This is my first experience with a large birdhouse, it has been a learning process. I chose BestNest after doing some searching. My first purchase was a 16 room purple martin house https://www.bestnest.com/ver2024/RTProduct.asp?SKU=BN-BN-16-KIT . Upon opening the box, I was a bit taken back by the flimsy nature of the materials. As the instructions state, the house will become solid once it is completetly constructed, and they were absolutely correct and the house was very sturdy. When the house came, I noticed it had a triangular mounting hole. My inspiration for this project was finding a round groundsleeve in the front yard from the previous owner. So I then purchased an S&K triangular adapter for round poles. https://www.bestnest.com/ver2024/RTProduct.asp?SKU=SK-RPA The next item I ordered was the Nature House DuraCraft Purple Martin House Pole (round pole). https://www.bestnest.com/ver2024/RTProduct.asp?SKU=NH-DP-16 It took 3 deliveries to get me a complete kit, as their packaging was allowing the metal pole to create a hole where the hardware kept falling out. Now it was time to finally put the house up! I was surpised how high the house was after being installed, it looked amazing! However the fitment between the round pole and triangular adapter was less than tight. I had to drill a pilot hole into the metal pole and use a stainless screw and washer to attach the plastic adapter to the metal pole. I then noticed there was a bunch of wiggle room between the adapter and the house and between the adapter and the round pole, causing the house to wobble more than I'd like. I drilled 2 holes in the plastic adapter and placed stainless screws to keep the house from wobbling on the adapter. On the round pole side of the adapter, I had to place 3 different sized dowels into the negative spaces in the triagular adapter to prevent that side of the connection from wobbling. The house is now up, looks great, and is not wobbling! I installed it yesterday and birds are already building nests in it :) While the fitment of their products could use some refining, overall the quality is high and I am happy with my purchase. read more

I ordered my mailbox before I read some of the reviews so I was actually a little nervous. I contacted BestNest and they got back to me, assuring they would fulfill the order. The mailbox came in a timely manner and is just as described. The manufacturer of the mailbox supplies an insert explaining how to care for it because I can tell from looking at my neighbors mailboxes, it needs maintenance to avoid being beaten up by the elements. DO NOT BUY FROM Bestnest.com On Oct 1st we ordered three Squirrel Buster bird feeders and a Squirrel Buster PLUS weather guard at a cost of $266.35. About a month or so later (late Nov/early Dec.?) when we got around to putting up the feeders we realized that the weather guard did not fit any of the feeders we bought. The unopened weather guard sat on a table through the holidays, you know how that goes. When we called today (Jan 6th) the nice woman informed us that we would have to pay return shipping which was fine, that was not a surprise AND..... "the cost of the original shipping to us" which she said would have been $16. Since this weather guard was only $24.95 I said I needed to know what part of the original $16 shipping they would charge us so I could calculate whether it was worth returning the item. (We actually realized after we hung up that we probably paid nothing for the shipping originally since it was over $75) The nice woman said she would have to ask "Him". When she came back from speaking with "Him", "Him" must have told her we would get nothing because it was over 30 days. So this item, which was unopened, which they would have no problem reselling, which we would have paid to return, is now a problem. So now I'm writing this bad review. Ordered the BestNest API 650 Deck Mounted Heated Bird Bath with Outdoor Cord Connector but not from Amazon, my first mistake. The second mistake, I did not read the reviews on Amazon, the one-star ratings clearly pointed out the identical issues I had with the product. Ended up returning the product via UPS at a cost to me of, $25.36. BestNest then only credited my account for the items purchased minus their original shipping costs. On 6/16/22, I ordered the Panacea Modern Farmhouse fencing for $469.13 from BestNest.com. It turned out the fence was not as tall as I thought, so I arranged through customer service to return the items for a refund. I received a return authorization number from BestNest customer service and paid for return shipping through UPS Ground. I used the same packaging the items arrived in and sent them back in the same condition on 6/23/22. The were delivered on 6/28/2022. It cost $80 to return these 2 boxes. While the return was in progress, on 6/21/22, I ordered the Panacea Triple Arch Border for $469.13 and that was received and is exactly what I needed. Over a week after the items arrived at the BestNest warehouse, on 7/7/22, BestNest informed me that I was not entitled to my refund, as the items were received "damaged" in the shipping "container". I had returned the items in the exact same two cardboard boxes they were received in and in the same condition (needing assembly). The boxes shipped to me, were flimsy cardboard, held together by tape and contained zero packing materials for safe shipping. That was exactly how I returned them to BestNest. In fact one of the two boxes was never even opened by me. On 7/28/22 after I reached out to BestNest Customer Service, BestNest sent me photos of the "damage" and the "containers", both which proved nothing to me. We tried our best to reason with them, but BestNest insisted that I damaged the product and was not entitled a refund. Even though I clearly showed good faith by placing and paying for my 2nd order prior to receiving my refund, BestNest stands by their decision. Thankfully, companies like AMEX protect the consumer from companies like BestNest and we resorted to disputing the $469.13 charge. I very rarely write reviews like this, as it is hard enough these days for businesses to succeed, however in this case, the consumer (their customer), has not been treated fairly. Anyway, I was out of town when the package arrived and, as a result, was unable to return the product within 30 days...I was 7 days outside of the return window. I was willing to pay the shipping cost and restocking fee but they won't take the product back. The fact that I was out-if-town was irrelevant. Not a good way to run a business especially during a Pandemic when people are stressed enough! We ordered "tree guards". Put one on a tree and it promptly fell apart. Best Nest wouldn't take it back because we used one, but offered to replace the box. I explained I didn't want MORE of a product that didn't work. They kept calling me, asking how they could resolve the situation. I explained that a refund for a product that didn't do the only job for what is was intended was the only acceptable resolution. They kept offering to replace the box (after I'd pay for return shipping, of course). After 3 messages from them asking again how could they resolve it, I tersely replied, "either refund me or stop calling", to which they repeated, we can't refund you because you used the product. While searching for a good price for the "Allied Precision Heated Bird Bath with Metal Stand" I came across this site, which was currently having a sale, and promptly ordered my product. Upon arrival, the hardware included was incorrect, so I reached out and was given a very timely response. They kept me up to date on the when manufacturer send me the parts directly and were very helpful throughout the process. The correct parts arrived yesterday so although delayed I still got my product at a good price from this company with helpful customer service. I was VERY surprised when I logged in and saw so many 1 star reviews. I don't know if I had such a positive experience because I was so prompt in contacting them about my order, or if new management has come in or what. However, as far as my experience with the company I had no complaints. Buyers beware of BestNest.com !! On April 23, 2022, I purchased a Dura-Trel Picnic Table with Unattached benches from BestNest online paid $496.86. On May 15, 2022, I assembled the picnic table, not the benches. Very poor quality and defective. Directions to "glue on" end caps which did not fit. Kept popping off. Overall the table is plastic crap. I contacted customer service that same day advising that "we built the table" and that it was awful, and that we wanted a refund, to which we received the following email response, which we followed. "Hi Glenn, We are sorry to hear that you no longer wish to keep your item. If you have received an item that is damaged or missing pieces, please contact us at 1-XXX-562-1818 prior to shipping your item. We may be able to resolve your issue in a much quicker fashion and without the hassle of return shipping. Replacement pieces or items may be available for shipment without the need for return. If you wish to make a discretionary return, we do accept returns on new, unused items within 30 days. Please send your item back to us at the address information below. While we do not have a restocking fee, we do not include our shipping and handling costs in return credits. Once we receive an authorized return, we will typically process it within 7 business days. After inspection, a credit for the returned item minus the waived shipping for that item will be applied to the original payment method." I paid $158 in shipping to return the product in the original boxes. On May 25, 2022, BestNest's customer service supervisor "Zack" insisted BestNest would issue no refund since I assembled the table, which I advised BestNest I did before incurring the cost to return it for a refund. I ordered a Woodlink triple tube bird feeder online, and paid about $65 with shipping, which would buy me a high-quality bird feeder from any retail store. Two days after setting it out, squirrels discovered the extremely flimsy design, chewed off the perches, and made the feeder incapable of holding seed, or, for that matter, birds. I've had lots of bird feeders, some costing more, some less, but I've never had such poor quality. What makes it worse is that Bestnest would take absolutely no responsibility for the quality of the product they sell, and only offered to give me the manufacturer's phone number. I ordered a bird house from them with the post so I could have all the pieces to install the bird house easily for my husband as a surprise birthday present for his 60th. When I had a builder come to my home to install it he said that he needed a bracket to connect the house to the pole and the pole that was sent was way too big for the house, that it would not look right. So they did not tell me about the bracket when I placed my order and they sold me a $50 post that was incorrect for the size of the birdhouse. I called to asked if I could return it was told the timeframe for the return was up so sorry no return. I explained to him that I was sent the wrong pole and he said, sorry. I ordered two boot brush "hedgehogs". One of the two that came in one big box was broken in two. These were inferior ceramic (very breakable - not metal) boot wipers with brushes that were already losing their bristles. I asked for a label to return them both. They said that their return policy was very clear I had to pay (they wouldn't eveb provide a label!) - they would send me a replacement for the broken one but if I wanted a credit for it and/or for both of them that I needed to pay the return postage - UPS was the cheapest and it was almost as much as the product. In short the product is less than adverrtised (very breakable) and cannot be returned for credit - (must be exchanged for an undamaged one and then returned for credit) so the cost of returning a broken product is yours - ridiculous! ABSOLUTE WORST! We recently purchased a bird feeder from BestNest. We chose to purchase an item for $350 with expectation we would be receiving high quality. When the feeder arrived the box had been extremely damaged, multiple holes in the box. When we opened it we found the feeder had been damaged, a piece of wood broken off and several places cracked. We weren't upset as these things happen but when we contacted BestNest to begin the process of shipping it back to them for a new one we were told the process would take too long for us to receive the new one when we needed it. We had purchased the item as a gift and had a small window to present it. We purchased a different feeder (same quality, $200 cheaper) and returned the broken item to BestNest. We requested a shipping label and were told since we were refusing to replace it we would have to incur the shipping fees and it was "against their policy to provide a shipping label." Again, note we did not "refuse" a new item, we wanted a new item they refused to resolve it in a timely manner (we had 7 days to receive the item, they would not comply). We paid $58 to UPS to return the item and then found out BestNest deducted $45 from our refund for the original shipping cost. I am beyond shocked. In today's online shopping system, respectable companies own the responsibility of packaging their items properly and they do not pass poor packaging mistakes along to customers. BestNest claims to be a Christian based company but they refuse to do what is best for their customers. They are more committed to money than to doing what is right. This company will not accept a return. It utilizes form emails and a script to frustrate customers. I ordered an arbor and the dimensions on its website were inaccurate. I hired a handyman to install the arbor. After taking all of the pieces out of the box, he showed me that the measurement for the width was slightly off and it would not fit in my space. I telephoned bestnest, and the person gave me the stock response to take pictures and email them. The product had already been return to its box and taped back up, and I was unable to send pictures. A form email advised me to return the item at my own cost. This box is huge and heavy - it will not fit in my car. I telephoned and a RUDE representative repeatedly interrupted me and advised that Bestnest does not permit returns. WHAT??? Cleary, this seller has a business practice of making returns impossible. I discovered BestNest.com via Google and placed a number of orders this summer for bird feeders, accessories, seed & suet. I appreciate their wide selection of weather guards & feeder hangers. Their prices for "birding hardware" are competitive to both Amazon.com and my local bird store. Excellent customer service too. I had a post mount bracket arrive with the powder coating rusted off. They took care of having the manufacturer send me a replacement free of charge. I didn't have to arrange shipping to return my defective post mount bracket either. I highly recommend them and would give them a five-star rating except I found their seed prices on the high side . Their safflower seed prices are 20- 25% higher than my local store, though the blends offerings are quite unique. read more

Paint was chipped off one metal bird feeder, which means it will rust quickly. The other metal bird feeder had a visually prominent part that was assembled crookedly at the soldered/brazed joint. I contacted BestNest.com immediately and sent pictures of the damaged and defective products. They also required pictures of the shipping invoice, the shipping label, and the shipping box. After a few days they determined that the damage and detect was not enough to warrant a replacement. They offered to discount the items if I repaired them myself. I can't repair the soldered/brazed joint on the one. The website notes that if I return the items they will deduct the shipping from my refund. Unacceptable that I either have to repair items myself or lose money. Steer clear. read more

My backyard arbor collapsed, and I needed a structure to hold my clematis. I purchased two adorable metal obelisks from bestnest.com. The only good news is they arrived promptly. The box was crushed, and the two obelisks were hopelessly stuck together. It took an hour to separate them, and in the process, they were scratched, and so was I. I thought about returning them, but I didn't have a box that size, and no time to shop for something else. Plus, if you return and do not have a replacement product sent, the shipping is on the customer! I called customer service, and spoke with Erica who seemed as if she might actually help. Ha ha. A so called "kite" that was a paper cutout you had to put together with staples and paper clips after cutting it away from its backing, and no string. It really wasn't a kite at all and I threw it away. Extremely disappointed. The kinetic wind sculpture I ordered arrived in a badly damaged box which had obviously been repeatedly shipped to multiple disappointed purchasers; it was patched with multiple tapes. Wind sculptures are metal, but require care in handling or they become unbalanced and won't turn in the wind. I feel intentionally misled and defrauded, and am quite certain FedEx is not the problem. This place is not recommended.... I ordered an iron plant stand from them that was supposed to be "free shipping". When it arrived, I opened it and found a defective piece of iron, with two spot welds detached. I had no intention of replacing it, due to poor quality, and had the FedEx Home Delivery person take it back. I then found out that the "free shipping" was not free after all.
