Deadbolt wouldn't work until you manhandled the door to lock it. Opening the door afterwards was a nightmare since it would stick. Water pressure was a joke as was the shower head. The bed was so soft it felt like getting sucked into a quicksand cloud of goose feathers. read more

Good hotel right off of 95 if you just need a place to sleep. Check out at noon (awesome) and Tami takes pride in her breakfast spread that is included and is so nice! Good hot and cold options to feed hungry children before hitting the road again. The sausage gravy was better than some restaurants I have been to. Beds are comfy and yes, it is a little dated, the pool and "gym" look sad, but you stay here to sleep, not hang out! The staff are very friendly. read more

Worst hotel stay ever! The person behind the counter was rude and gave us a smelly, moldy room. It was late (12pm) so we were too tired to do anything but collapse. The hotel is in horrible shape. As Choice Hotels go, it's not too bad. The 1st floor repeatedly smells like an overflowed toilet, so you'll want a higher-floor room. Showers are great -- good water pressure, and cozy stalls (not great if you're extremely tall, I suppose, but I personally enjoy the cave shower feeling, even though I'm also taller than the shower head). AC is not bad. Beds are ridiculously old and lumpy and uneven. Rooms can be dirty (sticky substance on the desk... oh my). Breakfast isn't as bad as expected (be sure to wash the goo off your hands, if you've touched the furniture). Breakfast room person is friendly. Don't even hold out a scintilla of hope for a late checkout! read more

I'll start with the positives. We stopped at the hotel after a long stay at the hospital at 2am. It is a close distance from the hospital. The staff was nice and got us checked in quickly. Now the bad. 1- the room smelled horrific. It smelled like a college football locker room full of mold and sweat. 2- there was NO hot water. After being in the hospital all day we just wanted to take warm showers. We were forced to bare freezing showers. 3- the elevator was broken. Front desk clerk was helpful when I needed copies of work related documents, and got me a cup of yogurt during non breakfast hours to settle my unsettled stomach. When we got to the room we killed 2 small roaches and when my husband went to complain the receptionist came back with him to take pictures of the bugs and as we were looking for the second one we moved the fridge and found a whole nest under it. We were given another room and only stayed because it was super late and no other hotels had vacancies. I did not sleep At all thinking of the bugs even though this room looked clean (we moved everything). In the morning the receptionist said the breakfast stuff wasn't ready and that we were welcome to wait about 30 min but honestly even if it was ready we wouldn't have eaten there. This hotel was worth much more than what we paid! The staff was so welcoming and gave us great recommendations for dinner. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. We just recently stayed at a 5 star resort and I slept so much better at this hotel. Although we were near I95, I couldn't hear any traffic. Breakfast was hot and the lady took pride in serving. I'll start off the review by writing that getting a night's rest after a 12 hour drive from Boston is nice, but this hotel was not great. It is convenient in that it is located right off of I-95, so if you're traveling on this interstate and are in desperate need of rest, this hotel may make sense. The main problems with my stay included the double beds, and the grout surrounding the base of the toilet in the bathroom. The mattresses were sunken in, clearly having been used by many travelers in the past. I just didn't get the vibe that I was staying at a quality place. The rooms are not anything fancy, certainly not bright and airy, more dark and aged. The grout at the base of the toilet was cracked and had some kind of black moldy material on it. My point being, the hotel has seen better days. You'll have a decent shower and time to refresh after your long drive, but do not expect anything more high end than a Hampton Inn, if that. I would have rather stayed at a Hampton, but it is important to try different accommodations. Maybe this place is in need of a renovation. At $179 a night, the place is acceptable. Service is okay. The staff are friendly enough, but no one really went out of there way with southern hospitality. I decided not to stay here on my return leg from Florida. It just was not worth the money and time. Also, Lumberton doesn't strike me as the safest city out there. Got some iffy vibes while venturing out for dinner the night of my stay. read more

WOW! This place is brand new and for now, great!! If you detected some wierdness in that statement, you are observant. The reason is that this hotel replaced one of the very grossest, most disgusting motels which I have ever stayed in! That was the old Lumberton Comfort Inn. After an absolutely horrible stay at the old one, not to mention an email to corporate which generated a form response, which was pretty insensitive, as well as an email from the owner or manager of the motel which if you can imagine this, it was in broken English and offered very little apology, I swore off Comfort Inns forever. This was about 4 years ago Then, a month ago I was making my I-95 jaunt and decided to bed down in Lumberton, as I had gotten off to a late start. I saw the brand new hotel and decided to soften my vow. As they say, never defend your position so far that you can't retreat! I'm glad I did. This is brand new, clean, comfortable with actually very nice people working there. The room was generous, the bed was very comfortable and the linens/towels were a bit better than your normal commuter hotel. It was relatively quiet and I got a great night's sleep! . Do not mistake this hotel for the old one!! The complimentary breakfast was okay, I recall there was actually some protein available! If this is your first sojourn south, I recommend that you just skip the hotel breakfast and head over to one of the many Waffle House restaurants which dot the southern landscape. The hotel has a pool, excercise equipment, I believe it has billiards.. My only hope for this lovely place is that there are different owners than the old one and they don't drag it into the ground and make it into a fleabag. Right from the time we entered the lobby, we were treated with open arms by the lady behind the desk, She was helpful in getting us checked in without delay. Then when we got up for the complimentary breakfast, I noticed Eva the breakfast hostess scrambling around making sure everyone was taken care of and having conversations like she was an old-time friend. She greeted everyone with a big smile, hello and good morning. We have been traveling and staying at comfort suites all through florida. This is the worst hotel we've been in. The mattress is old and lumpy, the lamp shades are cracked and ruined, the tv is the smallest 32" tv - all other comfort inns have large tv. I am shocked by the room, but so tired after a long day driving that we are just going to stay instead of taking our suitcases back downstairs and going somewhere else. Great staff (especially Eva and Ursula) PRISTINE bathroom and 4 down pillows allowed for a great overnight. The mattress is probably on schedule for replacement but it was comfy enough for a good night's sleep. The breakfast there was plentiful and varied, from hard boiled eggs to sausage and waffles. We suddenly found ourselves stranded, after car trouble, in Lumberton. We could not have happened upon a more gracious and welcoming staff! Before we knew we would be staying overnight, we were offered drinks and a place to sit and relax. How's that for hospitality! The manager, BeeBee, called garages to see if anyone could look at our car late evening Saturday. The room was clean and amply sized for our family of five. Every staff person in this hotel had a smile and seemed eager to serve. The management and staff are top notch here. We had a great night stay at this hotel, breakfast was better compared to the usual common continental breakfast. My only complaint is that something was left behind in our room and we are having issues getting it back. We double checked our room but we didn't check in the drawers because we normally don't put anything in them, but my son decided he needed to hide something of great value. We didn't notice till getting into our home state. Always check everywhere before you leave! I'm hoping that they're good people who work there and we get our belongings back! read more

We haven't even gone to bed yet but I'm so aggravated I had to write. We have the last room available so can't change rooms and it's too late to change hotels. The carpet in our room is wet but that's all that's wet. We have no water!!! The front desk says the city is "working on it" and they turn it off periodically for several hours without warning. The staff didn't even offer bottled water and couldn't tell us when we'd have water again. SO no shower tonight after traveling all day!! If this is happening on a regular basis the hotel should have some solutions or concessions in place. If they had at least warned us when we checked in we would have showered right away!! We'll see if there is any adjustment on our bill in the morning. We will never stop here again. read more
