I recently threw my back out. This is not something new, as I usually throw my back out at least…read moreonce every other year. This pain was different, and it wouldn't go away on its own, so I found myself at Next Care one Sunday morning. The front desk staff is really friendly. The girls questioned me on my Virginia license (they're new, and they're horrific) and then set me in front of a kiosk, as the clinic strives to be paper free. That's swell, but the kiosk froze up on me, so the nurse assistant had to go over the same information with me later in the exam room. They have all new equipment at this location, as my blood pressure was taken with a fancy machine, the nurse just stood there and monitored it. There's even a TV in each exam room, mainly because I think they know you'll be sitting in there for a good chunk of your day. That's my only real complaint about Next Care, I was kept waiting for about an hour and ten minutes before I was seen, and then another twenty minutes to get my prescriptions and paperwork. That said, at these sort of places you should expect a wait if you don't get there when they open. They do try to see patients in the order that they arrived, but there were several sick kids in the clinic that morning that got preference over me, which is understandable. No one enjoys toddler meltdowns, and there was a baby howling for his life, so please, do go ahead and go in front of me. When I was finally seen by a PA, he was very friendly and helpful. He told me I should take two hot showers a day and told me what I could and couldn't do for the next couple of weeks. He did seem harried, but that's not surprised. They only have one PA and one doctor on staff most of the time, but I think this is on par for these kind of clinics. So, all in all I would go back to Next Care if I found myself in pain and unable to wait to get in with my primary care doctor. I'd just try and get there right when they open, or they have a service where you can check in online and they'll let you know when they're ready for you. Best of all, they're right next to Salsaritas, so you can grab a delicious lunch or dinner when you finally get out of there!

Everyone at this place is rude and should never work in health care. I along with a couple other people in the waiting room were obviously sick. I do not know if the others waiting had appointments. I was told several times I was next but was constantly watching as kids wanting a school physical and were not sick were being taken back. The receptionist was the worst. An older man walked in and needed help with his check in and using a QR code. The receptionist ignored him. I had to help him. Then another man waiting got up to help him. The receptionist needs to do her job. She also needs to show the same kindness to people no matter what color the patient is. If you want to see how far health care has fallen go to this location. If you want good health care go elsewhere.

Soooooo many bad reviews.. I am sorry that your experiences were not good. I am not one of those…read morepeople. I have had good experiences at this practice. They do a good job despite sillyness no one on the patient side of the counter can ever understand. I have known Blake Johnson since he opened his practice. I was previously at another pediatrician's office which was highly recommended. I moved to this (Children's Clinic) office because that other pediatrician would take at least 2-3 hours for a simple runny nose. Dr. Johnson's office is 1/2 that time at the worst. I have gotten in and out of there in as little as 45 minutes as a walk in. If you expect ANY urgent care clinic to be fast, you should not bother going. We live in an age where electronic medical records have slowed all medical practices to a crawl. They (every practice) spend more time chasing Insurance, Diagnostic codes, Lab results, cross referencing other doctors your kid might be seeing, dealing with incomplete medical records because the parents didn't forward records from the previous doctor, and the list goes on! I think Dr. Johnson's office does a good job at moving folks through as quickly as they can. I can't speak to other people's experiences. Mine has always been good.

While the staff are consistently polite and doing their best, it is clear they are overworked and…read morestretched far beyond what is reasonable. The facility itself does not appear to be equipped to effectively manage the volume or complexity of the patients it accepts, resulting in bottlenecked processes and frequent operational issues. Because of this, scheduling errors are common, leading to long wait times, missed appointments, and appointments being dropped altogether. On average, it takes me four attempts to reach someone by phone. Even then, I am often placed on hold only for the call to disconnect before anyone is able to help. During in-person visits, the staff are constantly rushing from one task to another. While they remain kind and professional, the pace they're forced to maintain makes it nearly impossible to provide the level of timely, quality care that patients deserve. Unfortunately, the quality of the clinical care does not outweigh the consistent disregard for patients' time or the apparent lack of operational organization. My family has been coming to this practice for quite some time, but after repeated experiences like these, we will be looking for alternatives. I would encourage other families to carefully consider whether this practice is meeting their needs as well.

There is one person ahead of you." I told the receptionist that he has COVID and that he needs to be seen QUICKLY, because he can't be sitting in a public waiting room for long (for everyone's safety). She said snidely, "He can wait in the car." Seriously?????? After waiting 30minutes I went back to her and asked nicely how much longer the wait would be. She told me an hour and a half. Meanwhile, SEVERAL people had been taken in ahead of us. I told her again that my husband is running a fever, etc., and she said, "There's nothing I can do about the wait time." Oh, AND my husband is over 50 and diabetic so he REALLY needed some medicine. At that point we left. Have they never heard of the word TRIAGE?? You take the sickest patients in first!!

However, this…read moretime, I am very upset just trying to follow the doctor's orders as the nurses can't seem to get it right. Have pink eye, doctor prescribed eyedrops, stating 2 drops every two hours for two days, then 1 drop every 4 hours for 5 days. My bottle is empty after just three days so I called to get another bottle to continue the treatment as doctor ordered. First call, nurse said they couldn't do anything till doctor came back to work(this being Sunday and he returns Tuesday) She said to reduce the drops to 1 every 4 hours until they can talk to the doctor to make the drops last. So today, Tuesday, I called and I had to talk to another nurse. She really mixed up what I said to her, saying my left eye is all clear(my infected eye). I told her that is not correct, it's better, but I need to continue the eyedrops for another 5 days as the doctor ordered. Then she immediately mixed up the number of days saying 5 days total(supposed to be 7 days). She said she would give my doctor the message. I later get a call back from Patient First, a different nurse, stating since my eye has gotten so much worse, the doctor wants me to return to see him!!!!! I Never said my eye was worse, I said it's getting better but I'm out of the eyedrops. I'm just trying to follow the doctors orders, using the drops for 7 days as prescribed. Now I'm told I have to call back tomorrow. I will continue using Patient First as I have always received the best care there in the past, but this time has been a Frustrating experience.
