They could be so good, but fail spectacularly…read more I recently spent 4 nights at HH. It was not my 1st visit, I've been there off and on over 20+ years. I usually stay at Best Western, but their stay 4 nights but pay for 3 attracted me to try again HH is NOT a B&B. It is a mansion with nice rooms connected to a motel. They have a nice bar, but only open it when large group books motel. They have a commercial kitchen and dining room, but don't use them. I was at an event, and food came from outside caterer (pretty poor buffet, but that wasn't HH's problem). The motel rooms are clean but spartan, no coffee maker, just a small TV and a bed. One light didn't even have a lampshade on it. In the old days the restaurant was one of the best in town, but that was a long time ago. HH's idea of breakfast is a few piles of pre-packaged scones and muffins that were there all day, every day. And a Kuerig to make your own coffee/tea. For service, there is someone at the desk from 9AMish to 4:30PM. Nobody there overnight. If you arrive after 4:30PM (checkin begins at 3PM), your key will be in an envelope taped to the OUTSIDE of the front door. And you're given a 4 digit code to open the front door. If, god forbid, there's a fire at night, firemen would have no clue which rooms are occupied since no employee would be present to tell them. If as a customer you need some help after 4:30PM, you are just f&%ked. This used to be a pretty nice place, but time and decay have not been kind. As it is with the rest of Springfield. I don't consider it a business, its more like a hobby. Even with the reasonable price for extended stays, I won't be back. And that's just sad, it could be so much more.

Yes, it's an inn so small and a bit older, but that just adds to the cozy charm and makes it a perfect northern getaway. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the heated bathroom floor, towel warmer, and shower jets were such a nice touch. We were even welcomed with warm cookies waiting in the room. Breakfast is included and made fresh. You choose your options ahead of time, which was great. The TV in the room is small, but it fits the cozy vibe. There are plenty of books and games in the lobby and extra room for entertainment. One small note, I'd recommend staying in an upstairs room, as some of the floorboards creak and I imagine the sound carries to rooms below. Since we were only there for a short time, we mainly interacted with Peter at the bar and he was fantastic. He even added something to my drink to make it sweeter. I would absolutely stay here again on my next Okemo trip and would love to try dinner next time too.

It was definitely cold, but we caught beautiful sun and good conditions, so the whole trip felt worth it almost immediately. Jackson Gore was the highlight for me. The day we were there, it was pretty empty, and we were able to lap that area over and over again with no real lift line. There is a particular kind of joy in skiing 10 to 20 uninterrupted laps when the sun is out, the snow is holding up, and nobody is making you fight for space. Compared with the massive resorts out west, Okemo is obviously a different kind of mountain. Still, the terrain volume felt excellent for Vermont, especially because the trails were well kept, accessible, and easy to keep moving through. The whole place felt comfortable without being sleepy, polished without being sterile, and family-friendly without losing the actual fun of skiing. Ludlow and the surrounding area also add a lot to the experience. It has enough Vermont charm and alpine presence to make you feel genuinely away from New York, the tri-state area, or any other Northeast city you might be escaping from for the weekend. I only went once, but I left wanting to come back, bring my kids, and use Okemo as a starting point to explore more of the region.

My only complaint was how slow most of the lifts are... but that didn't detract much from my overall experience.

We used the spa and it was okay. The gym is large and well equipped. I had a massage which was okay. The room I was in had a window which faced the road and the traffic noise was louder than the spa music that was playing so didn't lend itself to relaxing. The massage was over $200 so I didn't think it was a great value because I didn't really feel fully relaxed after it. Ask for a treatment room on the pool side of the building if possible. We ate at the restaurant and it was pretty good. Prices were high but seemed to be about on par with another meal we had in the area. Service was nice. Our room was okay...very spacious but the lack of outlets is tough to manage in 2025 with so many devices to charge. I understand the building is very old so I get that there aren't a lot of plugs. My Verizon connectivity was terrible in the whole area and due to a wide-scale outage, Wifi was not working when I was there, which was problematic because I had to take a business call. That and a couple of other issues with our room led to us leaving early to find someplace that had a working Wifi connection but I have to say the staff were helpful and understanding. It was the off season and I think maybe they were a little short staffed but I get that it's tough for businesses these days. Overall, this place was fine and it is very beautiful.

We checked into Room #9 and right away noticed issues. The bathroom door lock was broken, and I ended up getting stuck inside until my husband let me out. There were also many dead bees on the floor when we arrived, and by the next morning we saw live bees in the room. Since the windows didn't open, I had no choice but to kill them. Service was limited -- no housekeeping even when requested, and the hotel felt very understaffed (likely because it was off-season). The spa treatment was okay, but there was only one massage therapist available. The pool area was relaxing, but that was the highlight. The bee problem got so bad that we cut our stay short. Although we had booked for three nights, we left after just a day and a half, checking out at 9 p.m. on the second night because it became unmanageable. Staff sent a technician, but the only solution offered was to spray, and the bees kept coming back. The environment and historic charm are wonderful, but the property isn't being maintained to the level it deserves. Sadly, I don't see myself returning.

The price was incredible and we were only a half hour from Okemo. We highly recommend the American Grill Restaurant and the Red Slate Restaurant. The food was delicious, staff and chefs amazing, and the prices like pre-pandemic. Couldn't believe it.

The motel has a truly hip, retro architectural vibe. The rooms are all updated, always clean, and stocked with goodies. Jen and her husband are very accommodating- the customer service here is like no where else. Very family friendly and they truly care that you're enjoying your stay at the motel and finding great things to do in the area. We've priced other places in the area. But you really get a vastly better experience and value at Snowdon Chalet.
