I…read morewas first concerned with the lack of communication leading up to the installation, which was on a fairly tight schedule. Greg was hard to get a hold of, did not relay critical information to our contractor, and ultimately ended up starting almost a month later than initially planned. After installation, the white oak floors looked beautiful. However, after another 2 months passed, the floors on the lower level started cupping. They were installed over sleepers on top of a concrete floor. Similar to the first review - it appears that Greg did not check the moisture before starting. A few months after that - the floors began buckling because once installed they went too tight to the wall and left no room for natural expansion (the buckling was measured at 4.5"!!! Not exaggerating). This is flooring installation 101! I have no idea how they missed this. We ultimately had to replace the floors, and Greg was unresponsive. Nowhere to be found. Our contractor contacted the flooring manufacturer, who stated that the product quoted and installed on the lower level was not specified for concrete, and told us they only would recommend the engineered hardwood. That's not even the end of it - this summer our upstairs floors started to buckle - not quite as bad as downstairs - but once again due to the fact that they installed the floor without leaving any room for natural expansion. I would never recommend Brown's hardwood to anyone based on the following: 1) Poor workmanship - bordering on negligence in the installation. 2) Unprofessional communication and timeframe. 3) Disappearing when the problem needed to be corrected!

I am a resident property manager for a family with several homes in the Woodstock area. We had an…read moreexisting Overhead garage door and needed to replace just the rotted wood panels. They sent a woman Jeanine, to evaluate the job. Although I had asked her to stop at the house, I just happen to see her leaving the property, and called her cell. She said she had a lot of site visits to make and would call me when she got back to the office, and would also send me an information packet via email. No phone call, no packet. After a month I called her cell, and said that I had received no packet. She said she had sent it; we confirmed my email and I had her send an email confirmation immediately, which I got. I then waited 3 weeks, checking my spam and still nothing. I called the Rutland office explaining the situation, the gentleman on the desk told me Jeanine was next to him dealing with a customer and as soon as she was through she would call me--no call, no packet. After 5 weeks, I tried one last time (owner's request), calling the office. I was put through to Jeanine, who once again said the email must have gone astray, and asked for my email address--again. I responded, before I do that, do you want the job. Her response was "we don't want the job, have a nice day" and hung up. I re-dialed the Rutland office and spoke to April, who represented herself as the manager. She said I had refused to give my email, and I told her my point was if they didn't want the job giving my email yet again was just a further waste of my time. April then repeated the line "we don't want the job, have a nice day" and hung up. I am aware that many of the servicer/trade businesses are short staffed--something I deal with all the time. But the professional and courteous companies thank you for your inquiry, hope you will try them in future, and often offer a referral. They don't string you along for 4 months, offer lame excuses, and then tell you shove your job, but do "have a nice day". Give this Overhead franchise a miss. Will M.
