The Better Business Bureau helped me when I was unable to resolve an issue on my own, after months of dedicating my time and sanity to the same situation. They helped after I gave every detail of my agonizing affair with a company. I was thorough, as were they. Following through was very important. They were not professional, did hasty work, left footprints, and damaged existing perfectly fine concrete. Camas, Taylor and a few other employees in this building helped me out with an issue that I had with T-Mobile. Camas was away at one point though and another individual whose vibe I did not like at all on the phone and she to me seemed cold and nasty and simply said, "Sorry I'm closing this case now." This was on Thursday 1-17-18. I wasn't impressed with this person at all. The whole point of me calling and having spent a long time with the BBB on this particular case was to keep it reopened. Kay was wonderful in helping with my review on Done Right Labor. I was not able to respond before the case was closed. I called and spoke to Kay explaining my circumstances of why I could not respond. She was able to reopen the case for me to respond to the case. From what I have read in the above, I need say no more. After trying to get some resolution with Rich's Car Corner who sold me a car with "stop leak" that blew up a week later it has become clear to me that they are business, not consumer-oriented. They put my complaint down as resolved despite the fact that there was no substantive attempt by RCC to resolve the complaint for a clearly unethical practice. I gave them the name of the mechanic who found the stop leak slopped all over the car. BBB never checked that avenue. Check out RCC... surprise, they still have an A+ rating and no details concerning any complaints that have been "closed". I dare anyone to buy a car from those f'ers. Very disappointed. Looking for a legal basis to file in small claims court. Bottom line THE BBB REPRESENTS THE BUSINESS NOT THE CONSUMER! I love Yelp reviews. I really do. But you gotta realize -- and I'm sure most people do -- that some of those 1 stars are from reviewers with an axe to grind. So where do you go for more free reviews? Google, check. Yelp competitors, (*GGUUHK*), check. Angie's list? Maybe, but why the hell would you pay for her collected reviews? And why pay to contribute to her short pile of reviews? Who do you trust? They also track complaints, track outcomes of those complaints, and -- best of all -- serve as mediators if you have that axe to grind. Forget bars / restaurants, though. I bought a pair of Michael Kors shoes in Oct. 2017 , I got sick so I was laid up for two months , in January 2018 I was so excited to get to wear them . They were Awesome. After about 2-3 weeks after I wore them the sides of the shoes started peeling off. I called the office . I was told that they couldn't help , I was told it was over the 90 days ? I told them that I could get proof of my disability. No ! after all this it was very frustrating and months of going thru this . So I was in the Mall where I bought them ,I stopped in and talked to a salesperson,she said I'll get the manager. She came out and I explained once again. She told me No!very rude ,like I was someone off the streets. I wasn't feeling good that day so maybe I didn't look my best ( does that matter) customers were listening,I was very embarrassed. Ok now it is June 6th and every time I look at those shoes I get very upset. I called another number which is suppose to be M.K. Michael Kors, I repeated the same story, mind you I'm still receiving ads from them .he said he was sorry that it was passed the 90 days. Now if I had a business like this and my item was bad , I'd return it and get them a new item. So the little people aren't worth that . I'm appalled at the way this was handled from the beginning to now.....you can tell by just looking at them , that they haven't been worn much, they look brand new. BBB is nothing short of great! I paid for a class that I had to cancel, which I felt OK about since on their website was a cancellation policy stating that if cancellation was 5 days in advance, a full refund would be given. I cancelled about a month in advance, but getting that money back proved extremely difficult. I called numerous times, and visited the shop, but evasive answers were all I got. I didn't know who could help me with this, but when I emailed the BBB to see if this was something they could handle, they said yes. This is the BBB location that handles complaints against amazon.com. Amazon has 13,432 complaints closed in last 3 years by this BBB, 5,387 complaints closed in last 12 months as of today, 11/6/2019. And an average of 1248 Customer Reviews for a 1.1 star rating. Yet this BBB gives amazon.com an "A-" rating! The BBB calls amazon an "accredited" business. I am a general contractor and I'm fair and honest, almost too fair. I know of contractors and businesses who intentionally rip people off because they use the A+ rating from the BBB to con consumers into thinking they are honest and fair. I called the BBB to report these guys and they say, If you're not the consumer there's nothing we can do. Even if you do call in as the consumer the business owner can easily get that bad review turned into an A+. If you start a business you automatically get an A+ rating from the BBB, you don't even have to know what your doing. Beware, beware, beware of businesses that have BBB stickers plastered on their trucks and businesses, many use that to get their foot in the door to rip you off. read more

BBB helps when other options just do not. They are mediators and sometimes you need a mediator. For example, try emailing Amazon or PayPal. All you get is auto responses and no real interaction or resolution, no thinking outside of the box. With BBB you can check an option that you will speak to the media. I believe that helps. Sometimes, it takes some going back and forth, but if I persevere, BBB comes through with a resolution in my favor. It has happened on numerous occasions. read more

My reason for contacting the BBB in the PNW was to have on record the very serious issue we had with a local computer repair business in our area. I was very happy with how quickly this NW Branch responded to my complaint. Although I do not feel I recieved the result I was hoping for, and I do not believe the BBB understood the seriousness of the problem I had. They are at the very least aware of this company. If I can even call it a business. Now other consumers can check with the BBB on this said company for any complaints and the BBB rating. It looks like small claims court is our next step. read more

Posting a negative report on the BBB site helped me get my money back from a deceptive company.

I really don't understand the point of the BBB. I filed a complaint with them on Jimmy Z Appliances and I saw that thisbusiness had well over 20 complaints filed against them and were not properly licensed. I submitted my complaint which they forwarded to the business so that they could respond. The owner, Nikki responded with her usual "charm" and then nothing really happened. I emailed the BBB about the fact that this business had so many complaints filed against them on everything ranging from credit card fraud to non delivery of services. I asked them what they do about an obviously unreputable business and if they contact the attorney general's office. Someone replied and said that it was a good idea and that I should do it myself. Their website is useful for looking up potentially bad businesses to avoid and I wish I had done that before I hired Jimmy Z, but other than that, I don't see the point of whatever this entity is. read more

As a business owner I can assure you that the BBB of Spokane gives preferential treatment to those that pay for their service enhancements. My shop was falsely accused of installing the wrong cylinder head and timing belt on an engine ( like that is possible or worth the extra hours and hours on any car built in the past two decades) We went to arbitration and the dim-bulb mediator with no automotive background ruled against us based on an opinion not based in fact. We now carry a F rating with BBB because we refused to pay for this injustice. Meanwhile the complaining party continues to rack up thousands of trouble free miles as a result of our repairs. read more

BBB called repeatedly until I finally called back. They wanted over $500 from my business. I did not go for it and now my business has an F rating. The rating they claim is due to repeated attempts to clarify our warranty. They NEVER contacted me about warranty and my warranty is clearly stated on each and every proposal. Look at other reviews say. This BBB has low rating among BBB branches. When a complaint is filed, the staff opens a messaging website. Each side writes two messages. The staff does nothing. I get frustrated with my questions unanswered. The staff just says, "I understand you are unsatisfied (but I will not hear you) and I will close this. It will show up as the case closed satisfactorily." It does not make any sense. The staff just opens a site and closes it. This is the main problem with this BBB. Elaine is horrible. read more

The BBB ratings are very misleading in some cases. For example Cascade Design/Build has 3 reviews on yelp.com mine, jill P. and Satoko P. All three rate this company a 1Star. The BBB however rates this company an A+ . This type of rating system is not helpful in any way to the consumer. read more

Better business is for businesses to look good. They do not report the negative feed back consumers have about a company because if they did the company who is paying for BBB membership would stop paying being a member and BBB would no longer make money. Nothing but great success with BBB. Reaffirms my faith in the power of a public consumer complaint bureau to act as an Ombudsmen of sorts for the general public against large conglomerate companies. We had a dispute with wireless provider T-MOBILE starting Sept 8 2017, which was being ignored and mishandled by T-Mobile's rebate promotion department and their reps for over 4 months?! Calls, letters. After feeling helpless, going back and forth; as a last and final resort, we reached out and posted a complaint via BBB. This was to be our final resort before looking to go to claims / civil court and file a case. We were extremely happy, satisfied and 'faith in consumer rights' reaffirmed when BBB followed up immediately and forwarded complaint to appropriate depts. at T-Mobile. Had a representative from the company's / T-Mobile's corporate division / Office of the President reach out immediately to try to provide a satisfactory resolution to our case. It is a SAD STATE of AFFAIRS and ironic that AMERICAN Corporates /Companies only wake up and take action towards their CSR when their public image and reputation is at stake?! if only they had resolved it right at the beginning with better knowledge, judgement and what action to take, as well as training of their internal employees in the specific Rebate and Promotions dept. (which was absolutely incompetent and provided misleading and false information), this headache could have been avoided?! Thankfully, BBB was able to fight our case to T-Mobile and get us the resolution we were looking for and that was ours legally and rightfully looking for. We need organizations like BBB to champion consumer rights and provide a public avenue for Customer complaints against large corporate businesses. we are very grateful to BBB for helping get our money back from T-Mobile! read more

The BBB is a biased a non credited entity. All they list are complaints, not anything that is good about a company or service. If you have a company that deals with hundreds and hundreds of customers a month and you receive two complaints they challenge you to provide information because there's a pattern of consumer issues according to their standards. They don't take into account the customer is not always right, they go by the amount of customers complaining. I have dealt with customers abusing products and want repairs or money back. If the customer simply doesn't get what they ask for they complain to the BBB and the BBB assumes the business is not doing anything, just that there are complaints. Anyone who uses the BBB as a guide to use or buy a service or product is getting very poor quality information based on only a few individuals who didn't get their way. read more
