He is a master of his craft, and this is an art form that is all but disappearing since everything is being made by machines nowadays. He does it all by hand with a keen eye and experience. He's a very friendly guy who welcomed us and was easy to talk with. He gave us a history of his business, how he came about to doing this, and showed us some the items he was restoring. He does a wonderful job, and his work speaks for itself. It's such an old school type of shop and we loved his stories, along with chatting about business in general.

Owner graciously met me downstairs, removed item from my car and took the time to inspect the item and point out the "gem" I procured as he compared my lounge to the "prefab won't-last-five-years chaise lounges of today. He asked questions on where the item will be stored (high traffic va low traffic areas of home) and when i answered he provided a plethora of fabrics to consider. Most importantly, he did NOT expect full payment that day! Whew!! What a relief. Starting a new business is expensive so not having to make full payment before work commenced made my day. Chair is absolutely a transformation. Comfortable and I can't wait to use as a prop. Love the oatmeal color I chose.

The years had not been kind to the chair, fabric needed to be replaced, padding worn and arm of the chair completely broken. Rich was great from start to finish. Carved legs, lots of details work... $20!!! Needs a little TLC, but not much for what the its worth. Also found a 3 other great pieces quality pieces. The store is jam packed with all kinds of used donated furniture, collectibles, nick nacks, books, you name it, you'll find it there. It's my new GO-TO place for filling in the gaps in my 1777 Chappaqua Quaker home. The owner Pam Stone is a gem as well, making my treasure seeking experience there even more fab. This was my first time purchasing anything from them and it will definitely be my last. I showed up to pick up my items and was given cursory information about where in the warehouse things were stored. It was "self service" which could have been doable with more patience on the part of the charming girl behind the desk. I am being ironic. I was told I couldn't carry the bag I had brought for my purchases but had to use a shopping cart. As the cart bounced up and down over the uneven floors, one of the antique platters I had just put in the cart fell on the floor and shattered. No one came to help or apologize, rather the gentleman who seemed to be the nominal boss yelled at me that it was my fault and they weren't responsible for the breakage before I had even thought to inquire. Also the loud sound of a broken dish only elicited laughter from the charming girl. I should mention that I am a senior citizen. I will never return and I hope to discourage others.

Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time.

Ordered custom furniture for a new home that was being completed. Unfortunately there was an…read moreexplosion in the home just prior to purchasing it and I was forced to postpone the delivery of my furniture order (had nothing occurred the order would have been able to be delivered on time). This is where Ethan Allen customer service fell apart. Other vendors gladly agreed to hold my orders for many months with no issues due to the unusual unforeseen circumstances Ethan Allen refused to extend the time of holding my furniture frequently citing the terms of the contract that I had signed and that it "wasn't their fault". They wanted to force me to pay outrageous storage fees and to pay for the furniture in full, site unseen. I was forced to secure a unit at a storage facility near the property and have the furniture delivered there. This is still an expense, but much cheaper option than what Ethan Allen was going to charge me for storage. They even had the nerve to not deliver the complete order to the storage facility. They had to make a 2nd delivery to the unit a week later with the missing items. The storage unit is near my new home but is a 200 mile round trip from where I am temporarily living. So I had to travel a total of 400 miles because of their negligence with the delivery. Manager Barbara and salesperson Deborah were absolutely abominable and have zero compassion or customer service skills. I realize what occurred fell outside the parameters of their precious contract, but this was a very unique and unusual situation which required them looking past all that to help out a customer. Shame on Ethan Allen. They represent themselves as a high end store...when you are purchasing. Once the purchase has been finalized their true colors shine through. ** I live in Congers NY.
