My cat Buddy had some scary experiences at local area vets where they actually harmed him and he developed GI issues due to the stress of their insensitive handling, and he became terrified of vet visits. Luckily, I've discovered BetterVet mobile vets and they are awesome. Our current vet is Dr. Peter Gollub and he is wonderful! In addition to being a very smart & skilled vet, he's kind, patient, and understanding of my cat's nervousness. He and the staff he arrives with always take their time talking with us and going over any and all concerns, and he's very gentle and "calming" with Buddy. He's the only vet who was able to get Buddy to approach him to eat treats from his hand. Also, the online service is quick and easy to use, and I always get a response from them immediately when I use the online chat feature. Highly recommended! read more

I used Bettervet for the first time last month. I will say that the vet and vet tech that came were great but unfortunately the customer service after the fact was horrific. I was charged a duplicate fee and when I tried to find out what the charge was for I couldn't get anyone to return a call or give me an answer. I also tried to change a plan to a less expensive monthly plan through their wellness program. After making four phone calls and waiting a week I was forced to file a dispute with my credit card company. Beware of this company. Do not give your credit card better yet don't use this company at all! read more

This is unequivocally the worst vet I've ever been to and I would strongly encourage staying away. I used them in Sep 2022 and the whole experience caused me extreme stress. Below is detailed listing of everything that went wrong. 1. Website consistently shows wrong availability (named Doctor is not available, and the times are wrong), requiring follow up via phone every time 2. I had one visit in Sep 2022. They did not call to confirm the window the night before as promised during the booking, so I was surprised when they arrived the next day 3. During the visit, the assistant was unprofessional - disorganized, did not have a pen (I had to give her one), used my bathroom in the middle of the visit 4. The vet (Dr Gastrock) told me my two dogs had heart murmurs. No other vets had ever given this diagnosis. I have had my dogs seen by two vets since, no mention of heart murmur. This is a pretty serious misdiagnosis 5. When drawing blood from my dog for a titer test, Dr Gastrock and the assistant caused my dog to get so stressed out that he had diarrhea during the process. This has never happened to my dog before 6. After the visit, the assistant called me and tried to get my credit card number to charge me for the visit services without providing an invoice or even the total fee - I had to ask for this explicitly. It seemed really sneaky 7. When I did get the invoice, I was billed for $1,200 for a service (Titer test) that I knew based on previous experience should not cost more than $250. When I called them on it, they changed the price to $268. I was outraged that they tried to take advantage of me in this way 8. Despite this disaster of a first appointment I was going to use them for an international travel health certificate. This certificate must be issued 10 days before travel. My dogs' flight was changed to one day later, so I called BetterVet more than 24 hours in advance to change the appointment one day later (otherwise the travel certificate would not be valid). They told me I would be charged a $200 change fee. I was pretty upset since over 24 hours is plenty of notice and it was due to the flight schedule change, it would have been useless to get the travel certificate if keeping the original appointment time. The call center person refused steadfastly so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor "was in meetings all day" so unavailable to intervene. About 10 hours later I got a text message saying "of course" they would waive the change fee and change the appointment, but it was way too little and way too late 9. They make you enter your credit card number in the app and there's no way to remove it once in there, so I felt it necessary to call my credit card company to block BetterVet as I did not trust them and felt it was likely they would put unauthorized charges on my card I am posting this detailed review because no one should have to go through this experience. I chose BetterVet because their website comes up first in search results. When I wanted to use a another provider, I went to the ipata.org website, looked up the list of vets in Boston and called vets on this list and several had good availability (but just didn't come up in google search). A friend recommended BetterVet for a wellness check when my cat Nikko stopped eating. He had become quite weak and I did not wish to drag him out on difficult trip to the emergency room. Dr. Tyler-Murphy and her assistant Sam showed up to my apartment the following day; on time and well equipped. They also proved to be miracle workers. Nikko is a very difficult patient and extremely prone to biting and scratching if held against his will. No other veterinarian has ever successfully drawn blood from this cat. That said, Sam was amazing - calm and methodical in holding Nikko for the blood draw - while Dr. Tyler-Murphy got the job done. With some additional fluids, a shot of Cerenia, and an appetite stimulant Nikko was back on his feet and eating later that night. I can't thank both of these wonderful women enough - they were professional, compassionate and without a doubt, the best care givers Nikko and I have ever encountered. read more

This is a great service. Just had a physical exam this morning where, unfortunately, our cat reacted much more adversely than we expected, hissing and running and hiding. Despite this, Dr. Braught and Nurse Melisse handled the situation calmly and professionally, and successfully administered the exam. They were both extremely pleasant and friendly throughout. Afterwards, they told me how I could make the next visit easier and sent me a full report. Absolutely recommend this service, as I will be using it so long as it is in existence. My recently adopted/re-homed kitty is the anxious type & doesn't like to be handled or held. I was struggling to figure out how to get her to a vet for a check-up. I happily saw a recommendation (w/a coupon code!) for BetterVet via a Boston tweeter I have followed for years, and scheduled a video consult right away. Dr. Mandeville was very helpful & provided good advice, and was also able to prescribe (& send over) medication to help calm Violet before an in-person, in-home appt, which was easy to schedule in the app. Dr. M and her vet assistant ("V") were so great with (me &) my nervous kitty! Violet got a clean bill of health, all her vaccines, and even a nail trim - and aside from (typical) hiding for 10 minutes after they left, Violet wasn't traumatized (and neither was I). Also, the staff is very responsive via text, so I feel confident that I can reach someone quickly if needed. So glad to have found this business and these lovely, caring veterinary caregivers. I want to forewarn anyone looking to establish at-home care for their pet. This is just a fly-by night operation not looking to have that one on one relationship necessary to care for a sick pet. They use email f/u but don't respond until days later. The vets do not carry simple medications or simple supplements like B12 injections and they also do not have onboard equipment for ultrasounds or echocardiograms also misrepresented as being available on their 'mobile vans' . If your pet needs a specialist do not use these vets as they are not qualified. I was 'raped' for over $1000 on lab work and one f/u visit. The vet that came to my home was Dr. K. who cancelled an appt on me at the last hour because she was waiting to consult with another vet to assist he in how to proceed with my kitty. I had a geriatric sick kitty! I desperately was seeking a treatment plan for several issues and delaying his f/u did not help him one bit. On another note, BEWARE when you book appts the company takes your credit card info. I will warn you ahead that if a vet orders medication for your pet you will automatically be charged for this medication after the vet approves the order. You will have no way to review the order or cancel the order. YOU HAVE NO OPTION SHOULD YOU NEED TO CANCEL THE ORDER THEY JUT EMAIL YOU YOUR ORDER HAS SHIPPED!!! The online pharmacy that Boston Vet uses, I was told was an 'outside' pharmacy not affiliated with Boston Vet. They don't tell you this ahead of ordering which is disingenuous. After an order for medication was approved by Dr. K. my credit card information went directly to this 'outside' pharmacy WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION!!! Boston Vets Administrator named Kelsey told me she would INVESTIGATE this as she had no knowledge why this happened. The inquiry left me being billed for almost $100 on medications that were 'stock items' and unopened, but my cat couldn't take them any longer being a geriatric kitty and sick. All Boston Vet told me was they were very sorry...boo hoo Kelsey thanks for nothing!!! The online pharmacy nor Boston Vet wouldn't reimburse me for these items which is unacceptable and most upsetting was a flagrant unauthorized transaction of my credit/debit card information by Boston Vet. I told both businesses this was a complete violation of my personal information and I will pursue this with the Attorney General's Office in Massachusetts and report this. They knew what they were doing and completely cared less other than making their $$$$ including the vets that work at Boston Vet. They're well aware of making a quick buck and know the company and their protocols so don't tell me these people aren't being deceitful to people as well. PLEASE DONT USE THEM!!!!
