Stayed here many times before, some rooms and have been better than others, as we have something to compare staying multiple times over many, many years. We love this location (5-stars!) and parking (5-stars!), and I remember their sheets from Costco (5-stars!) and a/c that works (5-stars!)! I only make multiple reservations on places we like. There's also areas here that need improvement, such as the late-check-in process (1-star) on one visit the front desk messaged us about their front closes after 9pm and this motel would not allow check-in and one trip we were in traffic on 5+ hour drive to Pullman and I had a panic attack on the phone with them, as I was told we could not check-in if we arrived late, which made us panic the entire drive (1-star experience!) but they were lovely and allowed us to check-in upon our later arrival (yeah!), but the experience was really terrible as we were super stressed! Or how the room on the 2nd level behind the office the arrangement of the single queen bed and TV was a bit funky (3-star for decor/vibe), but not a big deal as we don't stay in our rooms in Pullman except to sleep & shower. Some rooms appear fresh and clean (5-star) while others could use a refresher of paint or care (wobbly door handles or bathroom doors that don't close properly, as an example, 2-3 stars), but I try to update my newer experiences upon frequent visits and I always notice and write about those improvements and reflect on the experiences. This time my experience was a 1-star all around, sadly. It was New-Coug Move-In Weekend and we'd stayed Friday to Saturday at another motel and moved our youngest Coug into his dorm at 9am, but the overall time took longer than our prior move-ins we've experienced with our other Cougs. By 6pm we were overwhelmingly exhausted! We were ready to relax rather than make the 5-hour journey back home in the dark. My friend had canceled her reservation for Saturday to Sunday, and suggested I call directly to the motel, as every hotel and motel in a 20-mile radius was booked!No availability was showing online, and in order to get her spot she'd suggested I call Cougar Land Motel directly. Called Cougar Land and explained about her cancellation and could we take it? Yes it's available, cost is $350, yes, we will take it! Expensive? Yes, but worth the convenience of being able to walk to campus (5-stars!) to spend time with our eldest Coug and relax vs driving home in the dark is worth the $350! The woman answering the phone asked if I'd stayed there before? Yes, many times! She then tells me I left a horrible review (!) and why would I want to stay again? I was baffled. My husband and I looked at each other, as the call was on speaker. Did I leave a bad review? I was too exhausted to think/respond, and she was adamant I wouldn't be welcome again! As soon as she hung up on me, I quickly went through Yelp. What did I write that was so offensive I was denied a return visit? I noticed zero reviews from me for Cougar Land Motel! I did not delete any and I was curious what I'd written to cause her to deny us! As a Yelp Elite member I follow rules and community standards. My husband wondered why she didn't say, "Hey I noticed you gave a poor review, here's the changes we've made and we are thrilled you're coming back to experience a better outcome!" We discussed this on our 5-hour drive home in the dark, as mentioned, we were really looking forward to staying at a local hotel we'd stayed at for years! Pullman is a lovely small-town with a tight community. My family of Coug alumni frequently travels back to Pullman (aka. Returns "home") and this experience reminded us about how wonderful the Coug Community is, but to be super careful about offering feedback/reviews as you might not have a place to stay when you visit.

All rooms are accessed inside through the lobby. The lobby opens into a seating area and everything appears clean and well managed. Just beyond the lobby is an enclosed indoor pool. We could smell the chlorine as we walked in the front doors. Check in was very easy and the employees were all very friendly. Our room was on the second floor, and it was easy to access via the staircase or the elevators. We booked a king room. The room had a lot of floor space next to the bed near the window. The room came with a coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge. Everything appeared to be surface clean. The bed was very comfortable and also was visibly clean. They provided five very nice pillows on the king bed. The temperature in the room was perfect for a comfortable night sleep. The bathroom was sufficient. I like that they provided Dove toiletries. I would say that the rooms are pretty quiet as the hotel is set pretty far back from the street and there is a hill behind the property so you really won't hear any outside noise. Our room had a locked adjoining door to our neighbors and we could loudly hear their TV and their voices a bit later into the evening than we would've liked. Once they went to bed we had a very quiet night sleep. I found this super annoying but normal for hotels. Breakfast in the morning was a very simple spread. Fortunately, they provided hot options like eggs and sausage and they had a single waffle maker, which was very very popular. There were plenty of delicious choices, including scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, English muffins, cereal, bacon, hash brown bites, apples, and more. They also provide coffee, tea, and hot water. It was a great way to start the day! The hotel also has a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, and free parking, which made our stay even more convenient and enjoyable. Mike and Monica Olmstead who are the owners of this place are bullies and micromanage everything. We came out here to do the pikeminnow program as well as work nearby so we are long term campers. We had planned to stay for approximately 6 months but will be leaving after only 2 months of putting up with absolute bullshit. First off, they give fishermen who are here for the pikeminnow program a monthly rate of $500. They knew we are here for the pikeminnow program but still charges us $600 per month. Mike loves to get up in your face without a regard for personal space/bubble and list off all the issues that he has with how you are camping/living. The first 2 weeks we were here, he was at our campsite daily bitching about everything under the sun. They finally gave us the list of campground rules a week after we moved there. After getting that packet of rules, we complied with making sure our campsite was abiding by the rules. Mike will still patrol the park every night and cruise around once or so during the day because he thinks he is a police officer. I'm sorry but when I camp I do it to get away from the city, to have some peace and to relax. Here we cannot, we are constantly watched. They watch every move you make and judge and will complain to you about it. Now, we have a 9 year old son with us and he enjoys riding his bike all over. At every other campground/rv park we have been to, we never had an issue with our son riding his bike by himself or with other kids. One of their campground rules are targeted towards children always must be supervised. We did not know about this rule until 1 week later and they were throwing a hissy fit about it. Every weekend when the campground fills up, there are kids all over the place being unsupervised at the docks/marina, riding their bikes to the dam and back, hanging out at the beach, and so on. We have to keep telling our son, sorry those kids are not following the rules, you have to stay with us. Also they enforce the parking rule but not with the overnighters. Only to the long term people. We can't even park our truck in front of our 5th wheel. It is still on our pad sticking out a little bit. But we make sure to not drive it on the grass. We see our neighbor who are workampers for the park drive the back tire of his truck on the grass every single time he moves it. They don't complain about that. What the heck. They don't have an issue with all the rigs parked on the road next to their camper pad during the weekend. Also they say outdoor plants are not allowed but their two parties of workampers have plants and are allowed to have it outside but we aren't. Also we understand and practice the rule of no dogs off leash, yet their workkamper has their dog off leash all the time. We are sick and tired of the owners looking the other way whenever they want but harass the hell out of us. Mike pick and chooses when he wants to enforce the rules. It is tiresome having to be on the constant lookout for Mike to come ans harass us some more. And if you call him out on his bullshit, he threatens to evict you and say that we can do it the easy way or the hard way. Monica isn't too bad but she is still a stickler for rules. We get the rules but they go excessively and do not even enforce the rules with everyone. They only choose who they want to pick on. Now for those who want to come here, just come on the weekends, they won't harass you.

Wifi wasn't great, but you can check weather/email/basics, and I always appreciate that. We'd have no problem staying here, again...
