In town overnight and so glad we chose Hotel McCoy. Here are the highlights. Clean, convenient location, Free beverage upon checkin, big screen tv, comfortable bed. This is not a fancy place but so comfortable. And the world's longest oatmeal breakfast bar was so delicious. Not impressed, to say the least. We arrived around 4:00 pm and checked in. We were told where our room was and told we could park in any spot, but not the EV spots. We realized we were on the second floor and there was NO elevator. It was quite a struggle to get our luggage up the stairs. When we arrived at our room, we were very underwhelmed. The wall AC unit was crazy loud and ran pretty much ALL the time. We couldn't figure out how to turn it off, but it was too hot to turn off anyways (100 degrees on our last day). The attention to detail in the room was low. There were wires hanging down behind the TV, the doors were removed from the closet (not sure why) and only one drawer had a handle/pull. The other drawers just had holes. The bathroom vanity was touch up painted in a different color. There's a table with four chairs with room for two people (the microwave is sitting on the table). These things just made the room feel kind of low quality - like it was a rush job renovation. The bathroom backs to an alley and has a floodlight shining in the window all night - with no window cover, so you have to keep the door closed all night if you don't want the bright light shining in. The bathroom door is super noisy, so it woke everyone up if one person would get up to use the bathroom at night. The shower drain was not draining well and we stood in a bit of standing water with each shower. To e bathroom is smaller than a cruise ship. Super tight! There was a lot of dust in the bathroom and the shower cleanliness was questionable. There were no towels or paper towels in the kitchen, which I thought was weird. There is no housekeeping and they don't even give you fresh towels each day. We had to go down to the office twice to ask and there was no one at the desk. We waited around for quite awhile and ended up having to knock on the staff door next door to request towels. Same thing another day. The breakfast is nothing but dry crockpot oatmeal with toppings and pop tarts. The oatmeal was ok for a day or two, but we got really sick of it by the third day. As far as sleep, I had a hard time because the windows only had pull down shades which didn't fit well and the sun started streaming in the back window early. The bed was comfortable but the pull out sofa bed was miserable. I felt bad that my daughter had to sleep on it. We were in Pullman to help my daughter move into her new apartment, so the uncomfortable bed pushed her to start sleeping in her apartment before it was even fully ready. The parking was a nightmare. The second night we returned late and couldn't find a spot. We tried to go to the office to ask where to park, but the office was closed. We drove around back and parked. We didn't notice any no parking signs. The next morning we had a tow warning notice on our car. We were never told where the overflow parking was - just not to park in the EV spots. Apparently you can park on the side of the hotel, but not the back. Thank goodness we didn't have our car towed! The three positives: The free drink on the first night was a nice perk. The people in the office were pretty friendly. The main bed was comfortable. The negatives: - No elevator - Loud, subpar AC - Floodlight in bathroom window - Rickety bathroom door - Poor drainage in shower - Tiny, dirty bathroom - No housekeeping or fresh towels - Very little parking - Limited breakfast (oatmeal and pop tarts only) - Uncomfortable pull out bed - No way to contact front desk, except calling main reservation line and getting an AI assistant or going down to office and speaking to someone (if they're there). - Dilapidated and dirty rooms We have stayed in Pullman before and while we understand that accommodation options are limited, we were shocked that this hotel had such raving reviews. I lived in Pullman for eight years and came back to visit with my husband, three dogs, & four coworkers on a work/personal trip! It's not as fancy as a Marriott or Hilton, but you don't need that if you are just looking for a safe, convenient, and interesting place to stay! Nothing boring about Nintendos and a chalkboard to draw on in each room, a cozy fire pit, & the World's longest oatmeal bar (vegan-friendly, and you can ask for gluten-free oats, too)! The staff are all friendly and communicative via text, email, or phone! They will text you a door code if you arrive too late to check-in in person. Definitely stay here if you have dogs because this is one of the rare hotels that do not charge extra for dogs unless damage occurs! And while most hotels limit you to two dogs, we were okay with three (and we told them ahead of time)! The fire pit was a nice place to hang out with our group and doggos, and we met some nice people who were visiting with their dogs as well. You also get a free drink token upon arrival, and there are events on select nights. If you don't want to hang out at the hotel, downtown Pullman is just across the street! The hotel is on a main road, so you can hear the street starting around 6:30am, but the nights were very quiet. Because this is more of motel, there isn't daily cleaning by default and no iron or coffee amenities in each room, so just be mindful of that when planning. Parking in the main area can be a bit tight in the evenings but there is a another lot on the other side that remained mostly empty. We were even able to slow charge our EV in one of the spots. Very eclectic little motel. Easy to check-in and out. Several nice outdoor gathering spots. Rooms are furnished with random items but there is a nice mural on the wall with the bed. My biggest complaint is the mattress which had a huge dip on the right side so no one could sleep there. Because of this, I probably wouldn't stay there again. read more

We loved the relaxed vibe of our 2-night stay at Hotel McCoy and all the art and cool murals. Checking in and out was a breeze. I felt they had ample parking. Our room was clean and didn't have any funky smells. The oatmeal breakfast bar and coffee was a fun idea and tasted delicious. I discovered a new shampoo and conditioner brand that made my hair feel silky called Paya that was in our shower. I ordered it right away for home. I appreciate that hospitality doesn't come in everyday and is by request, which made us feel more relaxed and that we had more privacy. This was an amazing little spot!! We arrived a little after midnight and while the lobby was closed the staff kept us updated during the day via text. We received welcome, an offer of free drinks, and our room number and door code all before getting there. The room was great, king bed w/sofa pull out, cute little kitchen which we did not use and the bathroom was nice. Overall we had a great stay. We did stop in the lobby Friday night and the person working was SUPER friendly!! I wish we had more time to stay. read more

It's move in week for my kiddo and I needed a place to stay close to campus. Hotel McCoy is conveniently located close to the WSU campus and walking distance to Main Street. I really love how modern the hotel is and the rooms have everything you'd need! It reminded me as if I was visiting a friends home, very cozy and comfy. I haven't even checked out of the hotel yet from our first stay here and just had to take a moment to write a review. Yes, the hotel is fun and quirky and cool and all of that. But that's not what gives this place five stars: it's the people. I'd give ten stars if I could to truly convey JUST how exceptional the customer service here has been. I won't go into all the details of how they made our stay sensational, because I just don't have enough space on this page to do it. Here's one small example, though: as we were driving into Pullman from Colfax, our EV car was very low on battery. I was, of course, pretty nervous, so I began texting with the employee in the lobby who kept me posted on their EV stalls and ensured I would be able to roll right in and start charging. lt may sound small, but for us - it wasn't. It was peace of mind and comfort and that was our introduction to this phenomenal staff!! Again, there were miles of other examples in a really short stay - and it wasn't isolated to just one person. Every single staff member had a moment where they went above and beyond, did a little something or other that they didn't need to, and made our stay one for the books. Not only will I DEFINITELY come back to this hotel, but it's the only place I'll tell friends, family, colleagues, and strangers on Yelp to go, too. I had misgivings when I drove to this site and it looked very much like an old fashioned motel. However I was very glad to see there was more to this place than it appeared. Inside the lobby is a very friendly attendant who offered us a chip to get a free ale or beer. Lobby had some unique touches like an old fashioned typewriter and lots of artwork. We came to our room and were pleasantly surprised. It was like a small adorable studio. Large bed and leather pull out sofa. A huge TV was in front of the bed and with the Roku they had, there was SO many options to watch- it was amazing! There were also vintage kitchen appliances. How adorable is that. I didn't realize there would be a stove and toaster here. Floor was a nice plank (hate hotel carpet) and everything was clean and new looking. There was a fun chalkboard on the wall where I played tic tac toe and hangman with my son. Tv had every channel you could want. What a wonderful stay/experience! It is truly a hidden gem in the Palouse! I went to school at WSU many years ago when this hotel was a 'mom & pop' motel. The remodel and delightful touches make this hotel a top notch night of great sleep. The rooms have been updated with very comfortable beds, retro fridge, microwave and a token for a free glass of wine or beer to be enjoyed on their two decks with games and fire pits. Complimentary oatmeal bar in the morning. The hotel features works by local artist which you can purchase if you desire. So looking forward to my next visit.
