We paid about $400, I'm estimating here, for 2 people to experience an hour massage and time in their hot tub room. We never felt rushed, even though we came on labor day weekend, so that was really nice. I agree with a lot of the reviews that say the hot tub has some wear and tear, it does, but we were still very comfortable and happy. I loved looked into the gardens and appreciated that there weren't mosquitos in our room. I did fear that as someone who attracts them like flies to honey. I'm happy to report no bites reported! We both enjoyed our massages. I don't know if this matters to you, but all massages are in single rooms. I had a wonderful massage and was so bummed when it was over!! We both had great massages. I had made a reservation for a Saturday in December (4:30 PM), which was pretty easy to do, ~2-3 weeks ahead of time. Getting here from San Jose was quite easy with minimal traffic on the 17. There is a paid parking lot right in front that was pretty spacious by the time we arrived just after 4:15 PM. Checking in at the spa was easy - we got to select 2 teas to drink, both caffeinated and non-caffeinated options, while we had our spa room for the 90 minutes. We were able to use our room as soon as our appointment time began. Once you are in your room, it is clothing optional. The spa does provide limitless towels and tea during the 90 minutes. The shower was available in the corner of the room with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash just in front of the hot tub. There is calming spa music playing and the room is open, facing a luscious green garden. 4:30 PM during the winter was perfect as we were able to have both day time light and evening views during our 90 minutes. Rating this spa at 4 stars. I wish there were 60 minute options. It was $170 for 2 to use their cedar lined sauna and hot tub for 90 minutes, which was great, but I think at the hour mark I was pretty relaxed and ready to go. Plus if the cost were a little cheaper for a 60 minute time slot, I would be much more encouraged to go more. I also wish there was a slightly better layout for a dry area for changing. Once you shower and get in/out of the hot tub, the surrounding floor is pretty wet and it made it a little hard for me to get my clothes and boots back on after our time. The only other spa I've been to similar to this was Watercourse Way in Palo Alto and that spa is slightly cheaper and the room booked there came with a cold plunge and a lounging bed, so definitely a little more bang for your buck there vs. here. Overall, I had a pleasant time. My favorite part was definitely the open wall overlooking the garden. Put myself on the notification list for the Gemini Package and sure enough 2 days before the day I wanted a spot opened up! I almost went to something similar in Palo Alto, but it was double the price. Came here to celebrate my boyfriend and I's 6 year anniversary with a little R & R. I loved it. It's very much like having a private onsen in Japan! The package was $295 for 2 people & came with the hot tub in the "Air" room & sauna for an hour, followed by a 50 minute massage. I do gotta say, if you want to do this, I think it's best to do it during the winter time so that you can cool off more when you get out. The day we went was a perfect beach weather day about 75° and I love me a hot bath, but this was a bit too warm for me to sit in for that full hour. Before going in you can choose one tea each for you to sip on while you're relaxing in the room. There were baskets in the sauna with towels, slippers, & a robe. Since it is completely private, swimwear is optional. You must rinse & wash at the in-room shower before going into the tub. They have lavender scented shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The hot tub felt clean, jets can be controlled by a dial in the tub. The jet pressure was pretty strong. Tbh, we barely used the sauna, mainly used to dry off at the end. Just being in the hot tub itself on a warm day was hot enough. The sauna is lined with cedar wood so no water was needed to make it more steamy or hot, you can control the temperature right outside of the door. It was nice just looking out with a view of their bamboo garden and it makes for taking nice pictures! The couples massage was in separate rooms, which we didn't care too much for. They had me go with the girl and my bf with the guy. I described I like hard pressure and I thought I was just gonna get a rub down but she went medium hard and it was perfect. Probably one of the better massages I've had in all the massages I've been to, my bf can say the same. We were lucky to find parking right in front, but plenty of metered places on the street to park. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant. We booked room 1, which includes a 70 minute massage and 70 minutes enjoying the sauna-shower, bath, and two teas. Our massage therapists came out, greeted us, and led us to our room. They asked us about any problem areas and preferences. My massage therapist was named Beverly and my fiancé's massage therapist was named Patricia (I think). Both of the massage therapists were friendly and gave amazing massages! Beverly went above and beyond my expectations and incorporated some stretches that helped relieve my lower back pain. She also gave me some advice to fix my weak ankles. After the massage, my fiance and I sat in the sauna and showered before sitting in the tub. I enjoyed looking at the garden while my fiance liked spraying his face with the shower nozzle in the tub. There was an area of my lower back that she rly focused on that ended up being sore after but I'm not sure if it was because I had recently hurt it. This place was strange. We arrived during what must have been a shift change, with employees yelling down the halls at each other, "Have a great shift!" Not exactly a relaxing start. We booked the Room one experience. My husband enjoyed his massage, although he did say his masseuse was wearing gloves. I did not enjoy my massage. The man who did my massage had shaved arms, and it felt like sandpaper every time he brushed against my back. Combined with the constant noise, it was impossible to relax. You can hear everything -- talking, cleaning, phones ringing, even trash cans being emptied. Thinking back to how loud it was when we walked in, I couldn't help but imagine all the guests in their rooms hearing the same shouting. The massage bed also shifted and creaked every time pressure was applied, and his shoes were sticking to the floor. It was honestly the least relaxing massage I've ever had. About halfway through, they ran the soaking tub, which helped drown out the outside noise. After the massage, you can enjoy the steam room, shower, and soaking tub, which were all very nice. We went at night, and the view with the lights outside was beautiful. tl;dr The Gemini package is 100% worth it especially if you enjoy massages and dry saunas. Unless you value a steam shower and an extra 20 minutes or so for massages and hot tub/steam shower time at $200, the Room One experience is not worth it. The Gemini package though? It was most unique massage/spa experience I've had and best bang for your buck. My now husband came here for our 5 year dating anniversary and again just after we got married this year. We had an appointment for our Gemini package 5 years ago and that went amazingly, but this time when we checked ahead, appointments for weekends for the Gemini package went out for months so we weren't able to snag a spot in advance. We tried our luck the day of and walked in, hoping there would be cancellations. The only appointment available was the Room One experience, so we took it to celebrate. Having experienced both the Gemini and Room One packages, the Gemini is by far a better deal. To me, the Room One package would need to be less expensive by at $100 or provide incremental benefits to be worth it at its current price point. Tea House Spa provides a very unique massage and onsen experience that is definitely worth the trip to DT Santa Cruz. My partner wanted to surprise me with a cute spa date in Santa Cruz to celebrate another anniversary. We were pretty excited about this since we've been seeing this on TikTok. However, it was quite a disappointment when we went We left 2 hours early since we're from SF and unfortunately the roads were closed so there was extreme amounts of traffic. We ended up being 15 minutes late and we did call beforehand letting them know. They were super nice on the phone and was accommodating! When we got there, the lobby is extremely tiny with just the reception and then 2 hallways behind it. We were introduced to our room (we got the Room 1 package - includes 60 minute massage, a steam shower, and a tub). The room is very very small. Literally 2 massaging tables, a tub, and a steam shower on the side. There was really not much space to walk in for 2 people. The massage was the most disappointing part... my masseuse asked what bothered me and I let her know my whole back and neck usually has most tension. She was pretty elderly and massaged me pretty lightly. It felt like she was rubbing me the whole time and didn't even touch my neck. After the massage, they turned on the tub water and went out. We had an hour and a half to soak in the tub and wash off. Tea was whatever but the steam shower was pretty cool. They had body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. They also had a few a bathroom amenities like hair ties and a shower cap. For $600 including tip ... it was definitely not worth it. You can get MANY better massages elsewhere. read more

Me and my husband loved this place, but we're done. After our last time (March 30, 8:30 pm) we decided that it's too much. We had bad experience here once before, but it was mistake with water and chlorine, but no one was mean, manager connected with us and situation was resolved. Last time was completely disaster. New girl on reception was rude, behaved like a racist about my accent which is not only unprofessional it's just unacceptable. Water in hot tub was like insane boiling in chlorine. The way how this girl talked with us about our experience is just out of question... "we are measuring proportions", as I witnessed she just added chlorine to the tub without measuring it properly. We're done and we're never coming back. We were regular guests for more than 2 years. read more
