Great location right across from Carlsbad beach and within walking distance of restaurants and shops in Carlsbad Village. We stayed for two nights to spend a casual weekend at the beach. They have parking under the building. The grounds are nice while the rooms are a bit dated. They have a small outdoor pool and fire pit, as well as a small outdoor deck overlooking the water that is connected to their guest lounge where they serve complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was decent and included hot and cold items, such as eggs, bacon, pancakes, yogurt, bagels, etc. the rooms are a bit dated, but a decent size and have small balconies. The bathroom was very tight. We found the room to be clean. They also said they have beach toys and equipment available to borrow, but we didn't use them.

Love it! Best view kind staff everything's clean easily accessible!! thanks Gladys for a wonderful stay

Fire pit, breakfast beach access hands down perfection. Best experience with a BW and I've been a loyal patron for years. This week BW Lodge seriously ALL the staff impressed me. Gladys took care of me and my friends as we needed a room ASAP. Even grounds people Pauly was super helpful, knowledgeable. Thank you Ms. Dorthy the egg breakfast station was clean and your kindness made my day! All Of them deserve a raise.

Great location!!!!! Carlsbad Village is a super spot for food and relaxing. The beach is literally across the street from the hotel. You are 5 blocks from great coffee shops and eateries. We changed rooms after night one. The staff was extremely accommodating. No issues the rest of our stay. They have a nice full breakfast every morning 6:30-9:30am. They have a small workout room with free weights, stationary bike and treadmill. We'll come back here because of the location and the service!

We are in town to see my daughter and her new husband. Dinner down the street and stay here overnight. It's a nice BW Plus but room 55 is not the special you might think. A end unit that has a huge nice tree in the view. And the single pane windows allow noise from cars n bikes & the singer across the street which I can only hope Won't go to two am. Closing time California. It's a nice room , just don't expect peace. And , I do. Yes , I know the beach is not quiet. But at almost $300. I should get silence as desired. Update: The sleep was great. It did get quiet. Room 55 is across from the breakfast lounge and fresh coffee. We decided to stay here for breakfast and eat on the deck. It is included with our stay. Our view this morning will be Overlooking the sea under umbrellas. Actually quite nice. And flocks of Pelicans flying above the sands. Only area I ever see them. Later we will drive down the coast towards San Diego. Maybe stop to shop at a surfer shop. Only place to get a great T shirt that shouts California. Update Breakfast was xlnt. Can't beat the view.

I needed to get away for a day or two so I booked a room for two nights. The pros: right across the street from the beach and beach umbrella, chairs and towels are all provided. These were the reasons why I chose this hotel. Also, it has a small pool and a few lounge areas. There's a coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave in the room. Cons: Parking is extra (although not crazy expensive), no restaurant onsite and the dining options nearby within walking distance are so-so. The breakfast provided was just ok, we skipped it the 2nd morning there. There's no water filling station (there is water available during breakfast hours) so unless you buy water bottles you won't be able to make coffee in your room. No hot tub and if there's someone else in the pool, it feels awkward since the pool isn't big. The street in front of the hotel is pretty dark at night and it seems that there isn't much of a night life there; a pizza place I walked to was closed by 9pm and it's still summer time. I would go again if I wanted a chill time near a quiet beach AND if the price is right. In my opinion anything over $250 per night for this hotel is too much. It is a beach area but the area in general is lacking.

It was impressive that Best Western has you pre-register before your stay. What impressed me was that they actually read my request for an upgrade from a king bed to 2 double beds. Mary called me to let me know what was available and asked what I would like! Wow, that is amazing!. I'm Diamond select at Best Western, globalist with Hyatt and Diamond with Hilton. I stay at many hotels, and they never read my requests... until now. They go above and beyond here! I tried to check in early, but the room wasn't ready. The lounge/ breakfast room on the 2nd floor is a hidden secret. It's open throughout the day until sunset. They have a Nescafe machine that makes coffee, espresso, cappuccino, mocha hot chocolate. Amazing! They also have fruit and tea bags. The view at three lounge is stunning! The outdoor terrace is also nice but is not covered so may get hot. The hotel has boogie boards, Tommy Bahama umbrella and chairs that you can use. We really enjoyed using them at the beach. Around 230pm, they called me to let me know there was a maintenance issue with my room. I showed up at the front desk and Mary upgraded me to a king suite or a fireplace room. She personally walked us to the rooms so we can decide which one we wanted. Room 53 is a great room! It was clean. The fireplace was going. You can see the ocean from the window. Mary also comped my parking fee of $18/day for the original room not being available. Breakfast was standard Best Western. Pancakes, potatoes, bacon, runny eggs, Bob mill oatmeal (could use better toppings), yogurt, waffles, bagel, croissant, special K cereals, etc. They're a little better than some Best Western. Staff at breakfast was nice but had trouble keeping up with the bacon consumption. Overall, the service was excellent here. Mary and the gentleman (didn't get a name) at the front desk that works evenings were the 2 that stood out, but everyone that works here are great! I had a great stay and will definitely return again. I highly recommend.

We chose this hotel on hotel.com for its reviews and location. We booked two rooms and were given 55&54. Our room 55 faced the street. And a tree blocked the ocean view but we didn't pay for ocean view so I was ok with that. The problem was the other room we booked was double the size and had a nice sink area and bathroom. It is obvious this hotel was an old apartment building and I'm not sure why the one room was so much smaller. The bathroom was dated and if we were staying longer than one night I would have been very disappointed. The positives now...The location of this hotel is AMAZING. Right across from the State beach. And the upstairs patio was perfect for beach view and people watching. Breakfast was basic but lots of options. Overall enjoyed our stay.

First time staying here and wish we'd found it years ago! Location is fantastic. We are just a cross walk away from being at the beach and just a few minutes walk to several restaurants, coffee shops and it's central to town. Right on PCH so it's an excellent hotel to stay in for the annual half and full marathon too! Covered parking for a minimal fee with an entrance door right into the property from your parking space which is super convenient. The social areas are a favorite of mine. A fire pit with several comfy chairs to kick back and relax with market lights over head and at the front of the property, on the second level there is another lounge like area with chairs lined up that provide a view of the ocean and it's a prime spot to relax and enjoy the sunsets. Large patio sets also nearby too! In the room we reserved we have a king bed and a balcony that provides us an ocean view. Mini fridge and microwave. I especially like that the bathroom sink and vanity area are completely separate of the tub/shower and toilet area. Considering the location, it's pretty quiet and you don't hear the train too often either. I've never stayed anywhere where the next day they inquired about how our day went and in our case how we did in the half marathon. It was so nice that he stopped to check in with us and just have casual conversation. All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will come back!

Uncomfortably small bathroom. TP rolls force you to lean to the right! Maybe it was supposed to be an armrest?

S.uper small bathroom H.ardly any "Ocean view" from the room... Although you could stand outside on the balcony and see the ocean in the distance. I.nconvenient parking. I drive an F150, no "big tires" or anything but couldn't get in or out of the truck in the cramped parking. T.otally unwilling to address the fact that I didn't get what I paid for. The owner of the location was really un appologetic for the missleading booking. He made two comments that struck a nerve: "That's not us, that's the online marketing for the property" when I expressed to him that I had paid for a room with an ocean view. "We pride ourselves for being 100 steps from the beach" I was 100 steps from the lobby in the room they gave us. We have been here before and left great reviews, but the difference is clearly what room you are in. This stay we were in #37, directly adjacent to Pine street... The Fire Truck route in or out of the area, the Harley with loud pipes up the hill and the light where everyone revs their engines at all hours. The noise from the street reverberates in the ground floor parking and rattles you from sleep. This was meant to be a quiet weekend to celebrate our 23rdwedding anniversary but instead became weekend of being annoyed from them moment we checked in.

PLEASE, do not stay here..... Best Western PLUS , I do expect a tad bit more in overall presentation AND cleanliness. And please note ; I am not a hotel/motel snob. What's my main issue - CLEANLINESS. Lacking here. Picked up the remote control for the air conditioner- it was disgusting. Finger prints or something , gross to see. Took the remote to front desk , and asked for a replacement . Showed her it was dirty. " I don't have a replacement , I'd have to take it out of another room " - hmmmm , not a germaphobe , but wouldn't one want now, in our current COVID environment ( or come on , any time) A CLEAN REMOTE IM GOING TO BE PUTTING MY HANDS ON! Then started looking around and realized , "this place is a dump". Lampshades askew, carpet visibly frayed ( I thought a fray was a noticeable piece of something left by vacuum (( or not...)) , covers missing off switch plates. Foot stool stained with ? Shutters broken , Just gross. I certainly won't walk barefoot on the carpet . It's almost midnight and I can't move on .... I'll survive , but i get shudders thinking about it . There's better out there. Also , street is very busy and loud. (That is not reflected in my rating, it is not hotels fault the street is busy) Just yucky. Move on .

Old, tacky hotel with a small pool and it's not really on the beach. The room decor is 70s-80s. A guy was also trying to sneak in and there was no security. Prices are not reasonable for the mediocre quality and unsafe conditions. The Manager also refused to talk to me. The one Marine veteran desk clerk was the only good thing about the place.

Parking was valet only which was quick and seamless (and free!). The staff at the entry of the hotel was super helpful in providing directions to get down to the pool as one of my girlfriend's said it was a little confusing to find, but I was given a clear guide on how to get down there and got there without issue. We had our own server at the cabana who provided us with our free fruit plate and bottle of bubbly to share, and took food and drink orders. She and her coworkers checked on us pretty frequently and kept us well-stocked. The day was a little overcast and cloudy but the pool was a lovely cool temp, and the jacuzzi was in the same general area so when we got a little chilly we hopped on over. After spending some time in the adult-only pool area, we headed up to the family friendly deck and took a couple of runs down the slides, which was super fun. Around the time we were meant to clear out, our server was super sweet and let us know they would just start to pick up around us but we were welcome to stay longer if we wanted to, since there was no one coming in behind us. We continued relaxing until we were all ready to go but first we got to chatting with another staff member, Bryan, who was super rad and shared all his favorite nearby spots to eat. The staff is really so wonderful here! Very friendly and professional. Overall my first visit to the Park Hyatt Aviara was very enjoyable, and I would absolutely visit again (preferably on a hot, sunny day). Highly recommend for any and all poolside celebrations!

When we got to the front desk to check in, we had to wait while staff checked in another guest, which was understandable. However, after waiting patiently, multiple guests who arrived after us were helped before we were. Even a family who walked in later was taken ahead of us, which was frustrating and set a negative tone right from the start. I asked about upgrading to an ocean view room and was offered a room for an additional $100 that barely had a view at all. On top of that, I had booked a room with two queen beds, and they tried to offer a one-king bed room instead, which didn't make sense for a family stay. Once we got to the room, the beds did not appear to be true queen size and the room had a strong unpleasant odor. The air conditioning did not cool properly, and some areas of the room did not seem clean. We tried to make the best of the evening since we were only staying one night. Later in the evening, after I had taken a shower and was simply walking around the room while my family watched TV, we received a noise complaint and someone knocked on our door. We were not being loud at all -- just normal movement in the room. It was surprising and honestly upsetting to be approached about noise when we were simply settling in for the night. It made the stay uncomfortable and took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing beach getaway. Overall, the cleanliness, room conditions, and customer service need improvement. Since life has been a little crazy, I was unable to book a room until last minute. Somehow this resulted in a very cheap stay in an ocean view king room. The lobby and outdoor spaces are beachy, with several private patio areas for those looking to linger in the California sun, or go for a swim in their resort style pool. It's also directly across the street from the prettiest beach. Sadly my trip was a turnaround, but I was excited to catch a glimpse of the ocean from my hotel room the next morning. The main reason I chose to dock a star is because my shower was all out of soap, conditioner, and shampoo. Normally I'd bring my own, so I was extra bummed to find these empty.

It's an all suites hotel so it served that need. The room itself on appearance was very nice, perhaps recently refurbished and felt clean and modern. We had a couple experiences which made it a little weird though. The rooms have motion detecting lights that you can only sort of control. The shower for example...the light turns off when you're in the shower as it doesn't sense your motion and there's no way (obvious to us) to force it to stay on. That was a bummer for the 2 of us who wanted to shower but had to do so in the dark unless we opened the shower door and waved our arm around to hopefully catch the attention of the sensor to give us another 30 seconds of light. This also happens if you're sitting on the toilet. The last thing I want to think about in that situation is having to provide additional motion so the light doesn't turn out. In the living space, a light also automatically turns on when it senses motion. Not great for having our son trying to sleep in that room and us having to move through it to leave the room or access the kitchen to have all the lights suddenly turn on around our sleeping boy. Also had a disappointing non-fitness room experience. The fitness room was no accessible because of renovations...okay bad luck in terms of timing...but they said I could go to the adjacent Hampton Inn and use their fitness room which was open 24 hours. So I did, but, unfortunately their fitness room actually isn't open 24 hours as I learned when I got there. So no fitness room and wasted time walking in the rain to the hotel next door based in the inaccurate info given by the staff. That's why I was leaning 4 stars at first. But had to drop it to 3 out of 5 because the toilet in the room was leaking, which you don't expect at this price and at a newer hotel. Little things like that matter, especially with family staying in the room. Overall 3 out of 5. Good value, family friendly, but needs better maintenance. Would still consider staying again for the price.

I have no worries. I grab my coffee creamers from the lobby, bring them up to my room for the morning. I have everything I need for a peaceful restful night and easy morning. I get that here. The staff are always nice. Isaiah answered my phone call and helped me a very nice room at a reasonable price. Thank you Isaiah I've never gone in and had the breakfast in the morning but tomorrow I will. I will take pictures. It is beautiful.

Ayres Hotel Vista Carlsbad exceeded all of my expectations, and it was a pleasure to stay here. We got a double queen room, and the beds were very comfortable. The room itself is your standard mid-range hotel room, but everything was clean, the shower water pressure was decent, there were plenty of device charging plugs, there's a mini fridge in the cabinet, and the bathroom sink is separate from the toilet and shower area. I don't particularly like this restroom setup, but what are you gonna do? The free breakfast is great. They have a made-to-order omelette station, with an actual person behind a counter taking orders and making your food. They also have a self-serve waffle-making station, oatmeal cups, yogurt, cereal, and a mango-infused water (fancy!). The only thing is that the coffee they offered in the dining room was trash. What you want to do is go visit the Keurig coffee maker by the front desk, which is available to guests all day. Make yourself a cup of coffee from there, and thank me later. There is indoor seating, but do yourself a favor and go out to the patio and enjoy your breakfast outdoors in the perfect Carlsbad morning air. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day, which is a relief and as it should be. There is also a laundry room, with super fast washers and dryers. Ayres Hotel is set up in the hills a bit, so there isn't anything nearby to walk to. But if you're in a pinch and need something for dinner, they make wood-fired pizzas in-house and have happy hour specials.

I specify in-person because calling them on the phone to confirm details was terrible. AI agent phone screen and then when a real person picked up, he seemed to have zero answers about the property and the amenities. In-person though, the service was fantastic. Friendly staff and guest services showing up at lightning speed left me speechless. Called down for extra slippers, and guest services showed up within 5 minutes. Asked for water as well and he returned within 2 minutes. Swear the staff must be sprinting or something. The rooms are great. We got a lagoon view, which while not as beautiful as an ocean view, was quite nice. We had a view of the freeway and a parking lot, but in the not-so-far distance, there was a nice view of the lagoon. The room. patio, and shower are all massive. Even at 100% capacity and a wedding happening during our stay, we never felt like it was too crowded. No loud noises throughout the night either.

Although it…read moresits close to the main road, the hotel feels quietly tucked into the edge of the ocean--a low, four-story retreat that opens itself to the sea. What I loved most was the room, especially the shower. It had a thoughtfully designed, thick glass door that opened easily. In most hotels, I hesitate before turning on the water, bracing for that sudden burst of heat overhead. But here, everything was arranged with care, so I could step in comfortably and enjoy the shower without that small anxiety. The details in the room made it even better--a Nespresso machine ready for a slow morning, and a proper water kettle, which always feels like a small luxury. The bed was soft and welcoming, the kind you sink into at the end of a long day. We didn't have an ocean view, but the patio had its own charm--quiet, intimate, and enough to make you pause. The best part, though, was the beach. Just a short walk down the stairs, and your feet meet the sand. The shoreline isn't wide, but it stretches beautifully along the coast. I found myself walking there in the mornings and again in the evenings, letting the rhythm of the waves mark the day. That simple routine--down the stairs, onto the sand--became the most memorable part of the stay.
