I just stayed here for three nights while attending a family reunion. Admittedly the competition is thin, just a second motel which was old and tired 65 years ago when I lived here...however this place has alot to recommend it independent of that. It is clean, well-maintained, well-furnished and overall a nice ambience. Where it really shines though is in the breakfast department: in addition to the usual fare (waffles) it has an omelette station, as well as scrambled eggs, link sausage, potatoes and biscuits and gravy. The only thing I would ding them on is the seemingly new bed pillows. They are overstuffed and several of us found them uncomfortable. Prices can get a little high if the nearby university has an activity, but when faced with that, I am willing to pay. read more

I always stay here while visiting relatives in Colfax, and this just absolutely one of the best hotels in the Best Western group. The folks at the front desk are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and super clean, the country view outside is relaxing, and the breakfasts are excellent. There's a computer room, fitness room, pool & hot tub, and parking right outside. Colfax is so small that you are just two blocks from the 'main drag'...! I always really look forward to my stays at the Wheatland Inn! Oh, and the front desk person gave me a small map and I was able to do a short road trip of small towns in the area. The weather was beautiful while I was there, so plenty of time for outside activities. read more

I was quoted a discounted price to stay for almost 2 weeks at this hotel in November, 2021. When I checked out the "manager" would not honor the quoted price. I was charged $200 more than I was quoted. I would not have stayed here if I had been told the real cost. I will Never Stay here again. This hotel gives the Best Western name a black mark. They need to hire a manager that does the right thing rather than take advantage of customers after their stay is over. In addition, there was a barking dog across the hall and a noisy person in the room next to us two of the nights. read more

Without a reservation, we arrived in Colfax, WA, just after dark on Dec. 23, 2023. The automatic lighting on the Wheatland Inn hadn't even turned on yet. Finding nothing driving south, we turned around and drove north on the main downtown street. There was BW Wheatland Inn. We registered and a very efficient desk clerk gave us a recommendation for dinner. "If you would like to stop back about 6pm, I'll serve warm cookies in the lobby." Wow. Our room couldn't have been nicer. What a find. We had breakfast in their special room the next morning. Two friendly attendant ladies made us welcome and checked to see that everything was ok. They served a real breakfast! Ham, potatoes, gravy, milk, fruit, coffee, tea...plus choices we didn't try. I'd recommended this motel without hesitation. We have stayed here since it was opened. Always a delight to come to Colfax and have such a splendid hotel with great rooms to stay in. Wouldn't expect it in such a small town. Had a great experience here. I made a last minute reservation online which somehow got mixed up. Rita, at the front desk, made some calls and got me and my family squared away with a room at the already full hotel. She did a great job. The room was clean and decent sized. Friendly guest services! There's a grocery store and a taco time across the street. The bed sheets were rough and need to be replaced. Probably the worst sleepless night I've ever had at a hotel. The lights from the sores on Main Street shine through the curtains so if you're like me and like it dark, bring eye covers and your own bedding. read more

Fraudulent charges, beware. We have stayed at this hotel a few times now. A few things to note about the accommodations: The hallways have a stale, smoke scent in some areas, specifically toward the back hall near the canal. The walls are very, very thin, so if you are a light sleeper and have neighbors who are of average noise level, you will hear them far too well. It's also expensive for the condition and location of the hotel. A note to the wise, however: be very careful about making reservations with them, even if you use their specific website. We attempted to make reservations for 1 room for 2 nights and the site froze both times, stating there was an error. I finally gave up and hoped they would have a room when we arrived. When we did arrive a few hours later, we told the staff at the check in desk that we had attempted to make reservations, but the system had failed twice. No problem, they assured us, they didn't have any King Bed rooms available, but they could get us a double queen. Good enough for us, we were just looking for a place to sleep. The next day, to my surprise, they called and informed us that they were charging us for 3 rooms for 2 nights... What?! Apparently, their reservations site had some sort of glitch and the reservations had gone through, even though it had timed out and said it had not. I explained that this was not my error, that their reservation system (I always go through the hotel site and not a 3rd party to avoid this kind of problem) was at fault. Their response? It didn't matter, they were still going to charge me even though I was not at fault and even made the effort to inform their staff when arriving that there had been a glitch. "We didn't catch it" were their exact words, yet I was still charged. Needless to say we are fighting the fraudulent charges and will be staying elsewhere in the future. In fact, Pullman is only 15 mins or so away and has far more amenities. I even hear they have hotels with clean hallways and walls that are not made out of paper. Extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism and greed of this business. If you, or your technology, make a mistake, do not try to make up the money from an innocent customer. (You may note that I never post bad reviews, this was a stand out experience to say the least.) read more

My husband and I stayed here for Mom's weekend at the school. It is about a twenty minute drive. The room was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The housekeeping, front desk personnel, reservationists and breakfast wait staff were ALL AWESOME! They all made our stay pleasant. The pool and hot tub are nice, the area is clean and comfortable for relaxing and swimming. There is a fireplace and comfortable couches and chairs to relax and read if you so desire. Newspaper at the front desk is available for free. Free WIFI, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all hours with hot cookies served at six pm. read more

If I could rate zero stars I would. We live in Colfax and we're recently snowed in as well as lost water for 5 days. Scheduled to get a room being that we have three small children but couldn't get out during the most recent snow/wind storm. Was in contact with the hotel multiple times letting them know our situation and we were told by the guy that they weren't busy at all and it wasn't a big deal so we moved our reservations to the following night. After 8 hours of a bulldozer clearing our lane we were still stuck. So instead of having some compassion being that friends and family of ours stay here regularly, we live local and we had a dire emergency on our hands. We get charged for not showing up. Regardless of what we were told, find it upon yourselves to share some concern for a local family that has literally spent thousands of dollars over the last few years at your business and was experiencing a true emergency for God sake ! Our family and friends will now be staying in Pullman at an actual professionally operated local business where our money will be. Screw your corporate tactics and lack of compassion for a local that helps pay your paycheck. read more

This isn't actually a Best Western anymore. It's independently owned. The hotel is unremarkable. It's the best place in town to stay, and rooms are clean, mattresses average. There's a free breakfast, nothing special. The big downside to this place is no internet. When you're there over a weekend, and it turns out that you didn't have to work all day Sunday as expected...well, there's only so much TV to watch, right? Believe it or not, it was "full" or close to it when we showed up. But...parking lot nearly empty. Maybe not all the rooms are in use? While I can't say it was great...I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Colfax. read more

This motel is great! The rooms are clean and they have everything you need in the room including free WiFi that actually works. It was recently remodeled so the carpets are new and everything is fresh and clean. The lobby is very nice and the free breakfast has a great selection of both hot and cold foods. The only small complaint is that the coffee maker in the room has pods that make very weak coffee. But they have good coffee in the lobby that makes up for the in room coffee. The hotel is nice -- the swimming pool is big and clean, the breakfast room well-stocked. But nothing really matters if after a whole day of driving, the hotel front-desk attendant (Rita) greets you with "what do you want" and is rude and discourteous. She was so bad I actually memorized her name. Rita, learn to be more hospitable and try to at least look like you care about your job. read more

A nice quiet and clean hotel in a small town. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast had a good variety of foods. The rates were very reasonable for this quality compared to other hotels in Washington. There is a gas station and 24 hr convenience store within walking distance. Also a small restaurant and a grocery store across the road. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area and recommend it for anyone looking for a nice quiet place to stay for a night or three. read more

I like this place. Have stayed there now several times over the years and it's quite nice...especially for a small town. The staff is friendly and the rooms clean/comfortable. The free breakfast they offer is the real deal. There's a substantial grocery store right across the street and plenty of nearby restaurants. One thing when considering a trip is that with Colfax being only about 20 miles from Pullman they do fill up around big WSU events...so plan ahead. read more

Stayed for eight weeks on a business trip the staff was fabulous, very kind and helpful. Every person behind the counter took time to visit with me, I appreciated that. Thank goodness for this motel. We were pretty well stuck in Colfax for two nights waiting out a rainstorm for some Palouse photo ops, and this place was a tripsaver. It was spotlessly clean, and has wi-fi (new since the last review). A word to the wicked: Colfax, as with many of the surrounding small towns, has a noticeable religious presence. There are Bible verses framed around the motel, and a little religious reminder on the bedside table. If you are offended by religion, this may not be the place for you. read more

Pleasant, clean, nice accessible room available for wheelchair-bound folks. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast included with stay. For more breakfast selection, go to Top Notch Cafe, on opposite side of Main St., about 5 blocks south of the hotel. Top Notch is also open for lunch. For dinner, go to Hyde-Out, a tavern across the street from Top Notch, for great burgers, steaks and chicken wings. The hotel is only about 12 miles south of Steptoe Butte, a great view point to see the vast vista of the Palouse wheat fields. The road up the butte is pretty bad, with no guard rails, but slow-going up and down will have rewards for you. Last week, the colors of the fields were gold, beige and dark gray (the burned fields). We've also seen the fields in June, with various shades of green, gold, even purple. Apparently, photographers' favorite time to go there is late July/early August. read more
