I love when you walk in you are greeted with the 100 Banned Books to peruse through. I love a business that highlights banned books, as all booksellers should be doing this year. Although I felt like the selection was limited, I wasn't upset with this store. It just took me a little longer to find a book to purchase. I loved all the knickknacks (stickers, bags, etc) they had to shop from. The kind bookseller was helpful when I asked for help. She was completely open to offering suggestions, but I felt capable of finding something else. She was extremely kind and engaging with the few patrons that were in the store. Since I this was my first time here, I was taking it all in. The kid section was really cute and the layout is easy to shop. I enjoyed the staff picks and layouts of the different sections. They are on the smaller side, so I wouldn't expect to show up and find every single top book on the market. But there are PLENTY that I found enjoyable and enough to purchase two books! I had seen the storefront many, many times over my years coming to town but had never gone inside so I popped in with her. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. They're a teeny shop but they have a really wonderfully curated collection of crystals and rocks, both small and some as big as the whole of your hand. There's also a fairly large selection of incense and oils, jewelry and decorative objects, books, and even a small amount of clothing. My cousin recently participated in her first craft fair selling her handmade jewelry and she dropped a nice chunk of her earnings here on some really beautiful stones for her collection! If you're into the metaphysical or just want some lovely things to smell or look at, be sure to pop in and visit them! I was told by an employee or perhaps the owner that one of the books we wished to purchase was "rare" and therefore $75. It was written on and the edges slightly rolled. I found it, same edition, better condition on eBay for $10. Another had the special edition pages and she said "you won't find this anywhere. They only come out with these ONCE! this is a steal" $50- So I hopped back on eBay and found it for $20 in like new condition. We did buy other books it's a cute shop. But I felt like I was being led on and given false information just so someone could make a sale. We will not be back.

The first thing I noticed upon walking into the store was the shop dog, Tommy! He is a gentle giant, a big fluffy golden retriever who was happy to receive some pets from me and my friend's five year old. Inside the store, there is a cute kids area with fun paintings on the walls, stuffed animals, and small chairs for kids to sit while they check out some books. I was more interested in looking at new releases, but this bookstore seemed laid out a bit differently and instead of having all new releases on display in the front, they had some children's books and other picks in the main display near the entrance. I found the cookbook section right away and was really happy with the selection there. They had a bunch of different cookbooks I'd never seen before, which was fun to browse. The store has other gifts and games and fun houseware items, including several locally made things which I thought was great. The owner working was helpful to my friend who was looking for a Beatrix Potter book. They didn't have it in stock but I'm sure they could order it. They have a rewards program which is great if you buy a lot of books! The other nice part about Epilogue Books is their little reading area with beverages and coffee. I don't live nearby but if I did, this would definitely be my go-to bookstore.
