I find myself wanting to move, and enjoying day to day opportunities to walk, to balance, to stretch. I found that taking a class of hers once a week was so great that I wanted more. And, whatever else is happening in my life, I attend her classes. This is the first fitness program that I don't make myself go to. I want to go, and wake up excited for the next thing I'll learn. She has always personalized things to my level, and always struck just the right balance in encouraging me to stretch a bit beyond my current comfort zone while honoring my body's current limitations. Even if if I start out limited in my ability to do a particular exercise, she always makes it clear that these limitations will fade as I continue to train. And she's always right. She expresses faith in my continued ability to improve, which makes me strive harder. Something about her groups: These are the most encouraging workout groups I've ever been a part of. Most classes at most fitness centers, I wouldn't attend, because most "fitness moves" don't flow intuitively for me. They take effort, and I tend to need patient coaching with repetition until I "get it". Jess' groups give me the guidance and support I need. I risk more, I laugh a lot, I sweat more than I'd expect -- and the people in the group are always encouraging -- even if something takes me three times as long to complete as it does anyone else. Some of this is due to the wonderful people in her groups, and some of it is due to the fun, noncompetitive, and even playful environment that Jess fosters. It's this environment and this coaching that have allowed me to improve and to increase my movement capabilities so rapidly. It's safe to not get it right the first time; it's safe to say, "I don't understand; can you help me?" And it's a part of the fun to keep trying until I get there. I've never giggled so much in a workout, or improved so quickly! You know how little kids are always finding ways to move, how they don't easily "sit still" or just walk as a means to an end? Rather than seeing them simply walk you'll see them twirl, climb, dance, jump. Since working with Jess, I feel like one of those kids -- looking for new ways to move, to balance, to climb, and enjoying finding and learning new ways to move. I'm very impressed with Jess - her ability to affirm and train people, from beginners to experienced athletes, is something I haven't seen before. I feel like I have an ally in my movement and my movement goals now -- an ally in both Jess herself and the great groups she leads.

They have classes based on pole tricks, workout, flexibility, handstands, men's club and exotic. My boyfriend and I do the tricks, workout and handstands together - it really is a good workout. You will leave their classes really sore, and you don't need to be flexible or coordinated to do it! If you saw us a year ago, we could not do ANY of the tricks they taught us and we are pretty good now. On the other hand with exotic classes, they are so friendly and welcoming! Everyone will wear their heels, sexier clothes (from just fitted shirts to fishnet tights) and they dim the lights for more ambiance. It's so fun and they go through part of dance routines step by step slowly and you can ask questions. At the end you have opportunity to record yourself for progress or just flow with the music. I recommend you try it at least once!

Thereafter, she video joined me in my apartment in the Bay Area for 1:1 training. She was great at adapting to not only my current state of fitness but also in the equipment I did/didn't have on hand and my space. I also suffered an injury at a certain point during our training, and she was so great in finding ways I could still push myself while giving body parts time to heal. If you're someone who wants to be challenged, Kristin is for you. I have worked out regularly previously, but I felt sore in so many new ways with Kristin. She really got me to challenge myself in l ways different than I had previously experienced. She introduced me to muscle groups I thought I knew but didn't. I loved that she would get specific about which areas (medial triceps vs triceps) we were targeting and where, so I could really focus on ensuring I felt the movements. She was also really flexible around my crazy work schedule and held me accountable to making sure we got in the number of workouts with her I told her I wanted to consistently hit. I don't know what it is, but I have never been a big fan of Kents Trail for biking. This is a…read moretwo-way trail that parallels Bens trail in the Phil's Trailhead system. It has some elevation gain and loss, but mostly downhill to Phil's Trailhead. The trail starts at road three hundred and ends at Phil's Trailhead. It is one of the lower elevation trails, so it typically is one of the first to thaw. This is a pretty good trail for beginners, so if you have a friend that's learning bring them here and do a loop down Phil's Trail or up from Bens. Just remember to stop for uphill climbers. The last section of this trail (by the trailhead) I admit is pretty fun and somewhat fast, but you do have to watch out for uphill traffic going down. If you like flow and speed, I highly recommend trying out Phil's Trail or the Lower Whoops. But this is a great alternative for those mellow days. Anytime I have a friend that wants to learn to mountain bike, I take them to Marvins Garden Trail…read more This trail starts at Phil's Trailhead and ends at the COD Trail. If you really want to inspire yourself or a friend take them to the Lair and witness some gnarly jumps. I pee a little in my pants everytime I look at them. A good portion of the trail has some gradual elevation gain and loss that makes it rideable in the uphill and fun and fast in the downhill. I often fantasize about the Star Wars speeder bike scene when I am the ripping downhill on this section. This is a two lane trial and makes sure you stop for the uphill riders. There are a few jeep roads that cross paths with this trail that give you some options if you're needing a break from the singletrack for some reason. Lastly, there is a steep section in the middle of this trail that will have you huffing and puffing, but you make it, it has one of the best views of Bend from any other mountain bike trail. Overall, if you are looking for a short little exciting ride or have a friend who wants a proper intro to the Phil's Trailhead system, check this trail out for sure. However, if your looking for speed or berms you may want to try out some of the other trails that Central Oregon has for you.
