Recently road-tripping through Oregon and easily this hotel is one of my favorites, because: 1. If traveling in a large party (we had 6 people), this hotel had one room with 1 king and 2 queen beds, double sink outside the bathroom, 2 large flat screen TV's, microwave, fridge and small table and chairs in one entire room. Priced great too. 2. Hot free breakfast with beverage, made to order at the next door restaurant was included with our stay 3. Located near the Columbia River was a beautiful view and stroll in the morning 4. Indoor swimming pool here 5. Hotel had a text messaging system, where staff would periodically text me to see if me or my group had any needs or complaints. 6. No bed bugs, but a spider and a flying insect -wasn't enough to minus a star rating from me 7. Check-in and process was easy, quick and not a problem 8. Best location for multiple waterfalls within a reasonable, driving distance (Multnomah falls was about 20 minutes from here in the rain, Bridevail and Latourelle Falls aren't too far as well). The room itself was already a nightmare. $330-$350 a night for a space that smelled stale, was crawling with GNATS, and looked nothing like the photos online. The carpet was dirty, the walls were dingy, and the advertised hot tub was under construction in a filthy pool area, blocked off with a rusty fence. Dingy, depressing, and dirty. But the real horror show wasn't the room -- it was the front desk clerk, Holly. I went downstairs and calmly asked about the cancellation policy. That's it. She explained 24 hrs then asked me if the room wasn't to my liking, and I replied (still calm) that the room didn't meet my expectations and didn't match the online photos. Instead of just telling me the policy, she gave me an up and down look, brows to her hairline, then snapped that the hotel was "renovated last year!" I said I was surprised, because it didn't look like it. From there, she completely unraveled. She was condescending. I asked her why she had a pissy attitude and she lost it. She started screaming at me in the lobby, gaslighting me that I it was me who had an "attitude" (I did but not until she escalated things. I don't start fights but I will absolutely stick up for myself. I'm almost 40 years old and not playing that game anymore of acquiescence). It just escalated and I had to yell to even be heard and said "I just asked about the cancellation policy, are you insane?!" and when I finally asked why she was treating me like that, she straight up called me a bitch and told me to go rot in hell. There were witnesses to this- other EMPLOYEES. I snapped back sure I own that realm because frankly, this is unacceptable. THE OTHER EMOLOYEE GANGED UP ON ME and said "we can tell." And if that wasn't enough, she then taunted me to her coworkers, mocking, "Great, looks like we got a room now!" -- as if humiliating a paying guest was part of the fun. The kicker: It literally never had to be a thing. If she had just explained the policy politely, I would've asked to shorten our stay and only be stuck one night, and been on my way. Instead, I was screamed at, insulted, belittled, and threatened. At a Best Western. For $330 a night. The office manager was very kind when she called to inquire. I apologize as I forget her name, but I did appreciate the follow up from her and though I was pissed, we had a constructive conversation. I understand the employee may have be going through some personal hardships, but I can assure you when my own mother died and I returned to work, I wasn't screaming at my patients or my coworkers. So to me, that's not an excuse. Overall: no amenities, not up kept to the standard that is presented online, and horrible front desk. A better option is the Bonneville Hot Springs Spa. $100 less on the stay, it has AMAZING rooms and grand lobby, fire pits, bags, putt putt, a restaurant, a spa, and a bar. Real amenities for the price you pay, and the staff were fantastic. Go there instead of here. Bad experience aside, just these things alone make it a better choice if I'm trying to be objective about it (although I know I'm upset and it probably isn't, I still stand by that statement). read more

Sometimes you need some time away, even just a weekend. This can be especially true when you have a teenager residing in your home. It was mid-October and we planned a trip through Hood River and into the fruit loop to gather apples and pears for canning. The thought of coming back home right away was less than appealing so we decided to book a night in Cascade Locks. The Best Western Plus is so close to the bridge across the Columbia that you could walk to it easily. It makes a beautiful background for the weekend though. We checked in and were greeted and treated well by the staff. With our room for the evening came an invitation to a social hour with free drinks and a snacks in the bar. Breakfast was supplied next door at The Bridge restaurant the next morning. The rooms have been pleasant, clean, and well kept. It is a nice escape from the drudgery of everyday life. Stayed 2 nights on a business trip. The staff was welcoming and super friendly. The hotel is clean, and there's an automatic coffee machine in the lobby that makes a nice assortment of coffees, mocha, lattes, and teas. This was nice. Regular coffee was also in the room, along with a refrigerator. The indoor pool and spa are open late. I think until 11 pm. The room was clean, the linens were fresh, and the bed was comfortable. The included breakfast is from the restaurant next door. It's hot, made to order, plenty of food and is really good. There are multiple selection options as well. Last but definitely not least, the view from our room was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is right on the Columbia River, and our room had a gorgeous view of the river, the mountains, and the Bridge of the Gods. I would definitely choose this hotel again. Check in was a bit peculiar - normally with gold or platinum status you get an early check-in, not so at this hotel, because the housekeepers don't start until later in the day. My wife and I stayed at Best Western for a couple days while playing on the nearby trails. Reservations were easy to make online. Check-in and check/out was seamless. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Ample parking is available in the parking lot. Complimentary coffee and tea is offered in the lobby. Odd numbered rooms have a view of the river and passing trains while even numbered rooms have a view of the parking lot and street. We stayed in room 103. Rates for a Saturday night were $229.99 + taxes. Rates for a Sunday night were $179.99 + taxes. Our room had a king size bed, couch, table and chair, flat screen TV, jetted tub, mini-fridge, single serve coffee pot, microwave, and basic amenities. Rooms have A/C. Our room was clean and offered a nice view. I enjoyed our view as well as listening to the trains passing by. A complimentary breakfast is offered for each night's stay at the neighboring restaurant Bridgeside. Best Western offers outdoor seating upstairs as well as downstairs for those who wish to enjoy the outdoor views and sounds. Benches can be found alongside the paved walking trail. A small gym is also available for those who wish to get their fitness on. Dining options are limited in Cascade Locks so be sure to bring ample snacks while visiting. I was really impressed by this hotel on every level. I could hardly believe it was actually a Best Western because it felt more upscale. I loved the location and view of Bridge of the Gods. We had a great stay here in mid-April. Our room overlooked the Columbia River and had a nice view of the Bridge of the Gods. Comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. Note that there is some train noise day and night, but that's because there are train tracks along both the north and south sides of the river. We stayed here while visiting Multinomah Falls which is only about 1/2 hour drive away. The hotel is right on the Colombia River so the view of the river is great. Only deal is there are freight trains that run near the hotel so the hotel provides ear plugs. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, No housing cleaning though. There is a work out room which is nice. There is a relief area for your dog. The location of this hotel is incredible. The views of the Gorge from the river view rooms are outstanding! Plus, you're close to several hiking trails and have immediate access to the Bridge of the Gods. The room was immaculate and had a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. The staff was upbeat and welcoming. The gym is small but has just the right mix of machines to get that heart pumping. The pool is currently open to a max of 10 guests at a time and looks to be well maintained. The complimentary breakfast at the neighboring Bridgeside Restaurant included options ranging from oatmeal with a poached spiced pear to biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on the side...delicious. This was a 2 night stay. Oh, Best Western, you did me wrong.... and many, many other people. We arrived on a Friday night and while checking in we noticed a regular sized piece of paper on the desk, so I glanced at it, not really noticing but my travel partner took a closer look and brought it to my attention. It said that the hotel would be without power from 10pm to 6am. WHAT? Now, if this were at my home, I wouldn't really care, we have cold nights in Seattle even during summer, so no need for AC, and just don't open the fridge and all is well. But at a hotel where I'm paying almost $300 a night and it's hot outside and we need air conditioning. No, just no. However, it wasn't the receptionist fault, so I tried not to take it out on her. I asked why we weren't notified, she said the hotel called every guest, so I pulled my phone out and checked history. No such call. I asked if we would get a discount? The answer was no. Hmmm. So she offered 1000 bonus points. What is that? Ten dollars I asked? She said she didn't know. Every other decent hotel in the gorge was booked of course, and so we signed in and then went out to dinner in Troutdale at a fine little Italian restaurant that restored our mood. When we returned she said she gave us 5000 bonus points and gave us some care bags with water, sun chips and cookies. That was nice. But still, no electricity after 10pm. So I took the kid down to the pool. UGH. I let her swim, but it was a toss up, that pool needed a thorough scrubbing and maybe a new filter. The water was clear but had a light greenish tint and there was plainly visible brown scum here and there on the bottom and sides of the pool. The hotel room was fine, clean and non-descript, but the view was stunning from our 3rd floor room. So we cranked up the AC to 65 and turned the room into a refrigerator. At 10 sharp the power went out. Time to go to sleep, but...the power was supposed to be back on at 6am, so at least we could get up early, take a shower STYLE MY HAIR, go to breakfast, and go. HAHAHAHAHA. No. That was not to be. Now, to be fair, the outage was caused by Bonneville Power which was repairing some lines. Not the hotel. However, 6am came and went, so did 7am. While we waited, while the water turned cold. While I watched the morning slip away. Finally at 7:42, the power was back on. Okay, time to do the hair and go next door to the restaurant where the hotel gives out a voucher for breakfast, a breakfast that we couldn't have before the power came back on because their power was out too. So now it's 10:30 and we're finally ready to leave for the day. Gawd. That morning when we went down we witnessed screaming hotel guests who probably hadn't noticed nor read the paper sign and were livid. They wanted a manager.... but there were none on site. Wow. Seriously though, I felt terrible for the two women working the desk. There was a guy who was completely out of control and scary, we rushed the kidster out of the lobby so she didn't have to see a grown man behave like a troubled 2 year old. The breakfast was good, I have to say. Very hearty and well made. If it hadn't been for the lack of notification regarding the 9 hour and 42 minute outage I would've given this hotel 4 stars. Because of the pool, I think it's really a 3.5 star hotel, but Yelp doesn't offer that, so I'd round up to 4. But the lack of communication was bad form, so was the lack of management during this event. Really bad form. In fact, I think the management, by not being present during this outage, is cowardly. We found several pubic hairs in our sheets under the bedspread. We called front desk and the lady came up and got us new sheets and bedspread. I try to be fair in reviews but all it takes is this to ruin a stay. It's gross. We then had to make our own bed. This is an expensive place for us $576.11 for 2 nights. For this price it's not much to ask for clean sheets. Maybe this is a rare event but Management needs to do a better job in knowing what house keeping is doing. read more

A great hotel with amazing views of the mountains and the Columbia River. Because I'm not big on camping, my husband and I stayed here while doing a PCT hike and Gifford Pinchot hikes. For the complimentary breakfast and views alone, this hotel is a steal. While the room we stayed in was a bit outdated and the bathroom had poor ventilation, we still slept well and were comfortable for the most part. My favorite part about the hotel was the complimentary breakfast- it was one of the best and most satisfying breakfasts I've had from a hotel. They give you vouchers to retrieve your breakfast entree of choice from the restaurant next door and I was surprised that they were full meals with eggs, hashbrowns, toast, etc. It was the perfect way to start our day and so delicious! For dinner, we'd often sit outside to enjoy the sunset views of the Columbia River. Even though this hotel it located on the main road near the Bridge of Gods, it is still very quiet and peaceful. We are already planning our next stay here for our Gorge exploration! read more

I loved my stay here. We stayed in November, and it was quiet, private, and relaxing. The only down fall is the trains behind the building, but they honestly didn't bother me. The rooms are nice with a woodsy rustic feel. Breakfast is included at the restaurant next door. Lovely stay. We had a river gorge view room. Even though I was only 45 minutes from Portland, I felt miles away from the big city stress mess. Definitely recommend this place. Rates are very reasonable in the fall, winter, and spring. I actually was able to enjoy and spend time in Cascade Locks. I usually bypass this place or only make a pit stop. This really gave me gratitude for recharging myself in the gorge. Highly recommend for a mini getaway weekend. We were upgraded to a balcony room because we were Best Western members and Best Western Credit card holders. The only down fall was we had to ask for the upgrade when checking in while most Best Western hotels do this automatically. We also asked if we could extend our stay until 12:30 pm but could only extend it until 12:15 pm. Otherwise, I loved my stay here and would stay again. read more

The breakfast was at a nearby restaurant and was hot and fresh not the cold sack breakfast most hotels are serving these days. Ate breakfast with the amazing Columbia River. The bed was so comfortable. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options in the area. From veggie dogs to beyond meat burgers and that's a big deal. I highly recommend this place and will be back. This hotel had a great location and the room had new furniture which was beautiful. The staff at the front desk were all very nice and the Manager shook our hands and thanked us for coming. My only regret is that I didn't spend the extra money to upgrade our room to a river view. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the food was great. Best experience I have ever had at a Best Western. Don't let that name concern you! The breakfast is a food voucher for a restaurant nextdoor. Highly recommend the breakfast! Best Western in Cascade Locks gets an A+ in my book!! Great customer service and views are breathtaking!!! The front office staff is very friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed. We stayed on the ground level room with a view. Room came equipped with DirecTV service, microwave, mini fridge and hot tub. Room was spacious and clean but best part was the view! WOW, such a serene experience. Pictures I provided really don't do it justice. Took them early morning before the sun came out. The hotel amenities include workout room, indoor pool, vending machines and cafe next door. We received vouchers for free breakfast to the cafe with our stay and the selections were hearty and tasty. Cascade Locks is a peaceful area just across the Bridge of Gods. It's a small town with so much to offer. It's about 30 mins away from Multnomah Falls and 45 mins from Portland. We visited towards the end of September and the weather was very pleasant. Got some sunshine but you still needed a sweater or jacket when going out. Overall, we had an amazing visit and will definitely come back to visit our friends at Best Western Plus Colombia River Inn. Highly recommend this place!! read more

We stayed one night at this motel in a suite riverview with 2 queen beds. We loved the layout and size of the room. The view of the river was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable & the room was clean. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. We really liked having a love seat, two chairs, and dining table for 4. The motel is NOT the fanciest motel I have stayed in but we liked our room. The motel was in walking distance from several choices for restaurants. Breakfast was served in a restaurant that was next door. The prices were very reasonable & the food was good, as was the view of the Columbia River. The hotel gave out complimentary coupons to discount the price of breakfast. (It was free if you got the grab & go breakfast-) The only negative was that trains pass frequntly and were quite loud. My hubby had trouble sleeping due to this, however, I chose to wear the ear plugs provided in the room and slept sounfly to the hum or the rumble! read more

Only giving 1 star, our experience at this beautiful hotel was not a good one. When I arrived to check in the lady at the front desk was short with me as when my husband made our reservations they failed to add my name. She gave me a number for him to call her at the desk, this was not an easy task for him as he was at work. He couldn't get through to them he called me back, I put gim on speaker and she said no he had to call her personally. Meanwhile it is a pet Friendly hotel, even though I have a service dog. There was alot of people in the lobby as there should be at check in, my dog was not barking but using her inside voice witch is very quiet, by the look of it the office manager came out to the desk and wrote on a piece of paper right in front of me about the 200 dollar fine for barking dogs, slid it to the lady waiting for my husband to get threw on the phone, as if I didn't read it as she was writing, the lady wrote her back then took it to her. When she returned she verbally told me the pet policy even though she gave me the paper to read on my own. After 20 plus minutes in the lobby my husband finally got threw to the desk and I was able to check in. At this point now I'm terrified that I will get hit with a 200 dollar fine as they put us in the very first room by the lobby. Very high traffic with yelling and running kids in the hall. I was told dog was not allowed in the restaurant that she could stay in the room, not happening cause I would get a fi e for sure. My husband got off work and finally arrived, he saw another guest outside with their dog, he asked them if they were verbally told about the pet policy he said no all he got was just the paper. I ordered our food on the phone told them I would pick it up to save on a room service charge. Took 45 minutes to get the call for dinner totally understandable for a nice restaurant. I went picked up our food there was a charge for room service. I took up our food a bit frustrated at this point, the food looked delicious I had ordered my steak rare I cut into it it was beyond well done. I took ot back to the restaurant told the lady she said she will see what she can do. I sat at the bar waiting and I looked to my left and low and behold the couple eating a nice Dinner had their dog under the table!!!! Then the lady ce and said they would comp my dinner and give me a free dessert, or they could cook it again, I was hungry and wanted my dinner not just dessert, so she said okay we will re cook it, after about 5 minutes of waiting she asked if I would prefer them to bring it to me, I said oh absolutely that would be great, 30 minutes later husband had to call to see whare my dinner was. It cam 5 minutes later, my steak was cooked to medium rare instead of rare, not sure how hard that is to do being such a beautiful restaurant, I ate it anyway cause by this point I was at about 2 hour from when I ordered it. They did not pick up our dinner plates till about 9 am the next morning, we will never stay here again they are not welcoming with pets as they pretend to be, I felt like I was being attacked at the desk cause of my dog, she is a very quiet dog it was just overwhelming for her in the lobby. Exactly what we needed! We just wanted a nice drive and peaceful place to get away for the weekend and this fit the bill nicely! There were a few things that were less than perfect like the parking lot that abutted our window, the munchkin height toilet and the heater that would blast warm air and then go off suddenly, hence the 4 stars. But there were so many nice things, like the warm welcome from the staff, amazing location right next to the river and bridge of the Gods, the spacious room layout with love seat, desk and king bed, the indoor pool & jacuzzi, the exercise room with view of the water, great little shampoos, soaps, teas and coffee, we really enjoyed the breakfast provided by the restaurant next door, the eggs, hash browns and granola hit the spot! We loved this hotel! It was just across the water from Stevenson, WA with easy access to the Bridge of the Gods I loved the work out center as the view was amazing. My kids and hubby loved the free breakfast they gave us at the restaurant next door. The bed was perfect. read more
