Jumping through hoops to get a continuation of evaluation with School District Psych request another evaluate (going on year 3) my child would benefit IEP class that can give structure in a smaller setting to support with learning disabilities, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) outlines tailored educational strategies. For 3 years my child has struggled and still continue to struggle (ongoing "F"s in 3 of her classes). When reaching out to her teacher only to be recommended to another 3rd party learning facility (unwilling to help). This school does NOT care for the best interest of your child's education. Possible mismanaging funding. However, they certainly care about the number of VOTES (funding programs) I get ongoing emails, text messages, voice messages stating: "don't forget to vote" . But, anytime a parent is reaching out for help, NO action taken from the School District what so ever. The bullying at this school is disgusting, the school bus transportation is excessively / poorly managed late at least 3x per week or don't have a bus in route due to short staffing, not enough drivers and will mark your child "unexcused tardy" without any type of communication from the transportation dept.

After attending SLHS for 4 years, I would say it was alright. At least, it was a whole lot better…read morethan the local Middle School. The teachers were good, they actually enjoyed teaching the students and gave off a positive vibe (99% of them, but I will discuss that later). There were quite a few electives to choose from such as art, woodworking, graphic design, photography, culinary, engineering, and a few gym classes. The only downside I would say is they don't allow students to take an elective more than once unless it has an advanced class. For example, you could take first year culinary and then take second year, but they don't have anything past that and won't allow you to take the class again. I really enjoyed woodworking, but since there wasn't a second year class, I couldn't take a more advanced class. Sometimes the teacher could write it off for you and you would be taught separate from the class, but it was very rare and didn't actually credit you any credits (more or less counted as an open hour). In terms of sports, they did quite well. The coaches were experienced and enthusiastic to coach. The equipment was fairly new if not brand new. The only problem was the school doesn't really have a soccer field, they just practiced in the outfield of the baseball field and set up some old nets. For the more recent years they moved practice to Bethel's stadium, which is around a 15-20 minute drive, so its not as convenient, but it is a nice stadium. Mr. Robak teaches weight training and is also the head football coach and is one of the best coaches anyone could ever have. Mr. Dewitt is also one of the Advanced Algebra teachers at the school and coaches the golf team, he has also done a great job at teaching the players and overall has a very positive attitude. For the negatives; There are often fights at the school, a lot of them. Students are punished quite harshly, but I didn't get involved so I don't have much experience in it. The few encounters I did have with bullying, were dealt with quickly and reasonably. The principles and security are often swift to resolve the conflict and genuinely care about the students safety. I know there are some students that would say otherwise, but that is what I've experienced. There are some teachers there that really don't care for the students. I can only think of 1, but I won't name them out of respect. They grade very harsh and then pride themselves for failing the students. When I contacted a counselor to get transferred out of the class, I was told there were no other openings in other classes and I had to finish the year. This teacher in particular spent more time talking about his fishing pole collection than he did teaching, no clue how he is still teaching there. Many students have also experienced this and felt the same way. Many of the teachers were also transferred or retired while I was going there. A few science, math, and history teachers and were really nice ended up (mostly retiring) leaving the district. Not because they disliked the school, but some had to move to have shorter commutes, take care of family matters, or switched because not enough students were taking the class to fill the teachers contract. But there were many good teachers that still teach there, so I wouldn't really consider it a negative. But overall, it was fairly good school and i'm glad I attended there.

After he was hurt he "threatened the…read moreteacher" by saying "do that shit again ima beat your ass" (I'm being 100% transparent here) now he's being suspended. The teacher slammed a door on his entire forearm and the school is lying saying that the door only bumped his elbow. MIND YOU THERE IS VIDEO FOOTAGE. I headed down to the school and confronted everyone. I told them I'd be taking it to the superintendent and if necessary the news station. I told them that someone needs to apologize to him for hurting him. That if the teacher (Mr. Gwenzy) doesn't apologize then the dean of students / principle (Mr. Fiteny ) should because THATS YOUR EMPLOYEE WHO FUCKED UP. You don't hurt children. You sure as hell don't act a whole ass because you don't want to apologize when you're in the wrong. That being said to this day no one has apologized. I went to the ER and they looked at his arm. They said his arm was swollen and they said he had a contusion and it will be sore for 2-3 weeks. I already made a request for the video footage. I made a police report as well and I plan on pressing charges. This all could have been avoided if Mr. Gwenzy or Mr. Fiteny apologized for the way they handled the situation. Regardless if now they're saying it was an accident, they should have done the adult thing and apologize. Completely disappointed in Clover Park High School.

Yes, they set up temporary buildings due to the fire the idiot started the year prior to my attendance. Then they built a brand new brick building (the one now used for the school) and it starting cracking and had holes in the concrete pretty much right after we moved in sometime during third trimester. Wonder who the genius engineers were on this project... Probabaly graduates of CPHS and UW no doubt. The way this new building was built offered little in managing the progress of students, because students could wander around and not be in classes. We had some students who were druggies and pranksters, but we never had cops patrolling the hallways as they do today for the hellions. I guess the parents today are worse than they were in my day as a student. At least, there was an attitude difference. For the most part, we actually had a conscience as opposed to most kids today. The setup is a reminder of the Harry Potter school--4 "schools" in a single building. Yes, students are segregated in the same manner and it teaches them not to be competitive or helpful, but to fail. Kids and teachers alike don't care. Teachers want to shove the problem kids out to AI and don't want to help them with academics. They would rather help polish the ones who are already A students. Those are few and far between as several of these students come from lower middle and below income levels. Just check the stats on "free meals." And what the hell is this WASL crap? We didn't have to do any of that to graduate. We had to actually learn the math, grammar, writing, chemistry, etc. to graduate. Teachers are teaching to the state test and producing idiots. It's not just at CPHS, but statewide and this is a disservice to the students. No wonder so many of them drop out. They can't use the useless crap they're teaching and apply it in the real world.
