I went on Christmas Eve and looking at reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I only had about a 30 minute wait and all the staff from the guy working the front desk to the nurse to the doctor were all so friendly and personable. The service was efficient and thorough. They even called me less than a week later with results. Overall great! read more

I went to bettermed thinking I had a sinus infection, well lo and behold they tested me for Covid to make sure and sure enough I had Covid. I was told several times that I wouldn't be paying anything and that insurance would cover it, they simply need a credit card on file for administrative purposes. 3 weeks later, bam, $200 charge shows up. Not sure if this is normal for urgent cares, but it sure sucks. FWIW the people at this place were quite nice, if I had been at all prepared that a big charge would show up weeks later this might be a 5 star review. read more

I came here only because I was told how great this place was. I went to the website and scheduled an appointment online. I followed the steps in the follow up email to confirm my appointment along with providing identification and insurance information. Somehow, I got deleted from the list for my appointment although I didn't cancel my appointment. No staff would tell me why this happened. It appears that someone messed up bad. They rectified this by taking me ASAP. Nice recover, but I'd love to know who and why you messed up. If I didn't speak up and ask when I was being called, no one would have ever noticed that I had been waiting over 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. The location is conveniently located right off I-64 and I-288 in Short Pump in the Wegmans shopping center. Inside was very clean and neatly organized. The rooms were clean and I could see the table was cleaned before I entered. The staff seemed to be kind and caring minus their earlier mess up. Due to all the mess ups and not wanting to provide why you messed up by deleting my appointment is the reason for the one star rating. Maybe you can redeem yourself at another visit, but I'm not sure if I'd want to come back. Also, their policy of placing your credit card on file, so that they can charge it at their leisure for any charges you may occur isn't a good policy. I like to be able to see my bill and itemization and pay myself. I've had too many incidents where I've provided my credit card and have been double charge. read more

Coming back to post again, based on previous review's promise to report on after-care subsequent to my PCR testing for Covid appointment here. Simon, the PA at this location who spoke with me after Anise, the RN, took vitals and administered the PCR test, had said when he called me with my results that evening, that given my intersecting medical issues - I'm an old, plus I'm dealing with Stage IV cancer recurrence - he was referring me for monoclonal antibody clinical trial. That was a huge win, since I did get enrolled in the trial, and received treatment for Covid, with continuing follow-up for the next year-plus. I'm a health/medicine/science journalist and policy wonk professionally, so observing this experience with my patient-person and professional-wonk-journo lenses gives a lot more context to this review than you'd get from the average-human patient. I've read through the less-than-four-star reviews for this site, and have to say that most of the negatives arise from the way our health system works, not so much from how this individual urgent care is operated. That said, I'll just close with the following: + I'd send myself back to this urgent care any time, based on this experience + I recommend it to anyone in the geo-zone for this BetterMed location + Their EHR tech isn't the Big Kahuna (EPIC Systems), but the Athena EHR they use has a workable portal (too back Athena ain't got a mobile app, but that's not BetterMed's problem to fix) + Get vaxxed/boosted (if you're not already) + Stay masked up outside your home Health/sci journo out. read more

I would give no stars if possible. Worst place ever! I went with a sinus infection and got a broad spectrum antibiotic. Took it 4 days and only got worse so I called back and said I need a new med and chest xray. They told me to come back and happily took my copay. Then I waited in the back for the doctor to tell me they don't have an xray person at that location and I could drive 30 mins to another location. I was too sick to drive! So he gave me steroids and another antibiotic. Went to CVS to pick it up and the pharmacy told me there was a major interaction that could be fatal with another medication I take. Thank goodness the pharmacy caught it. I called back and spoke to the doctor who said, well it is rare that could happen. Thanks but no thanks! I will never go back to that idiot!!! read more

I recently went to this facility on a Friday afternoon because I was having burning in my chest and throat and chills and had been feeling bad on and off for three weeks. The doctor I saw there told me what I had based on the coughing she said she heard in the waiting room from me. She would not give me a Covid test, flu test and didn't even want to look at my throat. I left there with her telling me I had heartburn and maybe needed to go to the ER. The next morning I tested positive for covid , something she could have tested me for and told me that afternoon. It was the end of the day for them when I went and they didn't want to take any time with me. Even when I called the next day with my positive Covid test and asked for a medication to shorten the Covid they refused saying that "they don't do that". I will never go to this urgent care again, they don't care about people, just want to bill them and get them out. They close at 4 and I saw them turn away someone who came in at 3:30 because they close at 4???? They also make you scan a code and sit on your phone for 15 minutes filling out paperwork and taking pictures of your insurance card and drivers licenses etc. Don't waste your money or time going to see these doctors. read more

It's an awfully expensive copay to get a prescription for something I could buy over the counter. I much prefer the Willow Lawn location. I didn't really feel like I got great care at Short Pump. I won't be back. I just have to pay another copay tomorrow for my primary care doctor. read more

I am a ICU NP and started having symptoms of Covid 19. I tried to make an appointment at Better Med in Short pump beginning at 5am which is the earliest they take appointments; however, they were all full. I went to the location at 8am as soon as they opened (no one was in the waiting room yet) and asked them if I could get a covid test and explained the situation. They basically just said no. This is completely irresponsible of a healthcare establishment. I have symptoms and work with a vulnerable population and with Covid patients and they still refused me. Completely unacceptable. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I went to better med with lingering upper respiratory symptoms. Care was great and fast. Way better than other urgent care providers in the area. Staff was wonderful and knowledge. Facility was clean and well maintained. I did not feel like I was being pushed through there system to make their numbers look good. Therapy was started before I left. As a healthcare worker myself, I was truly impressed. Great care! read more
