NEW OWNER ALERT! Cockroaches, raw sewage, broken toilets, syringes. Booked 2 bdrm 2 bath beachfront…read more8/24-8/31 for a family reunion at a neighboring hotel. Have been a customer for 17 years as have many family members and friends. Checked in, paid my balance by check and they cashed within an hour. Arrived in room to 2 dead cockroaches and a toilet which wouldn't flush. A live roach runs into bathroom and under sink. Told mgr Lily she called maintenance man who should arrive in hour or two. In the mean time, chased 2-3 other cockroaches killed one. Wife flushed other toilet to see if it worked and it overflowed on to floor and shower backed up spewing sewage. The smell was unbearable. Put down towels called manager she said she'd call plumber now. Went to get a glass in the cupboard and found a glass full of syringes. Obviously this place has not been cleaned. BROKEN TOILETS, LIVE AND DEAD COCKROACHES, RAW SEWAGE,SYRINGES were the issues within the first two hours of our family vacation. Plumber arrived and fixed plumbing. Still nobody cleaned bathroom floor or shower. And it reeked of sewage. We asked if anyone was going to clean up the roaches and the manager finally did. Manager tried to get us to stay with discounts and other rooms but they had nothing comparable and we were disgusted and really couldn't see ourselves staying anywhere in this place. We chased a roach and moved a chest of drawers and found RODENT AND COCKROACH FECES (see photo)Final straw was my son finding roaches climbing up from the drain in the shower into the pan. That's it. We never unpacked so we put everything in the truck and drove 2 hours home. Vacation week ruined. Family reunion ruined. I called the next morning and spoke to Lily and said I was driving down to pick up my refund. She confirmed that I would be getting 100% refund and that the owner was there and valued us as a customer and wanted a second chance. All I wanted was my money back I said. Drove 2 1/2 hours to be greeted by a check for half my total. So they kept $2400. Unbelievable. I will never give uLIARS on top of it Enjoy the photos. I have more and video to be posted. UPDATE. Owner called 9/12 and said he would be sending the balance of the refund. STILL NOTHING. After a month, I received a full refund. Not pleased with what I had to do, and was prepared to do in order to effectuate the full refund. They could have tried to make it right but failed. Sorry to say we won't be customers again.

They have beach towels, toys, chairs and umbrellas to make your beach day perfection. The rooms are completely remodeled with a modern, beachy feel. The beds are comfortable with fluffy pillows and white comforters. I'm here in the peak season and it's around $7k for a week. I personally think it's worth paying more to be right on the beach. It's absolutely heaven to wake up to the sounds of the ocean and see the sunset on the water every night. Also, it's dog friendly!

We reserved this beach house in March 2026, months in advance, so six of her closest friends and family members could fly in from out of state to celebrate with her. Everyone coordinated work schedules, purchased airfare, and planned this special weekend around this reservation. On our check-in day, we were instructed to wait until 4:00 PM before arriving. We received the door code, so naturally we assumed everything was ready. When my daughter's husband and friends arrived at the property, they discovered another family already staying there. We had booked through VRBO. The other family had booked directly through the owner's website. Somehow, the property had been double-booked. What made this even more upsetting was learning that this wasn't a last-minute mistake. Based on our conversations, it appeared the double booking had existed well before our arrival, yet no one contacted us ahead of time. Had we been notified even a day or two earlier, we could have made alternate arrangements. Instead, we found out while standing outside the house with luggage in hand. VRBO offered to help us relocate and provided a credit, so we found another beachfront property in Carlsbad about 2.5 miles away. We immediately booked it. Then unbelievably...that property was double-booked too. At that point, my daughter, her husband, six guests (including one who is pregnant), and our entire family spent more than four hours on the phone trying to find somewhere to stay. Because the two beachfront rentals had already been charged to the credit card the group was using to split expenses, there wasn't enough available credit left to simply reserve another expensive beach property while waiting for refunds. Instead of spending her 30th birthday celebrating with the people she loves, my daughter spent the evening sitting on the phone with customer service, crying, exhausted, and wondering where everyone was going to sleep. The emotional toll was enormous. This wasn't just a vacation--it was a milestone birthday that had been planned for months and involved family and friends traveling from across the country. After everything we went through, we were ultimately offered only a $250 credit after the refund. Considering the ruined birthday, the hours spent trying to find lodging, the stress placed on everyone involved, and the complete disruption of the weekend, that felt more like an insult than a meaningful attempt to make things right. Mistakes happen. Double bookings can happen. But communication and accountability matter. Had we been informed in advance, this entire nightmare could have been avoided. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience what ours did.

We stayed at the Seabird Hyatt for three summers in a row and booked a fourth time in February 2026…read morefor July. The first summer was partial ocean view with a balcony and the second, third, and fourth booking we paid an upgrade for an ocean view with a balcony. After checking in this July at 11:30 am, we got into our room at 2:30 pm. We discovered that we didn't have a balcony like the other 3 visits. Instead, we had a Juliet or faux balcony. We could only step outside, not move around, nor sit. The balcony was essentially a giant window looking at their sister property Mission Pacific and the street. We had no balcony to sit and look at the ocean view we booked and PREPAID for as an upgrade 5 months prior to the stay. I called the front desk. They claimed we booked a room with a Juliet balcony and had no other availability. This is untrue, per the listing image I have included in this review. They offered us a balcony with city view or a room with a king-sized bed. We were a family of 4 traveling with 2 teenagers. They offered no other help or compensation. At Costco's suggestion, I asked about their sister property next door and I asked them to include the reduced valet and our food credits that were part of the February package we already paid for. When I checked in next door at Mission Pacific, I discovered our reservation hadn't been transferred. It had only been re-booked and we needed to pay the market rate for the next 4 nights even though we pre-paid $2300+ for Seabird back in February. I spent at least a half-hour at the front desk trying to negotiate and get a room resembling what we had paid for 5 months ago. MP's management was great and was able to accommodate our requests. After THREE HOURS of stressing and trying to solve this issue, we finally had some type of resolution. We stayed at MP from July 6-10. At about 4pm July 10, Seabird Hyatt emailed me to remind me that they arranged for our move to Mission Pacific, and provided a $300 resort credit along with discounted valet parking as a gesture of goodwill. ABSOLUTELY NOT! They made us a reservation only, and the resort credit and discounted valet parking was part of the package we paid for back in February! Absolutely NOTHING was provided as a gesture of goodwill. Furthermore, our Costco package included a rental car that we had no intention of using, but the price was cheaper. We ended up losing about $36 for the stress of booking at Seabird Hyatt, with an upgraded room with ocean view that was downgraded upon arrival. Seabird had the entire week of our stay to contact us and attempt to make things right. We are quite disappointed in the way this hotel treats their return guests. I do not recommend Seabird Hyatt in Oceanside, California at all.
