Received a couples here with my wife. We have made reservations here while visiting Santa Cruz and we want to make a stop here every time if we can. They are very professional. They know exactly what they're doing. I'm 6 foot 250 lbs and those ladies beat the snot out of me in such a good way. Maybe educate yourself on what a Thai massage is before you go. It's not a fufu fluffy massage. They're there to work on you. We both felt so amazing afterwards and we're so happy we chose to go there. This business is aptly named; it is the Best! I made an appointment this morning for a 90-minute Thai Massage. When I arrived, I filled out the required paperwork. And that is the first of many reasons why it is the best, it is a very detailed questionnaire, which is necessary for them to properly give the correct massage and not do any damage to any affected areas you might have. My 67-year-old body has seen its day after some major health complications, so they were able to give me a more custom massage for my exact needs and found numerous additional kinks that were properly massaged out to help renew my muscles. Wow, this was one of my best massages ever. Felt very comfortable expressing if I needed more or less pressure (which sometimes I don't feel comfortable doing). I really wanted to like this spa. I am a fan of Thai massages. They had really good reviews here on Yelp, and I hate that I am ruining it for them. So, take this review with a grain of salt, as this may just be a one off. This spa is tucked away in a bunch of offices, so it was a little difficult to find. However, my fault. The woman who booked my appointment did try to offer me directions, and I said I got it. Speaking of the appointment. I would have made the appointment online myself except it required a credit card to book the appointment although it says no charge. If you are not charging for the appointment, I thought it was unnecessary to provide a credit card. Booked the appointment on the phone, and no credit card was required. The spa is very warm and welcoming. My masseuse Tammy offered me some slippers, so I can take of my shoes while I fill out the first time visitor form. She even reminded me to leave my socks on. Onto the form, I filled out the necessary parts of it. Not sure why they needed my home addresses, when it was already asking for my email and cell phone. I specifically mentioned in the form in 3 sections to avoid my tail bone. It is very, very sensitive, and it gets very uncomfortable when pressure is applied in the area. When I handed her the form, I mentioned again to avoid my tail bone. She nodded which I took that she understood. Before she started, again I said my tail bone is very, very sensitive and just avoid it. Again, she agreed. When she massaged me, she kept going on my tail bone asking me if it hurts, to which I responded a resounding YES! She kept going back to it, as if she is motivated to massage the pain away. She kept asking if it feels better, to which I replied, NO. At a couple of points, she even used her elbows and lower arms on it. She was leaning on it with her elbows while she massaged my upper back. I almost stopped the massage coz it was getting unbearable. But I toughed it out, and she eventually laid off of it. I've had Thai massages before, and the stretching part just felt so good. With her, all the stretching part felt like she was trying to separate some parts of my body from my main trunk. It was uncomfortable and not very relaxing and did not release the tension. My tail bone was very, very sore the next day. So sore it was painful to sit, and I had to do an hour and a half drive back home from Santa Cruz. My upper arms were also sore from her using her lower arms rolling on it. She is a very nice lady, so I still gave her a good tip. I may give it another chance if I am back in the area, but if there is no improvement, I will definitely stop the massage! read more

This massage was life changing. These passed few months I have been moving and driving a lot. I also have to sit at my desk for work. A long overdue review. This was my fourth visit at Best Thai Spa and I can't gate keep - these have been the best massages I've ever had. These incredible women released deep knots and tension I've had for over a decade. The care, skill, and professionalism I experienced here is unmatched. I'm 30 y.o, fit, do yoga, and have received massages for the past 15 years and no other therapist (sports medicine, PT included) has given me the relief that I've received here. I came here because of the wonderful reviews but left with an unfortunate experience. I have been dealing with some neck and jaw issues and in the intake write down and mentioned that that is an area I'd like to have focused on during the massage. This wasn't done and instead it felt like random techniques everywhere except my neck and jaw that didn't feel good. I didn't feel any physical relief at the end of the massage and left feeling very confused about all of the good reviews. They were kind and professional, just no therapeutic benefit. My both was popping and cracking in ways I had never experienced, and the next day I woke up immediately thinking to go back for more. Just recieved the best couples massage here! My boyfriend and I were greeted with beautiful flowers and towels upon our arrival. My massage was very thoughtful towards the areas in which I hold tension. There were times where my massage was a little too hard (I did ask for hard massage), but communication was easy with my therapist and it was perfect after. Nancy worked on my boyfriend and "Ping", (I believe was her name) worked on me. Although there are different massages to choose from, which are listed in the short questionnaire you fill out, once they begin the to massage, they massage you according to what they feel you need, how your body is. Best massage we have ever had. We were a walk-in couples massage. They were able to take us about 2 hours later. It was worth the wait. The massages were both fabulous. We both really liked that they respected our wishes. My husband has a hurt shoulder and she did a great job not aggravating the injury. I requested medium pressure and it was perfect. I've gotten massages here twice now and I cannot recommend it enough. I have incredibly tight muscles and find it hard to find relief through massage guns or stretching at home. Thai massage novice here; I have typically had Swedish massage in the past but if you need more pressure than you can likely handle Thai massages. Nancy was incredibly patient with me as I asked her advice on which massage to try, and for the price I think it was well worth it! Location is incredibly convenient as it's right next to the Trader Joe's downtown.
