Very bad experience! Do NOT use this business. I took my chainsaw here because it would not start. They called me a week or two later to pick it up. I brought it home. When I went to use it, I started it up and smoke and oil was seeping out the side. I opened up the unit and noticed a number of parts missing. I took it back to the shop and the guy tells me that someone must have stolen the parts out of the chainsaw in my house and he had nothing to do with it. So, he thinks that someone came into my house and instead of just stealing the whole chainsaw, they opened up the chainsaw and stole only specific parts that are hard to get off. Then they put everything back together again. What a joke. This is just completely dishonest. Stay far away. read more

Managed to cause a problem with my mower - a belt was damaged when I ran it into a large stone that I didn't see and banged up the pully disk and the belt. Motor ran but wheels wouldn't. JTS did the repair and spotted another issue which they fixed as well. The move the mower to and fro and fix it up. It is about 30 years old. They also fix powered chain tools. Very unhappy I asked to look at a piece of equipment he let me see it I decided I did not want it because for used equipment it's very pricy and then he started screaming and cussing at me saying I'm a waste of time and a customer I asked to see one more thing and he said I am not aloud to look at it and he would not sell to me then he tried to push me out of his shop and he screamed at my employee and me he lied about some of his products and over charges never been so displeased in my life read more

I've taken two different mowers for tuneups, and was pleased with the service on both of them. One of them (taken in a few years ago) wasn't starting up easily and wasn't running smoothly. The other (just picked up last week), wasn't running smoothly, and the exhaust was making quite the stench. Both worked perfectly after the tune up. read more

I am in shocked that I see so many good reviews for this store, from my experience worst customer service ever! Not only they misplaced my blower and taking 30 minutes to find it they didn't even had a chance to look at it. The owner told me in one week the job will be done, came back one week later and it not even finished yet! Which makes sense since they lost my blower how can they fix it right? Never coming back to this location. Could of just brought a new blower sure would of saved me some trouble. read more

I got my lawn mower fixed here. It was fairly resonable. They have lot's of mower parts availible. They are friendly and yes, this is probably as good as it gets in the world of small engine repair. I would do cartwheels in celebration of it's existance if I were more expressive. read more

Propane refill still under 20 bucks. I also noticed that they do snowblower repair. Apparently, a lot of it too. Good to know when all the snowblowers bought this year, sit in their respective garages next year due to what I anticipate to be a snowless season. This place use to be great, but has become very expensive and they do not communicate with you. I dropped off a mower and specifically said that if more work was needed other than the 1 wheel that I knew was bad to call me before doing anything more. They went ahead and ordered a second wheel and the bill is now $50 more than what I was quoted. Additionally, they told me it has, "been done" but nobody ever called to say it was done. Two summers in a row now I have sunk over $100 into a mower that is only worth $100. I am not a happy camper right now. read more

I have an Ariens 520 snowblower that I purchased new back during the December blizzard of 2009. Last season it started running rich (could smell it in the exhaust), was hard to start, and had no power. I took it up to JT Mower in Annandale (I've used them for mower tune-ups for decades) to have them fix it but was told that it had no compression and was beyond repair. I just couldn't believe that was true as it was only 2 years old. To their credit, they did not charge me for looking at it. Came back home and did a Google search for lawnmower repair centers and found Burke's Lawnmower Repair (which is really in Newington). They had a handful of reviews, all favorable so I gave them a call. Spoke with the owner, Ernesto, and explained the problem. Ernesto seemed confident that it could be repaired and said to bring it down for a free estimate. It was MLK day 2012 when I took it down. Ernesto had gone on an errand so I dropped it off with his assitant, Tarrcyk. Very nice guy and very helpful. Later that day, Ernesto called back with a preliminary estimate. My concern was that I didn't want to spend the money if it could not be fixed or wasn't going to run correctly. Ernesto assured me it could be fixed and said that it would be warranted through the remainder of the season so I told him to proceed. On Wednesday I had a voice message on my cell from Ernesto saying the blower was ready for pickup. I swung by the shop on Sunday to pick it up. Ernesto was again out on an errand, however, Tarrcyk was there and took care of me. The blower started on the first pull and ran like a top. No rich running smell from the exhaust. We'll have to see how it does under load during the first snow (of course, now that I've had it fixed we won't get any measurable snow). I settled my bill with Tarrcyk and he helped my load it in my van. Overall excellent experience with Burke's Lawn Mower Repair. They are not authorized service center and will use parts laying around which may have come off of other power equipment. I took my Honda lawnmower in for carberateur service because it was running poorly. When I got it back, it ran just as poorly and they didn't even replace the carberateur gaskets! I took it my chainsaw blades for sharpening. They were returned sharp, but overground. If you want cheap, you get cheap. read more

I started having problems with my Honda mower. I am somewhat familiar with small engines as I used to repair them in the 1970s. I am far too busy to have repaired it myself, and I also like to support small businesses in my local community. I took it to JTs and told him that the problem seem electrical and I told him to please check out the coil. He said " probably carbuerator". When I picked it up a week later I was surprised when he told me that he rebuilt the carb. Took it home and tried to mow the lawn. Same exact problem. Took it back and he would not accept the fact that maybe he was wrong. He became almost angry. I gave him a second chance to repair the mower. One week later same problem. After paying him $120, I took it apart myself and found a broken coil wire. Repaired it and mower now works great. Thanks, JT! You ripped me off for $120. JT also has poor customer communication issues. read more
