This is my third time that my family has stayed in this particular hotel. We have always been met with very good customer service. It's very easy to park and it's only $25 which is so reasonable for the DMV area. We could've stayed at a Marriott closer to DC however, this one has very ample parking. My family and I also love that this location has Cooper's Mill downstairs and the food is always really good. Sometimes you just want a solid experience. I will continue to bring my family here as well because it's super affordable. read more

Our second time staying at this Marriott hotel! This was for a 10 Day/Night Stay in early December on the first floor. Liked the convenience of the guest/visitor parking right by the Room. The initial activation of the Room Key card didn't work getting in and out of the gates, so had to get them re-activated at the front desk. Stayed in Room 103 during our visit to this hotel. There were Pros and Cons with our room and the Amenities of the hotel... Pros: -Close to downtown Bethesda, Grosvenor Metro, I-270 and 495 -Close to the Marriott HQ, Wildwood Shopping Center, Montgomery Mall -Fitness Room -Daily Housekeeping Cons: -No microwave in the room or common area, had to go to the lobby of the snack bar to use it -Ice machine in first floor didn't work, so had to go to the second floor -Our Room's bathroom sliding door had issues, wouldn't slide properly and fell off a couple of times -TV Channel Guide had no detailed information available -Fitness Room treadmills were intermittently shutting off or getting stuck -Complimentary Breakfast in the M Lounge only for Platinum Members and above (shouldn't all Marriott Bonvoy Members get it? Just a thought) Overall, we had a very enjoyable time minus a few of the Cons. But liked the cleanliness and convenience of the location. We were able to drive and commute to a lot of different places in the DMV while we were visiting MD. Didn't get a chance to eat at the Cooper's Mill restaurant this time around, so maybe next time. They have a lounge that has soft drinks, chips, coffee, and TVs, and there's a free breakfast if you have access to the lounge. Parking was easy enough and the guy looks great. Aesthetically pleasing hotel with an open concept bar and restaurant on the main level. The check-in process was simple. The hotel room was very nice with modern features such as an upgraded headboard, fancy sofa, contemporary lighting and bathroom features. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bar staff and other restaurant staff members were friendly. The food was good and the drink was strong. We had an early dinner and drinks during happy hour, so there were a number of food and beverage items priced accordingly. I really enjoyed my stay. read more

As a Washingtonian now living in San Francisco we have stayed at this Marriott hotel property for several years especially during the Christmas & Hanukkah holidays seasons. The primary reason is due to its closeness to my Mom place less than a mile away, easy access to a major 495 highway and Route 355 Rockville Pike and Wisconsin Avenue. The holidays staff is usually very polite and professional. The occupancy is sparse due to the holiday season. There is surface parking which cost $20 per day and seems very reasonable versus what we pay in San Francisco or other major cities. The breakfast is very good at Cooper's Mill restaurant and the atmosphere is charming especially with both the Christmas a d Hanukkah decorations. The only downside are the lack of an actual gift shop as well as the first floor hallway needs an upgrade of carpeting and wall paper which has taken a beating over the years and needs a "refelresh". The guest room we had has been nicely upgraded over the years with modern bedding, television, bathroom and lighting. read more

The staff at this Marriott were by far the most outstanding I have ever experienced at a hotel. Specifically, at the M Club, Iris went above and beyond each day to make my husband and I feel welcomed and taken care of. She always greeted us with a smile and provided us with the most delicious appetizers. I would recommend this hotel because of all of the staff, but mostly Iris. read more

If the elevators worked (1/3 work) and the water was hot... maybe!!! I've stayed here two different times in the past month and on two differ floors and my story is the same-- hot water is almost nonexistent at best, water pressure will go to none in the middle of your shower- first stay two elevators worked and this past week only one was working! One week I was not charged parking the second week I was charged $22 per day! There are way too many options in the area to try this hotel a third time!!! Staff is fabulous but that didn't help my cold shower or waiting 5-10 minutes for an elevator! I'm sorry pooks hill, I really tried giving you a second chance for the last 3 nights!!! read more

The hotel has a very good restaurant called Coopers Mill. Had breakfast there and loved the food and service. Since it's in a hotel you have the option of the buffet. I love trying eggs Benedict wherever you can find it. They had 3 types of eggs Benedict with lobster and crab cakes. I chose the regular one. Coffee was excellent . Service was great and very attentive. Here's what could have been better. AFAIK eggs Benedict have an hollandaise base so they should be a bit tangy. For me the seemed a bit tame. The potatoes were have cut and well and fried right. If I was the chef here, I would add a third garnish to make the dish a bit more outstanding maybe a grilled tomato with a circle of tomato ketchup. Just a wish not a complaint. Nice place in Montgomery county when you want to meet friends or conduct business. Nice location right off 270/495/355 Ave the restaurant and validate the parking. read more

Surprisingly the Avis / Budget which is in the bottom floor does not have a separate listing but I'm glad to report it's become extremely efficient and friendly since being taken over by new ownership last year, replacing the abomination of an Avis location in the mall. Have used it twice to rent gas powered cars for trips where my EV range was borderline, and got clean vehicles with the promised status upgrades. Avis fleet is generally older than Hertz but well maintained , especially as this is not an airport location where people are just trashing the cars . Alright, this my 3rd stay at this Bethesda Marriott. Overall, each stay (varies from 1 to 5 nights) have been good. The hotel is kept clean, and in most areas it almost looks like a new hotel. The rooms have all been very clean and well furnished. They have most of the standard extras - fridge, house phone, microwave and a coffee maker. Btw, the room coffee has been better than average room coffee. However, my current room does not have an alarm clock. Some say, "Get over it." I say, "I don't want to have to reach for the cell phone and fumble with it, to see what time it is, in the middle of the night. I prefer to peek at the alarm clock and hope I have a couple more hours to get more sleep." The TV is nice, and they leave an hdmi cable attached - so we can display from the laptop. Sometimes, there have been minor maintenance issues. This time the sink is slow to drain because the stopper needs adjustment. I would expect housekeeping would notice it and report it to maintenence for repair. The slow drain could have been a stopped up drain, and should have been corrected by the maintenace department. The desk staff, in particular 'Parma', has been great. The room and ammenities rates seem to fluctuate greatly. Sometimes they are very low. Other times I have seem them very high.maybe it's the nature of the industry - I don't know. Breakfast being an addition charge, unless you basically live at Marriotts, is a huge detractor. Parking fees in addition to the room rate is another negative. Ever if someone is just visiting for an evening at the bar or restaurant, paying for parking seems excessive to me. Not my hotel. Just renting a room. I'll probably stay here again when I'm in the area. read more

I attended a two-day work conference at Bethesda Marriott and also stayed at the hotel during that time. The hotel is a good location for business travel. It is right off the freeway and is not far from Downtown Bethesda and D.C. I took the train to Union Station in D.C., and then it was a short ride from there to the hotel. Check-in went smoothly. To my pleasant surprise, I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite due to my Titanium elite status. The suite was so huge. The living room had a couch, a dining table, and a large balcony overlooking the pool. Unfortunately, the balcony door was permanently shut, which was a shame because it would have been nice to step outside and enjoy the weather. It was such a nice room, and I wished that I had more free time to spend in there to make the most of it. There is one restaurant - Cooper's Mill, a rustic farm-to-table experience. I had breakfast and dinner there. The food is good, and it is all locally sourced. M Lounge connects to the restaurant for the breakfast buffet, and it is a quality buffet with a made-to-order omelet station. My breakfast was complimentary thanks to the M Lounge access, but it is an affordable buffet otherwise. The M Lounge is spacious and is a good space to get work done, but I barely used it as I was at my conference most of the time and had a spacious suite for the little free time that I had outside of the conference. The fitness center is huge and looked nice, but I did not go near it at all. I did not have a car, but self-parking is only $19 a night. Overall, Marriott Bethesda is a very nice hotel. I would not choose them for a vacation since they are not in the heart of town or close to major tourist attractions, but I would be happy to stay here again if I am attending another event being held at the hotel. read more

"As I sit here alone in my cabin I can see your mansion on the hill" (Bruce Springsteen) When I saw that the Marriott was located on Pooks Hill Road, I just had to learn more about where that odd street's name came from. Well it turns out that the name came from an old 1906 Rudyard Kipling story "Puck of Pook's Hill". I learned that an affluent publisher owned a 150 acre parcel of land in Bethesda, was a fan of that Kipling story, built a huge "castle-like" mansion there, and that the  property was once occupied by exiled Norwegian royalty who fled to the U.S. after the Nazi invasion. Eventually, the mansion was demolished and some decades later, the Marriott was built on the property. And what a grand 19,000 square foot hotel they built! Super modern and gorgeous with a state of the art fitness center (Peloton bikes and TRX equipment), a lovely restaurant (Cooper's Mill) and a spiffy lounge (M Club) for Concierge level guests and qualified Marriott Elites. Our room was excellent. Comfortable beds, excellent built in flat screen TV, plenty of TV stations, plenty of plugs and USB ports everywhere, a big bathroom with a big glass door shower station. We were there for a family event and our rate was $95 + $5.70 state tax + $6.65 county tax. Parking was supposed to be $19/day, but I'll get to that later. Thanks to my brother-in-law's Marriott level, we did visit the M Lounge a few times and it was huge with all kinds of comfortable seating. We held an impromptu family reunion and a meet up with friends in the area there. Now for the parking -it was a mess. Their two lots have a gate that's supposed to open and close with your room key, but it didn't work and we saw that eventually the gates were kept open all the time which kind of defeats the purpose of a gate controlled lot. I really didn't want to pay $38 for nothing (when we checked out another party was voicing the same opinion) and we had the charges dropped from our bill. But all in all, we had a terrific visit worthy of that old Mansion on the Hill. read more

Stayed overnight for a work conference that was held in their banquet room. Loved loved loved the glass shower. The bed was comfy and the TV clicker worked great. The lunch at the conference was fabulous! Right?! Surprising for a large group that the food was great. So if you are planning a wedding or other event, I recommend the salmon and risotto; they nailed those two. The lobby was in the Halloween spirit with a pumpkin carving contest . Oh and the restaurant inside the hotel, Cooper's Mill was great. Yummy food and fun atmosphere. read more

Can a hotel be 'nice' and not nice at the same time? If so- that's this hotel. It was nice when we walked in, but the hallways weren't nice at all. They felt old and disconnected. I'll also note that the parking lots are weird. There are a few and they're gated. When we received our room key I asked the person where should we park to be closer to our room and she said wherever. After choosing the wrong lot and walking what felt like a mile to get to our room I realized she was wrong. I was there 5 minutes and figured out the room number system. The low numbers were on one side and high on the opposite. We had room #377, almost the final room in the hotel. Why didn't she direct me to the best parking lot to go in to give me the shortest walk to my room. I've shared pictures- but something was off with the carpet and something was very wrong with the walls on the Thurs floor. I legitimately wonder if it's safe. They should not pretend like something's not very wrong here. As an aside, I was bummed they breakfast wasn't included. That happens, but it's a bummer that hen it does. I try to stay at Marriott Bonvoy hotels when we go places and this is not one I'd want to return to. read more

I thought that I didn't do a lot of hotel reviews, but I do. Well, here goes another one. Checked in on a Tuesday and this place was packed, they must have had some meetings going on for some company. I checked in using my company's website service. The problem was I couldn't choose a floor. I also never got any notification on my app. I knew this was going to be a challenge. When I checked in, I was given a 1st floor room which I do not like. I asked if there was any other room available. I was able to get a third floor room out of 15 floors. I thought ok, that's fine. This hotel is next to a bunch of apartments and it looks like the first floor would be busy. No issues with noisy neighbors in the hotel, cause I never saw any in my area. But yet I was told the hotel was sold out. It wasn't, it was bs. I didn't eat at the restaurant that is in the hotel, and never had the breakfast cause my work hours started very early. The gym was great! Not too many people were there. Lots of equipment and I used it everyday! Room was clean, hallways were dirty. Service, was very subpar. There were two people that were helpful. The others sucked and had no interest in helping you. It took me 3 days after checkout to get a receipt?? Why three days? Any other hotel it takes 5 minutes after checkout. The other thing was my colleague whom has over 2 million reward points wanted to check out early and they said we have to charge you for the room! Are you kidding me!? They also charge $19.00 a night for parking. If I am in the area again, I will not stay here. read more

Won't be staying here again, the lobby smells musky and the gym by the elevator smells like major BO. Maybe it was the weekend we were there, but here are all the reasons why I gave 1 star: - no free parking, parking cost $19 a night which is dumb because how else can you get to the hotel? Even Hilton inns provide free parking... - only 1 working elevator during my stay (2 nights), there is a total of 16 floors so that was a mess - asked for a hair dryer and had to call multiple times - the counter of the bathroom was not clean Overall, not a good experience for us. The only pro was the floors are wooden if you don't stay on the first floor as I am not a fan of carpet floors. read more

We have stayed twice. The first time I would have given it a 2 star. If you're a bonvoy make sure you check your preference very well. I have only foam pillows and the hotel took that as a feather allergy not a preference. So they stuck us in a room near the elevator! I pointed out that I was a Elite Marriott member and the young man didn't give us access to the M club. Very annoyed! I was only staying one night so I didn't fuss Pluss for some reason the water in the bathroom on the 6 floor smelled like sulfur. The second stay was much better and I got my access to the M club,it was pretty good especially the full breakfast! The room was clean except for the blow dryer had long black hair stuck in it and so did the tub. Other than that it was a good stay. read more

I was here for 1 night on a business trip. It's about 30-40 minutes from DCA and is a bit secluded from Bethesda. The building itself seems like it's been modeled and has a nice modern feel to it. The lobby has a strong 'hotel' aroma that's a little too much but once you reach the room floors, it goes away. The amenities are pretty decent, except for no free parking. The fitness room was very well lit with cardio machines and various weights. There is also free printing available next to the check-in counter. The WiFi is decent and if free if you have a Marriott bonvoy account. Also, if you download the Bonvoy app, you can check in/check out straight through the app, completely bypassing the check-in counted. You also have an electronic key which was pretty neat and use your phone similar to the new tap credit card capability. Overall, I had a pleasant 1 night stay here, but wish there was closer food options and sight sees to the hotel (restaurant inside the hotel was ok -- recommend bar-type food only) read more

The room was nice and staff were excellent, especially with the issues the hotel was having while booked. I was booked 9-12 Sept and of those days I had a hot shower only one time. 5 times the water was absolutely freezing cold and the one was barely tepid. Also, if I went to the bar to get a beer it was $10 but if I ordered via the Al La Carte menu it was $6 from the same bar? Lastly, on the 11th, room service never came and I had to go downstairs to get coffee for the maker. Overall, a pretty poor stay for $261/night gov rate. In defense, staff did provide points to give me a night stay at a Marriott but I would have prefferred to enjoy my recent stay vs be comped a night. read more

The Front Desk Associate Keno needs to be cloned. His genuine polished, & welcoming demeanor made my checking in easy. As I was trying to stay above the fray of crazed children taking over the hotel due to a school tour. My brief parking glitch of not being able to access the parking lot through the gate, had Keno without hesitation waived the parking fee. The Lobby area has different pockets to lounge in with TV's, a central place where guests can sit, chat, work & charge devices. Aromatherapy is present throughout the entire lobby, with comfortable decor providing a laid back atmosphere. The standard king size room gave enough room to move around, with hardwood floors, a built in flat screen TV, a comfy chaise in the corner with a personal reading light. The shower only bathroom came stocked with Thann products. The onsite restaurant Cooper's Mill is a hot spot all within itself with its lively bar/lounge/restaurant vibe. Room Service can be delivered to the room or you can pick up your order from the Host Stand...the latter you can pay with cash & avoid the room tax charge. Other amenities includes a Sundry Store, Exclusive M Club Lounge, state of the art Fitness Center with Peloton Bikes/TRZ equipment, a seasonal outdoor pool, patio & complimentary shuttle for getting around locally. Arriving the hotel looks outdated, yet inside along with the rooms the recent renovations makes a huge difference...it was a good stay. read more

In July 2024 I stayed there for several days. I used the workout room twice. There was a large group of teens staying at the hotel during this timeframe. They were in the workout room. I have never seen such ugly, meanness towards others. They were nearly destroying the equipment, allowing all the machines to DROP from the Highest levels up making very Loud bangs. They were Yelling and Screaming at each other. I tried to explain that this was inconsiderate and disruptive. No one from the hotel ever apparently comes into this workout room. These 'guests' were truly barbaric, juvenile, atrocious with zero empathy towards others. Scary how people can behave in a shared space others are trying to have a healthy, peaceful workout. I did mention it to a staff member but no one cared. I will never stay there again. read more

Best Crabcake I've ever had! I absolutely LOVE seafood so I've been to all the highly rated seafood restaurants, but hands down Cooper's Mill beats the competition. Most places skimp on the crab and add a bunch of filler for an unreasonable price. The crabcake here was huge and stuffed with only crab. It comes on a bun with fresh lettuce, tomato, and a side of fries. I thought it was such a good deal for only $18! I'll definitely be back with friends and family soon! read more

So disappointed in this last stay. Been to this Marriott various times over the last 11 years. The last two years I have gotten bitten by bugs at the hotel. Please do something about this problem. Usually the service is excellent. This last visit it was really lacking. The night manager did not believe me and had me wait at the counter while she called the other manager to see if what I was explaining to her was true. Definitely not what I would expect from Marriott. Shame on you! The breakfast buffet offered daily was good. They have a egg and waffle station. Oddly enough as I've been waiting since 10 am for a room it's 225 pm and still no room. Now I watched a woman next to me get a room and Charles Mallory at the front desk gave me some BS about she reserved a specific room that was cleaned yet somehow the room for me isn't clean. I've been on the road staying at hotels for 25 years. I stay at Marriotts 50 nights a year easy and I have never heard about a specific room being held unless it's a suite or something. My parents have now stayed here twice when visiting Bethesda. The front desk staff have always been super nice and even gave them great restaurant recommendations. The rooms are always super clean. My parents also really enjoy the member amenities in the M club including breakfast & the omelette/made-to-order egg bar, the espresso/coffee machine, and snacks that are available throughout the day. They already have a room booked for their next visit in the spring. read more

I hosted a regional meeting at the Pookshill Marriott, for my company.. horrible experience! I will never step foot in the hotel again. I should've known from the very beginning they were not trustworthy, extremely unorganized and far from being reliable. They gave us the runaround when we were trying to book the ballroom space for 80 attendees. Finally the meeting happens, it goes smooth, space was ok and food was fine. We've been chasing them for the bill since 10/19 finally sent it after many requests via email and leaving voicemails, it came today. When reviewing the details on the bill I found that prices are higher than what we agreed on and some additional charges we did not authorize. I emailed them AGAIN to correct all the errors, so they came up with lame excuses, asked me to contact 80 guests and request each to fill cc authorization. Deceptive communication about discounted room rates. Unclean room. We visited for a family graduation and were offered a group rate, arranged by the event planner. There was no limit communicated on the number of days we could receive the discounted rate. The event dates published by Marriott on the special booking link offered a 5 day date range. When we checked out we were charge full price for 2 of our 4 nights. The hotel has been unwilling to refund the extra room charge, falsely stating after the fact that there was a 2-day limit, although this limit was not communicated and not imposed on other guests in our family and we have provided proof of this. The hotel employees have since ignored our emails, no reply. It seems like there has been a change of staff and they are unable/unwilling to reply or correct this matter. The first room we were checked into was filthy- dirt and hair on every surface, brown sticky spots all over the bathroom walls and ceiling as if a previous guest exploded a can of soda and the bathroom was not cleaned. The room was warm and smelled bad, like plastic and fish. The windows do not open and the air conditioner was not working properly so it was not possible to air out the room. We asked to be moved to another room, which was clean, but this was not a great experience overall. The property is not in a bustling downtown neighborhood, its on an expressway, so I'm not sure why they charge $20 a night for parking. read more

I guess I had low expectations for this hotel based on its location, but I was so impressed by the friendly staff, excellent restaurant and updated rooms. I walked in without a reservation early in the morning after my apartment flooded and the front desk staff could not have been more accommodating. I would definitely recommend to friends and family visiting- the only downside is that it is not a convenient location for people without a car, but I did notice they offer complementary shuttle service to several places. read more

Gorgeous hotel! I stayed here yesterday and I had a great stay from start to finish the Marriott lounge is very impressive they have glass water bottles where you can fill them with stilled or sparkling filtered water and bring them to your room. They also have illy coffee which is the same coffee they have in Italy! They had candy, yogurts, trail mix, bars and snacks and the most spacious and gorgeous lounge area. Our hotel room was super modern. Their banquet rooms are beautiful they had a bar mitzvah going on and it was spectacular. I hope to come back soon. read more

Paulette Barnaby changed my review from 2 to 4 stars! Her friendliness and professionalism make me want to come back just to eat her food! They advertise King Bed rooms with a bathtub in the app but I was told by a staff member that those rooms do not exist unless you book an accessible room. I booked a room on the Concierge floor in order to be focused on ALL of the work I brought with me but when I went to the M Club Lounge neither key would work. When I went to the front desk, It turns out the M Club wasn't logged in on my room keys when I checked in. The woman at the front desk put both my keys through the machine to register the M Club. (In reality, only the black key actually works.) I'm wondering what a person must do to get good customer service from the front desk staff... The heat in my room is not working correctly so I went to work in the M Club Lounge. At the front desk, I explained the issue and was assured that maintenance would be up at the time I requested (8:30pm)... I decided to chat in the app and ask "what does a patron have to do to get good service from the front desk staff." I explained my issue with the heat and was given free parking since I had to wait so long. (I fell asleep with my sweatshirt on since it was still chilly in my room. I woke up to heat though!) Made it to the M Club Lounge at 6:45am, thinking I would beat the Sunday crowd. Yet, when I arrived I was told it didn't start until 7am. I'm thinking another session of training could benefit several front desk staff and the M Club Lounge staff to ensure everyone's in the same page. read more

I'm a Gold Elite Bonvoy member, I've stayed at Marriott hotels worldwide. My checkin and checkout experience at this one though was very unpleasant. -It took 20 minutes to give me my room key. [I was the only customer at the time]. The vibe I was getting was "Why are you at this hotel?" let alone welcome to Marriott. -I had a family and friends rate for a week of stay. I was told I could only use it for 1 day only. The moment they heard "friends/family" rate, I could see they were unhappy. Don't know why. -I asked for a supervisor/manager to look into the rate at the check in counter. I was told to wait for the manager. This hotel experience was terrible, I took a Washington DC trip and stayed here. The bathroom door is sliding, it doesn't lock, the bathtub is probably about 6 inches off the floor, touched all our stuff when they "cleaned", room 228 has a giant ledge in front of the window (no view), the tv doesn't work, and clothing iron doesn't work. I love this hotel! I had the pleasure of staying here for the first weekend in August and had a lovely experience. The woman checking me in was super sweet and upgraded my room for no extra charge. The restaurant was delicious and all the food was fresh. I ate there for dinner and for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was delicious, but it wasn't free, I can't remember how much. My favorite part was the omelette station. My room was so lovely. The bathroom had a super cute sliding door and was pristine. The bed was comfy and I had a really restful nights sleep :D the room was fairly spacious and was beautiful. I recommend all Marriott hotels but this was my favorite one by far. The staff were so friendly and attentive, oh and I also got a free Pepsi from the nice man working the front desk just because. I had such a fun time!!!! Come here if you are in Bethesda. I have to use this hotel on occasion to make reservations because my boss has to attend conferences in Bethesda and DC. My experiences booking this place has been mixed, but the gentleman I spoke with just now was clearly rude and annoyed that I called in because I wanted a confirmation email of my boss's stay. For some reason I haven't been able to get their email confirmations and I was worried that my booking didn't go through. The person on the other line (didn't catch his name but he sounded older) was annoyed that I bothered to ask what the confirmation was and even more annoyed that I wanted get an email. Let me tell you this, I worked in the service industry for over 4 years and I understand we have off days, but no need to be rude and dismissive when it is your job to make the customer happy. Marriott is definitely not my first choice when it comes to booking hotels because I always have problems with them one way or another, but I use them because the conferences my boss attends uses this franchise hotel. I will say whenever I call the 1-888 number the people on the other end are always super helpful and friendly. read more

I stay here every week and the associates are done of the sweetest people I've ever met. They always greet you with a smile and remember my preferences for my room etc. The rooms are large enough for me to put down a yoga mat, and the gym is excellent. The TV's are large and smart connected which is nice. Plus you get free HBO access. They have two types of rooms, some are carpeted and some are hardwood... So you can take your pick. There is also a shuttle to downtown Bethesda which is nice. The M Lounge serves heavy snacks in the evening between 5:30-7:30 then switches to dessert until about 9ish. You can access the breakfast buffet through a door in the lounge, as well. read more
