The day before we checked in, I received a text from the hotel and they asked for arrival time and anything we would like to let them know. I mentioned it's for my birthday and we were bringing our 18 months old baby. Again then I assumed we would get something for my birthday or a little toy or stuffed animal for our baby. Nothing. Nothing was mentioned at check in. Nothing was in our room. I would've expected less if they didn't text us ahead and ask about it. Hotel room was fine. I used Suite Upgrade Award to get a suite. One knob in shower was broke. The cooler is just a cooler and not a refrigerator, wish it was one. Valet was very slow on the weekend. We waited at least 30 mins. Make sure you plan ahead. Also when we arrived, they didn't have the luggage cart ready either. We waited for a cart and also waited a while for luggage to arrive our room. Overall a very underwhelming experience. Will stay at Mission Pacific next time.

The shower drain was also clogged and the housekeeping give attitudes when setting up the sofa bed. The whole weekend, the fire pit in the suite also wasnt working but we were not notified ahead of time. We also booked the top golf suite during our stay but was told there are not working AC inside and the TV wasnt working properly. Not to mention the hostess Izabel's bad attitude at the restaurant was the last straw that we wont be returning to this hotel again.

However, warning- if you are in the middle ocean front rooms (i.e. room 530), they are located outside and there is a train behind the property that runs all night. The manager offered to switch our room but it would have been a downgrade to an ocean view room so we decided to deal with the noise. Note that you also can't see the sunset from those rooms as it is blocked by the rooms on the west side. The front desk service was great. They offered us some wine and champagne and provided us with water bottles. The rooftop pool is wonderful. It's a nice place to lounge. The pool is heated so didn't feel too cold, but we were also there during a heat advisory 75+ degrees). There is a live dj playing lounge music. The food and drinks are expensive so we didn't really order anything. Overall a nice stay, but if we ever go back I would make sure we don't get one of the outside rooms.

The bed was so comfy and there was a large sitting area with a TV. We got room service and every food we chose was delicious! We rented chairs and an umbrella for our beach day and we spent so much time on our balcony watching wildlife, surfers, people fishing, the waves. The pool also was heated and so lovely to jump in after a day in the ocean. They had live music around the pool Saturday night! It was walking distance from so many stores and restaurants. Then, after midnight, there was constant yelling and screaming outside our room. When I called the front desk, I was essentially told there was nothing they could do. I understand they can't control everything, but the inconsistency was frustrating. If quiet hours are important enough to call guests about at 10:05 p.m., there should be some effort to address excessive noise later in the night as well. I was also surprised that a resort at this price point doesn't even have a jacuzzi. For what we paid, I expected amenities and a level of comfort that justified the cost. They also have an adult pool in the main pool area, which had a view overlooking the breathtaking golf course. Breakfast at The Vue was pretty solid. Our daughter was too little for most of the events and their bigger kid pools + splash pad, but we did see they have a kids slide! That said, what makes this resort special isn't just the buildings it's the people. I could leave my phone outside our cottage for hours, and I genuinely believe no one would touch it. That kind of honesty and sense of community is rare, and it's the reason we keep coming back. It's difficult for me to give this place five stars because I've seen it at its best. Compared to how it used to be, it's no longer in its prime. Based on its current condition, I think 3.5 out of 5 stars is a fair rating. I truly hope the owners invest in restoring the cottages, because this resort has something you can't easily replace a great atmosphere and trustworthy guests.

When I arrived around 1 PM, I was told the room wasn't actually ready yet but should only be "about an hour." Three hours and several bar tabs later, I finally got access around 4 PM. What made the wait especially frustrating was that I had already checked my luggage with the hotel. Had I known I would be waiting three hours, I could have gone into Carlsbad Village or explored the area. Instead, I felt tethered to the property because all of my belongings were being held by the hotel while I waited for a room that I had been told was already ready. Then came the mystery of the soaking wet carpet. Not a damp spot here or there--the carpet was wet enough that it immediately raised questions about what had happened in the room before I arrived. Given the three-hour delay, my imagination was left to fill in the blanks, and none of the possibilities were particularly comforting. I had also specifically booked an ocean-view room rather than a pool-view room. While the room technically had a view of the ocean somewhere beyond the pool area, it was directly above the pool during a reggae festival weekend. Instead of the peaceful ocean-view experience I expected, I got a soundtrack of reggae and a front-row view of the pool scene. The location is beautiful and the staff was pleasant, but between the inaccurate room-ready notification, the three-hour wait, the soaking wet carpet, and the questionable interpretation of "ocean view," the experience didn't live up to expectations. The room is so relaxing,the vibe is comforting. It has complimentary coffee, nespresso tea and bottle water. You can ask for more water at concierge. Look at the real life I believe eucalyptus stem on top of the shower head, love it. There's also a gym and spa in 1st floor, also access to beach. AI agent phone screen and then when a real person picked up, he seemed to have zero answers about the property and the amenities. In-person though, the service was fantastic. Friendly staff and guest services showing up at lightning speed left me speechless. Called down for extra slippers, and guest services showed up within 5 minutes. Asked for water as well and he returned within 2 minutes. Swear the staff must be sprinting or something. The rooms are great. We got a lagoon view, which while not as beautiful as an ocean view, was quite nice. We had a view of the freeway and a parking lot, but in the not-so-far distance, there was a nice view of the lagoon. The room. patio, and shower are all massive. Even at 100% capacity and a wedding happening during our stay, we never felt like it was too crowded. No loud noises throughout the night either.
