Stayed one night after delayed/canceled flights from LGA. Hotel was ok for the $280 price. Beds were comfortable, noise wasn't an issue and shower was good. Toilet was industrial strength which was unusual but it worked. It was humid and a/c worked great. Keurig in room was appreciated! Free coffe/tea always great. Checking in was pretty quick. We ate at the adjacent Marbella restaurant (not affiliated with hotel as stated by sign). I will write a separate review for that weird experience! We didn't have much time for dinner so it was convenient to have that option. Elevator worked and our 1st floor room was actually elevated above street level & parking which was nice. Breakfast was included but we skipped it. A coffee machine in lobby looked nice but my cappuccino wasn't good. Upon arrival and check-in, Matt was very helpful and prompt with keys. We walked into our reserved king room to find three wasps flying around (!!!), the thermostat unusable and falling off the wall and the wallpaper peeling. Thankfully my partner was there to catch the wasps or I wouldve left the room immediately. We brought our new buzzing friends back to Matt at the front desk who was horrified at the situation. He offered to "upgrade" us to a double bed or walk to the sister property across the street. After a full travel day, I was less than pleased at either "upgrade" and said I would sleep in my wasp-free room for the night but wanted to talk to a manager. Matt said the manager would be in at nine and would absolutely talk to us. The next morning, I spoke with Chris at the front desk and explained the situation. He looked equally as horrified and tried to reach his manager who was still not in at eleven o'clock in the morning. He took down my contact information and said he would speak to his manager about issuing a refund and be in touch. Shortly, he realized the booking was through Expedia and explained I should have Expedia advocate on my behalf as the third party booking site. I did so and was told by the rep that they would reach out to Best Western to issue a refund after my terrible stay. Within 48 hours, I received an email from Expedia saying the request was DENIED by the hotel and that according to policies there was nothing to done. Expedia tried to rectify the situation with a credit to my account for $75. But for over $300 a night, I expect SO MUCH MORE from a hotel. SHAME ON YOU BEST WESTERN. **EDIT** Since the posting of this review and receiving a response from the owner, I was able to reopen to case through Expedia and request a refund again. I don't even know where to start .. I've stayed at Best Western Hotels in Vermont and they are amazing . NOT THIS ONE !!! The sink is outside the bathroom and it looks like it's ready to detach from the wall . The sink is sinking to the floor haha. Not to mention the sink is so low my knees could brush their teeth if they had any . The front desk people are not necessarily the most friendly either , they sent me a txt around 10:30am the day of my arrival to do a check in , they requested ALL KINDS OF PHOTO ID to be uploaded before the check in . Than once you get to the hotel you literally have to do the same process again . What's the point of uploading things if you'll still have to do it again at check in ??! I thought the whole idea was to save time. I also requested a digital key on my phone and mine was available even tho the app says once you get assigned to a room a key will be available . Making a long story short if you have to be in Bayside do yourself a favor and find another place cause this one is more like you're paying to sleep in a closet than a room. They have parking but it is #1 not big enough to accommodate all the guests and #2 is not very well designed either , there are more columns blocking spots and making difficult to park than an actual parking space . read more

The room was clean and I loved the local photos that treated Bayside as a specific tourist spot because for this staycation, it was, even it though it may not appear in Lonely Planet. The bathroom is too small and the shower is underwhelming but this could be the result of water laws beyond their control. The DirecTV movie offerings might be the best I've ever seen in a hotel. Finally got to watch "Prince Avalanche." I've spent way too much researching NYC-area lodging, and the location is superb if you want something transit-friendly that provides nearby urban hiking and ethnic foods. I could write a book, or at least a blog post, about the cuisines available for delivery, but there's also a wide range of walkable choices in Bayside. It's a 16-minute walk to the LIRR station and the bus to Flushing is right there. Alley Pond Park is a few blocks away, including a pleasant sunset spot at Oakland Lake. read more

He does not understand basic rules of how to speak to a customer and represented the Best Western company in a manner that boarded on harassment when he called my guest room at 10:20pm and uttered insults based on a misstep from his fellow front desk teammates when they extended the room reservation. read more

A nice hotel. We usually stay next door at their sister property, the Adria Hotel and conference center. however, my trip got extended, and they didn't have any double rooms available there, so we moved over here for my last week. As it is next door, everyone is friendly, and helpful... Prices are reasonable, and pretty comparable at both places. We always book through Expedia, Booking.com, , etc, because they are usually better priced than booking with the hotel directly. The location is great. The hotel is on Northern Boulevard, which is one of the main streets of Queens. If you are driving, you are about 30 minutes to an hour to Manhattan depending on traffic and wherever you are going. You are also close to JFK And La Guardia Airports. The bus, subway, and the Long Island Railroad are available, and a Lyft/Uber to Manhattan will cost you 50 to 60 dollars or so, depending on where you are going, and the time of day. You are also very close to the Throg's Neck and Whitestone Bridges if you are heading anywhere North. The hotel is in Eastern Queens, so there's also very easy access to Long Island. The hotel offers free parking, and if the lot is full, you can also park next door at the Adria There is Plenty of shopping, and restaurants of every nationality possible are nearby. DoorDash/Uber Eats/etc... do deliver, and there is even a restaurant in the hotel. Marbella offers Spanish Cuisine, with a great atmosphere. They also have some pasta dishes that are very good. Prices are on the higher end, but the food is plentiful and excellent. They will deliver up to your room for a 20 percent surcharge, but you would pay that as a tip anyway if you dined in the restaurant. The hotel offers a very good hot breakfast in the morning with scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, fruit, cereal, etc... The hotel is a bit older, but the rooms are fine. Very clean. You have a huge TV with DirecTV, the Wi-Fi is much faster than next door, which is nice, the beds are comfortable, and every room comes with a fridge and a microwave. Next door, you have to specifically ask for a microwave to be sent up to your room. The only negative thing that I can say, is that that compared side by side to the Adria, Here, both The room and the bathroom are a bit smaller. Also, Next door, the tub/shower has a grab bar if you slip, but here, no bar, and no rubber mat. Also, Because the room is smaller, there is less storage space as well. When I visit, I often stay for several weeks, and that does make a difference. If you have mobility issues, I have seen the handicapped accessible room. That room has plenty of room to move around in, and the bathroom with the walk-in shower with a bench is a very nice set up. Overall,, I would gladly stay here again. Thanks!!!0 read more

He made us felt understood and did everything in his power to have us feel comfortable staying longer. I wish I could put negative stars. Currently staying here and went out during Halloween weekend. After ubering back, we walked to 7/11 to buy water and snacks. One person at front desk is doing her make up for Halloween. 7/11 was closed and upon returning we asked if we can receive some water, as our hotel room came with complimentary water. She answers us as she's doing her make up - there's no water here, there's one in the room. So we go to the vending machines, they only take single dollar bills. We ask her if she has singles to break our bills, she says no, we mostly use cards (but their machines only accept singles) I ask her where are we supposed to get water? She said you can just drive (in an annoyed tone) I was appalled since it's clear we are under the influence of alcohol. It's 2 am!! I tell her how are we gonna drive if we arent sober? Completely ignores us and turns her head away from us to continue doing her make up. I wish there was a manager to speak to in this moment since her counterpart just stares at us with no input as well. We get in the elevator disappointed and shocked from our encounter and hear them talking about how stupid we are and calling us profanities. I wanted to ask for her name but did not want to escalate the situation further. I hope management sees this and does something about future treatment of their guests. read more

Dated and dingy. I usually enjoy best western hotels but this is on the very low end of what I typically expect. Pillows are lumpy and carpet was sticky and dirty. Bathroom could use some help too. Place definitely could use a makeover. On a positive note, there is parking included and restaurants within walking distance. read more

Awesome free breakfast bar, great customer service, good location in queens (nearby is gyros, korean food, chinese food, bubble tea, sushi, and more great things), and nice room. Room was clean and smelled nice, had a vibrating chair, free water bottle, outlets are easy to use in bed, and Keurig in the room. Also great 24 hour coffee machine downstairs (cappuccinos, black coffee, and espresso). Manhattan is about an hour on the bus, but it's 33$ for the week with a metrocard. Bus also stops right outside of hotel. This place is good for a budget and it is a really nice hotel in Queens. You will have alot of fun here and will not be disappointed in the food or customer service, 5 stars read more

I was in need of a relaxing Jacuzzi bath. I turned the water on, let it fill and turned the jets on. I received a phone call and was on the phone for about five minutes. When i went to get in the tub, sludge was in the water. So disgusting. With technology these days, you would think businesses will at a minimum clean their tubs or risk getting a bad review. To be owned by the same owner as the Adria Hotel next door, this place is nicer. It has been renovated. On the down side the bathroom is very tiny. It has new flat screen HDTVs with DirecTV on them. The room also has a microwave and mini dorm sized refrigerator. Like the Adria Hotel, this hotel is recommended by St. John's University and the stay is discounted. Also, it's a quick ride on the bus or Uber to St. John's campus, as well as easy access to the bus and train to go to Manhattan. I haven't noticed any noisy people on the street outside or noise period. It's been quiet here just like I like it. read more

My husband and I got married on the 3rd, and decided to stay in my hometown for the weekend, since we were doing a brunch on the 4th. During our booking, we let the hotel know that this is for our wedding (sadly, he just moved here from France and we can't afford a honeymoon just yet). When we arrived the Woman at the front desk was so sweet, she also called us when we went upstairs to make sure everything was okay. The cleaning lady made us two swans out of towels on our bed, and they left us a sweet card. The second day she did the same with the swans, but left a heart shape in rose petals on the bed. Someone even brought us up some Rose sparkling wine. How thoughtful! :) The room was a tad on the small side, but everything was set up extremely comfortably. I have a gripe with the bathroom, as it was very tiny and the shower did end up getting randomly cold, but it wasn't a HUGE problem. The people upstairs from us were a bit loud, and it sort of made me feel like I was dealing with my upstairs neighbors, haha. Thankfully the noise didn't persist too late! We asked for more shampoo/conditioner, since the bottles were teeny and they happily brought us up a few more. The elevator is a tad slow, but there are also staircases. Not a big deal. They offer a free breakfast, which is a bit standard - coffee, tea, make your own belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, bagels. The TV has a fair bit of channels, a few came in a bit shaky, and there is no TV guide to let you know what is what. If you are hanging out in your room for a bit, it might be a good idea to bring an IPAD to connect and watch some Netflix (especially if you have kids). I treated myself to a Mother's Day weekend staycation at the Best Western not too far from my home, I should have stayed home. Excellent customer service makes all of the difference in the world. Even though I live locally, if I ever had relatives visiting, I would not recommend that they stay based on the lackluster customer service. When I arrived, the young lady at the front desk was seated so it was hard to see if anyone was even at the front desk. She was not friendly or welcoming. It is important to treat your hotel guests as if you are happy to have them, not as if they are bothering you. I had to ask if there was a wifi password. There was no mention of the continental breakfast location or anything. I was asked for ID and to sign papers. The room was okay, it did not exactly like the pictures. There was a clothing tag and a hair band on the floor so the room was not thoroughly cleaned. The continental breakfast was okay, nothing special. I was hoping that a meal at Marbella's would make up for everything, but the hostess kept responding to me with "WHAT ?" "WHAT ?" as if I was speaking another language so I decided to just go to a nearby deli instead. The highlight of the hotel, the high speed internet. Thats all. Cons: First morning, the coffee machine in the room didn't work; so I bought energy drinks and put in the mini fridge, morning 2, energy drinks where frozen solid, morning 3, no hot water in the bathroom, lukewarm shower. I'll start with the positives. The location, near Bell Ave and about a half-mile walk from the LIRR Bayside train station is convenient. There's a Korean bakery across the street, and plenty of restaurants (and a 7-11) within walking distance. The room seemed clean enough, though the bathroom was a bit small. The TV was large and had a huge amount of channels available. And the hotel had a tight, but free, parking lot. My buddy and I were in town for a friend's wedding, so we decided to share a room. First thing we noticed when we got in was that the room was quite warm. The thermostat was set to 68 (the lowest it can go), but the current temperature was stuck at 80 degrees. At first we thought maybe this was because the sun was beating down on the room and it was very hot outside, so we decided to go to out and see how it was later. Well, we came back to find the room had only cooled down to 79 degrees. Frustrated, we called the front desk and they said they'd send someone to have a look. We waited about 45 minutes and no one came by, so we called again. The front desk staff told us that the maintenance man had been working on the AC in that room the day before and couldn't fix it. Then she offered us a new room. Ok - if you have a room with a broken AC unit, why are you occupying it in July? And when she found out it couldn't be fixed and no one was coming, why didn't she call us back? Not good service at all. We switched rooms, and the new one got as low as 74 degrees. Not as cool as we'd have liked, but comfortable enough to sleep. The next morning I called down to ask for an extra bar of soap for the shower. The guy at the front desk said he'd send one up, but surprise - never arrived. Stuff breaks and staff get busy, I get that. But when you're paying $180 per night, you expect a certain minimum level of service. Expectations were not met. Advice to management, if you care - train or shuffle your staff. Customers should be taken care of and shouldn't need to aggressively pursue remedies to basic needs. read more

A nice little hotel in a convenient location. The rooms are decent sized but as other reviews have noted, the bathrooms are tiny. Comfortable beds and a great channel selection on the TV. The complementary breakfast is good with plenty of choices and the coffee from the machine is surprisingly good! A huge plus is the free parking. read more

We stayed one night in this Best Western and would certainly stay there again. The staff especially was terrific, even to the point of bringing the on call maintenance person in to get us a crib and extra towels. Our room had a king bed and a jacuzzi tub, and we're still had space to squeeze in the crib and a toddler air mattress. Yes it was tight, but it worked. In the morning the breakfast attendant asked us if we needed a high chair and then got it right away. The food was standard hot breakfast fare including fresh bagels, eggs, and cold foods. This hotel also has a small free parking deck on the second floor, which I believe is uncommon for a city hotel. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. read more

I left him a message at about 3pm on Saturday, July 29th, 2017. He returned my call immediately and had the deal done within an hour! That is AMAZING! Assuming one can and should receive a star for niceness and general cleanliness, this is deserving. Beyond that, this place should be avoided at all costs. Rooms not ready at check in time. Registration stunningly slow. Rooms very dated, very small. No staff available to discuss the incessant internal noise -- not from other guests, or external traffic, but apparently from internal pipe. No one objectively could at any time over the past 6 hours stand, sit, or attempt to sleep in room 115 and not hear the constant and I mean constant rattle of pipes or structure settlement. I booked this hotel with one card online, but when I got to the hotel I used a different card to put the deposit on. Before I let them swipe it, I confirmed with them twice that this card would only be used for the deposit and not for the entire stay. Now as I'm checking out they say that the entire stay is on that card and there's nothing they can do. Why would they deceive me like that? I don't understand how it benefitted the hotel at all. It just resulted in an unhappy and confused guest. Lesson learned - I will never stay at a Best Western hotel again. read more

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. First off it is on such a busy street in the middle of a bad neighborhood. Walking into the hotel, the lobby is so small, so outdated and smells terribly. There is a restaurant attached and the doors were open and it smelled of fish. Upon checking in, the lady at the front desk was rude and spoke terrible English. I went to get on the elevator and it wasn't working so up four flights of stairs with three bags of luggage I went. I opened the room the see the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. The beds are full beds. The bathroom was so tiny that you could not close the door while in it. The sink is outside of the bathroom in the middle of the bedroom. I checked for bed bugs which there was none but I did find brown stains on the sheets. Not to mention the room smelled like the restaurant below. The room was very hot so I put on the AC to find that it only blew out hot air. I went to open the window and it wouldn't open. That was enough for me. I got my stuff and went downstairs and told the front desk I would not be staying. The manager came out and I told him my complaints and he was shocked. He told me I had to pay 80% when I was there for 20 minutes total. Do not stay here! Absolutely the worst! read more

I had a great stay at the Best Western, and would come here again, when looking for a hotel. I had a problem with the mini fridge, it made a loud noise, and the reception replaced it. The staff followed through with my concern, and replaced it with a medium size fridge. The housekeeping is very professional and courteous, they always greeted me. They do a great job, and gave me Poland spring bottle water when I was out. Very happy. The bedsheets were clean, and soft. Memory foam top bed! The bathroom toilet flush loud, powerful lol. In the early morning, I can hear through the walls; however, it was not disturbing, can be ignored. The sound didn't last too long. The elevator and the small room to the parking lot was a bit cramp, and outdated. It smelled but not too much. The food was alright, just the eggs tasted weird. Stayed overnight on new years eve 2015, prices were really high but that's expected and this hotel actually offered cheapest rooms I could find in all of Queens and most of Nassau county. Paid 208 for 1 night. Arrived to find a very poorly designed parking lot with not much maneuverability especially when crowded. Checked in around 5 pm quick easy pleasant encounter with staff. Room was on 1st floor room 112 right off of the elevator. Hallways are a bit dated. Room was really good, not big but not small. It's a standard queen room. 2 small lamps with energy efficiency bulbs took long to get bright. Light was far away from mirror. Thankfully there is a lamp by the door with a mirror albeit its hung a bit too low. Placement of outlets seemed odd. No outlets in bathroom. Bathroom modern. Walls were a bit on the thin side. Room bed and bathroom were very clean. No complaints. Would stay again. read more
