This hotel boasts one of the finest customer service experiences I've ever encountered. This hotel was actually recommended by my in-laws. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was truly exceptional. The two ladies at the front desk, along with their supervisor, were extremely courteous and accommodating. Despite our scheduled 3 pm check-in, we arrived at 10 am and were graciously offered a tour by the supervisor, who also upgraded my room to one with pool access and suites at no additional charge. Upon inquiry, I discovered that the hotel is family-owned, which resonated with me as I work for a family-owned store and appreciate their dynamic and energy. The happiness of the employees was palpable, from the front desk staff to room service and the breakfast hostess. It's evident that they are treated well, with some staff members having over 15 years of service, and speaking fondly of the hotel's owner as a kind family figure. The hotel's location is ideal, situated directly in front of the pedestrian lane that leads to the beach, next to an excellent seafood restaurant, Harbor Fish, where I highly recommend trying the fish tacos MUST TRY THEIR FISH TACOS! It's also 5 min walk from the little Mom and Pop stores and restaurants. Best Western plus Beach View Lodge has a wonderful location. It is across the street from the beach, and very close to Carlsbad Village too. The parking fees is $19 per night. It is nice and convenient. The hotel is very clean. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The Lounge is located in the second floor where you can have a panoramic ocean view. It is so pleasant and relaxing. The breakfast lounge is very clean and spacious. They offer breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30. It is the classic Best Western breakfast. It includes scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage links or Bacon, pancakes, toast, bagels, cream cheese, muffins, Danish, cereals, bars, jam, butter, yogurt, and fresh fruits. In addition to coffee, tea, cappuccino, hot cocoa, and juice. There is a nice and cozy fire pit area. Our room was very nice and clean with side ocean view and balcony.The room amenities includes; refrigerator, microwave, television,coffee- maker, hair dryer. It was well-lit and had many outlets. There were many lamps around the room. The mattress and pillows were comfy. It also had a powder room with a small couch, mirror and sink. There was a glass console table, armchair, chair. They have parking under the building. The grounds are nice while the rooms are a bit dated. They have a small outdoor pool and fire pit, as well as a small outdoor deck overlooking the water that is connected to their guest lounge where they serve complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was decent and included hot and cold items, such as eggs, bacon, pancakes, yogurt, bagels, etc. the rooms are a bit dated, but a decent size and have small balconies. The bathroom was very tight. We found the room to be clean. They also said they have beach toys and equipment available to borrow, but we didn't use them. read more

Great location!!!!! Carlsbad Village is a super spot for food and relaxing. The beach is literally across the street from the hotel. You are 5 blocks from great coffee shops and eateries. We changed rooms after night one. The staff was extremely accommodating. No issues the rest of our stay. They have a nice full breakfast every morning 6:30-9:30am. They have a small workout room with free weights, stationary bike and treadmill. We'll come back here because of the location and the service! read more

The Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge in Carlsbad exceeded expectations in so many ways: the breakfast was great, customer service was warm and attentive, and the location couldn't be better. It's close to everything yet just far enough to feel peaceful and quiet. I especially loved the fire pit area and the ocean view, which made mornings and evenings feel extra special. The only downsides were the super tight parking spaces...definitely manageable, just a bit tricky if you have a larger vehicle and it wasn't complementary like advertised. We are in town to see my daughter and her new husband. Dinner down the street and stay here overnight. It's a nice BW Plus but room 55 is not the special you might think. A end unit that has a huge nice tree in the view. And the single pane windows allow noise from cars n bikes & the singer across the street which I can only hope Won't go to two am. Closing time California. It's a nice room , just don't expect peace. And , I do. Yes , I know the beach is not quiet. But at almost $300. I should get silence as desired. Update: The sleep was great. It did get quiet. Room 55 is across from the breakfast lounge and fresh coffee. We decided to stay here for breakfast and eat on the deck. It is included with our stay. Our view this morning will be Overlooking the sea under umbrellas. Actually quite nice. And flocks of Pelicans flying above the sands. Only area I ever see them. Later we will drive down the coast towards San Diego. Maybe stop to shop at a surfer shop. Only place to get a great T shirt that shouts California. Update Breakfast was xlnt. I needed to get away for a day or two so I booked a room for two nights. The pros: right across the street from the beach and beach umbrella, chairs and towels are all provided. These were the reasons why I chose this hotel. Also, it has a small pool and a few lounge areas. There's a coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave in the room. Cons: Parking is extra (although not crazy expensive), no restaurant onsite and the dining options nearby within walking distance are so-so. The breakfast provided was just ok, we skipped it the 2nd morning there. There's no water filling station (there is water available during breakfast hours) so unless you buy water bottles you won't be able to make coffee in your room. No hot tub and if there's someone else in the pool, it feels awkward since the pool isn't big. The street in front of the hotel is pretty dark at night and it seems that there isn't much of a night life there; a pizza place I walked to was closed by 9pm and it's still summer time. I would go again if I wanted a chill time near a quiet beach AND if the price is right. In my opinion anything over $250 per night for this hotel is too much. It is a beach area but the area in general is lacking. read more

It was impressive that Best Western has you pre-register before your stay. What impressed me was that they actually read my request for an upgrade from a king bed to 2 double beds. Mary called me to let me know what was available and asked what I would like! Wow, that is amazing!. I'm Diamond select at Best Western, globalist with Hyatt and Diamond with Hilton. I stay at many hotels, and they never read my requests... until now. They go above and beyond here! I tried to check in early, but the room wasn't ready. The lounge/ breakfast room on the 2nd floor is a hidden secret. It's open throughout the day until sunset. They have a Nescafe machine that makes coffee, espresso, cappuccino, mocha hot chocolate. Amazing! They also have fruit and tea bags. The view at three lounge is stunning! The outdoor terrace is also nice but is not covered so may get hot. The hotel has boogie boards, Tommy Bahama umbrella and chairs that you can use. We really enjoyed using them at the beach. Around 230pm, they called me to let me know there was a maintenance issue with my room. I showed up at the front desk and Mary upgraded me to a king suite or a fireplace room. She personally walked us to the rooms so we can decide which one we wanted. Room 53 is a great room! It was clean. The fireplace was going. You can see the ocean from the window. Mary also comped my parking fee of $18/day for the original room not being available. Breakfast was standard Best Western. Pancakes, potatoes, bacon, runny eggs, Bob mill oatmeal (could use better toppings), yogurt, waffles, bagel, croissant, special K cereals, etc. They're a little better than some Best Western. Staff at breakfast was nice but had trouble keeping up with the bacon consumption. Overall, the service was excellent here. Mary and the gentleman (didn't get a name) at the front desk that works evenings were the 2 that stood out, but everyone that works here are great! We chose this hotel on hotel.com for its reviews and location. We booked two rooms and were given 55&54. Our room 55 faced the street. And a tree blocked the ocean view but we didn't pay for ocean view so I was ok with that. The problem was the other room we booked was double the size and had a nice sink area and bathroom. It is obvious this hotel was an old apartment building and I'm not sure why the one room was so much smaller. The bathroom was dated and if we were staying longer than one night I would have been very disappointed. The positives now...The location of this hotel is AMAZING. Right across from the State beach. First time staying here and wish we'd found it years ago! Location is fantastic. We are just a cross walk away from being at the beach and just a few minutes walk to several restaurants, coffee shops and it's central to town. Right on PCH so it's an excellent hotel to stay in for the annual half and full marathon too! Covered parking for a minimal fee with an entrance door right into the property from your parking space which is super convenient. The social areas are a favorite of mine. A fire pit with several comfy chairs to kick back and relax with market lights over head and at the front of the property, on the second level there is another lounge like area with chairs lined up that provide a view of the ocean and it's a prime spot to relax and enjoy the sunsets. Large patio sets also nearby too! In the room we reserved we have a king bed and a balcony that provides us an ocean view. Mini fridge and microwave. I especially like that the bathroom sink and vanity area are completely separate of the tub/shower and toilet area. Considering the location, it's pretty quiet and you don't hear the train too often either. I've never stayed anywhere where the next day they inquired about how our day went and in our case how we did in the half marathon. It was so nice that he stopped to check in with us and just have casual conversation. All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will come back! read more

For the price this is a great place to stay. Check in was fast and easy and the parking is easy for in and out. The room was large and bed was comfortable. Bathroom wasn't the best and I am not a fan of the sink being outside of the bathroom. We also had a broken set of blinds on the window and at no fault of the hotel the noise from outside was easy to hear. The location is wonderful, you are across the street from the beach and it's only a couple blocks to the village with all the stores and restaurants. The hotel will also give you a chair and umbrella to take to the beach with you. read more

I drive an F150, no "big tires" or anything but couldn't get in or out of the truck in the cramped parking. T.otally unwilling to address the fact that I didn't get what I paid for. The owner of the location was really un appologetic for the missleading booking. He made two comments that struck a nerve: "That's not us, that's the online marketing for the property" when I expressed to him that I had paid for a room with an ocean view. "We pride ourselves for being 100 steps from the beach" I was 100 steps from the lobby in the room they gave us. We have been here before and left great reviews, but the difference is clearly what room you are in. This stay we were in #37, directly adjacent to Pine street... The Fire Truck route in or out of the area, the Harley with loud pipes up the hill and the light where everyone revs their engines at all hours. The noise from the street reverberates in the ground floor parking and rattles you from sleep. This was meant to be a quiet weekend to celebrate our 23rdwedding anniversary but instead became weekend of being annoyed from them moment we checked in. read more

Visited relatives who lived in Carlsbad. This is where we stayed for a week. First impression was: wow.. great customer service even late into the night, when we arrived! The room was clean, well maintained, and nicely cooled down. There is a scenic balcony overlooking the beach across the road. Amazing breeze and a great way to watch the sunset. There were also washer and dryers onsite, which supported ApplePay, which was nice. An elevator allowed one to get to the different floors with heavy luggage. Stairs in various places to allow for folks to get to other levels. There is free wifi and the bandwidth was great. Was able to stream movies, access VPN(s), and get some work done while near the beach. They also had a free breakfast bar, which was nice. Checkout was a breeze as well. The only gotchas were: There weren't always enough parking spaces. We were lucky during our stay, but I can see parking being an issue during a super busy holiday. There are some mid-walkway steps which can be easy to miss, causing a misstep. read more

" I don't have a replacement , I'd have to take it out of another room " - hmmmm , not a germaphobe , but wouldn't one want now, in our current COVID environment ( or come on , any time) A CLEAN REMOTE IM GOING TO BE PUTTING MY HANDS ON! Then started looking around and realized , "this place is a dump". Lampshades askew, carpet visibly frayed ( I thought a fray was a noticeable piece of something left by vacuum (( or not...)) , covers missing off switch plates. Foot stool stained with ? Shutters broken , Just gross. I certainly won't walk barefoot on the carpet . It's almost midnight and I can't move on .... I'll survive , but i get shudders thinking about it . Fantastic! Everything was excellent. We started our vacation by checking in with the friendly guest services personnel. The check in process was efficient and worry free. Every time we came in contact with a staff person we were greeted warmly with a smile. Our room was spacious, clean and had a nice view of the courtyard area. We could also see the beach from our window which was a nice surprise. Location location location! When this place advertised it was steps from the beach I was skeptical. Carlsbad beach is across the street! Just the best beach in the area. The sunsets are insane, the beach is clean with easy access to showers and restrooms. Also this hotel is just minutes walk to Carlsbad village, restaurants and shops. The breakfast that's included is great. The breakfast room attendants are very friendly and kept all the breakfast foods refreshed and the area very clean. My favorite part was the beach gear that was available for use. Traveling and not having to worry about chairs and umbrellas is a huge reason why we picked this place. From start to finish everything about this place is on point. My husband and I spent the night at this Best Western as I was at a conference across the street. The location is really convenient, as it is right in Carlsbad Village, walking distance to many attractions, and the front of the hotel has a great view of the beach. There are some nice rocking chairs on the second floor that overlook the beach. Our room was very large, but very basic. It really had no real style. There was a living room and a kitchenette. There was a pull-out sofa, thus it was really a one-bedroom that could be converted to have enough space for a family. The pool area is fine, a bit crowded in, but nothing special. In general, it was clean and we slept well. We did not try the free breakfast in the morning. The location is great and if I'm ever in need of a convenient hotel in Carlsbad again, I would not hesitate to stay, but there is really nothing too interesting about the hotel itself. read more

They only have a few parking spaces..so if you go anywhere and come back late..u might have to park on the street..and who knows how far that will be. What an awesome place! This is my second time here and it is even better than the first time I stayed! The rooms are clean the view is amazing the beach is across the street! There's a lovely balcony in my room and I can sit there and watch the ocean from spot. The bed is super comfortable, there is a refrigerator, they have a hot tub, a swimming pool and that's not even including the amazing breakfast they have every morning. Every morning a local company caters at Continental breakfast. There are muffins, bagels, Danish, oatmeal, they have a pancake machine! They have yogurt, strawberry milk, dried fruit... This best western is the best! The location is right across the street from south Carlsbad state beach. You are within blocks of downtown shops, restaurants and farmers market on Wednesday. The front desk staff are friendly, helpful and have a sense of humor. The rooms are clean and well kept. You do have have to pay for covered parking, but hey it is the beach right? The free breakfast offers alot of grab and go options as well as some eggs and bacon. They even offer almond milk. Very nice. There is a small pool and fire ring. But you are at the beach. If I am hanging in this region, I am usually staying in Encinitas. But this Best Western, and its surrounding area, has change my mind completely about the type of beach vacation I would like to have. First order of business, the cons. This Best Western has the most rickety elevator I am certain I have ever experienced. I felt, for sure, that we would get trapped in it. For that reason, we took the stairs more often than not. Even while carrying our luggage up to the third floor. Also, the WIFI can be sketchy. It seems like it is very slow mostly during the peak evening hours. That aside, what a swank spot! The best parts: 1. They serve a "deluxe" continental breakfast. I wasn't certain what that meant, but it is basically a continental breakfast with bonuses. In this case, you get a broader option of fruits, jams/jellies, yogurts and also hot breakfast sandwiches. Sweet deal! 2. The beach is directly across the street from the beach. Directly across. You cross the highway, walk down the walkway and your toes are instantly in sand. *Note: The walkway down does not appear to be wheelchair accessible, and might be a slight challenge if you use a walker or have a stroller. 3. Carlsbad Village is just blocks away. Leave your car, and check out the restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, venues and public art. Great location for just about everything you need. And there is a 7-Eleven around the corner that is something like a corner market where you can buy all kinds of inexpensive sandwiches, fruits, burritos and other treats for the beach. 4. The pool looks to be brand spanking new! I have never seen such a clean pool. And it's heated to 80 degrees. The jacuzzi is tiny, but a jacuzzi nonetheless. 5. Rooms are spacious and pretty comfy. We had a double queen. Tons of room. We could have had two other adults or three children and would have been pretty content. And while we did not get a patio, we did have a skinny window that gave a nice view of the beach. Also, the shutters on the window gave a lovely feel to the room. I am eager to return here. We spent last weekend at this property for 2nights. Location was awesome! It's a short walk to the beach, walking distance to a lot of restaurants. Our room had a balcony with a side ocean view. It's wonderful to wake up to the sound of the waves. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and was perfect for 2adults and 1 child, room was spotless. The hotel staff were super helpful and friendly too. Now, for the not so spectacular part of the review. The bathrooms are SO TINY! There's barely room to turn around, this is coming from a barely 5ft woman. The breakfast is mediocre. Jimmy Dean sandwiches, danish, cupcakes, weak coffee, and sour milk. Their selection of Tazo teas and fresh grapes were good though. Would we go back and stay at this hotel again? For the location, yes. I'd pass on the breakfast though unless they make changes on their menu. read more

A family of 4, we arrived late evening. The attendant was extremely courteous and helpful, but this is where the excellent experience ended. The floors in the room were very dirty. I don't believe their vacuums work properly, and it's questionable if they mop or clean the fake wood flooring. Rooms are extremely outdated with no bathroom sinks, just a tub/shower & a Toilet. The one sink is conveniently located in the room's entry with no privacy treatment, like a privacy drape, just a wide open viewing to the bedroom, so all occupants can watch you brush your teeth, shave, take a bird bath or do what you normally do in private, you're just on diplay to all. The stairways and hand railings are covered with a black thick dust, so it's necessary to wash your hands and wipe your feet before entering your dated suite. The carpet in our room was coming undone, so if you need to make a sweater while your there, you have plenty of thread. The parking, well it's very limited, in individual cubbyholes, and they typically charge $15 for this lovely ammenity. It appears the building was originally an apartment or similar in build, and I can only imagine it looked at its best when the furnishings were installed and the rooms were decorated circa 1970. We paid $467.00 for our wonderful experience/ expensive lesson. Always do your research. I made the mistake and trusted that the Best Western Brand would have Better Standards. This is my first bad experience, whereby I paid Resort prices to stay at the "Overlook Hotel" from the movie the Shining, just no bartender named Lloyd to greet me. Here's Johnny! read more

Very much a budget motel in a decent location. There are much nicer places to stay in Carlsbad, especially if you value your sleep. Car ports are immediately below the rooms and the doors are not soft close, so you start hearing doors slam throughout the complex at 7 AM every morning. Front desk staff are incompetent and the Best Western customer service are even worse. Andrew provides the only decent service at this place, but he doesn't always keep his word. Btw, they charge $15/night for parking now and they only clean the rooms once during your stay...so you're better off staying somewhere else for the price. Staff was kind however I paid $110 to stay in a room that had pee residue left all over the toilet seat and the bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in idk how long. Television was also broken and its right next to the freeway so you can hear all of the cars driving by which makes it a little difficult to sleep. The rooms are spacious and have a mini kitchen but it just isn't worth the price. read more

Don't stay at this property, guest services is non existent, general manager David refuses to return a phone call. 3 weeks and waiting... 250.00 smoking charge to a couple who have member smoked in their life. Great little hotel with a fantastic deck that has an awesome view of the ocean. Rooms are clean and well stocked. The breakfast bar is a nice way to start the day with another great view of the ocean. The only reason for 4/5 stars was at 5:42am the first morning the smoke detector in our room started chirping. Now this in itself would not bring the lower rating. We called the front desk which immediately responded with another dead battery, then stated they had no more and maintenance doesn't come in until 10:00 am. I had to take the detector off the wall and hand it to the desk clerk to get some peace and quiet. Attention hotel manager: please go purchase some 9 volt batteries! read more

We stayed here about 8 years ago and it was a great experience. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, sun deck and beach access. Hotel has really lost its luster. Room was comfortable and quiet on the first night. Second night people above us flushing toilet a lot Walls/floors so thin we can hear peeing, lid slammed and flushing. The towels provided to us left behind a fuzzy debris which was icky. Don't use the towels on your hair because it will look like a you have a medical condition The major bummer was that they got rid of the jacuzzi...one of the things we had been looking forward to doing during our stay. The pool looks like it's got a bunch of sand in it. Parking is $15 a night which we didn't have to pay last time, they are chintzy with bar soap and shampoo and they have "suspended" housekeeping, so hmmmm . The Springhill next door looks real nice though, so if they have a jacuzzi, then I would stay there next time. read more
