Had I known this I would have not purchased the package swim classes and would have just opted to purchase them one at a time last year . However, as of April 2025 it seems like their website no longer allows for you to purchase one session at a time anyway. From a customer service standpoint no one reached out to us to let me know that my credits would be expiring and that I should book a class soon. So that's a bit of a turn off and a bummer. We live in Hermosa so it's a good 20-25 min drive from our house to get there each time. I'm going to have to rethink whether or not we should continue with them or just look for a closer alternative at this point, given their expiration policy. Seems like such a waste of money. As for the instructor , my daughter has the best rapport with Carissa. All of their instructors are good though.

He faces severe motor-planning challenges and is a master of making as little as possible because his bandwidth is so low. He really liked water for sensory input but was also fearful and used to cling to my arm in the water. I used to be so worried what would happen if he ever fell in a pool here in SoCal and what if I wasn't there to help? Here comes the solution! I asked in a Facebook group for parents of kids with additional needs and Saul from Swim With Me came HIGHLY recommended. Thankfully, I got lucky and managed to book a spot straightaway in November 2023 and we haven't looked back since. Saul is simply incredible with ALL kids, but especially with kids with additional needs. You can tell that he loves children and that he loves swimming and how he fuses this passion into an outstanding human interaction. He sees your child and he meets them right where they are at. He guides them and encourages them with kindness, respect, dignity and a great sense of humor. (We always chuckle how my child manages to stay afloat with almost no legwork at all ) His lessons are well planned and contain elements of different kinds of swim moves to keep it interesting. My child absolutely LOVES his sessions with him. He is still taking sessions and while the actual motor-planning of coordinating legs and arms is still work in progress, he has won so much confidence and attained skills to swim a distance and stay afloat. He now enjoys swimming in the deep end of our gym's pool. I am always right by his side and can confirm that he can stay happily and confidently afloat for 60+ minutes. None of this would have happened without Saul. We have seen so many therapists, teachers and instructors and if more of them were like Saul, the world would be a much better place for our children with additional needs. Saul is an outstanding instructor and a wonderful human being. I trust him with my child's life every week and I am not doing that lightly :-).

The backyard pool deck area is expansive with lots of seating for parents to be comfortable and watch their little in the pool. Pool is heated to 88 F...I wish I could have hung out in the pool while our son was having his lesson. The underlying swim theory of how John gets kids swimming is fantastic. He is very quick to gain rapport with the kiddo and can pick up their cues as to how to best help and guide them. Lots of pool toys, fins, goggles, etc for the kids to use. Pricing is high end for 30 min lessons but definitely within range of normal for the area and given the quality and end result... absolutely worth every penny. Plenty of free street parking in the front and side of house (corner lot). We tried other options for swim lessons before being recommended to see John and we are sooooo happy we found him!! So far it has worked out great. I also like that the facility opened in September 2025 (which was when we first joined) so it's still new and things are still kept clean. I like that my daughter gets to swim with different instructors every now and then because I believe each one has their own techniques and way of swimming that might click for some kinds and not others. The only way to know is to actually try it! My daughter knows how to swim now but we still go here every week so that she can work on her form and technique. Short version: I wouldn't let Jeannie Lambert teach a dog how to swim let alone an infant…read more Long version: I found her on instagram and was fooled by the posts and videos. She was not very responsive when I tried to contact her and I figured she must be busy. She also charges 40$/10 minute lesson and I figured she must be really good to charge this much (I was completely wrong). She finally responded but evaded/did not answer my questions directly in my emails. I should have clued in then but unfortunately gave her the benefit of the doubt. Finally after a few emails I got written confirmation from her that the lesson is 1:1 (only her and my baby in the pool). She was willing to accommodate my schedule which I appreciated. The lesson is at a private house in MB and I got to the first lesson with my 9 month old baby 20 minutes early. She didn't have a problem with it and said she could start. There was a kid maybe 6 or 7 in the pool with Jeannie when she asked me to hand over my baby. I was expecting the kid would leave the pool. He did not. Instead he started throwing toys at Jeannie and splashing her while she was HOLDING my baby. My baby started screaming and freaking out. I saw water get into her mouth and told Jeannie. She said it's fine, and that it's saliva not water... I felt so helpless. I wanted to yell at her and the kid but I stopped myself b/c I thought it would traumatize my baby further. After this horrifying lesson my baby who was super outgoing and friendly developed severe stranger danger. For about a month after this experience if anyone other than me as much as touched her hand she'd go into a fit of crying. To my utter surprise Jeannie cashed my check for the whole week even though I told her I will not be returning. When I asked for a refund she agreed to it. I asked her to leave me a check (not cash) and I will come pick it up. I was going to let this whole thing go and just move on (I found an amazing new swimming instructor and my baby absolutely loves the lessons). But when I dropped by to pick up my check from Jeannie, it was an envelope full of ONE dollar bills (the refund was for $120). She then texted me asking me to let her know if I got her envelope. As if she was trying to get some reaction out of me... I then realized just how pathetic this woman is and felt compelled to waste another 10 minutes of my time on her writing this review in hopes of warning other parents.

My kiddo absolutely loves Jeannie and the water. The first experience with ISR can be troubling especially for parents. My little cried he whole 6 weeks of her first summer, but she learned to float on her own, rollover in the water in her winter clothes and float until someone could help her. Jeannie is caring and responsive to children's needs. There were times where she didn't do anything but splash with my infant because she wasn't having it or had swallowed water or gas bubbles. I recommend every parent who has access to a poll to get their children water safe. It's not always an easy process, so brace yourself. You kid will get wet , they will swallow water, they will cry, but they will survive! The second year I had a little fish instead of a crying baby in the water. It was such an incredible transition! OMG, I so highly recommend him!. MY GIRLS HAVE LEARNED HOW TO SWIM IN 10 WEEKS!!!!!! I am embarrassed to admit they went straight from the bath tub, where they always cried about not wanting water in their faces and washing their long hair was a nightmare, to swimming with Jose. Sure, the first couple of lessons were a little painful. He gave me great tips to do at home to let go of the fear of water and they really worked. Still, one of them cried in the first lessons but Jose was able to get her to relax and stick her face in the water without much anxiety. Jose's teaching style is firm but playful. He gives instructions in a loud but calmed manner, and for those not familiar with sports coaching it may be striking, but lets face it, the kids are in the water where listening is not easy. Anyway, he is also playful and compassionate and celebrates every little progress so I am a happy mom. Now, the best is that I just can't believe it happened so fast!! I pressed Jose for a time frame since I was very anxious to make them water safe and he said "give them two or three months". I was very sceptical since my girls seemed so behind and I have seen my friends with kids take lessons for one or two years at other well known places in the South Bay and not make the kind of progress I needed to see for my own peace of mind. Sure, my girls were taking private lessons instead of group lessons with 3-4 kids at a time, but I have spent WAY LESS MONEY in total than my friends to make them water safe. Now I can't tell you how happy and relieved I am to know that my daughters are not only water safe but swimming from one end of the pool to the other with such great style for a 5 year old!! And as the daughter of a professional athlete, style and form are really important for me. The down side: even though the pool is indoor and heated, the water is not always as worm as I would like. The kids are fine but I personally like it worm so that I feel like jumping in with them more often!
