We bought a refrigerator, new and with a warranty of 3 months. Within a month, the ice cooling system broke. It makes continuous noise and the ice sensor needed to be replaced. We reached out a few times and we did not get a response. We had to call an independent contractor to fix the issue at our cost. Beware their definition of a new appliance. Afraid of used appliance so gave them a chance for new scratch and dent. I examined inside the refrigerator and found several loose screws and plastic part in a door shelf/bin. Salesman gave some excuse that didn't seem correct. I took it out and looked at shelf. There were circular scratches in bottom that looked the size of bottles or cans? I took out other door shelves. Held the clear plastic up to light and more scratches that the shelve had already been used. Scratch and dent to me means new inside but imperfections on the outside due to handling. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had buying an appliance. They lie about the product, they lie about the delivery and they will not hesitate to ignore you completely as it suites them. The products are overly used appliance thrown out by other people. They may look nice but they always fail right away or right after their warranty comes to an end. I bought a Kenmore stackable washer and dryer at the end of January 2017. Right off the bat, there were buttons on the dryer that didn't work but I was tired of shopping for washer/dryer and tired of not having one. Also the dryer didn't completely dry the clothes, so the sensor didn't work right. The washing machine would say 1 minute remaining in cycle for about 10 minutes but again - I didn't think it worth using the warranty. Now, 3 weeks past the warranty, the washing machine has not only malfunctioned (seems to be the water valve - it continues to fill with water after the cycle is complete and even when not in use), it has caused considerable flooding to the area around it and the floor below. I called Talal on the phone and he said he'd find someone to come help but then did not call back. The needed part for this model plus labor are over $300 which is more than I paid for this machine. I made a mistake using Better Appliance. It seems from the reviews that he makes good on the warranty by replacing the units (rather than repairing) but selling faulty appliances in the first place will make half of his job replacing them and handling warranties. read more

Once I arrived I was promptly greeted and quickly served. The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable about the product he had in stock. I bought a washer& dryer from this store, everything seemed fine, the person I spoke to was nice and responsive via email. I asked for an ASAP delivery on Monday when I bought them and was told that the earliest possible time was Thursday at 11am. I said fine, that I would wait. Thursday (today) rolls around he says OK we will be to you between 1-3pm. I emailed back and said I have to leave the house at 3:30pm so, if you are really going to be that late I don't think it's going to work. I asked him to let me know ASAP so that I could find another company to deliver if that was the case. I don't think that's too much to ask considering I have taken off work to wait for this washer/dryer. He says OK I understand maybe we can just come tomorrow? Yup- and take off another day of work, no thanks. Well it's 2:30 right now so I called them and he said "yea we're working on getting it on the truck now why are you complaining you're acting like everyone's always perfect and on time all the time." WHAT?! OK, so glad I found out before the washer/dryer arrived at my house that this is how Better Appliance operates. They saw no issue with the time they were delivering the item, and had no problem being extremely rude to me about it over the phone. I really would not trust this company. Great experience with our sales rep and love our new appliances! Would've given five stars if not for the HORRIBLE delivery fiasco. We were told we'd have a Thursday delivery so my husband took the day off to be there when our fridge and dishwasher arrived. After waiting the entire time frame, we were told it would be delivered the following day. When I moved into my place a year ago I realized I didn't have a normal size refigerator, but I couldn't find anything that would fit in the space cut out for a fridge. Then, one day, unexpectedly, the door came off of the fridge. Completely off. And, I needed a new fridge and fast. But, I couldn't find anything online that would fit the space, and I didn't want to spend $500 on a new fridge that was still too small, so I started thinking unconventionally and ended up on Craigslist. Better Applinaces had a refigerator listed with the perfect measurements for my space, so off I went to find it. When I got to the store a man quickly came up to assist me, providing me with a tape measure since I had forgotten mine at home. I found the perfect fridge for my space for only $225! Only $50 delivery charge, which was much lower than I expected since I live in DC. He said it could probably be delivered on Saturday. But, it was only Thursday. They asked me what exactly was wrong with my current refigerator and when I explained the situation they said they would be out that night or the next morning! And, at 8:30 p.m. I received a call from Ned, their delivery man. Ned was great! When the refigerator wouldn't fit through my kitchen door, Ned figured out a way to fit it. I am amazed by their service. Good service is hard to find in this day and age and you would never get this somewhere else. And, even if another store was willing to rush the delivery they would probably double the price for the inconvenience to them. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a great appliance but doesn't want to pay for the brand new price tag, and anyone who can appreciate fantastic service! read more

I purchased a fridge for $425 with a 30 day warranty on 22Mar15. They were always helpful and responsive. However, they were unwilling to do anything when the fridge stopped cooling within six months on the purchase. Of course, they weren't obligated to since there was only a 30 day warranty, but I would have hoped for a significant discount on a replacement or repair since I had the fridge such a short period of time. I ended up buying a brand new fridge from Home Depot on 21Aug15 for $775 with a much better warranty, which I should have done in the first place. Used appliances may be better for a washer and dryer as opposed to fridges where the Freon may be leaking when you purchase it and you won't know till after 30 days. read more

I had a good experience with the purchase, delivery, and installation of a dryer. They're responsive both over the phone and via text message. The purchase process over the phone was quick and painless. I was texted pictures of the dryer to confirm it's condition, and payment/delivery was coordinated a few minutes later. The delivery experience was a excellent, despite not knowing exactly when they'd show up. I wasn't given a specific time for delivery but was told it would arrive that day. Sure enough, at 5:45 pm, I received a phone call from the deliveryman to confirm I was home. He pulled up 15 minutes later, and I got to see firsthand why appliance deliveries can take time. He noticed that my old dryer cord was compatible with a stove outlet, not a traditional dryer outlet. He proceeded to remove the old cord and install in into the new dryer, which wasn't easy to do from what I could see. When I offered to just have an electrician come by and install the proper outlet, he insisted that it wouldn't be a problem to switch cords. He clearly placed a lot of value in making things easier for me despite the extra work he had to put in (at least 15 additional minutes). Afterward, he moved it into the basement, installed it, and tested it out by running it for a few minutes. I'll update the status in a few months regarding the condition of the dryer. My hope is that because it's a Whirlpool, it'll last a long time. read more

Had a problem with our dryer not heating and had a tech come out the same day in the evening. Tech called when he was 5 mins out so we knew he was on the way. Also we could put our dogs up. The service charge wasn't expensive like some other places. They also come out and fixed our fridge that was leaking water. Neither one has given us any problems since being repaired bet these guys. I currently have a post on the BBB site as well. I also have a lawyer involved. Bottom line - I should have read some of the posts on here before purchasing an entire LG Stainless Suite - New scratch/dent. This suite was purchased back in January 2019. I have endured the same issues as others on this post. Upon connecting / plugging up the Microwave and Fridge - issues were noticed. Microwave non-operational .. light would remained on.. therefore the microwave assumes it is already in operation. Internet states it is a faulty door switch. The fridge has a code on the digital display which indicates an issue with the circuit board and it is leaking water from the plumbing connection. There is no way - you do not know there is an issue with these items. I was able to reach someone after many attempts. We set a date for 3/16/19 noone showed up ,,nor did anyone call. I opened a case with my Credit Card Company 3xs - because each time this company stated that I have provided them with the wrong contact information and they are willing to exchange the fridge not the microwave. I finally broke thru all the full-voice mail boxes and reached someone. A shouting match ensued. I sent a letter on 8/16 .. did not receive a call back until 9/6. I was promised pictures of a replacement and they would setup a delivery - if I agree. I have not received any correspondence to date. My lawyer sent a letter on 9/6 - no response. I sent an email on 9/9 - no response. They have responded to the BBB with the same reply - bad customer contact information. Seems like their go to tactic. They have my phone number, email address as well as my lawyer's information. I will exhaust all means before allowing anyone to carry out a fraud. I SHOULD HAVE READ YELP FIRST! read more

Good Washer for a good price, delivery experience was very poor. They called me at 12:00 and told me they were loading the appliance on the truck and would be there within and hour, hour and a half at the latest. I told them I would leave work now and would be there by 12:30 which I was. They showed up at 3! I called at 1:30 and they said they were just leaving springfield and would be there in 20 minutes an hour and a half later they were there. Then after trying for about 3 minutes they told me my old hose/pipe connection were too old and they could only hook up the cold water and that i'd have to call a plumber. Then they left. I was able to remove the old hose from the pipe that was too stuck in about 15 minutes with a little WD-40 and some elbow grease. I should have skipped the delivery and I will next time. read more

Late last year I purchased an allegedly new LG refrigerator from this owner. A few months later the refrigerator started emitting a strange smell from the water dispenser. I contacted the store several times before they sent anyone out. To make sure it was not my fault I placed an inline water filter outside the refrigerator, installed a whole house filter and had a plumber investigate. The plumber stated the problem was with the refrigerator as I had told this company many times over. I had a GE Monogram refrigerator for 15 years here and I NEVER had this problem. The company said they would replace the refrigerator but not refund my money. Oh, even their own technician came out and stated I needed a new refrigerator and that the owner would willingly replace it. I went over to their company in Temple Hills a few times after being told to come out to find nothing comparable. I've sent dozens of texts to their phone only to be ignored. For several months I have had to buy ice to place in the ice maker. I have been very patient with them. I've warned them a week ago that I will contact I will be contacting the following news agencies: WUSA Call for Action, ABC 7 WJLA - 7 On Your Side, and 4 Washington Responds. If I could give them a 0 stars I would. We bought a dryer from them with warranty, delivery and installation. A delivery/installation person was very unprofessional. The installation was slappy and far from the standards. Their warranty is written in a way they are barely responsible for anything. The dryer stopped working right after the company representative left. That was our first time shopping at "Better Appliances" and the last one. Very disappointing. They agreed to refund the money and pick up the dryer the next day but did not specify a delivery time. "sometimes tomorrow" was their answer. Please see update that follows. The owner contacted me and my issues have been resolved. 12/31/2016: Wish I could say I had a good experience, but nope, can't do it. They gave me a very fair price for a stackable washer/dryer unit, but the day of delivery was a disaster. I fortunately decided to call half way through the day to check in on the status of everything, and from that point on the day went downhill fast. Delivery had been scheduled for between 11-4. But apparently there was a mix-up and my unit wasn't scheduled to be delivered at all and no one was going to call me to even let me know. AND that's my biggest gripe right there. I realize mix-ups occasionally happen, BUT they should have let me know! I'm annoyed that NO ONE bothered to call me about it. Thanks for nothing! Finally when I discovered the problem they said they could find someone to deliver and install the unit between 5-7 pm. Well, that really wasn't acceptable as I had other plans, but since I didn't want them to ruin a whole 'nother day of mine I finally gave in and said they could deliver in the evening. I cancelled my other plans. So the delivery/installation guy finally arrived AFTER 7 pm. And then sees my rigid metal dryer duct and promptly tells me he doesn't have the tools to install it. WHAT? The sales guy said the installation guy does this stuff "all the time" and would be able to install it. And really that's what I would expect to. I would not expect an washer/dryer installation tech to install ONLY foil dryer ducts? I mean really! So I call the Better Appliance store because I find this unacceptable and hmmm, funny, they aren't answering the phone. But really, what am I to do? Send the tech away and go through this entire nightmare again another day? I realize I have no choice but to take the installation tech to Home Depot and buy the tool and supplies he needs so he's able to install the duct. He clearly had no intention of buying them. He didn't even seem clear as to what he needed. Gosh. I thought I already paid an installation fee, but there I was dishing out more money. Finally at 10 pm, the technician left. 10 pm!!!!!!! And I'm really not entirely convinced the duct is installed all that well, but at 10 pm at night, I wanted to be done with all of it for the day. Update 1/07/2017: The day after delivery the owner contacted me and apologized for the delivery and installation problems. He gave me a refund on a portion of the delivery/installation fee. I definitely appreciated his efforts to make things right. Well, the day after I spoke with him (New Year's Day) I went to use the new washer/dryer unit for the first time after the installer and I tested it, and it wouldn't work. The washer wouldn't fill the drum. Now I was truly upset especially since I bought a brand new unit (open-box) and it now apparently wasn't working. I left a message for the owner and asked him to send a technician out the next day to look at it. I didn't expect anyone to come out on a holiday. But much to the owner's credit he had a repair technician out to look at the unit that very same day! That was truly impressive and appreciated. I highly doubt that Home Depot or Lowe's would have given me that kind of service. The unit had a bad part, and the technician was able to replace it on the spot, and I was able to wash clothes that evening. So, I must commend the owner for his responsiveness to the immediate follow-up problem that occurred with the new unit. He didn't hesitate to get it resolved and he did it on a holiday no less. Although my delivery, install and new appliance experience with Better Appliance has not been particularly smooth, I have to say that the owner has addressed all my concerns and complaints, and I am satisfied with the outcome. Because of his efforts, I may consider future appliance purchases at Better Appliance. But I will most definitely call the day before to be certain that delivery and installation arrangements have been properly coordinated! read more

Have no problem purchasing a used/slightly damaged item. However customer service has been terrible and we have been patient. The purchase and original delivery was fine but within a week the washing machine stopped working. We have a 1 year warranty and they told us instead of fixing they would replace. Took several weeks and then they brought out a different machine with no warning, no paperwork, NOTHING. We rejected this and they left with that machine and the broken one. We finally spoke to someone, agreed on a replacement and another week and a half have gone by with still no delivery. We made the purchase in July. No washing machine for months for a family of 6. I'm trying to be patient and let my husband handle this but not for much longer. This cant be legal. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but have experienced poor, shady, customer dealings. Maybe they are trying to run out the warranty. Sad situation. read more

Prices were cheap, but I wouldn't shop there again. The delivery person damaged each of the three appliances I purchased (dents, dings, and a large scratch in a stainless steel handle). Additionally, the control panel of the washer was broken, the felt belt in the dryer need to be replaced within a month, and the gas range works only intermittently. All in all, the sales person seemed helpful while I was at the store, but I was very disappointed with the quality of appliances as delivered. read more

I have had three experiences with Better Appliance. When I first brought my home in 2012 I needed a washer, dryer, over the counter microwave and dishwasher. I lucked up on this place by going to the Family Dollar in the same complex. The salesman greeted me with a smile and offered assistance if needed. I was able to look around and was able to find my washer, dryer and microwave. I was so pleased I returned for my stove as well. My dryer, stove and microwave is still standing but I did have to replace the washer in 2014. Not too bad for used. Since I was satisfied I ended replacing the washer from them as well. My third experience with them was not a pleasant one. I had just lost my mom and the stove in her home. Abdul offered his condolences and assisted me in purchasing a stove. Even when the grates went missing he gave me replacements free of charge. What great customer service. I will be using their business again. Very friendly, convenient and cost effective. read more

So I went back to the Alexandria store on Sunday and it was easy to exchange the Maytag washer that broke in less than 2 days of use. It was a no money back I chose a Whirlpool Gold Commercial Quality washer. They said the washer was $25.00 more than the Maytag but they did an even exchange since I made them aware that I came all the way from Shenandoah Valley which was nice. So far the Whirlpool works great. It has a lot of features the other one didn't have. I just hope the Whirlpool doesn't break. I'm hoping the Maytag was just an unlucky mishap.
