He entered his credit card and booked round trip flights for a deal of $282 but never received the confirmed tickets -- instead he was called and pressured to "upgrade" his flight because what he booked "doesn't exist anymore (time/date/airport has changed" or "doesn't allow even personal item to carry on". He asked to cancel the transaction immediately but they said his booking is "nonrefundable". So he hesitated and they made him agree by email consent to book a more expensive "upgraded" reservation for total $499 but had to change the flight date/time. He then received his flight confirmation for Frontier and Southwest by email. When my dad told me what happened, I did my research learning about this scam company preying on people and pressuring/misleading them to pay more for fake upgrades. They booked him a one-way Frontier departure flight and one-way Southwest return flight. I entered the flight confirmation codes onto these official websites and saw they had listed "myofficefly786@gmail.com" as my dad's email which is likely why my dad never received his tickets instantly after initially booking -- they used his credit card to purchase the flights which went to their gmail account and unless my dad agreed to their fake upgrades, they wouldn't release the tickets he paid for!!!!!!! I looked at the separate flight purchase receipts on the official websites and saw the prices were lower than what the company charged him. I looked up baggage policies for Frontier and Southwest and saw personal item carry-ons are FREE for all fares unlike what they told my dad when they coerced him to pay more for that. I now had enough evidence to request a refund complaint. My dad and I called their general line 888-510-5905 and they made me speak to 3 people (all who have a thick Indian accent), all who were saying the booking was "nonrefundable" and your dad agreed to these upgrades by email. I was firm with our refund request after looking up my dad's flights on the official airline websites and saw the actual receipts paid and baggage policy did not match what they told and charged him; I also mentioned the shady gmail linked to my dad's purchase when it should've been his email to receive the tickets as well as threatened to report their company to the feds and media. I think that made them uneasy, so to negotiate, they refunded their additional upgrades/service fees of $217 claiming the $282 used for the airfare was nonrefundable which we accepted and the refund showed up on his credit card account immediately after the phone call which took 40 min total. My dad then changed his credit card number and updated the email on the reservation so they wouldn't alter it any further. I get a call back stating that the flight is not available but she can change my flight for the same price from September 2 September 20 when I ticket I booked it for August 12 to September 9. I did a search for cheap flights on the internet for a flight from Miami to Pensacola between Jul 4th, 2026 and Jul 7th, 2026, and ended up on CheapFlights and then routed to BestTicketFare. The price they were offering for two tickets was $423.81 including taxes (code FW8RAU). And it stated that the price was only guaranteed once the ticket was officially issued by the airline. If there were any issues with the flight becoming unavailable or the price changed somebody would contact you immediately with alternative options, and you would not be charged without your explicit consent. About an hour after I booked the flight I was contacted by a representative stating that the flight had changed to Jul 6th, 2026 and returning on Jul 7th, 2026. The representative also stated that I could not get a refund. I spoke to supervisor Keith, he stated that he would not give me a refund and the only thing he could do was change my flight to leave out of Fort Lauderdale or charge me a little more (over $950) for the same itinerary that I had since the airline had already changed the price. When I told him that American Airlines had a price of $687.62 on their website at that very moment he said that he could not see that price on the internet. A few minutes later he told me to refresh my screen and the flights showed as sold out. Then, I told him that I had just placed a ticket on hold for that price and I could send him a picture of the booking, and he responded that if I could send him a picture of that he would match the price. I asked him for a phone number or email address where to send the picture he said that I could just give him the six letter code and he could look it up on the airline website. A few moments later he stated that I should refresh my screen because the website was giving an error code with that code. When I refreshed my screen it showed that the reservation had been canceled. Supervisor Keith stated that he had no access to change anything on the airline site just to look at the information, that American must had cancelled it due to an error or a change on the price. I called American Airlines and the representative stated that American Airlines does not cancel tickets or change prices once the reservation has been put on hold, according to the system the code had just been cancelled manually a few minutes earlier, and if it was not me who did it, then it had to be somebody with the information (last name, date of birth, record locator). I cannot believe that a BestTicketFare supervisor would go that low and to cancel my reservation with the airline just because it was a cheaper price and he could not match it, leaving me without any reservation at all. For somebody to employ this kind of tactics, they have to be the lowest of the lowest. If he could not match the price he should have said that, no just going behind my back and cancelling the ticket with the airline. I did a google search for cheap airfares for this weekend from Houston to Dallas for my boyfriend to come visit. Best ticket fare had a flight that was listed at $239 for June 6th and him flying back to Houston June 7th, I purchased the tickets. The next morning they called my boyfriend and said the tickets were on "hold" until he agreed to the flight restrictions. The "representative" told him he was unable to bring any bags including carry on, which he then asked that he has to bring a small carry case for his insulin and diabetic supplies (he is a Type 1 diabetic) they told him No he was not able to bring that on the plane either without upgrading his ticket. He immediately three way called me and the rep refused to let him bring his insulin on the plane which I said that was illegal and if they would take liability for it if anything happened to him on the plane and he didn't have his insulin. He then started screaming at me and said they were stand by tickets and that's how that worked, I corrected him and told him that is not how standby works at all and I have a family member that works for an airline. He then said well if you know how it works then you find out. I asked for him to put a supervisor on the phone and he refused, then I said I wanted to talk to anybody else but him and he said he would put me on the longest wait possible. I hung up and called back, got a different Rep and he put a "supervisor" on the phone who then said it was okay for him to bring his insulin but now the date changed from June 6th to June 18th and I needed to pay $500 for the June 6th flight. After purchasing an airfare ticket, I was contacted and told that my selected seat was "overbooked" and could not be fulfilled. I was pressured to change travel dates, but was also told that alternative dates would still not guarantee a confirmed seat. After spending hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue--and being warned I could lose my money--I was pushed into paying more to secure a "guaranteed" seat. I agreed just to avoid losing the ticket entirely. They then took my card details and purchased the ticket directly from the airline (the airline appeared as the merchant), after which BestTicketFare charged an additional USD $400 as a "service fee." This fee was not clearly disclosed upfront. In reality, I could have purchased the same confirmed ticket myself directly from the airline without paying this unnecessary and excessive fee.
