Dr. Wapnir has been one of my strongest allies in my fight against metastatic breast cancer, performing several long surgeries to remove difficult cancerous lymph nodes. At one recent visit she sent me to radiology for ultrasound and then came in to study the images of the nodes for herself as they weren't easy to see on other tests. She spent considerable time with me and the radiologist until she was satisfied with the surgical direction she would take. Her staff is superb: easily accessible, kind and helpful. I have unhesitating confidence in Dr. Wapnir, her expertise, her professional skills, and her caring manner. Other reviews save one show her to be excellent during delivery. I would recommend that she be avoided when one needs to make an annual check-up booking.

I have been in search of a good gynecologist for my whole adult life and unfortunately this office…read morewas not it. The Dr. quickly listened to my complaints before prescribing me birth control which, in my experience, seems to be the only thing gynecologists know how to do other than deliver babies. I came away from the visit no closer to understanding what is causing my symptoms and what my options are to improve them. When I asked the doctor "so the plan is to just have me on birth control for the next 15 years until menopause?" She said yes. I hate this option but I currently have no better ones. I'm sure she's great at caring for expectant mothers, but women have a whole host of conditions besides pregnancy and while I understand that our modern medical system does not teach how to treat many of them, I'm hoping to find a doctor who will at least try. I should also mention that after they started me on birth control, they had me come in for a visit to "see how things are going" and this visit lasted under 5 minutes (probably closer to 2 minutes) but you better believe they billed me $257.

Haven't seen Dr for a couple years due to other health issues. Cancer. Didn't even look me in the eye, went on and on about how much this is going to cost me. Suggested I go to a county hospital. Half ass exam. Not returning and I will be getting a second opinion. Bedside manner goes a long way. Shouldn't say "this is not good" while ultrasound was going on. Rushed me out. I have never been treated this way due to insurance. Give me a break. You got your money. Work on it.

This last one was really a one or two star experience. We arrived for our 9:45 appointment at 9:30 with all of our paper work for our amnio filled out as requested. When I made the appointment, I explained that we had already been through genetic counseling and gave them the exact date of our last appointment. I also inquired if there would be enough time as I had to leave to pick up our oldest son by a specific time. I was assured that there was plenty of time. We were finally called in at 10:20 and much to my dismay, the genetic counselor did not have our previous file, so we had to go through all of the details all over again. Ugh! She was less than efficient as we sat there after all her questions watching her fill out forms. We were then led back to the waiting room to wait for our ultrasound and amnio procedure. As we waited and waited and waited, another patient went to the window to inquire how much longer the wait would be. She was told that they were squeezing her into their schedule, but she should be up next (she arrived well after us). When I went to inquire as to how much longer we would have to wait, I was told that we still had a couple of people ahead of us (the same one who was being fit in and arrived after us) as well as another patient who arrived after us. I explained that I had planned this appointement with the assurance that I would be able to get back in time to pick up our son from school. I was told that if it got too late, they would just reschedule me. Ugh! We were finally called in at 11:30....and yes after those who arrived after us which is frustrating since we'd been there so long. Thankfully, the ultrasound tech was awesome! Very good at giving info and very professional. Dr. DePalma was also awesome and the amnio went well without any complications and very little discomfort. I would give these two 5 stars if I could do it seperate. I'm pretty understanding about delays and such, especially when your dealing with an OB office and what can be very serious information and emergencies. What I'm not okay with is them not preparing for my appointment and having the info from previous visits and also not taking patients in the order they arrived. So, while they are very good at what they do, prepare yourself to wait and wait and wait some more.

I would call before lunch or after lunch and even though it is not during their lunch hour, the announcement I would get is always that the place is closed. I am not sure if it was a technical problem with their phones, but I had to try a few different times before I was able to get through to a person and make my appointment. Even though the appointment-making was frustrating, I was pleased by my Nuchal Translucency appointment. I was there at 9:03am for my 9:00am appointment. I had read about some of the others' experiences with delays on Yelp, but I didn't have nearly the same experience. I was done and out of there by 9:40am, and I rather enjoyed my appointment with the technician, Christine. They do not, however, offer 20-week ultrasound service here so I ended up having to make that appointment with the Oakland office.
