    Wedding couple and gardens

This is a fantastic venue to get married at! It was an absolutely stunning venue to get married at! The grounds are beautiful, there were so many flowers in the garden we didn't even need to decorate other than centerpieces! The day of my wedding Lisa did a great job of giving us time checks as we got ready and ensured everything started without delay. She met all my vendors and helped direct them so I didn't have to worry about running around for that. I worked extensively with Lisa who was a phenomenal help. She has a lot of experience running weddings and was very helpful during the planning process. I had a lot of family politics (as do most) and she did a great job of making it all run smoothly. Kelly is part of the team and she runs point on the wedding day after the ceremony concludes. They both had great communication skills with us, our parents, and between each other. Everything was perfect on my wedding day, Lisa's team did a fantastic job setting up the place cards, votives and photos around the venue. One of my favorite touches were the photos that they set up around the venue to make it look like our family home. Lisa's suggestions on wedding day specifics like getting in a group photo (highly recommended) and asking if we wanted to not be disturbed when eating - (yes she made a point of keeping both my husband and I fed and hydrated. I've been to plenty of wedding where the couple barely get a bite in. ) She also created a weekend timeline and had a bunch of planning resources that made the whole process easy. The food was divine. We ordered the rib eye and the maple stuffed chicken breast. Her team even made some vegan/vegetarian entrees for our guests. We had a few food allergies for one off guests and had to design a mostly gluten free menu and they did a fantastic job tailoring it to our preferences. The steak was monstrous and absolutely divine, as was the chicken, veggies, salad, and everything else! We got married in July 2021 amidst the uncertainty of COVID and Lisa was very communicative in ensuring we were aware of the changing regulations while keeping our guests safe. We had 80 guests total to stay on the safe side but I believe there capacity is 200+. Albeit our smaller wedding size, the space did not feel cavernous as they spread out the tables to fill the space. Additionally we had several budgetary constraints and Lisa worked with us to give us the wedding of our dreams without blowing our budget. If you are considering Castle Hill, you should get married here. You won't regret it!

This place is a strange mixture of historic (The Castle), Modern and Cozy (Condominum Suites) and Average (The Pointe). I booked this through a deal online as well and enjoyed my stay. We stayed at a Condominum suite and it was great. The place was clean, modern with a country flaire. The water was a bit tricky but soon figured out how to get hot water. For some reason, the hot water was in the cold direction and vice versa. ALso you have to let it run for awhile to warm it up. Soon we had clean warm water for showering. It also has a complete Condo with kitchen, living room, and rooms for a family. I can see how it would be great during skiing season (too bad I dont ski). We enjoyed both the jacuzzi and pools (indoor and outdoor). The outdoor pool was warm and clean. There are lounging chairs, a jacuzzi and a glass room for yoga/pilates. Next to it is the Aveda spa which we did not use so no comment. The indoor pool/jacuzzi was nice but not as impressive as the outdoor one. It was however open later. The castle itself was magnificent and victorian. Very romantic. We missed the dinner- it ends at around 8pm. So we had to drive into town for food. Only thing open was the bar, so we were stuck eating hamburgers. Everything in town closes at 9pm, at least when we went in October. No night life to speak of, so not good for singles. We did have a chance to eat breakfast in the castle the next morning. It was however a continental all you can eat breakfast. It was delicious with homemade granola and yummy pastries. Recommended. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful, beautfiul place to stay at in the scenic green mountains of vermont. Pictures to be posted later.

The Pointe at Castle Hill. Two of the worst beds I've slept on.

My favorite quote while staying at The Pointe: "This hotel is for people with more money than sense." There is really one baseline by which all hotels are judged, and that is the quality of their beds. When I say this was THE WORST night's sleep I've had in years, that is compared to floor-sleeping, car-sleeping, camping, cot and cabin-sleeping. Yes. The Pointe has beds designed to torture you in the farthest reaches of your worst nightmares. One side of the bed may feel like a level plateau, but roll even a hair's breadth towards the center and you will plummet inescapably into the lumpy ravine. You can fight your partner for the plateau-side, but in the end you'll both wind up in an uncomfortable jumble. Think you might try the other queen bed in the room? Surprise! they are equally uncomfortable. If you, like me, wandered into one of their Groupon deals, the BEST thing you can do while staying at The Pointe is: - don't stay long - don't pay $100+ for dinner in their just-okay but overly-fancy restaurant, which they gave you a measly $25 voucher for - DO try a massage at the spa, which is great! (their only saving grace) - drink up the free coffee in the lobby (you'll need it to stay awake after a night of strain) If you had to choose between a La Quinta, Holiday Inn, and The Pointe, err on the side of sense. Oh yes, and they *charge* for wifi. A policy as old as their mattresses.

I came here to celebrate Valentine's Day and booked their anniversary special. We had room #11 and it was a spacious, beautiful and spectacular room. I loved the decor of the very simple, rustic home style to the standing bathtub. Being from New York, our suite seems HUGE. A big room with a couch, and two love seats. The bathroom is attached to a walkin closet. I guess the best way to describe the room would be what Carrie had in Sex and the City. The bathroom in our suite is bigger than my teeny apartment in NYC. Needless to say, I loved how much room my fiancé and I had! Our package came with two massages and a dinner. We were too comfy and ended up being 10 minutes late to our massage. They were booked back to back and couldn't give us our minutes back :( I didn't like how they only had one lock left for the spa though. The lockers were barely enough to fit one persons belongings let alone two peoples !! Please note the spa is NOT in the hotel, it is across in a house beside the heated pool. So we had our coats, hats and layers of clothing on when we showed up. It didn't help that we went during the coldest weekend Vermont ever had this winter... Moving onto the dinner. The restaurant iS in the hotel and it was very romantic. We chose from their regular menu and had the most delicious food! I started off with escargot and it was wonderful. The buttery sauce just melts in my mouth. I would say it's probably the best escargot I ever had. My second course was perhaps my favorite. I had the cold beer salad and it was delightfully refreshing. I loved all of components in the salad. I honestly wanted to order one more and eat it upstairs later! My main course was the lobster with steak. Yum yum yum. It was honestly such a large entree that I could only eat 1/3. Trust me, I never not finish lobster! We shared a dainty little chocolate dessert that was the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. They added two large chocolate covered strawberries too! Well, I will definitely come back and try out their heated pool. I really want to give the hotel 5 stars but unfortunately, we had some issues with the heater ( either too hot or it won't turn on) and the water pressure is not the best. There is no elevator and it did take some time getting to the third floor with a huge suitcase...

Let me start by saying, I stayed here on a Groupon discount, and I only stayed for three day during a period when it was during an off skiing season period. I'm a bit of a history buff so I was excited to hear that The Castle was originally built for Vermont's Governor Alan M. Fletcher who served from 1912-1915(With a plaque at the entrance). The concierge was very helpful & knowledgeable of the estate. The Castle interior is has carved wood paneling, velvet drapes, original furnishings, and a HUGE FOURIER & HUGE Dinning room. The menu was a little to steep for my pockets & wanted to do some sight seeing, so I didn't do the spa either. But even with the Groupon discount, that was expensive in my book, however, was very tempting to do. The bed room was gorgeous! Very clean, maintained very well through out the estate. The bathroom is bigger than my kitchen & has a tub deep enough to fill two people *wink**wink* ;-) I would definitely go back. What saved me for food/dining & tours around the town was the Yelp app on my phone.

The hotel isn't going to make a huge impression, but it's nice enough and comfortable. Our room had double queen beds, air conditioning and a Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom is nothing special, but they stock Aveda shampoo and conditioner. Whatever the hotel is lacking in accommodations it makes up in location, about a 5 minute drive to Ludlow. I went up to the Castle and hung out by the outdoor pool for a few hours, it was empty at first but eventually people trickled in slowly. You have to sign in with the spa to take out towels, which is annoying and unnecessary. We got a deal on Groupon for about $100 a night with a credit for dinner which we didn't wind up using since you were required to order a 3 course meal with a minimum purchase of $100. The best feature of the hotel is that it's pet friendly!

Nice entrance but right off the highway and not much to do

It was a pretty decent spot with a king suite and queen bed but the Pointe didn't have the scenery that I really envisioned staying in VT and driving 4 hours. Definitely do your research! But it was a great last-minute groupon trip with some ladies. The kitchen was a nice touch but I don't think I would spend $150 a night given the location wasn't really ideal. We thought the castle would be closer to The Pointe where we were staying. What really lifted and peaked my interest was the yoga session at the solarium near the gorgeous outdoor pool. Generally, they charged 10 bucks to use the pool only if you're staying at the Pointe, I believe... But we paid for the yoga instead and got a small glimpse of the pool. Great scenery and definitely think that would be great for a family! The hotel was VERY clean though, and the breakfast at the castle was not as bad as people said... But, I would see why people would rather go into town and have a VT experience. I can't really say I would recommend it based on the location, since Woodstock or some other towns would have been fine as well, and lots more to do. But, if you're visiting the nearby ski mountain, definitely think about it if there is a good deal.

We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! Bathroom has ample space, but not enough supplies were left (soap, shampoo, etc), but there were ample amounts of towels. Ski racks were installed near the door, which were very handy to hang up all our equipment and outerwear to dry. The beds, however, were ROCK HARD, and there was no fitted sheet on the mattress, only a tucked-in flat sheet (which came off halfway through the night). We barely got any sleep, if any. We had a corner room, upstairs, next to the access stairs. We could hear every footstep within 50 feet. Not so bad, because skiiers in this ski-town want to sleep to have energy for the slopes, so we only heard footsteps before 10pm and after 7pm. Continental breakfast offerings were mediocre. Pastries were still-frozen, fruit was not ripe (totally-green bananas), and their waffle-maker tripped the circuit every couple of minutes or so (obviously overloaded). I voiced my concerns about the beds and the waffle-maker circuit (fire hazard!) to the hotel website, and was promptly replied to by the hotel owner (locally owned). He said they planned on replacing the bedding and mattresses after ski season. and were going to address the circuit issue. i'll leave that to future reviewers to confirm if this was done or not. If they fixed those issues, i'd stay there again. The rooms were pleasant (except for the mattresses and sheets), and the location was great. Throw in a good night's sleep, and it would be ideal. But until they do address these issues, i'd stay somewhere else.

The day we were there, it was pretty empty, and we were able to lap that area over and over again with no real lift line. There is a particular kind of joy in skiing 10 to 20 uninterrupted laps when the sun is out, the snow is holding up, and nobody is making you fight for space. Compared with the massive resorts out west, Okemo is obviously a different kind of mountain. Still, the terrain volume felt excellent for Vermont, especially because the trails were well kept, accessible, and easy to keep moving through. The whole place felt comfortable without being sleepy, polished without being sterile, and family-friendly without losing the actual fun of skiing. Ludlow and the surrounding area also add a lot to the experience.
