If you’re…read moreselling, success means getting your property sold quickly and for the highest price possible. If you’re buying, it means finding your next dream home and getting into it, affordably. On top of that, if you’re like most of my satisfied customers, you also want everything to go smoothly, with as little stress as possible. How can you ensure all that happens? By working with a real estate agent who truly puts you first. I’m proud to be the real estate agent of choice for those who want a great experience buying or selling a home. My “clients-first” approach means that you’ll be working with a professional who listens to you, provides expert advice, and works hard on your behalf. Whether you’re buying or selling, it’s ultimately about realizing a dream. I understand how much the decision will mean to you. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I became a real estate agent – to help people buy or sell a home, while making the process easy and trouble-free. Clients often tell me how much they appreciate my expertise, my willingness to be there with them every step of the way, and my determination to get them the best deal. They also tell me I’m friendly and a pleasure to work with – which is quite a compliment!

The location is very convenient for house hunting in Southern and Western Wake Co. The parking lot has plenty of cool shade, a welcome novelty in the June heat. We worked with Claire McCullough so this review is mostly a reflection of her service. One of the reasons we ended up with Claire was her prompt and useful communication. We sent out a number of inquiries to agents all over the triangle in regards to specific properties and were generally disappointed with the quality of the responses. Some would reply quickly with little-to-no answers and others just wouldn't bother replying for days. Claire had actually just sold the property that we emailed her about but she immediately started asking us what we thought of a number of listings (most of which were not associated with Fonville Morisey) in an effort to establish a feel for our tastes and desires. We quickly chose a wide range of homes (in price, age, location and style) that we thought we might like and scheduled some time to see them. Before that date came we changed our mind several times and Claire never batted an eyelash (at least, if she did she never let us know). Claire helped us (or should I say, 'taught us how to) scrutinize every property very thoroughly and answered all of our questions about the implications of any issues. She made it very clear in everything she did that she was serving our best interest. Unfortunately, being motivated buyers with no idea what we wanted, we spent several days trying to cram in as many properties as possible. It was a miserable experience by design; so much so that I had to question myself for leaving a 5 star review for something we didn't exactly enjoy. Well, it was worth it for us in the end because Claire empowered us to see so many properties so that we could narrow our choices and negotiate a great price on a house that is so much better than anything we had imagined owning when we started sending out emails to random agents. My wife and I dealt with a lousy self-serving real estate agent years ago and it really made us dread finding another to work with. This agency and our agent really healed that wound.

I am writing this review to share my experience and to encourage prospective renters to ask…read moredetailed questions and get repair commitments in writing before signing a lease. On May 16, I toured a one-story home on Keith Street in Apex. I chose it because I have a daughter who uses a wheelchair, and moving from a two-story, 2,400-square-foot home in Fuquay to a smaller 1,300-square-foot one-story home seemed like a more accessible option for our family. Although the new home did not have a garage and required significant downsizing, the rent was comparable to my previous home, so I decided to move forward. Shortly after the tour, I was told that I needed to submit my deposit quickly because the agent I had been working with would be away for two weeks. Before I committed, I was assured that several necessary repairs and cleaning issues would be completed before move-in. These included sealing the attic access, removing items from and cleaning the attic, addressing an open window space, cleaning mold from the refrigerator, sealing the exterior door and dryer vent area, clearing exterior drainage, and addressing other maintenance concerns. I spent that time preparing for a major move, caring for and homeschooling my children, maintaining the yard, packing, and selling many of our belongings to fit into a much smaller home. However, one week before the scheduled move, NONE of the promised work had still not been completed. I raised my concerns, especially because the air conditioning had been turned off for an extended period and the property did not appear ready for occupancy. When I spoke with the agent after she returned, the conversation was extremely upsetting. Rather than helping address the accessibility and move-in concerns, I was told that if I had a disabled daughter, I should find another house, that I should get a house with a garage, and that I should pay a termination fee and move elsewhere. This interaction was deeply distressing to my family and made my daughter cry. By that point, I had already finalized my move and my previous home had been rented to someone else. On move-in day, only limited work appeared to have been done. I was asked to delay moving in by a day, and I turned on the electricity at the property after being told I would be reimbursed. Despite this, I moved into a home that still did not feel properly cleaned or move-in ready. Since moving in, there have been repeated visits from maintenance workers, the air-conditioning system has run for long periods without cooling the home properly, and the attic has still not cleared or cleaned. I still have belongings at a friend's house because I cannot use that space as expected. I have also been trying for over a month to have the fee for the delayed move-in day removed and to receive reimbursement for the electricity, but I have not received a resolution or response. I was also very concerned to receive a utility bill that was approximately 90% higher than the bill for my previous, much larger two-story home. Given the continuing air-conditioning concerns, this has created additional stress and expense. I have rented for 16 years and have worked with several professional property-management companies. In my experience, when repairs were needed, they were addressed promptly and communication was respectful. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. I hope the company will take these concerns seriously, improve its communication and move-in standards, and provide a timely resolution for the outstanding reimbursement and charges.
