Like another reviewer we wished we had read the reviews prior to our stay. We recently spent five(!!) nights here for a family event in Port Washington and really don't know where to begin, except that this is a very 'tired' property. Our original room had a leaky faucet along with the faucet handles and spout being loose. The curtains and window covering were torn and unhooked from the rod along with dirt and grime in the window sill...the towels were torn and had stains...there was dirt (mold?) throughout the bathroom floor and shower. After my wife complained (and btw asked the front desk if they've ever looked at the rooms? two front desk staff replied they had not) they moved us to another room which wasn't any better. The shower pressure was equivalent to a bucket with holes punched in the bottom and after each use there was a mysterious puddle seeping up from the flooring just outside the bathroom door. The air conditioner was loud with no ability to direct the air flow upward...only straight out across the bed so we had to build a wall of pillows to keep from freezing. Horrible experience and unfortunately had no options to change hotels as the US Open was taking place on Long Island during our stay. read more

This is the bare bones hotel. If you need a place to stay that's safe this is fine. But the rooms are outdated, dirty in various areas and stuff broken all over. They have no gym, no frills at all, the staff are just okay too. Not rude but not overly friendly by any means. I'm giving it two stars because I was safe and had somewhere to sleep for the night after a medical procedure but otherwise it's not a nice hotel. The lobby looks decent, the halls and the rooms are not at all. Leaking faucet, ripped curtains, dirt all over the floor and trim. Stains in the bathroom. I wish I had checked these reviews first. They are accurate. The hallways look like a horror movie. Rooms are spare, no info about food or anything. Wi-fi was spotty. The valet kept trying to get me to pay him again after I had already charged the fee to my room. Kind of silly since my car was parked five feet from the hotel entrance. The breakfast was bagels and muffins from a supermarket. No juice or water. Nothing egregiously bad or wrong (except the wi-fi) but overall a budget experience without a budget price. read more

The hotel has a whole lot of flaws. While others complained about the cleaning, I didn't have as much of an issue there (although there were a lot of things in disrepair). The big issues were that when I arrived there was absolutely no parking at the hotel with no warning. I drove in from out of town and was told I could try to find street parking. Most of the parking there is by resident permit only if for longer than an hour or two so this was a huge problem. Second, the room I was out in was right above a party venue (that they also don't advertise). They hosted some kind of party that went to almost 1100p on weeknight and my room literally vibrated non-stopped. It sounded like I was in the party and despite booking the room to sleep while taking care of a family member at a nearby hospital there was no way to sleep at all. I asked to move and the staff told me no because the party was not scheduled to go too late. read more

It's a bare bones motel that just gets the job done. They have absolutely no frills other than that. The bed was comfortable, shower water pressure was great and the grounds were clean for what it's worth. It's in dire need of modernization though as the outlets were non existent, too much unnecessary furniture and stained furniture. It's good if you just need a place to crash if your attending an event in the area because it's 5 minute walk from the LIRR. read more

One of the worst people you'll ever encounter at this hotel is Michael at the front desk. We were two women traveling, and we booked a room at The Andrew for the night of 10/16. Booking a hotel in the evening for the same night is not unusual--I'm certainly not the first person to do it. I made the reservation at 7:00 PM and arrived at 8:00, only to be told by Michael that he couldn't find my reservation online. Fine, maybe it was a system glitch. But then he said the reservation "didn't go through." I had confirmation emails, receipts, everything, yet he refused to acknowledge them. Then I asked about parking. His response? "All spots are reserved. Go outside and find a parking". So, at 8:30 PM, he sent us outside to wander around in the dark to find street parking. Confused and concerned for our safety, we searched for parking while I was on the phone with Expedia trying to resolve the issue. Everyone from Expedia--the escalation team, customer service--tried calling him at the front desk. Michael either ignored their calls or picked up, said "hold," and never bothered to return to the call. At 9:00 PM, we finally found parking and walked back on empty streets as Expedia called us requesting that as no one is picking up at the front desk so please take this call to him. Not once during this whole ordeal did Michael offer us a seat or ask us to wait inside. And to make it worse, when we got back, he was helping another guest, a man, saying he'd will park his car for him! When I asked about the reservation issue, Michael nonchalantly said, "Yeah, the Expedia people are on hold." He didn't even care that they are on hold and finally stopped calling because the hotel never bothered to answer. When we asked why it was fair for him to tell us, two women, to find street parking at night while offering help to a man to park his car, he didn't respond. And when we pressed him to fix the reservation issue, he had the audacity to say, "If I want, I can deny your booking." We called him out on that ridiculous statement. Now, in front of us he started telling other guests that now they would have to park on the street because he wasn't doing them any more "favors." Michael clearly has zero experience, no understanding of guest service, and an awful attitude toward women. He acts like he owns the place, thinking he can deny service to anyone at his whim. His entire behavior changed only when other guests showed up in the lobby. For him, women traveling alone at night shouldn't bother showing up--especially if they're tired and carrying backpacks. He made us feel so uncomfortable that after 3 hours of his nonsense, we decided not to ask him to resolve anything, not that he even tried. We walked back to our car and booked another hotel. To the owner or manager of The Andrew Hotel--take a hard look at what your staff is doing and the kind of "service" they're promoting in your name. read more

While the room was fairly clean, it was not comfortable. There was no refridgerator, no hair dryer, not enough towels. We did get a fridge but we had to ask twice for it. There was only the one desk chair and no other chair for 2 people. We asked for another chair and all we got was a plastic folding chair. Not a comfortable room at all. The window was filthy. The in-room coffee maker made coffee so weak you could see the bottom of the cup. The breakfast room did not have any decaf coffee and the breakfast selections were so sparse we wound up going elsewhere for breakfast. The photos on the website really misrepresented the room. The photos show carpets and small couches with coffee tables & flowers. It looked quite upscale and the price would indicate that. There was no where for 2 people to sit comfortably. The fan in the bathroom didn't work and the toilet was very small. It was the size of the ones they put in schools for the kindergarteners. The carpet in the elevator is extremely worn and absoloutley filthy. We've stayed in many hotels and motels. This was about the worst and cost way more. Very dissappointing. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. I'm going to go through my stay night by night to explain. My travel companion and I arrived 4PM on a Sunday, an hour after check-in. Got up to our room and it hadn't been made: the sheets were stained and there were hairs and other debris in them; there was debris on the nightstand; the carpet was stained. The bathroom only had 1/2 its bathtub curtain set, and there was no face soap. I requested a new room. The front desk clerk agreed, and suggested we stay in the room until we could switch. About 15 minutes later, a housekeeper came into the room, visibly surprised that someone was in it, and explained he needed to clean the room. I explained we were staying until we got a new room and he left. He came back about 15 minutes later, still hoping to clean the room. When he came back a third time, we gave up and went down to the lobby. Turns out we were being reassigned the same room once it was clean. The room was clean when we came back up, I don't even remember how long after we first tried to check in. There was still no face soap and the shower curtain set was still incomplete. In his defense, the housekeeper explained that 2/3 of the housekeeping staff had called out that day. But that also probably means the hotel housekeeping department is critically understaffed. The TV receiver was so high up in a cabinet I had to stand on a chair to reach it, because I wanted to understand what it was blinking - it was blinking "turn on." There were no amenities in the room, for example guide books to the area, pen and paper. I explored the free continental breakfast Monday morning. The usual defrosted mini pastries and bagels, hardboiled eggs, a pot of regular coffee (no decaf), three tea selections, none of them a classic black tea. The only interesting offer was the "touchless pancake maker." The touchless pancake maker was unplugged and none of the tools for using it or fixings were anywhere in sight. The breakfast didn't change for the week I stayed. My travel companion and I were out-and-about Monday day. Got back to the hotel maybe 5PM. Unfortunately, my travel companion was violently ill around 7PM, probably food poisoning (NOT HOTEL FOOD, to be fair), and really really really dirtied the bathroom. There was no mechanical ventilation in the bathroom. I went down to the front desk begging for help to clean the bathroom and was told the housekeeping staff all leave at 5PM. The hotel doesn't keep anyone on call for emergencies. I ended up cleaning the bathroom myself - went to a local pharmacy, bought a couple of rolls of toilet paper and a general cleaner. We were out and about on Tuesday and I will grant that the room and bathroom were both nicely cleaned when we got back (and I'd left a generous tip, that was only fair). We even had a full bathtub shower set and a face soap. I let myself have a shower. The shower was so antiquated there were almost only two settings for the water: cold and blistering hot. And that's when I realized I was going to be playing a game of "guess how the towels are scented: 'musty,' 'clean,' or 'extra-clean/bleached'" for the week. Wednesday was uneventful, except for the really really creepy guy still camped out in the lobby from the Sunday on my arrival and on. He doesn't say anything, and doesn't move. But he does notice if you look his way. Thursday night, around midnight, we had to change rooms when our air conditioner started to leak. The hotel was able to give us something else pretty quickly. The room we switched to hadn't been made. The TV receiver was so high on a shelf I had to reach it by standing on a chair, but it was turned on. A housekeeper knocked on our door around 6PM Friday, hoping to switch out the trash bags in the room. The room hadn't otherwise been made. To be fair, we may have mistakenly left the "do not disturb" sign on our door. The rest of our stay was uneventful. Now for the rest of the hotel. The common hallway carpets are filthy - see photo as only one example. We moved from the 2nd floor to the 4th floor. The AC unit for the common hallway of the 4th floor was broken. A door into the 2nd floor stairway was hung so badly I had to use significant force to open it. Unless I missed them, there are no courtesy soda machines anywhere in the building. There is no closed internet in the building: both my laptop and phone struggled to find the public connection, as did my travel companion's phone. The only reason I'm giving this hotel one star is because I found the staff to be consistently pleasant and obviously trying to do their best under difficult circumstances. read more

As I prepare for a big move to Louisiana (Mmmm jambalaya!), I needed a place to stay on Long Island as I tied up some loose ends. Finding a hotel on Long Island is no easy feat during graduation season, but after some app searching (I found the best deal on Priceline), I was lucky to find the Andrew Hotel. If you're traveling to the city or anywhere else via train, The Andrew otel is centrally located as it is right across from the lIRR. The hotel is in the center of Great Neck Plaza, which I would describe as a quaint little town with lots of little shops to check out and browse. Directly behind the Andrew is a nice park if you feel like having a picnic or reading while catching some sun. Attached to the hotel is a Mediterranean restaurant with a bar, if you're in the mood for a cocktail. The rooms are standard sized, clean, and adequate for my needs. Continental breakfast is served Friday through Sunday, but don't fret, when the hotel breakfast is not served, there are plenty of restaurants to try within walking distance. The hotel offers valet service, as parking can be a bit tight in the area during normal busy hours or events. If you're traveling with your furry friends, the Andrew Hotel is a great place to check out as the are pet friendly. I would describe the staff as very friendly and attentive. Bianca helped me at the front desk on several occasions as I did extend my stay more than once. If you're planning a trip to Great Neck or the surrounding area, I would definitely recommend checking out this boutique hotel that is also budget friendly! read more

Disappointed. Disgusted. Dirty. If you need a bed and nothing else, this is close to the train. Otherwise... The moment you arrive at The Andrew, your heart begins to sink. I arrived on a Sunday with a rented car. There was no valet and the spots were so tight, I needed the help of another guest to park the car. The front lobby and hallways are beat-up. The upstairs carpeting looks like it has not been cleaned in ages. There is no breakfast Mon-Thursday. The housekeepers were on their phones and talking loudly all day long and with other maintenance people. It was impossible to concentrate for work or have a phone call. The room was snug - which was fine - and clean-ish. There was only one roll of toilet paper. My companion and I were on the hunt with no real help from the front desk. Now... let's talk about the front desk. One person was quite nice - she was lovely. One person was just flat-out rude. Another person was useless when there was a significant disturbance in the event hall. And another person was ill-trained and did not know how to do their job when it came to correcting a billing issue. Finally, let's consider the companion restaurant Colbeh and its relationship to The Andrew. The Andrew shares the first floor with the Colbeh. Colbeh hosted an engagement party on a MONDAY NIGHT. Our room was immediately over the event hall. At 10:30, I called downstairs and asked when it would be over. "11:00PM". At 11:27 I called and asked again. "It should be over." At 11:50PM, I went downstairs, ranted at the front desk who declared it was a party controlled by Colbeh, the restaurant. So, I went to into the restaurant and was told it would end at midnight by the event manager. At 12:15 PM I called the police. At 1:00 AM I called the police again. At 1:30 I went back downstairs. It was like a fraternity party gone wild and decided I was safer not to engage. I have no idea when it actually ended. When we checked out, we complained and were treated like idiots for complaining and offered free parking. When the desk clerk realized that our room was directly above the event hall, he offered to comp one night... he comped the one night then CHARGED an ADDITIONAL charge GREATER than the room rate. It took forever to get that resolved, and ultimately it was not resolved. We had to dispute the charge to the credit card company. read more

Raina the front desk receptionist was pleasant and kind BUT this hotel deserves 2 stars. Heard from a staff member that they constantly have fire alarm issues in the middle of the night the alarm went off when we stayed there and there was no instructions or apologies due to false alarm. I really wish I read the other reviews prior to staying here. Check in was awful. Nobody at the desk so I had to holler out for someone. He finally showed up and had no customer service skills whatsoever, might I say, bordering rude. I asked what to do with my car as it was 10:00 PM, and he said if there was nobody out front, I'd have to park on the street. He asked if I wanted a snack and a water and I asked for 2 of each. He replied snarkily that it's ONLY ONE PER PERSON!!!! I explained that we were two so he reluctantly gave me two. Luckily I found parking. When I came back in 3 minutes later lo and behold there was a new clerk who was more pleasant but that didn't take much. He answered my question about parking meter restrictions and gave me information about the complimentary breakfast (shouldn't the first dude have done that?!?) The place is shabby and in DESPERATE NEED OF A FACELIFT. Dirty walls. Stained carpets. Looks worse than a truck stop motel. The room wasn't as hideous but I think housekeeping must have been in a hurry today because they forgot to give attention to the bathroom floor and the last guest was apparently molting. . Upon checking in, our room keys failed 3 times until the front desk manager finally made a 4th set and met us outside the door. We also got stuck in the elevator...it got stuck between floors 3 & 4...the elevator after several minutes finally went to the lower level...we navigated our way out of the building and went back to front desk....they must have reset the elevator after 20 minutes. When we arrived we were told that our room had been given away to a "walk in" and that there were no other rooms available. My husband and I used to stay at this hotel when visiting nearby family. It was barebones but clean and adequate. I stayed there recently and didn't check reviews because of my prior experience. Big mistake. When I checked in, I found someone else's hair on the floor of my room and all over the bathroom. I spoke to the front desk and was told that housekeeping would take care of the problem the next morning. The next day, when I returned from my day's activities, the bed had been made but the hair was still in the bathroom. I gathered up the hair in a tissue and offered to show it to the desk clerk to prove that the room had not been cleaned. She thought it was too disgusting for her to look at, but not disgusting enough for me to have in my room. I requested another room. In the first room I looked at there was a glob of someone else's makeup on the counter. I was then sent to a third room. It looked clean, but when I was putting away my toiletries, there was hair under the washcloths on the bathroom counter. The only other hotel in town was fully booked, or I would have changed hotels. The next morning, I spoke with the general manager. He was apologetic and agreed not to charge me for the room. The first following weekday, the charge showed up on my credit card. I am still working on resolving the erroneous charge. In addition, the hotel is now very run down. The hallway carpets are stained and dirty, the furniture in the rooms is chipped and stained. The internet service was intermittent. I will never stay here again and I would advise you not to stay here either. read more

I would call this a motel versus a hotel. I booked a 4 day night stay, and cancelled the reservation after staying one night, not even 24 hours into the stay. Not only did I end up VERY sick from them blasting the heat to perhaps 105 degrees but the property is extremely dirty. Upon checking into the room, the front desk did not inform me of wifi, or where to find the "complimentary breakfast". I walked into the room which was filthy, with a 1" layer of dust on the night stands, and mini fridge, it looked like greasy hands on the entire bed frame! The toilet overflowed after one use and the plumber had to come upstairs and snake the toilet for approx 30 minutes. The safe in the room didn't work. The bedsheets had long hair in the actual sheets on one side. I woke up at 2am with a stuffy nose, and I couldn't stop coughing, to then learn I lost my voice from the extreme heat! I called downstairs 3x at 3am and NO ONE answered! I opened the window and door to cool the room down, to wake up at 6am literally unable to speak. I noticed on the 2nd floor is where the "complimentary" breakfast was. Maybe 10 bagels in total, where I took one out and it broke in half, 3 Chobani yogurts and hard boiled eggs in an unchilled bowl. The "breakfast" area looked like a room you would find in a prison. The hotel charged me $15+ tax on parking, yet their website says parking is $13. Beware of this hotel, which like I said, I would call a motel. I am now contacting management of this establishment for full refund for the one night stand. I thankfully ended up finding a great hotel right down the block and will continue my stay here until I go home. The manager Brian, is very generous and is refunded me back for the parking and told Expedia (the website I purchased on) they have 24/7 staff. Parking is at a premium. There are spots for approximately 8 vehicles. The entrance is nice, but once you enter the elevator, you see damage and a hint of the poor conditions to come. The desk attendant was nice and very accommodating. I appreciated their service. I stayed on the 2nd floor. The hallway walls and room doors were dirty. The carpeting was stained and coming up at the edges. The ice machine was old. The community room was dirty and had the only microwave available. The framing around the elevator door was damaged. My room had similar issues. The entrance had frayed carpeting. The tv, alarm clock, and carpeting was outdated. The furniture, bathroom door, bathroom walls, ceilings, and adjoining room door had damage. There was rust on the bathroom wall sconce. Cracked and peeling paint in the bathroom. The bathroom door was fraying at the bottom and rusting at the hinges. The marble vanity top was stained. Dirty valves, and toilet plumbing. The bathroom floor tiles were stained and dirty. The shower was powerful and felt good, but the drain didn't evacuate water fast enough. The air conditioner's frame was falling apart and the insulation was exposed along with a dirty appearance. Glass top furniture in the room revealed damaged surfaces underneath. The lounge chair in the room had a stain on the edge that left you imagining how it happened. From the moment Bianca picked up the phone at the front desk, I knew we were going to enjoy our stay! Originally we were only staying for three nights, but ended up staying eight. All of the staff including Brian, Terril, Guericks, Rich and Juan were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and went out of there way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise. The room was the perfect size and very comfortable. The fact that the hotel is pet friendly is a big plus. Not a bad hotel for its age. It's very close to my corp office that why I choose it. The front desk clerk who checked me in did an excellent job and didn't miss a beat. Ask him for place to eat he 1st recommended the hotel restaurant (great job) the he said Bareburger. Well I went with Bareburger and was not disappointed. Got to the room is was nice and quaint. Didn't really see any issues with the room. One thing they need to do is make it easier to turn lights on and off, no switches. One night stand was battered and the tub took its time to drain. Need more update outlet with everyone having computer and phones. The bed was big and comfy, a lot of pillows and the bathroom was nice. I will stay here again. read more

We had to stay out of our home due to some renovations. We stayed Monday-Thursday with my pregnant wife, two small kids, and our two dogs!! The room was very comfortable, but what I really liked was the decor! It had a vintage feel, but not an OLD feeling... I hope that makes sense! Not worth the $340 a night price they charge the wedding crowds. Staying here was not my choice but when I heard it was $340 a night I thought it would be nice. It wasn't. I was the last guest of the night so I was given the crappiest room. The room was dank and poorly outfitted. Walls and furniture were stained and nicked. Folding chair randomly thrown in. Walls stripped of pictures. Just dirty and careless. Busses idling outside at night, sloppily hung curtains, old noises AC unit. No where to park except to pay an additional $15/day on site. Long black hair in my bed and also on the clean face cloths. They offered to clean the room and fix the sink when I was out but the same face cloth with the long black hair was still there. Also the sink was still broken. No apology attempted. They top off the shampoo with water. I could CLEARLY hear other guests through the bathroom vent. Broken bathroom sink so I had to use the wet bar and then hit my head on the counter over it . Strange glow on TV that wouldn't go away. Had to put a towel over the TV. This room had obviously seen better days and was in need of a renovation. I stayed here because my friend , who is a lifelong Great Neck resident, was at capacity but had I been an "important" guest she would have been embarrassed. This hotel got very bad, more like a motel then a hotel!!!Room pretty dark. Toilet seat was wet. Breakfast gross and stale. We ended up walking to the bagel store. read more

Check in was pleasant. Came here to Long Island to do local TV. This hotel was recommended by the TV station so I didn't research, I booked their nicest suite which has an outside balcony @ $320 per nite. I was disappointed to find it's a Jr Suite with couch next to the bed and not a separate room. After traveling all day we ordered room service. Disappointed that 3 things that we ordered were not available. No Chilean Sea Bass, no coconut cake, no banana... not off to a good start. We changed our order and had the Salmon with Orange rice $23, it was so delicious! A Mesclun salad - perfect. Falafel was excellent! chicken wrap with fries - the fries were cold so they sent up Fresh hot fries. Had Tiramisu which was light and yummy. So their Israeli food was excellent! And there was a table for 3 on the balcony - so that was perfect for dinner. As we settled in, we noticed the floor was not vacuumed. On the dark brown carpet, it was easy to see stuff on the floor. We looked in the locked mini bar, it was disheveled and dirty inside - gross. Don't want anything in there. Then later there was a bug in the bathroom. Watched a movie $17 in poor quality, they have LG TV's so wasn't the screen, it's their movie service. Wouldn't stay here again, but I would eat in the restaurant!!! Happy Travels! read more
