I am a platinum member with Best Western. I've had a membership for many years. You get a reasonably priced clean room along with a free hot breakfast. There were some good points and some bad points. This was my first time staying at this BW in Lumberton while traveling. Checking in was easy. The staff, especially London was very very nice and welcoming. She gave us water bottles upon checkin. There's a small lobby and a breakfast area with seating. It looked a bit weathered and could use some updating. For the free breakfast I was surprised they didn't have hot grits and sausage gravy on their breakfast bar. Every Best Western I've ever stayed at in the south has had this on their breakfast bar including a machine where you can pick the type of coffee you want like a latte, a mocha latte, regular coffee, espresso, etc.. This hotel is an outdoor style hotel with two floors. For some reason their suits are on the second floor so if you are traveling with large luggage, you have to drag it up a flight of stairs. There are no elevators.( I wish I knew this ahead of time.) The walls are also somewhat thin. You can hear the people next door. Once in the room, it was very nice. I upgraded for $9 extra to a suite. The suite had a comfortable king bed, sitting area, desk and chair, refrigerator and microwave, 2 TV's that only had very limited shows. Ironing board, and iron, and blow dryer.They didn't have Netflix, or any of the streaming services I'm used to when traveling. It was mostly local stations. The Lumberton BW is situated right across from a Walmart. ( great for truckers.) Directly across the street is a Chick-fil-A and other restaurants. My biggest complaint is the water pressure was very low in the shower and sink it made it hard to rinse off. My other issue which I do not like is this BW uses large bottles of shampoo,body wash,, conditioner with pumps on the wall. ( that means everyone's hands are on those bottles and pumps instead of having individual samples,sealed and placed daily.I wound up getting Covid and the flu together from using these according to my doctor. Everyone that I was near not one person has ever had Covid. Out front on the corner of the property directly in front by the driveway were several homeless people hanging out. Since you walk directly across to get food, it's not the right place for these people. I felt very uneasy because it was nighttime. Checkout was easy. I did bring up several of these issues to the front desk and they were writing it down. This hotel also allows dogs and cats so if you are allergic check directly with the hotel. I think if this hotel could improve on the things I mentioned, it would get higher rating. read more

We generally stay at Hampton Inns for reliable cleanliness and breakfast but during our road trip we were ready to stop in lumberton and BW was $60 cheaper than Hampton! I'll admit I was slightly concerned when it was a motel, but we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and size of the room. Breakfast was obviously not as great as Hampton Inn but it still had yogurt and waffles, eggs and sausage, juice and coffee, bagels and oatmeal. All in all, would definitely choose this motel over the nearby Hampton Inn for a quick stop! Outdoor pool was open on 4/6. read more

Two stories, exterior entrances, outdoor pool. I was impressed with my king room. All furnishings were in good order. Free wifi worked well, and the TV was nicely sized with a good variety of channels. The free breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage as the hot and a good variety of other foods. The buffet area was neat and clean with a pleasant employee working to keep it that way. Only advice I will give is that the rooms on the back side are beside the parking lot of the local Walmart, and you will hear vehicle traffic. read more

I am new to the BW brand. Have had several amazing stays on our journey. This was a big disappointment. Usually greeted at the other BW with a friendly welcome and bottled waters. No friendly welcome here Biggest complaint was that the room was so DARK. Low watt bulbs and one lamp not working. Depressing. The towels were thin , and the bottom sheet barely covered the mattress pad Noise is loud - walls are paper thin and Dogs barking. Two positives - clean bathroom and good breakfast Also I have never seen a placard listing the prices of the room amenity in case you happen to take them home With you. Nothing real good, nothing real bad. Room clean but old. Noisy heater. Low water pressure in the shower. Outlets worn, broken. Inaccessible. Breakfast is supposed to end at 9 am. We got there at 8:40. There were a few crumbs of eggs left in the pan that looked like they had been sitting there for at least a half hour. The attendant came by and pushed all the crumbs onto a pile while I was standing right next to her. She did not ask if I wanted any fresh eggs. By 8:50, all of the food had been cleared away even though several additional guests showed up looking for food. $10 extra if you can't climb stairs with your luggage. There were no parking spaces near to our room, so we had to walk quite a ways to the stairs to our room. The heater was so noisy that I had to turn it off in order to sleep. I might stay here again, but I'm more likely to spend an extra $15 and stay at a better place, read more

We drove from New York to Florida this was our halfway point stop. Absolutely nothing to complain about but also nothing to brag about. Very average but it did the job. With two dogs and a long drive ahead we got a good nights sleep and the dogs liked the room. We requested a ground floor and they gave it to us which helped thank you we would stay again if need be. read more

Everything was Dirty. To be clear we did speak to the person in the front desk and she didn't care at all. Horrible Service! When we arrived we noticed the sheets with stains and we requested the sheets to be changed. The front desk lady told us to pick the sheets downstairs. She gave us a single sheet! We were exhausted from driving 10 hours and attempted to deal with it. After changing the top sheet to sleep on top. we noice the sheet she gave us was dirty! Ridiculous! After getting frustrated with noticing all the stains I then decided to pay attention. Not only was the sheets dirty... but there were... Dirty Floors. Dirty Bed Sheets. Doors that didn't completely lock. Bathroom door didn't close. Etc. Stayed in for an hour to just leave. We decided to leave and notify the issues of room to the front desk lady. She didn't care at all. No refund. No other option given. I've had a good experience before in other Best Western locations. But this is nothing better then a junkyard. My advice: Don't waste your time or money. For those curious Hampton Hotel saved us, it was an extra $100 but I know that I'm safe, it's clean, and I will actually be able to sleep!!! read more

Pros: -This place is very easy to get to right off I95. - Very convenient walking distance close to Walmart, Waffle house, Hardee's, plus more. -Clean and cute room, nice property. - Friendly front desk. - Pet friendly. Cons: - They do not have specific rooms designated only for pets. Unfortunately, my room was clean but smelt like wet dog. It was late and it was just one night. I had a hard time breathing, felt very itchy was not comfortable at all. I blasted the a/c all night to sleep. If you have any pet allergies I would not stay here. It's a very convenient location. It can be a great place only if the have designated pet free rooms. People do have pet allergies and the dander is hard to clean up. This can ruin anyone's trip. read more

I was driving down to Florida from NJ and stayed at this best western for 1 night. It's a motel, conveniently situated directly off 95 - it's next to a Walmart, chick fil a, and a couple of other food places. I agree with the sentiment of other pet lovers staying here. Rooms were clean and well kept. The service at the reception was pleasant. Let me know of some chain restaurants open. It was Thanksgiving so slim pickings. The out door for our dog was fantastic. We were able to let our pup have a good off leash run. Would definitely stay here again on my way through. Was told no they don't do that then was proceeded to be told we could not park in the handicap parking we advised our vehicle had handicap tags the individual behind the counter said she did not care she would have the car towed. Room for under $100. We stayed here for a few days during the aftermath of a nice storm since our power was off. A lot of hotels were booked. We were surprised at how sophisticated the room look and impressed with the granite countertops. There was some nose based on walmart being across from the hotel and guests passing by the rooms. The bed slept good once everything quiet down. The continental breakfast included potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, waffle makers, bread, and dry products like cereal. Also coffee, oj, and apple juice. Many places to sit down there too. The staff was friendly and helpful. If we needed any repairs, they repaired them on the spot. read more

10:30p Found bed bugs on mattress! Upon arrival the room appeared to be clean, but later in the evening when my wife and I were settling into bed for night we were startled to find a large adult bed bug scampering across bed sheet near my wife--which caused her to scream and stick to ceiling like Velcro. Hotel staff were understanding and offered us a new room and a small discount or a full refund if we chose to leave for another hotel in the area. Once you're creeped out, it's hard to just forget and not think about it. It's like finding a big 'ol long hair in your scrambled eggs, and it's not yours, uck! read more

My friend and I stopped for the night in Lumberton on our way north. Found this hotel thru its four-star rating on Yelp as we drove up South Carolina I-95. Calculated we were about four hours away. Nice young woman helped me with the phone reservation, and she was very pleasant and helpful when we arrived several hours later. The place is older and a bit run down on the outside, but our two rooms were spacious and clean. There were numerous chain restaurants nearby for a quick dinner. If I drove around Lumberton looking for a hotel for the night, I likely would have bypassed this hotel, but choosing it through Yelp ratings as we drove north was sufficient for my needs. Usually prefer a nicer hotel when traveling with my wife, and aim towards Hampton Inns (as they always seem newer), but I was not unhappy with my Best Western experience. read more

Best Western in Lumberton,NC is terrific. We loved this place. The cleanest spot we've found without that awful disinfectant smell that hits you as soon as you walk into most lobbies. Price was very, very reasonable. The lady at the front desk was so friendly. The staff in general is the most courteous and considerate we've found. Extremely accommodating. Comfortable clean room with 2 queens and a couch. Wifi worked without a hitch. The breakfast was ok but if you don't see what you want there are plenty of places to walk or drive to nearby. There's a Walmart next door within walking distance for groceries, sundries and auto services. Met a couple traveling through who make it a point to stop here every time on their trip north. Purely based on the lack of accuracy with the description and the state we found our room in.... not an inside hotel opens to the outside and is right off the interstate... pro/con it is right next to a mall with a Walmart up to you the traffic and noise from the road and the shopping plaza were average. The friendliness of the staff was good and the breakfast was a nice spread kept clean and stocked... unfortunately I did not see a lot of tipping for the breakfast hostess which is a shame:(. Main complaints come from the room smelling like an ashtray, the carpet being wet near the a/c unit, the toilet not flushing and the shower head was broken! I come to rest after driving all day I expect the room I will call my home away from home to at least function:(. On a positive note the beds were super comfortable! read more

While traveling from Orlando to NY I grabbed one of those coupon mags to look for hotels along I-95 to stop at for the night. There appeared to be nothing in those mags that appeared up to par so I went to yelp. From reading reviews I called the Best Western in Lumberton. The person who was manning the desk said it was her first day and bare with her. She was so sweet but it was late and I was really tired and needed to know the price. She quoted me at $110 I then noticed it was listed for $60 in the magazine. She had no idea how to use the mag price and said she just didn't know so we would be out of luck. This was not her fault but the lack of training they provided her with. Because of all the good reviews we booked it anyway. What a mistake. I feel my fellow yelpers let me down this time. Let's start with Its not a hotel it's a motel with no elevator. The lobby looked ok but the motel part was not described in the add or yelp. This was very sketchy. Neither one of us slept a wink and decided in the middle of the night to just leave and get back on the road. The room was dark, the order was awful, the soaps were gross, towels had layers of dust, the shower water was cold, beds were old and sheets scratchy and musty. I have never felt so creeped out in a hotel room till this day. To top it all off at about 4am we heard loud pounding, to the point of breaking the door down outside followed by "open up police" great I had a fugitive sleeping next door. I stopped for a single night with my dog on the way down I-95. The room is clean but looking a little worn. The AC unit did not work that great and it took a while to figure that after you pull out your card key you pull the door handle up. I added a star due to the friendliness of the staff and the awesome breakfast. They had eggs, bacon, sausage, hot oatmeal and toppings, waffle machine, toaster for bagels, toast, or English muffins. Have back problems and requested a bottom floor room. Front desk was very rude. Explained I could not climb steps with my back plus we had our dog with us which means he needs to go out I have to take him up and down steps. Asked for a manager due to fact I booked room asking for bottom floor. Was told THEY NEVER HAVE A MANAGER ON DUTY EVER LEAVE. We talked to a person who was staying there stated place was disgusting. He and his wife just got their keys and room was not clean and they called down the street found a great place . We got phone number and got a great CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL ROOM 1 block away. I have stayed here at total of 3 times - all while traveling to and from FL, with 3 small children and a dog. This is by far one of my favorite stops on the trip. The rooms are a nice size and very clean. The staff is one of the friendliest I've ever come across. Since we found this hotel, every time we travel, we make sure to time our trip to spend the night here. They take hospitality to a new level. The breakfast is very good for a hotel breakfast. They are also dog friendly. Just to give an example of how wonderful they are, last year we stopped here and my son left a prized blanket made for him by his deceased grandmother. We did not notice until the next day and he was devastated. We called and they looked through the laundry until they found it, then immediately mailed it to us overnight without even asking for us to pay the postage. We are still grateful and my now 6 year old still wants to stop to thank them every time we pass. read more

Pulled off the road after a long day of driving in hopes to find a clean and comfy place to sleep for the night with our dogs. This was perfect. Sadly, we just came from a place where we payed much more for MUCH less and this is like a god send right now. Room is large, clean and with its own front entry that we could park right in front of. Beds are comfortable. The room is updated, nice looking and well taken care of. There is a pee fee of only $10. Front desk staff was friendly and speedy, much appreciated. People were super nice but the room was inadequate due to mold on the jacuzzi tub, hair in the shower and a roll away that someone should have rolled into the dump.(The mattress was so thin you could feel each individual spring--and we paid extra for it!) The regular bed was fine but lacking a comforter--which really has become the standard. Breakfast was your typical with waffles, cereal, hb eggs, juice and coffee/tea. Can't complain about it! It didn't have a bad odor it actually smelled clean! The breakfast was delicious it had oatmeal, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles toast, donuts, and I am sure I missed something! I will definitely recommend (which I have already) this hotel and if we are ever back in this area again this will be our first and only choice for us and our fur baby!!!! read more

My husband and I were traveling from Connecticut to Florida 12/22/12 and arrived here at 11pm. The room was filthy. The pillow cases had hair and make up stains ( definitely not laundered lazy housekeeping staff) After we called the front desk they sent two replacement pillow cases (after I replaced the pillow cases I understood why they weren't changed in the first place they were very hard to get on the pillows so beware that if you stay here most likely the pillow cases are dirty). If it wasn't so cold outside (it was in the 30's that night) I would have just slept in my car. The breakfast was just stale muffins and yogurt and cold cereal. The rude Canadians traveling south as well used up all the coffee for their travel mugs (they should just stay in Canada) but the nice employee went in the back to get me some.
