I've been here a few times but the most recent time was to celebrate my friend's birthday. There were 9 of us and we received excellent service. My friend was able to bring in a birthday cake and the restaurant provided sparkles, a very nice gesture. The portions are huge here! We got bread with a red tomato or red pepper dip, not exactly sure what it is but very tasty. I ordered the mixed shawarma platter but thought the beef and chicken was a little dry. It came with salad but unfortunately, the lettuce and other veggies didn't seem fresh. They were wilted and not crisp. It had an orange dressing that didn't really have a taste. The fatoush however was delicious, it was cold and tasted fresh! Although it wasn't hot outside and the restaurant was only half full, it was a bit too warm inside the restaurant. It did feel uncomfortable at times. It can also get noisy when the restaurant is full. It's in a good location and lots of parking. They don't take reservations so if you are a larger group, try to arrive before the dinner rush! read more

The food never disappoints; it has always tasted great. The ambiance is good, but the service could use some improvement. The lady at the front was highly unprofessional and needs training on how to behave appropriately toward a customer providing feedback about the food or service. Instead of apologizing, she rolled her eyes at us when we told her that we didn't like the mojitos and that our server hadn't informed us they contained artificial mint syrup. I have been going to Best Kabab for about a year! It's very close to work so I've gone there many times with coworkers for lunch! Also I have been there for dinners multiple times. Unfortunately they didn't have reservations when I wanted to book a dinner for 10 people but we went there before 6 pm and we didn't have any issues. It becomes very between 6 to 7 so plan your dinner carefully! The quality and the value of the food is pretty good and far I haven't seen anything that I didn't like! Their homemade ayran is pretty good! Also they always bring fresh bread and ezmeh which are really good! For dessert, try kunufe! It's delicious and I cannot go there and come out without having kunufe! :) I highly recommend this place! read more

We were looking at Halloween decorations, lights & displays on the North side of Edmonton & ended up in the area of Best Kabob on our way back home. We were thrilled to find a place still open to sit inside so late on a Sunday that wasn't just Tim Hortons. To our surprise, it was a very busy place but we still felt well taken care of by our server & other staff. The front has a beauty selection of items to buy while we waited to get confirmation to select a table. That was appreciated as we felt we could choose what worked for our group as we didn't want to sit so close to everyone on the main level (there's a raised area along the windows & back wall). I forgot to ask before selecting a spot if it would be in the section of our friend that was working that night. It didn't seem to matter as all the staff helped each other out from what we could see & we still got to chat a bit with him & learn his recommendations too. The lady officially serving us recommended a few options off the menu & honestly portions are truly huge. I ordered the 3 in 1 Kabob meal and I could have split it but it was nice to have leftovers for the next day late lunch & supper. I'm glad that I ate sparingly (although the kabobs are best fresh), as the baklava is to die for. Save room. Seriously. You won't regret it. It's so fresh that my friend said this was this first time she's had baklava in Canada that's as close to the memory she has from her childhood country. My friends both enjoyed their orders, another 3 in 1 kabob meal & kunufe. Little bit of an odd thing with ordering our drinks though. I've never had to buy a bottle of water at a restaurant unless it was sparkling water or if I was taking a meal to go. Usually eating in restaurants, you're provided a glass of water with your meal. Especially when you mention you need to take pills. This was just a regular sized bottle of water but as I can't really take my supper pills with Turkish tea, it was necessary to purchase. The tea itself was definitely strong & I was feeling awake for several hours afterwards. Even though the cups are very small, they brought us a pot to enjoy more tea throughout the meal. This restaurant would be a bit tricky to navigate with a wheelchair (navigating the layout of the tables & even just reaching the main door) but in a few more weeks they will be moving due to yellowhead construction. So watch for them to be relocated to a new space. From what we heard, it will be off St Albert Trail near the movie theatre. Looking forward to checking out the new space & this place continuing to be a great North side restaurant to enjoy delicious meals. read more

I visited Best Kebab with the girls from work and I'm so happy that they introduced me to this gem! We went for lunch during the weekday and the restaurant was surprisingly busy. Although it was busy, we received really attentive and punctual service. Since it was lunch, I opted for the Kafta Kebab with extra salad (no fries or rice). The portions are huge! It's a great value for the price. The food was delicious but next time I am eyeing the Adana kebab. Can't wait to come back here! read more

We dropped in on a bumping Saturday evening (around 6:30pm). There's an abundance of tables inside but it was very smoky (guess they don't have the greatest ventilation). Service was slow and lethargic. The menu consists of appetizers, salads/soups, entrees and desserts. Entrees are in the $15.95 to $32.95 price range. Wish they still offered lamacun. - Bread and acili ezme - complimentary. Bread was fresh and the ezme (spicy Turkish salsa) was delicious. - 3-in-1 kebab (#2) ($24.95) - all the entrees come with rice (fluffy and buttery), fries, garlic sauce, hummus and salad (dressing was tasty). My favourite was the beef shish. The chicken kebab was a touch on the dry side. - Half shish half adana (#3) ($21.95) - both meats were excellent. Again, the shish was top notch. - Mix shawarma (#11) ($19.95) - half chicken and half beef shawarma. Best of both worlds. - Chicken thigh (#13) ($19.95) - chicken was tender and had a nice char. - Baklava ($6.50) - they only had three pieces left. The baklava was fresh and not too sweet. The pretty lights! They are so unique to this place; as soon as we walked in I was surprised by how big it was. Plenty of seats for larger parties. Clean bathrooms, and a baby change table. No booster seats but they do have high chairs. I wish the menu gave a little more explanation on things but in the end we were quite happy with our orders. We ended up settling on sharing the 4. Chicken wings 10. Beef Shish 13. Chicken Thighs and 15. Chicken shawarma. The food wasn't too spicy for the kids; the wings had a little spice on them that seemed a bit more potent than any of the other dishes we ordered but it was a nice flavour overall. All the chicken was super juicy and cooked really well. The beef was a little more on the dry side, but still tasty. I love that we all got the big plates with sides of garlic dip, hummus, French fries, salad and rice. A complete meal! And the fresh bread that initially came out once we ordered with the bruschetta-like dip really set a high note for us! read more

I found this restaurant thanks to a quick Yelp search. We were seated right away. Staff were quick to stop by to take our orders. Service was efficient for the most part. However, we had to ask for extra menus as they only provided one menu for our table of four. Food was delivered soon after we placed our order. A basket of complimentary bread and spicy tomato spread was dropped off first. Bread was warm and fluffy. I forgot the name of the spread but it was good. Our entrees were dropped off shortly afterwards. I had ordered the kafta kebab which is a ground beef kebab. It was tasty and nicely seasoned. Fries were piping hot. The salad and rice were alright. The hummus and toum complimented well with the bread and meat. The restaurant was busy so this is a good sign that the food is good. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. Love kababs and Turkish good so we came to this spot for dinner. The hummus and red dipping app with bread was really good. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was just okay. The lamb actually had an off taste I've not had before. The chicken and steak were both a little tough and chewy. The portions are huge but I didn't like it enough to eat much of it, which is off for me. The staff were all mostly nice, although one woman was kind of pushy and had a bad attitude. Met some family and my nephews (4yrs + 2yrs old) here for lunch. Place was 10% full 11:30AM on a Tuesday. Staff were very patient and tolerant of the kids. High chairs available. Gender specific bathrooms with stalls. I tried the chicken shawarma plate. Was more than enough for 1 person but just barely enough for 2. French fries were 10/10 super fresh, crisp really really liked them. Salad had a different but good dressing on it - next time I'll ask for it on the side. Hummus was tasty but I needed a bread or more chicken to dip in it! Garlic white stuff was super tasty and we used all of it! Chicken was flavorful, moist and cut up nicely. Rice had a really nice buttery flavor and got rave reviews from everyone present. Overall very good meal. We also tried the chicken wings - good meaty flavorful wings. We got a side of beets - quite bland but at least not completely mush. Quite soft/softer than I like. Starter bread and what tasted like bruschetta was 10/10. This was my first time to Best Kabab, located in North common. The atmosphere is clean, fresh, modern and elegant. It was a very comfortable visit. The service was lovely, we had probably 4 different people checking on us, or offering us tea. They were all very polite and friendly. They brought out a fresh bread appetizer which was so delicious. I had the chicken kabab, my friend had chicken shawarma... both were equally delicious. The portions are huge... I mean HUGE. My friend and I could have shared one. (Especially because the bread was filling). The owner helped us when we went to pay, and he was so friendly. This was a wonderful experience and I will be taking my husband. read more

I was here for lunch with a fairly large group. There were about 15 of us...and from the very beginning, it was a great event. Large groups are always a challenge for the server but she was wonderful. She was very patient in explaining all the options, not just food but the coffee options. She brought extra spoons so we could try unfamiliar dishes and drinks. The food was wonderful. This is a family run place and they use Turkish women in the kitchen to prepare the food so it is tasty and authentic. This was my first time here but it will not be the last. The place was very clean. Service was attentive and friendly and the food...amazing. I also have vegan children and they would be happy with the offerings here. Our orders came just as we were finishing with the bread. My 3 in 1 was pretty delicious and is a huge portion which would be good shared between 2 people as well. It had 3 different meats, chicken, beef and lamb. I HIGHLY recommend trying the Bahlava, it is the only place in Edmonton I have found where it tasted just like how you would get back home, it is truly authentic and fresh. Great service, great food ! My wife had the Turkish Style Donair (#19)and I had a combo of shish and adana (#3). The plates were full to the brim with basmati rice, salad , humus, pita and really good portions of perfectly cooked meat. Both dishes were great ! Prior to the meal we were brought complimentary bread and salsa and later we received complimentary tea. In a world where many restos have forgotten the importance of good service (yet expect an 18-20% tip), this place is a nice little gem. Kindness in the world is underrated. We'll be back ! read more

Wow! Is this place busy or what! Going here on a Sunday at 5..had a tough time finding a place to park. Eventually got one and had to wait for a seating fit 15 as we were invited to a dinner here. The staff is super pleasant! Ambiance is okay and washrooms are okay. We ordered the spinach and feta Pide, beef pide, and feta cheese pide. They were okay, I have had a lot better. The Kibba were also okay. The dinner was good, the chicken kabab and thighs were good. I loved the kunafe dessert and the baklava was also good. We received complimentary tea which was very nice. Excellent shish kebobs. My granddaughter had lamb and I had chicken. Large portions and nicely done. Both lamb and chicken were tender and the rice was lightly flavoured and quite good. Hummus and garlic whip of some kind as garnish were delightful. Service was mediocre to say the least, we were asked what we liked to drink and we both ordered water expecting ice water like the table across the room only to be up sold to overpriced bottled nestle for a whooping $3/bottle (it was on sale for 3$ for a 12 pack that week). Good Food, Bad Service. My bf and I love to order from here for the kebabs and kunufe but whenever we come, it takes 5-10 minutes for our order to be taken. Food comes quick, then once we finish it takes another 10 minutes to get boxes/bill. They dismiss you when walking by and don't usually come when you wave or make eye contact. The rare occasions where service is a little better, the manager is present. We stick to take out from now on. read more

This place was delish! I have driven by a million times and thought about stopping but didn't maybe I should have. The inside isn't exciting, pretty basic BUT thats not the point. The service is good and the food was great. I had Adana, lunch size but even bigger would have been better! The meat, rice and salad were all amazing. Not sure why they give fries too... Came in here purely because we were so impressed with how well they changed the signage from the previous business. Seriously. It's impressive! Service was a bit slow, but friendly - only one person working the front and the kitchen took a while to get the food out. Server was very patient answering questions from every table. Is it the "best" kabab in town? No. But we tried the lamacun ($3.25!!) which is a giant crispy flatbread with ground meat and herbs - kind of like a pizza. My new favourite thing!! So crispy! So flavourful! SO CHEAP!! Loved everything about it. The rest of the food was just ok. They do serve the dinner platters with a garlic yogurt-y sauce that was also awesome. When we finished, we were each given a piece of fresh baklava, which was a really nice treat. To recap, the lamacun and the garlic sauce were amazeballs. The rest is ok. Service was friendly but a bit slow. I'd totally go back for that flatbread though. Totally worth the trip for a million of those. read more

Their name isn't a lie, they really have the best, most amazing kabobs (and other foods). Always a friendly greeting and the skewers are absolutely delicious. We discovered this delightful restaurant while waiting for our car to be repaired around the corner. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered hummus which was served with fresh bread and esme (salsa), and the 3 in 1 Kebab plate (the plate was large and included salad, rice, French fries, hummus and a wonderful garlic sauce). Two of us shared the meal and there was so much that we couldn't eat it all. The service was friendly- outstanding. You don't have to worry about getting COVID here. The restaurant is spotless, everyone wears masks, the booths have plexiglass dividers. They also have take-out and delivery. Would highly recommend. read more

The best place for Mediterranean and Turkish food. The service is incredible and quick and super nice. They'll serve you water, Baklava, and Turkish tea free of charge. The food is in large plates and looks delicious and well made, and tastes just like that too. I always go here with family and friends and I'm glad I tried it. I was told to check this place out for the kabob so we went on a week day evening. There were some hits and some misses. It was a very quiet evening for them because we only saw 2 other couples dining throughout our visit. With that few guests you'd think the service would be great but she started off by forgetting the soda we ordered. She brought us water so we decided not to get the pop afterall. The table we sat at was not really clean which is an automatic turn off and there were 2 lazy flies that kept landing around us. The Thai sirracha bottle was kinda grimey and when I used it the nozzle popped off. As you can see lots of thing went wrong. We ordered a platter with 3 skewers (lamb, chicken, and kabob) with no rice and extra fries. I asked about their salad since I prefer tabouli but they said they couldn't do it. The skewers looked like a decent portion but the chicken was over cooked and dry. The Lamb and kabob were cooked well. Instead of a classic pita they gave us a nice piece of bread that was warmed up. This place is trying to compete with another kabob place up the street which has been around for a lot longer and has built up a great client base. Turquaz has better more consistent quality food,, better service, newer location, has great parking, lots of seating, and a cool pop machine. I definitely won't be back to Kabob house when there is a better alternative for the same price 10 blocks away. read more
