Not exactly sure where to begin with Electric Ladyland. For many years I have passed this place and never really knew what it was until a recent visit with a friend. We went in after an early lunch at nearby Twig and Leaf. There is private and street parking, we were able to park in the parking lot beings it wasn't very busy. Going in, it is actually mostly a smoke shop with old used records as well as some other things in there. We did browse around for a bit but, left empty handed beings somethings were overpriced. Did like the smell of the incense burning inside the place. Although this is a neat little store, it's not a place we'd venture to very often. read more

Their selection of pipes range from $30-150. Bongs $30 if you can find one that cheap but mostly closer to $50-150. Upper end. The girls sit there and talk the whole time I get it who cares. But at the end of the transaction it asks you for a tip. I am so sick of this. Pay your damn workers more instead of relying on the customer to up their pay a couple bucks an hour electric lady land. Panera does this too, and I'm sure nobody tips, because they can't keep workers to save their life. It's not fair to put this awkward transaction on the customer, especially when the workers gossip and talk the whole time. Only come over when you summon them, and go back to talking. Then I'm sure expect a tip and when you don't probably talk shit. Talk shit about your owner not supplementing your income and trying to pass it off on the customers. Get some cheaper basic options. And some of these bongs and pipes just make no sense. You would lean your head over to light your tobacco... and singe your eyebrows off bc the bowl is directly under the mouthpiece. How high was the glass blower? No returns so their bright idea was to sell it to my friend. Cool, $50 I'm going to smash in the back alley to release my anger and tell myself I'm never tipping on these stupid processing apps again. Don't care if people think I'm a millennial bitch... take it up with your boss. read more

I came in earlier last week. I spoke with Jennifer. She was a delight. We discussed an item I was looking for. She took every measure to ensure she would hold up her end of contacting a seller to order the stone peace I needed. As usual as I am a regular customer as of recently the vibes in the space were positive. I felt welcome. I felt at home. We are family now lol. And in particular Jennifer was genuine and sincere. We held a normal conversation about really life and we shared stories and opinions as if we had always been friends. I really appreciate that sense of community. And hats off to you all. Wow I can't believe all the negative reviews. I'm from out of town visiting and wanted to go to all the record and vintage shops on Bardstown Rd. This place really catches the eye inside and out. It looks like a hippie paradise with paintings of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, and The Beatles. The vibe inside just felt great with 90s alternative playing in the back and all the vintage aesthetic to look at. There's a small selection of vinyl records, but I ended up finding some semi-rare music. Posters, incense, patches, stickers, clothing, and-of course- the smoke stuff is all apart of the store. The staff was very friendly to me and even complimented my jacket which was sweet. So I will definitely be coming back to Electric Lady Land soon, and if you want a cool store with all your hippie needs, you should go too. read more

Amazing selection of Delta 8 and glass pipes ! Lots of records to sort through along with CDs and the inside smelled soooo good

I used to liked Electric Ladyland when they were in their old storefront down the street better. For used CDs and records, they are overpriced. Not impressed with the record collection anymore. The record selection seems to be looked over $1 bin records that nobody wants. It was a good place ten years ago and don't see how they can compete with the other used record/cd shops in the area. Maybe they should compare their prices against other stores to see why people don't go there like they used to. A little disappointed that they are now known as more of a head shop than music shop. read more

For nearly 30 years me and my friends have jokingly referred to the "LP Prison" maintained by Electric Ladyland, which consisted of records that the proprietor decided at some point were "rare" or unusual and which were then assigned circa 1985 peak prices and placed far from customers behind a very tall counter along several of the establishment's inner walls. For the most part, the imprisoned LPs have remained there untouched as time passed. As you might imagine, in several decades' some of those records became worthless with respect to the peak sticker price, while still others became far more valuable with respect to the old sticker price. Nowadays, the business is being run by several young women who're trying to update the store in many ways (it's safe to say that the majority of business here in recent years is from the "head shop/smoke shop" aspect that the business always had). As part of the new moves at E.L., I am happy to report that "LP Prison" has been busted open wide and the formerly untouchable vinyl is now liberated into a large bin on the Bardstown Road side window. I bought nearly all the really good stuff (having spent close to $500 on two recent lazy Memorial Day weekend afternoons). However, there are still a lot of decent LPs that I already have and/or don't care to own...and these records are nearly almost all in near-mint condition. VERY PLAYABLE! Rush over there now and stock up. Also, about those prices. I was jesting about them being priced in 1985 but suffice to say it's been a while. As such, prices are VERY soft on records now and you need only utter the word "discount" to get a steep bargain. If a record seems really overpriced, recommend you look it up on Discogs and with your research in hand make an offer based on the evidence. Welcome back, Electric Ladyland! I have hopes that you'll keep moving into the right direction and my regular stops will continue to help me build the best collection possible. read more

Horrible place. VERY unfriendly staff. Used to shop here every time I was in town. Now I just pass it up and go down the street to a better shop. The only reason this place is still open is due to nostalgia. If you chance it and go inside, BEWARE the ladies behind the counter are snooty, rude and not very helpful. read more

electric lady used to be my favorite smoke shop... but then within the last year or so maybe less all the girls in there started acting bitchy and bothered for no reason at all. there's one girl especially who i believe is some sort of management / apart of the leadership at the store and every interaction i've had with her she acts so irritated, like girl if you hate your life so bad at this job please just find a new one. also, their safety measure for the current covid crisis is quite ridiculous as other shoppers who were also in the store with us did not have masks on, and shortly after they left after lingering in the store for a long time, the girl had the audacity to ask someone to leave who wasn't wearing a mask, after she had already breathed in the store for like 10 min already without a mask and there were literally just plenty of other people in the store without a mask. and then their clear plastic protection on the counter that they're so bitchy about you standing exactly behind is so high up that your mouth and potential germs would just go right on through! you'd have to be like 7 foot tall for it to work effectively. lack of consistency with these COVID measures is fine, what's not fine is being a bitch when u choose to rarely enforce them on not a regular basis. gotta find a new regular smoke shop bc the vibes are just not it in there at all read more

How the mighty have fallen. I discovered this place (old location) when I was in high school. From 86 - 89 this place was my Mecca. I went in a few years ago and SWORE i'd never go back. No "hello" or "can I help you?" Old staff would break their back to help you with anything. If you're looking for music go anywhere else. If you need a feathered roach clip, I'm sure they will sell you one. read more

I came in asking about a product I had heard great things about from many people only for the sales associate to scare me into buying something else because he claimed that product I was asking about "wouldn't work, at all." The product he sold me was DOUBLE the price of the original product I was asking about and it ultimately DID NOT work. Avoid this place like the plague, they will rip you off with a smile on their face. I called and explained the situation to the manager and she didn't even offer the slightest apology. Hey now, this is an interesting place with a great selection of plenty of great and fun items - on music, yes the cassette section is still legit for those with original stereo rigs, but a Sadies cd for $8 is a win - movies, tshirts, posters are well worth a look-see, local and Canadian glassware instead of the Chinese stuff that is now sold up and down Bardstown road all of a sudden (unsafe), and the best part is the strange message tour tucked between items that reveals mysteries of the Yaweh-Alien secrets and other strangeness. There are a few other good reasons to shop here over the competition but you will see for yourself when paying a visit. read more

I was just in there a while ago and they have a very nice selection of vinyl. They buy new collections from estates on a continual basis. But that's not all they have. They have a wide selection of glass pipes, smoking accessories, incense, retro lifestyle decorations, and even t-shirts. I love their stickers, some are funny and some are just wild.
