particularly like the material used in construction. The outside panels are a durable composite, and the floor surfaces are pressure treated to protect against insects and rot. I expect many years of maintenance-free enjoyment. In addition, I'd like to thank everyone that made the purchase and installation go flawlessly. Particularly the two installers, Byron and Rigoberto, who took the time to place the shed in the exact location I requested with professional courtesy and skill. I went in to buy a trampoline, and I walked out with a pool! I didn't know Best in Backyards sold and installed pools, so I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed a pool display inside the store. Other contractors we had called were booking two years out, but Diane and her team said they could get it done for me this year. We are so happy that we went with Best in Backyards, and our experience was so much better than some friends and neighbors who used other companies. Diane was super helpful and knowledgable throughout the process, and Bryan (in charge of the installation project) and Scott (store manager) expertly managed the timeline and work without delays or issues. Rebecca navigated getting our plans approved by the town quickly, even with a wetlands issue that required some redesign of our original drawings. We now have a beautiful backyard oasis with an in-ground pool, gorgeous patio, hot tub, fence and new deck. Kevin on the pool installation team, Joel on the fencing and Alfredo on the hot tub setup were all extremely responsive and professional. Great one-stop shopping for everything we needed without need to deal with multiple contractors and scheduling. We were swimming two weeks after the pool went in the ground, and another month later all the finishing touches were done. I own a Marquis Spa hot tub, which BIB is an authorized repair center. They have not repaired the spa for months. Repeatedly missed appointments... Nelson the repairman came a week after I first called them... after two missed appointments... He ordered a control panel... almost two weeks later he says it arrived... made appointment and calls after the date/time and says he needs to order fuses... he calls a week later and installs the panel, but the heater wass still not working as my wife showed him ... he says it was and leaves... I get home and its not... He comes back over a week later (after two more missed appointments) and spends a full two hours to come up with the conclusion: "the heater assembly is not working"...(my wife told him that the last time he was here) Nelson will have Ralph or himself call me after he has details on replacing the heater assembly... It's two weeks later and neither Ralph nor Nelson has called back... The hot tub has been out of use for two months now... Terrible customer service... read more

Recently purchased a hot tub from Best in Backyards in Mahopac. I was worried what would happen once it was delivered if I needed help and support since this is our first hot tub. I did need help right away and they came through!!! They made 2 appt's and showed up on time for both. I dealt with Ralph on the phone who arranged an immediate service call for that day and got the problem fixed..that's all one can ask for....the next day their "hot tub" guy (apologize but can't remember his name) was MORE then helpful, personable and patient. STAY AWAY FROM BEST IN BACSTAY AWAY FROM BEST IN BACKYARDS, MAHOPAC! They are dishonest and, the owner, Scott is one of the rudest, verbally abusive people I have ever dealt with in my life! We picked out a play set with a clubhouse. The salesperson brought my husband into the office and wrote up the order for what we thought was the set we had stood in front of and picked out including the clubhouse. When we saw the total price, we decided we had a little extra money to add on another piece and asked the sales person to include it in the order. We did no previous research on the names of each set (the Dream, the Fantasy, etc.) or on how the order should be written up-we assumed it should be the job of the salesperson to correctly write up and price the set we picked out. We trusted that the set we picked out and stood in front of was the set that the sales person wrote up and that the price on the contract was for the same set that we stood in front of outside and chose. At the time, we were so pleased with the service we thought we were receiving, we decided to purchase a shed with this company, and spent, in total, over $5000 with this company. When delivered, the set had no clubhouse. When I contacted the salesperson, he apologized, insisted that this was not his error, that the clubhouse was an additional $599, and said if it was to be included in our set it would have been on the contract we signed. He noted that he deals with hundreds of customers a week and didn't remember us or our specific order. He suggested that it was our misunderstanding and that we got what was written on the contract. His words, "I don't know what you want me to tell ya." I explained that we would have never added the additional item (that we could not have afforded to do so) had the original set we picked out with the clubhouse cost an extra $599. I also explained that we might not have even taken that original set with the clubhouse if we knew the cost of it was $599 more than what we agreed to on the contract. The sales person contacted his "manager" who said he was willing to pay for half of the clubhouse, but would require that we pay for the other half. When I stated that the offer was unacceptable and I was dissatisfied with having to pay for an error we did not make, he gave me the owner's (Scott) 800 number and told me to speak with him. It took me over a week to connect with the owner, Scott, who made no attempt to contact me after several calls and voice mail. Once I did connect with him, he told me that he's been out of the office for a week and usually doesn't deal with issues such as this. In my attempts to explain to him the error that his salesman made and that I felt that the solution offered was unfair, he continuously shouted at me, accused me of trying to cheat his company and take something I didn't pay for for free. Each time I tried to complete a sentence he shouted or talked over me and challenged what I said insisting his salesperson made no error, that I was dishonest, and that I was being unreasonable for not accepting his offer and for asking him to make good on the full order. He told me that he didn't care if I cancelled the entire order and that the $5000 would be no loss to him bc his company has been in business for 25 years. He also told me that they would come and take away the current set (which my 3 year old has fallen in love with) and he would charge me a 20% reshelving fee! If you're looking to buy a play set, shed, or trampoline, I strongly encourage you to STAY AWAY from this company for your own good! Update: Called the salesperson, Naim, today to cancel my pending order, as the owner (Scott) told me before he hung up on me that he didn't need my $5000. Naim informed me that he spoke with Scott last night and that the company is now willing to make good on our original order and deliver the clubhouse at no cost. (He said Scott was "having a bad day-family problems.") He apologized for the error. I thanked him and agreed, noting that making good on our original order was all I was asking for in the first place and wasn't out to get something for free. I told him that I would keep our order as is, provided everything that we ordered is delivered with no further errors. Although I would have preferred a call and apology from the owner for the way he handled this and berated me, it seems the salesperson had enough integrity to apologize on his behalf. So if you're thinking of using this company, just be cautious. I'm giving them a second chance, and hopefully I won't be sorry I did. read more

After 12 years in the house and many estimates from other companies we finally were able to replace our existing deck and add a patio with a fire pit. My husband on a whim walked into Best in Backyards & that afternoon the owner & Bob another sales employee were at our home. They easily saw my husband's vision. We enlarged the deck & created a patio area. The permit process wasn't difficult either. Once contracts were ready we were introduced to Bryan who was the job foreman. Bryan & his crew were wonderful!!! They were here promptly & their work was impeccable. Bryan gave us his cell number & was available to discuss the steps of the project any time.
