I just want to thank Dr Holt and everyone involved at Say Goodbye At Home. It's never an easy decision to let go of our companions and she made the process simple and as painless as possible. The professional and yet almost familiar way Dr Holt communicated with us put everyone at ease and facilitated the process for the whole family. Not only before and during the procedure, but checking in on us afterwards and sending her regards really made this more than a transaction and I will be forever grateful for that. Thank you to the whole team at SGAH

This is the only way. To have this being done at home is the best thing that I could have asked for. instead of the hospital your pet can go peacefully away in the comfort of your home. Furthermore, you can just TEXT her. When you don't want to physically talk about what's going on because it can be really hard to speak about it you can just text her from the start. It makes it so much easier. Dr. Holy literally took care of everything from the beginning all I had to do was be with my little buddy.

UPDATE: after posting this honest review, Dr. Holt sent an immediate snarky text to my mom and said, "not angry, but still writes a bad review. Thanks!" By the way, Dr. Holt, my mom and I are two different people. While my mom might not be as upset as me, that doesn't mean I am not upset. I wrote this review on my own accord. I was traumatized that day with everything I had to experience and I am STILL grieving. But in response to this honest review, you send a text to my mom (who is also grieving by the way), because you're upset about a review. You're still not very sympathetic, despite us going through an extremely tough time right now. I'm sorry if you were offended by our honest opinion and experience. Good luck to you and your future clients. Review: My old boy was suffering. Could not stand up, was not eating, was vomiting and in so much pain. I was home alone as my family had just left on vacation and I could not carry him to my car to take him to the vet (he was 75 lbs). I called and texted Dr. Holt. I told her the whole situation - that my dog was suffering and dying and needed care as soon as possible, because he did not have much time left. I was distraught and having an incredibly difficult time. After calling her and texting her, she texted me back. She told me she was booking out a week in advance and couldn't help me. I honestly felt no sincere, genuine compassion or concern. When I told her the whole situation and how my dog was suffering, I didn't feel true sympathy. Not even a real effort to connect me with another traveling vet when I asked. They just told me to go to their website. I understand schedules are busy. And I called Dr. Holt because I was reading great reviews about how she made time to come same day for other clients despite having a booked schedule. But sadly, I did not feel that same compassion extended to us. And it was not translated through the text messages. (Perhaps in the future, if a client calls and texts you multiple times, you can call back instead of text back. It just translates better and clearer.) When I called a local veterinary hospital, however, they were also booked solid that day. However, they still asked their entire staff to see if anyone could drive out to me. Because they were so busy in the clinic, nobody could come out to me, but they told me if I could get him there, they would absolutely make time to take care of him. I had to call the local police department to come and help me carry him to my car. In his last moments, I felt more compassion from an actual veterinary hospital than SGAH. Unfortunately, I will only have this experience to share with my friends and family if they ever have to make this terribly tough decision to put a beloved pet to sleep. I cannot in good conscience recommend Say Goodbye At Home. Instead, find a vet that is actually willing to go above and beyond, who truly loves animals enough to do everything they can to make sure they don't have to suffer for longer than they have to. Dr Holt deserves all the stars. As someone who has previously worked in the veterinary field, I knew the insides and outs of pet euthanasia, but never from the perspective of being the owner. When my beloved Chewy started going downhill, I dreaded the idea of making this decision. I created a very detailed and specific plan where I was going to go back to original vet (in NY, I live in MA now) so both he and I would be around all my previous coworkers and friends. Due to COVID19, our plans were ruined. I prayed that he would be able to live past this terrible time and continue with the plan, but the morning of 3/29/20, he made it clear to me that he was suffering. I spoke with Dr. Holt and she graciously found time during the same day to come and ease him from his suffering. Knowing what I know from working as a vet tech, it meant the world to me that she took measures that he was not only sedated, but without pain during the whole process. She assured me that she would treat his body with the upmost respect after his passing and that was one of my most pressuring concerns (for many people and vet clinics, this is NOT the case). As unplanned and upsetting as losing my baby was, I couldn't have asked for better.

My dog and best friend Rondo went from a healthy and handsome 100 pounds to 77 pounds in a few weeks do to 80% of liver failure. After discussing the options with my vet, a friend recommended at home end of life care and I contacted Dr. Susan Holt. She came to my house for a consultation and after going over the options again with her I decided euthanasia was the best option for my beloved Rondo. Dr. Holt handled the whole procedure with such grace and dignity even when two grown men broke out in tears she stayed and comforted my roommate and myself until the tears were gone. I still think of Rondo everyday but I am so happy he got to go at home in peace rather than at some animal hospital.

Dr. Susan Holt and staff were wonderful. She was extremely compassionate and explained everything that was happening. This was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but we were very happy with Dr. Holt. Our boy Lucy will be missed but he had 14 wonderful years.

    Thank you Terry & Michael

Just a complete lack of humanity in one of the most painful moments of my life. I wasn't asking for a favor--I was trying to give my pet of many years a peaceful, loving goodbye. The response I got made an already heartbreaking situation even worse. She was recommended by a local vet too!!! Horrible.

This week we had to make the hardest decision regarding our 16 year old Shepherd mix. He was clearly failing health wise, having breathing problems and could not walk or stand for more than a few minutes. We knew he had no quality of life and was suffering. We called Dr. Kennedy the day before and spoke about our boy and the decision we knew was inevitable and made the appointment. When she came to our home the next day she was kind, gentle and empathetic. She prepared us for the steps she would perform. My son and I stayed with him, loving in him and telling him how much we love him. Within 10 minutes it was over. He went to heaven to run and play with his best friend Diamond who passed in her sleep six months earlier. This was the worst decision we had to make but Dr. Kennedy walked through it with us and we are forever grateful to have been able to allow our boy to go to rest at home.

Always waiting for me by the front door, always purring in my arms, and always giving me her love. Her time came relatively quickly (within about two weeks) and I wasn't going to force her to endure being put into a carrier and taken to the Vet's Office, afraid, in her final hour. I just couldn't do that to her. She trusted me. I was given a referral for Dr. Kennedy and I'm so glad I reached out. Dr. Kennedy was kind, suggested ways to mediate Pebbles pain, offered cremation, gave me options for an urn, and was both empathetic and, frankly, very sweet. She helped Pebbles to transition as peacefully as possible, giving me time with her and I was holding her as she passed, laying in my bed (instead of a sterile, stainless steel exam table, with dogs barking in the background). When Pebbles finished transitioning, Dr. Kennedy wrapped Pebbles in a blanket, with respect and love, and took her to be cremated for me. Her kindness and sympathy were wonderful and very helpful for my experience. The cost for in-home euthanasia is obviously higher that taking your pet to the Vet, but worth every penny. Considering the love they gave you throughout their lives, how can you consider exposing your loved companion to fear in their last hours ? I would completely recommend Dr. Kennedy. She was wonderful.

This past weekend, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our cat, Kiki, to sleep after a long battle with her illness. Kiki hated veterinary clinics, and near the end of her life she had been to several. We wanted her final moments to be peaceful, at home, free from the stress of her carrier or the sterile environment of an animal hospital. Dr. Hayes responded to my inquiry immediately: a phone call, a voicemail, a text, and an email with thoughtful resources and her availability. When we finally spoke about Kiki's condition, she was calm, compassionate, and professional. She walked us through every option and was transparent about pricing from the start. What also set Dr. Hayes apart was her availability over the weekend, something that is genuinely difficult to accommodate and not something every provider offers. Her flexibility during what is already an impossibly hard time is noteworthy and deeply appreciated. The day itself was one of the hardest our family has faced, but Dr. Hayes brought a quiet, somber grace to it that was genuinely comforting. She was extremely patient with us, never once making us feel rushed, and gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes to Kiki, something that meant more than words can express. As someone who works in medicine myself, I was especially moved by the care and respect she showed Kiki's body after she passed, it did not go unnoticed. She was also wonderfully gentle with our 10-year-old and with Kiki's brother Mason, who wanted to be there to say goodbye. I highly recommend Dr. Hayes to any family navigating this painful decision. Her compassion, professionalism, and flexibility make her exactly the kind of vet you need by your side in those final moments. We are so grateful she exists and does this work. If you are facing this impossibly hard decision, you could not be in more caring hands.
