From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the gentleman at the front desk who was extremely friendly and welcoming. I wish I knew his name because he truly deserves recognition for his kindness and professionalism. He makes the check-in experience so pleasant and sets a positive tone for the entire stay. The hotel is always clean, comfortable, and inviting. The rooms are cozy, the beds are comfortable, and the Jacuzzi tub is the perfect way to relax and unwind. AVOID THIS HOTEL OF HORROR. We began to realize what we were in for when a man told us to use the elevator at our peril (he made a jumpy hand motion to indicate how it "broke" when he was on it). Our experience did not improve when we found the stairs, which lay past a door behind which a dog was chronically barking and the owner chronically yelling, with stains on the carpet and a suspiciously biohazardous smell in the hallway. The stairwell, which became increasingly littered with what looked like wrapping paper, cardboard box shreds, and other detritus during our stay, smelled like mildew. This was a helpful foreshadowing for the room itself, which was a petri dish of microorganisms who all but delivered a holiday greeting when we entered. There was mold on the carpet, mold on the walls, mold on the tatty couch, and mold on the ceiling. If you made the mistake of looking behind a piece of furniture, you would see a pileup of filth that had clearly never been vacuumed. Luckily, there did not seem to be bedbugs, though I checked for evidence before gingerly easing my person onto the sheets. We did not eat breakfast there, because how could you? Not the same appearance of hotel posted in what appears to be the business photos on yelp. Two stars for running water and AC? I feel bad giving this review, because it's not the employees fault.... it's whomever owns this hotel. The location doesn't feel safe. Walking from my car to the front door at night is unnerving. When I passed the front desk, there was no employees. Anyone can walk into the hotel. That's from customers, to the people that appear to be under an influence around outside. Not something that anyone can change in regard to the location. However the hotel owner can invest in the hotel. The elevator is dirty, when I got off on my floor there were two large stinking over filled garbage bins. Along with a room that would be great for a haunted house. As I walked to my room the carpets are stained, the walls have spills running down them, my "white" towels were a tinge of yellow and were so dated the fabric is thinned. One of my towels when I held it up had what appeared to be dirt all over it. I debated on just air drying, but chose the least worrisome towel. They have shower curtains .... it's been a while since I had a hotel shower curtain stick to my rear. If that shower curtain could talk. Ick. The rod was bent to where it wouldn't close. So I showered holding it closed with one hand because the water was flying out. The sheets are so old they are pilling all over. Fun fact... I bring my own pillow case. As I went to put the pillow case on, the hotel pillow case has holes. Anything metal in this room is rusted. Someone else told me their tub was clogged and filling up as they showered. (Yuck!) I wouldn't choose to stay here again, and if my company wants me to stay here again... I will pay the difference at a better quality hotel/location. The pro for the hotel.... there is a Cracker Barrel in front of it if you enjoy Cracker Barrel, they have a small refrigerator in the room, there is a microwave, they have a waffle maker to use downstairs for breakfast, coffee and you can request a bagel at the front desk. Now it's up to you to Way your options. Oh, plenty of parking. The room was $155 a night. If the owner is reading this.... I will post photos. Found FLEAS in room during stay from 11/20/2024-11/23/2024. Brought to management's attention asap. Management claimed they then completed a deep cleaning and carpet shampoo the second day. I found no evidence of the cleaning, and continued to find a few fleas in the bathroom during remainder of stay. When I continued to complain to the front desk, there was no effort to resolve, just that "the Manager would take care of me". We paid over $300 for a room and was told that didn't include a lobby to talk with our friends, the pool was closed for no reason, and then was asked to not kick a soccer ball in the parking lot as we ran out of room to go with our 7 year olds who all just wanted to hang out together. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. I wanted a hotel close to where my grandmother lives as I was there to attend my grandfather's memorial. Distance mattered and I didn't want to be that far, so I selected this hotel based on proximity. I have regrets. The hotel is receiving two stars simply for two reasons - the breakfast is lovely and the front desk staff is very nice. If not for those two it would receive one star from me. The breakfast is really nice. The food keeps coming - fluffy eggs, bacon, waffles, muffins, cereal, toast, and yogurts - it was all very fresh. The lady who oversees it works seven days a week, five hours each day and does a marvelous job at keeping the space tidy and neat. None of the dishes ran out. She was the hardest worker. The front desk staff was always very nice too. They showed care and concern appropriately. Another highlight was there was plenty of parking and the lot was well lit. No matter what time I returned I could find parking. Nothing else was good. My father thought a rager of a party must of been had in our room at one point. A huge party or a bad remodel. There were several areas of the bathroom that had large sections of the wall patched and not well - under the mirror and by the door most noticeably. The paint on the door was flaking off. The room was not maintained or cleaned well. The first day I was there I found 3 dried out contacts sticking to the bathroom floor. We were in a room with hardwood floors and whatever was used on them left a coating that turned my socks black. I regretted walking barefoot one night as it had a gummy feel. The sheets were often riddled with washed in stains. It was very unsightly. A couple nights the room was not cleaned at all. The last night I was there an incident occurred that left me highly disturbed. The front desk was extremely apologetic and compensated me but I'm still waiting for a phone call to learn the results of their investigation. That was 5 days ago. I am hoping to hear from them soon but would highly recommend that if you choose to stay here check the room thoroughly and not just the first night but every night. The front desk noted all my complaints and was apologetic, and maybe I was simply in a terrible room but I'm not going back to give them another chance. read more

I was perplexed by the behavior of the manager and a few of the other scarred employees. They actually packed up my belongings while I was in the parking lot looking for a lost part of my bicycle. They said my card would not work for another nights stay. I asked them why they didn't call me and I was told it's not their job to call me !! Then they threw my bags into the driveway and told me to get off the property. I believe this was all over my bicycle being place behind a shed while it was not rideable. I am missing a potion of my things and would love to get them returned to me. read more

I had a horrible expiration at Best Western. Our first room was beyond filthy, I even have pictures to prove it. The rooms smelled horrible and were not worth it in any capacity. I am clueless how this was reviewed and rated at over an 8. If anything, a negative 8 would gave been more appropriate. So after the disgusting room and having the inconvenience of having to change rooms and waste our vacation time. After we checked out, the active manager came out and literally yelled and screamed at my husband and then me while in the parking lot because we wanted to put a regular Walmart bag with 2 empty cups and a couple candy wrappers in their outside trash can. At first Wayne wouldn't even give me his name because I told him I planned to review my disappointment and dissatisfaction. My husband went in to get the general managers information so we could reach out directly, but Wayne was now inside and ignored my husband. Between the horrendous customer service and the condition of the room and hotel itself (there was spit/ flem on the floor of the elevator and just filth in general!) I will not stay here again. Staff and patrons do not wear masks despite signs requiring them. This hotel is very noisy with people running around all night, knocking on doors, and loud voices. If I could rate this place negative stars, I would. What a dump! I don't know who rated this hotel to get it to "very good" status, but it's FAR from good. We endured 3 of our 5 night stay here and decided we couldn't do it anymore. The rooms are dirty and musty with hair all over the floors. The windows are bolted shut and the bathroom has no fan. The only air circulation is the air conditioner/heater under the window. Housekeeping stopped doing their job and we, instead, received a typed note shoved under our door. The noted stated one of their staff didn't come in to work so our room wouldn't be serviced. The elevator gets stuck regularly and alerts you that you have to wait for security so you can't get out immediately. Taking the stairs was an entirely new adventure. It felt like playing Frogger while avoiding puke, food, spilled drinks and trash. We alerted the desk staff of this and they did nothing to clean it up after 24 hours of informing them. The supposed "breakfast" was never to be experienced since the hotel is a biohazard and we were afraid of getting sick. The vending machines take your money and never worked correctly. read more

This is by hands the worst place I have ever stayed at and I stay in hotels over 40 nights a year. They posted a sign that said all the common areas are closed for no reason then we were out side, because we couldn't be inside, and they told us we couldn't congregate outside either. Instead of being polite they told us it was a privately owned hotel and they could kick us out. The demeanor from the staff was the opposite of accommodating. I am be side myself. read more

I stayed here because it had a great rating and was less expensive than the Hampton. Now having stayed here I would highly recommend paying up and staying at the Hampton. First, the location is in a rough area of town. I thought it was right downtown by the water where the Hampton's but it wasn't. Second, the building is old, worn down and I would not give it a "plus" rating. To me it was more like a motel. Next, the breakfast was awful. You had a chose of a pre-made omelet or scrambled eggs that tasted like it was out for a long time. There was some yogurt, bagels and breads. Honestly, I bought breakfast each day. Next, the internet was so slow my iPhone wouldn't even download an app. Finally, when I checked in I was added as a member even though I said no. Hey fixed it but still... There is a saving grace though! The rooms are actually decent. The beds were comfortable. It comes with a microwave and fridge. The air conditioning gets the room nice and cool. If you just need a quick place to crash in a decent bed then this hotel is not bad. However, if you care more than that then go somewhere else. read more

The staff was very friendly, location was good to the boat docks which we needed. They didn't mind my 27 foot boat out front taking up 8 parking spots nor did they mind my dog. The only issue I had was that the room was very very moist. Yup Moist! Sounds gross cause it is. The towels we hung never dried, which meant I needed fresh ones daily. The floor never dried up after a shower. My Birkenstocks i kept on a shelf became damp from just being in the room. The rug in the room also felt not dry which meant I always kept my sandals on. It was very odd to be honest. We didn't leave simply because we left by 830am and boated all day and returned past 7. To repeat it the next day. Would I stay again probably not, just can't do all the moist crap the staff was very nice and friendly though. The rooms do need to be checked out for sure. We booked our Suite with a Kitchenette and pre-paid $1,042.23 in advance for the room. When we check in, we were told that there was no internet or t.v. service. when we got to our room it was a standard room. When I asked, we were told the manager Debbie gave it to someone else. The gentleman behind the counter called the Marriott and got us a suite there. When we have asked a couple times for our money back, we were simply told no. This is a revision of an earlier review. We picked the hotel to be close to the beach but also shopping and that was perfect- several great restaurants, big box stores close by and not far to the beach. It was exceptionally clean and since I advised it was our anniversary, the staff had left a dozen roses in the room. Very kind! We slept through the complimentary breakfast but tried the coffee, when I stated that we thought it was a little weak, the manager offered to remake it stronger! The bath/shower water was hot and the room was quiet, except for one barking dog. I did complain and the manager said it was a service dog and he would move us if we asked to, but it was our last day. We enjoyed our short stay at this Best Western very much. The front desk staff was wonderful and so was the breakfast. The room was very comfortable and there were many amenities such as a beautiful pool and a gymnasium. My favorite amenity was that we were able to have our little dog with us. The reason I gave it four stars is that the floor and the carpet in the room were a bit dirty. I would definitely recommend this hotel though. A good value for your $$ read more

Recently stayed in mid June, I had two rooms, one had an awful smell and had to relocate us to another room. The general housekeeping is poor, they did not clean the used coffee makers and left us with previously used mini shampoo and conditioners in our room, instead of new shampoo and conditioners. Our main nightmare was the demeaning attitude of the front desk. Upon a normal request for another room we were told by the front desk that she leaves in 20 minutes and therefore to talk to the next office Manager. We brought the issue to Oscar Haack the Day Office Manager and he accused us of not paying the appropriate dog fare, which if he had seen our file would notice that it was paid for. We as members of the Best Western Rewards found His attitude disrespectful and accusing. I am sure that this is unacceptable behavior, specially when dealing with customers. In summary, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! read more

This hotel had excellent bang for your buck! It was extremely clean and I loved the decor. Our room was great, no noise problems and everything worked perfectly. I loved that they were making an effort to be environmentally conscious by giving us the option to save our towels/sheets for the next day rather than having them all changed out. The continental breakfast was great both in quality and quantity of options. The only thing I would change is to have more than one person at the front desk. It was only 8:00 pm when we arrived and she was trying to check us in and take two phone calls at once. The staff here at the Best Western Plus was great and very accommodating. We were previously staying down the road in a not so nice part of town and they helped us out with getting a room at an affordable rate (during peak season Feb-Mar). The staff at the front desk had allowed us to check in early at around 12 noon so we could get ready for a wedding we were attending, which was a tremendous help to us. I would highly recommend this hotel just on the service alone. The room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool and had a California King. Our room was immaculate, the bathrooms were beautiful and we had about 10 towels to our disposal which is pretty amazing. I am very impressed with this Best Western and we've already discussed staying there again as a "no brainer" when we return to the area. read more

most horrible experience ever! we live a short distance away but new floors were being put in so we thought we wold stay somewhere close. i made reservation on line and arrived shortly thereafter early evening the gentleman clerk was anything but customer friendly. asked for a room other than first floor and he immediately said no. ok, it is what it is lets move on. put in disgusting room # 114. as soon as we unpacked we heard a dog barking in room next to us. it was constant. went to front desk and he said "yeah i know" i said well i want another room. he said hotel was full which i know was not true. then he said "what am i supposed to do about it, its not my fault." he was so rude. bathroom disgusting, no water pressure and a dirty shower seat. no place to put shampoo or soap other than dirty shower seat. stay away! read more

I gave this 5 stars because of my complete satisfaction with this hotel. We came in on an early flight from NY for a funeral. The manager Chris was so gracious to let us check in early so we could nap. The room was clean, air conditioning was working great. Clean bathroom. Lovely breakfast. This hotel is ok. The first room we were assigned smelled of smoke. The front desk was very accommodating and switched us to another room. This room the ac does not work. The air in the room is very damp. The room is not cool in spite of my turning the thermostat to 67 degrees. I feel like I'm sleeping in wetness. Nice place, good service, overall solid experience. Rooms are somewhat small. However, the extremely high ceiling made it feel larger than it was. Overall, it's exactly as the name would imply, "Best Western Plus." It more closely resembles a Hampton Inn. Breakfast is good. However not what you would get from other "Plus" style hotels (cook-your-own packaged oatmeal here vs. already cooked oatmeal with toppings elsewhere). However, considering other "Plus" style hotels in the area were well over $200/night, and were further away from the action, the Best Western Plus Manatee Hotel is a great choice and great value. read more

We stayed one night on our trip through the area. The rooms have been nicely renovated, clean carpet and overall nice conditions. When we checked into our room the minute we opened the door there was a very strong mold smell. After looking around we noticed the mold was growing on the ceiling. See attached picture. We went back to the front desk and they were very accommodating. She apologized and immediately offered to move us to another room which she did. We arrived at the hotel for our anniversary. We had booked our stay through another site four months prior that they allow booking through and our chosen room was messed up by the computer. We had picked the room with the jacuzzi and they gave us a standard King room. I called down to the main desk who said to call the main office. The woman at the front desk was the only saving grace of the entire hotel. The main office did not care and basically said had the nicer room been available we could pay the difference or we could just find another hotel. They continued to blame me despite the fact I am a year out from obtaining my doctorate and know what room I booked and that the error was not on my end. I will never stay at a Best Western ever again and when I informed him of that he was unapologetic. I recommend the Hyatt in Sarasota instead where we were greeted with a congratulations after booking last minute with an additional offer to send wine or champagne up to our room. read more
