I have been going to Best Kabab for about a year! It's very close to work so I've gone there many times with coworkers for lunch! Also I have been there for dinners multiple times. Unfortunately they didn't have reservations when I wanted to book a dinner for 10 people but we went there before 6 pm and we didn't have any issues. It becomes very between 6 to 7 so plan your dinner carefully! The quality and the value of the food is pretty good and far I haven't seen anything that I didn't like! Their homemade ayran is pretty good! Also they always bring fresh bread and ezmeh which are really good! For dessert, try kunufe! It's delicious and I cannot go there and come out without having kunufe! :) I highly recommend this place!

Kafta Kebab - sub fries & rice for extra salad

I visited Best Kebab with the girls from work and I'm so happy that they introduced me to this gem! We went for lunch during the weekday and the restaurant was surprisingly busy. Although it was busy, we received really attentive and punctual service. Since it was lunch, I opted for the Kafta Kebab with extra salad (no fries or rice). The portions are huge! It's a great value for the price. The food was delicious but next time I am eyeing the Adana kebab. Can't wait to come back here!

We were looking at Halloween decorations, lights & displays on the North side of Edmonton & ended up in the area of Best Kabob on our way back home. We were thrilled to find a place still open to sit inside so late on a Sunday that wasn't just Tim Hortons. To our surprise, it was a very busy place but we still felt well taken care of by our server & other staff. The front has a beauty selection of items to buy while we waited to get confirmation to select a table. That was appreciated as we felt we could choose what worked for our group as we didn't want to sit so close to everyone on the main level (there's a raised area along the windows & back wall). I forgot to ask before selecting a spot if it would be in the section of our friend that was working that night. It didn't seem to matter as all the staff helped each other out from what we could see & we still got to chat a bit with him & learn his recommendations too. The lady officially serving us recommended a few options off the menu & honestly portions are truly huge. I ordered the 3 in 1 Kabob meal and I could have split it but it was nice to have leftovers for the next day late lunch & supper. I'm glad that I ate sparingly (although the kabobs are best fresh), as the baklava is to die for. Save room. Seriously. You won't regret it. It's so fresh that my friend said this was this first time she's had baklava in Canada that's as close to the memory she has from her childhood country. My friends both enjoyed their orders, another 3 in 1 kabob meal & kunufe. Little bit of an odd thing with ordering our drinks though. I've never had to buy a bottle of water at a restaurant unless it was sparkling water or if I was taking a meal to go. Usually eating in restaurants, you're provided a glass of water with your meal. Especially when you mention you need to take pills. This was just a regular sized bottle of water but as I can't really take my supper pills with Turkish tea, it was necessary to purchase. The tea itself was definitely strong & I was feeling awake for several hours afterwards. Even though the cups are very small, they brought us a pot to enjoy more tea throughout the meal. This restaurant would be a bit tricky to navigate with a wheelchair (navigating the layout of the tables & even just reaching the main door) but in a few more weeks they will be moving due to yellowhead construction. So watch for them to be relocated to a new space. From what we heard, it will be off St Albert Trail near the movie theatre. Looking forward to checking out the new space & this place continuing to be a great North side restaurant to enjoy delicious meals.

We were planning to go for dinner at another place but it was closed for a celebration. Decided to try Best Kebab, a restaurant that specializes in Turkish cuisine. We dropped in on a bumping Saturday evening (around 6:30pm). There's an abundance of tables inside but it was very smoky (guess they don't have the greatest ventilation). Service was slow and lethargic. The menu consists of appetizers, salads/soups, entrees and desserts. Entrees are in the $15.95 to $32.95 price range. Wish they still offered lamacun. - Bread and acili ezme - complimentary. Bread was fresh and the ezme (spicy Turkish salsa) was delicious. - 3-in-1 kebab (#2) ($24.95) - all the entrees come with rice (fluffy and buttery), fries, garlic sauce, hummus and salad (dressing was tasty). My favourite was the beef shish. The chicken kebab was a touch on the dry side. - Half shish half adana (#3) ($21.95) - both meats were excellent. Again, the shish was top notch. - Mix shawarma (#11) ($19.95) - half chicken and half beef shawarma. Best of both worlds. - Chicken thigh (#13) ($19.95) - chicken was tender and had a nice char. - Baklava ($6.50) - they only had three pieces left. The baklava was fresh and not too sweet. Really well done. Pleasantly surprised by Best Kebab. Would come back for their liver shish and lamb chop plates.

The pretty lights! They are so unique to this place; as soon as we walked in I was surprised by how big it was. Plenty of seats for larger parties. Clean bathrooms, and a baby change table. No booster seats but they do have high chairs. I wish the menu gave a little more explanation on things but in the end we were quite happy with our orders. We ended up settling on sharing the 4. Chicken wings 10. Beef Shish 13. Chicken Thighs and 15. Chicken shawarma. The food wasn't too spicy for the kids; the wings had a little spice on them that seemed a bit more potent than any of the other dishes we ordered but it was a nice flavour overall. All the chicken was super juicy and cooked really well. The beef was a little more on the dry side, but still tasty. I love that we all got the big plates with sides of garlic dip, hummus, French fries, salad and rice. A complete meal! And the fresh bread that initially came out once we ordered with the bruschetta-like dip really set a high note for us!

I found this restaurant thanks to a quick Yelp search. We were seated right away. Staff were quick to stop by to take our orders. Service was efficient for the most part. However, we had to ask for extra menus as they only provided one menu for our table of four. Food was delivered soon after we placed our order. A basket of complimentary bread and spicy tomato spread was dropped off first. Bread was warm and fluffy. I forgot the name of the spread but it was good. Our entrees were dropped off shortly afterwards. I had ordered the kafta kebab which is a ground beef kebab. It was tasty and nicely seasoned. Fries were piping hot. The salad and rice were alright. The hummus and toum complimented well with the bread and meat. The restaurant was busy so this is a good sign that the food is good. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. Plenty of parking available on the plaza.

Love kababs and Turkish good so we came to this spot for dinner. The hummus and red dipping app with bread was really good. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was just okay. The lamb actually had an off taste I've not had before. The chicken and steak were both a little tough and chewy. The portions are huge but I didn't like it enough to eat much of it, which is off for me. The staff were all mostly nice, although one woman was kind of pushy and had a bad attitude. Not sure I'd some back to this spot.

Met some family and my nephews (4yrs + 2yrs old) here for lunch. Place was 10% full 11:30AM on a Tuesday. Staff were very patient and tolerant of the kids. High chairs available. Gender specific bathrooms with stalls. I tried the chicken shawarma plate. Was more than enough for 1 person but just barely enough for 2. French fries were 10/10 super fresh, crisp really really liked them. Salad had a different but good dressing on it - next time I'll ask for it on the side. Hummus was tasty but I needed a bread or more chicken to dip in it! Garlic white stuff was super tasty and we used all of it! Chicken was flavorful, moist and cut up nicely. Rice had a really nice buttery flavor and got rave reviews from everyone present. Overall very good meal. We also tried the chicken wings - good meaty flavorful wings. We got a side of beets - quite bland but at least not completely mush. Quite soft/softer than I like. Starter bread and what tasted like bruschetta was 10/10. Bread was soft and fresh. 100% would order this again (if it wasn't free).

This was my first time to Best Kabab, located in North common. The atmosphere is clean, fresh, modern and elegant. It was a very comfortable visit. The service was lovely, we had probably 4 different people checking on us, or offering us tea. They were all very polite and friendly. They brought out a fresh bread appetizer which was so delicious. I had the chicken kabab, my friend had chicken shawarma... both were equally delicious. The portions are huge... I mean HUGE. My friend and I could have shared one. (Especially because the bread was filling). The owner helped us when we went to pay, and he was so friendly. This was a wonderful experience and I will be taking my husband.

Kunufe dessert. One of the best things I've ever had. If you like middle eastern Baklava, this is for you!
    Aleshia A.

Great food! The chicken thighs are so juicy and flavourful. Huge portions for the price...we always have leftovers. The toum garlic sauce is like a fluffy cloud! You can't eat here without trying the kunufe dessert...hot, sweet, salty, buttery, crispy, smooth n cheesy, syrupy - it has everything you could ever want in a dessert! High energy atmosphere, friendly staff.

This place was busting on a Sunday evening. Service was very friendly and our orders came out very quickly. To start, we were given fresh bread and some sort of dip thst had a hint of heat in it. Our orders came just as we were finishing with the bread. My 3 in 1 was pretty delicious and is a huge portion which would be good shared between 2 people as well. It had 3 different meats, chicken, beef and lamb. I HIGHLY recommend trying the Bahlava, it is the only place in Edmonton I have found where it tasted just like how you would get back home, it is truly authentic and fresh. The one thing I found a bit odd, is that for water, you had to buy a bottle, they didn't offer free water.

Went here last week with a friend and the service was terrible.. friendly but just not attentive. I can honestly say I won't be back. The food was blah as well.

I'm someone who will drive to any corner of the city (and beyond) in the name of food and this was…read moreevident when I recently found myself in The Palisades, an area that is just about as far north as you can get in Edmonton (and no where remotely close to where I live). If the Edmonton Journal is going to name Paramount Fine Foods as the Best Lebanese Restaurant 2021, I'm gonna try it! I made the trek across town on a Sunday evening, looking forward to the authentically fresh flavours of the Middle East that Paramount boasts about so enthusiastically. Founded in 2007 by Mohamad Fakih, a Lebanese-Canadian entrepreneur, the first Paramount Fine Foods location opened in Mississauga, Ontario. The company now comprises of over 75 restaurants, becoming the fastest-growing Middle Eastern food chain in Canada. You'll find Edmonton's location in a rather large complex on the edge of town. (Not kidding, you can see the empty fields nearby.) The restaurant's modern exterior and tall stature includes a small patio space in the front before entering into the expansive interior. I was surprised by the spacious, airy dining area designed with taste in mind. Dark wood, tiled columns, and pops of rich colour set the stage for what feels like a higher-end dining experience. I noted some interesting features in the space which included a kids playground (I swear that this place isn't a defunct McDonald's) and a prayer room. Paramount was quite quiet on our visit and our server was gracious and attentive. The menu is a lot larger than I would have expected and I enjoyed flipping through its colourful pages; from starters, to salads, to wraps and mains. Plus platters that are perfect for large groups and even breakfast on the weekends! (I'm super intrigued about the breakfast and would love to try it!) As one does, I started my journey with a drink and zeroed in immediately on something called the "Paramount Special." It sounds like the thing to get! Topped with almonds, crushed pistachios, ashta cream and honey, I really wanted to try this epic beverage! However, our server regrettably informed me that they couldn't make it. It wasn't clear why but I assume that they didn't have all of the ingredients on hand? This was honestly the only low point of the entire meal. Instead, I settled for Strawberry Mango Juice (A blend of fresh mango and strawberries - $8.99). The drink actually took quite some time to arrive, meanwhile almost all of the rest of our food showed up before it did. However, it was worth the wait because this blend of fresh lush mangoes and ripe juicy strawberries was wonderful. You could tell that the beverage contained real fruit and I enjoyed the swirling kaleidoscope of bright colours. The rest of our order was delivered to the table lightening-quick! The feast began with the Mezza Plate (Choice of three: world-famous hummus, moutabbal, labneh, muhammara, or tabbouleh - $13.99) which seemed like a great option to try a variety of Paramount's dips. Served with the most pillowy freshly baked homemade pita bread, straight out of their wood-burning oven! I honestly could've set my head down on one of those pitas and had a nap. In choosing our dips we went for the Moutabbal, Muhammara, and Labneh. (We did not select the hummus because it was included in something else that we ordered and we opted out of the tabbouleh because we were already ordering a different salad.) Circling back to the pita bread, it arrived warm and fluffy. Tearing off pieces and using it to scoop up the various dips was a complete joy. The Moutabbal, made with fire roasted eggplant blended with tahini and garlic and topped off with fresh parsley, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh pomegranate seeds, felt familiar. Very similar to baba ganoush. However, ours was not topped with parsley or pomegranate seeds as described. Regardless, I loved the true fire-roasted flavour of the eggplant which came through in such a bold and beautiful way. Next was the Muhammara, made with fire roasted red peppers, crushed mixed walnuts, zesty onions, authentic spices, and herbs and topped off with extra virgin olive oil and parsley. (There was no parsley.) This was the dip that I knew the least about... And that I loved the most! The flavour was big and exciting and I loved the nuttiness! This one was an unexpected surprise and I would order it every time. Lastly, the Labneh, made with thick creamy labneh (a type of yogurt cheese) mixed with garlic, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, and topped off with their authentic zaatar seasoning, was also familiar. (Shout out to The Happy Camel, who's labneh I often purchase!) The version at Paramount was very enjoyable and I loved the creamy-cool texture. I swear that I could taste some mint in there as well. Some of the best salads come out of the Middle East - think tabbouleh and fattoush - and I had to order the latter to add some greens to the table. Paramount's Fattoush ($12.99) seemed like the way to go. I lov

"Not so elevated Middle Eastern Cuisine"…read more A terrific visit last November was memorable enough to have us crave Paramount Fine Foods while in Edmonton this evening. The big sign has the slogan " Elevated Middle Eastern Cuisine " thus raising the expectations we have had,, stemming from dozens and dozens of previous Paramount visits In Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver over the years... The decor is still very nice, four+ years or so after this Edmonton branch's opening; - modern, fast yet casual with table service. Tonight, the service was at times very slow and curt. We started with the lentil soup ($7.99) which came in a lovely ceramic bowl with deep fried pita chips. The soup was not liquidy; it had a very thick, "pudding-like" consistency and was super salty. It was definitely not fresh and appeared like it could have been reheated after being withdrawn from a cold, refrigerated bucket; not good. Next came the beef pie - which was nothing but a thin layer of ground beef on way too much dough ($6.99). Paramount is famous for its tabuli salad and of course we ordered it! (($10.99). Once it arrived to our table, we were shocked at the look of wilted parsley and the lack of dressing (it needed more tomatoes, lemon juice and olive oil to revive it); total dissapointment. "Elevated cuisine" means that you would assemble the salad as it is ordered for maximum freshness; ours tasted like it was sitting in a refrigerated tub for several days; no! No! No! The main course, the bbq beef platter ($22.99) had seven tiny yet very tender sirloin steak cubes; the remainder of the plate had a lot of filler rice and pickled beets, dill, onions and a 2 oz container of humus; very good yes - but the portion of meat was tiny for the price. The star of the meal was definitely the shareable dessert: The knnaffe Nablusieh ($9.99): It is a subtly sweet baked cheese dessert topped with baklava style shredded filo strips and pistachios; and then, it is drenched in syrupy rose water; this lived up to what Paramount is known for in Ontario - simply delicious!!!!!! With the abundance of similar eateries in Edmonton, Paramount Fine Foods didn't live up to its slogan as, during tonight's visit, there was nothing " elevated " about its Middle Eastern cuisine. Hopefully, they will get it together moving forward - so the quality of the food served at this branch can actually live up to their founding Ontario roots. Here at this Edmonton Paramount, The higher menu prices do not match the overall very average experience offered... we know Paramount Fine Foods has the ability to "wow" us; maybe next time!

Maghawee Lebanese Grill specializes in Lebanese cuisine. The focus of their menu is kabobs and pitas and everything is cooked while you wait. No warmed up or steam tray food here. The price was a bit high for lunch, but I wanted it. As I waited in my banquette I listened to Lebanese music coming from the music videos on the wall mounted TV's. The server brought my lunch to me and then I realized why it was the price it was. Warm steamed pits, garlic dip, grilled chicken kabob, humus, tabbouleh, Lebanese veggies and cinnamon rice was what was for lunch. Yum! I was half way through my meal when the server came to check on me - good service, not too pushy and not not interested. Many people came and went during the course of my lunch for dine in and take out, which in my books is a good sign.
