We requested a very light trim and no shampoo or anything else. P First, our appointment was originally scheduled for last Friday at 4:30pm, however about 2 hours before my kiddo's appointment, I received a phone call from Hairy Elephant requesting to cancel and reschedule my child's appointment. The reason I was given for the cancellation was because there were no other appointments scheduled for the afternoon before my child's 4:30pm... I was obviously frustrated because I already had called off work early so that I could take my daughter to get haircut, but I told them we could reschedule for the following Friday instead. Fast forward to her appointment this Friday... we show up, and we're not even there for 10 minutes before we were told that the person cutting her hair was unable to complete the haircut because she didn't have enough time to cut "ethnic hair." My jaw dropped and we quickly left and will not be returning. I would not recommend anyone with a child on the spectrum or a Black child to ever go near this place. Not only are the staff not accommodating to kids on the spectrum, they are uneducated when it comes to how to cut hair that isn't straight and white. 0/10 experience.

Ok, let me start by saying that I didn't even know about this place until I wanted my hair colored…read more My loction recommended a young lady that works there. However, she was booked. But being a former soldier, I was not about to give up. I waited until, I couldn't wait any longer and gave it one more shot. And lo and behold, the young lady that answered the phone told me that she would color my locs for me. To say I was elated would be an under statement. I get there and was greeted like I had been there a thousand times. Then I was informed that the young lady I talked to on the phone was/is the owner Mrs. Vickie and coloring is not her specialty but that she had been an instructor at our local cosmetology school, I felt a lot better. But still coloring is for a while. Lol. And then I realized that coloring locs is a real job. I won't get into all the technical stuff, but just know I wasn't ready. Lol. So it's finally done, and at first, I was shocked the person looking back at me was someone else (the whole purpose of a dye job! Lol) It took me a couple days, but everyone else I came across wanted to know "Who colored my locs? Or where did I get that done in this area?"
