One evening waiting for a table a a nearby restaurant I visited and found LP's and CD's of a vast collection. You will also find turn tables and receivers. Fun place to find vintage music and accessories. Friendly staff. Limited street parking. There is lot parking in back.

I used to collect Vinyl, and even though I have shifted on to Spotify, I still like to browse and see what old, classic albums I can find. Especially for gifts! I could see how Better Days could easily be a collector's heaven. They have such a huge selection! Everything seems to be organized nicely, too. I was surprised to see some newer albums on vinyl, which adds even more to what you may find. Aside from vinyls you can also find TONS of CDs, some dvds and a small selection of old action figures. The men in the store were really nice and helpful! Better Days makes an easy recommendation to all you music lovers out there.

After trying just about every record store in town I think I've settle into Better Days being the one I'll frequent. For Christmas my wife got me a $50 gift certificate for Better Days (I'm a DJ and routinely use vinyl for my live shows), so I was anxious to see what I could get for the $50. On this particular trip I was only interested in 12" Singles and I was delighted to see such a huge collection of them. The 12" singles are in crates on the floor, maybe about a dozen of them, lining the floor along two walls. If I was to voice one complaint about this store, it's that it's pretty uncomfortable sitting on the floor going through them, but that's not going to stop me from my vinyl perusal. The gentleman working that day offered a stool to make it more comfortable, but the area isn't large enough to where that would have helped, but at least he offered. The store has an amazing stock. Records and CDs line the walls and are pretty logically arranged. The wall behind the counter displays some of the higher ticket and more unique items. Music is constantly being played overhead while you shop. The store on this Saturday evening was steadily busy, with at last a dozen other people coming in going during the time we were shopping. The music is broken down by media type first (CD, vinyl), and then into categories. From the couple visits I've made, they tend to be pretty organized and, if not in absolute alphabetical order, are at least found in the correct letter section for that category. The pricing was very reasonable on everything I looked at and nothing was ridiculous. Even brand new vinyl was less than you'd see at, say, Barnes & Nobles. After spending about two hours going through the 12" singles, I ended up paring it from 32 down to 23. When I got home and auditioned them, they were all remarkably clean with only a couple showing any signs of previous play. I was very happy with the shopping experience and with the merchandise, and I got out of there spending nearly $90 of that $50 gift certificate. :)

This place is legit, man. I have to admit my concern - Every time I go in this place, the same guy is working. Last time I was there, I asked him if he was the owner. He said no. He must live there, then. Nicest guy ever, though. And knows his stuff. My wife got a turntable for Christmas. She has been looking for record stores ever since. We've been a few places around the city, but this one is probably our favorite. They have a really extensive collection of vinyl. Bigger than most other places that I've been. As well, they have $1 bins that sit underneath the displays that you can root through if you desire. This is my wife's go-to. She is a frugal person and wants cheap records. Typically, the $1 bin is for the records they have just received from people that have donated, or they are just trashy, terrible albums. But you'll find some good stuff if you have the patience. My wife found an ABBA album that made her pretty happy. The same album was in the catalog for like $5. She got it $4 cheaper, because she rooted through the $1 bins. If vinyl isn't your thing, they have CDs (new and used). I picked up Pearl Jam's Vs. the other day for $5. Just so I could have it in my truck. Good CD to just have in your CD player at all times, and for $5. All of their used CDs are guaranteed. They guarantee it if it skips or if it has scratches or whatever. So go with used. Need records? Better Days is your place. You're welcome. *Z Snap*

This store is pretty cool, and the owner is a nice guy who gave me helpful suggestions as to other stores and restaurants. Didn't find much Punk but I did find this Soul Radics gem for $10

I was told by a friend of mine about Great Escape as a store in Louisville that I should certainly check out and well, after taking a trip recently, I absolutely agree. Great Escape is a store that might be a bit of a sensory overload for you if you're the kind of nerd like I am that also has a fine appreciation for vinyl as well as comics and even classic video games. Vintage shops are some of my favorite places to check out and Great Escape is now my go-to place for such items. Upon entering, you will immediately take a trip to wherever your nerdy imagination desires whether it be heading towards their insanely impressive collection of Star Wars toys or the amazing display of vintage vinyl records and music on a variety of other platforms. Great Escape also has a great selection of video games from just about any era of gaming from Atari all the way to the current generation of gaming which as a video game collector certainly was pleasing. The assortment of comics will keep you here flipping through them for hours as Great Escape has a number of classic stories that should please any comic book fan and what's even more impressive is the prices are extremely reasonable from discounts on graphic novels to a $.99 section of comics which provides a wide assortment that any fan, young or old, can appreciate. If you are looking for the place to shop for vintage comics, movies, music and more, look no further than the Great Escape as it will captivate you with the sheer amount of treasures you will find and even some you didn't know you wanted.

For nearly 30 years me and my friends have jokingly referred to the "LP Prison" maintained by…read moreElectric Ladyland, which consisted of records that the proprietor decided at some point were "rare" or unusual and which were then assigned circa 1985 peak prices and placed far from customers behind a very tall counter along several of the establishment's inner walls. For the most part, the imprisoned LPs have remained there untouched as time passed. As you might imagine, in several decades' some of those records became worthless with respect to the peak sticker price, while still others became far more valuable with respect to the old sticker price. Nowadays, the business is being run by several young women who're trying to update the store in many ways (it's safe to say that the majority of business here in recent years is from the "head shop/smoke shop" aspect that the business always had). As part of the new moves at E.L., I am happy to report that "LP Prison" has been busted open wide and the formerly untouchable vinyl is now liberated into a large bin on the Bardstown Road side window. I bought nearly all the really good stuff (having spent close to $500 on two recent lazy Memorial Day weekend afternoons). However, there are still a lot of decent LPs that I already have and/or don't care to own...and these records are nearly almost all in near-mint condition. VERY PLAYABLE! Rush over there now and stock up. Also, about those prices. I was jesting about them being priced in 1985 but suffice to say it's been a while. As such, prices are VERY soft on records now and you need only utter the word "discount" to get a steep bargain. If a record seems really overpriced, recommend you look it up on Discogs and with your research in hand make an offer based on the evidence. Welcome back, Electric Ladyland! I have hopes that you'll keep moving into the right direction and my regular stops will continue to help me build the best collection possible.

We went in after an early lunch at nearby Twig and Leaf. There is private and street parking, we were able to park in the parking lot beings it wasn't very busy. Going in, it is actually mostly a smoke shop with old used records as well as some other things in there. We did browse around for a bit but, left empty handed beings somethings were overpriced. Did like the smell of the incense burning inside the place. Although this is a neat little store, it's not a place we'd venture to very often.
