Great selection! We arrived right at opening time and were greeted as the lights were coming on... first pick of the day! :) The space is similar to used book stores - lots going on, books tucked everywhere... it was perfect! The display in the front was of banned books, so we were thrilled to find a few to add to our collection! After asking about the Spanish options we were guided down the stairs and WOW - a whole other land of options existed... so many books to look through, we could have spent the whole day! The best. Top-of-the-line service. I don't know where Redux finds its books: I received a paperback printed in 1968 that was, except for that unavoidable old book smell, virtually in mint condition. Fast shipping, low prices, great selection: it's enough to make me wish I lived in Grand Rapids, so that I could visit the Redux store instead of ordering a book from them online. Pure Michigan. I went to Redux Books hoping they weren't woke. Well I was wrong!!!!!! They have a mess of books in their store widow like "This Land in Their Land" "This Book is Anti-Rascist" and other books like that. And their books are SUPER EXPENSIVE!!!!! If you want some good, not to expensive books you should order over the phone or go in person to Beloved Books in Linden, MI. And the bookstore next to Redux Books, Argos Bookstore is very work also. read more

I like this place, good eclectic selection of used bookstores and some are valuable antiques. Good place to browse, no pressure, helpful staff. I'm guessing some of their customers are overeducated types because there are some scholarly books in here which I also like. Some of the negative reviews here do seem to come from people who don't read, which makes you kind of wonder why they came here. You do have to be careful in Michigan walking around with certain kinds of banned books, if you know what I mean. Since I already look like I don't belong I've learned to use plain brown paper covers for my books when reading in a public place. Great used bookstore with awesome customer service! I called recently and spoke with the owner (who was very friendly btw) about a particular book title. He let me know that he knew of the book and has seen it come through before but it was not currently in stock. Unbeknownst to me he must have noted the title and my phone number and lo and behold the book came through a few days later and he called me! I was thrilled at his customer service and very happy to be getting the book I wanted and from a local business. Win - win! :) Give em' a try next time you are looking for a book! read more

I had been wanting to go in to this place for a long time, and I finally had a chance today. I love used book shops and this one was no exception. The setup of the store was fun and the selection of books was great. However, my experience was soured when I went to check out. I do not normally carry a purse, so I had my cards in my pocket. I asked to make sure they take cards and pulled it out--after a little struggle with my pocket. She looked at me skeptically and said "you didn't just steal that this morning did you?" I was taken aback and immediately said no. "Are you sure?" Yes I am sure. I was so startled by the question that I didn't know how to respond. I thought about offering my ID. It was quite presumptuous and rude of her to question me in that way. I understand if you have suspicions, but couldn't you have just asked to see my ID? That is a relatively normal business practice anyway when someone is paying with a card. That I would have respected. But asking me if I stole the card simply because I took it out of my pocket? I don't like carrying a purse. Simple explanation. Now I know that there is really no reason for me to visit that store again. I can have friendlier service at any other used book store--including the one only a few doors down. read more

This store is amazing. They really highlight their harder to find books, and they have a very wide selection of autographed copies. It's also has a very nice old book smell. All the books are organized by category at least. Reasonably priced as well, I was able to get four books for $45. read more

Not only the best used bookstore in Grand Rapids, but one of the best in the country. The selection is very well curated with hard to find copies of great books and Clarence is one of the last small bookstore owners who truly cares about what makes a used bookstore so special...the books. I really enjoyed this place, me and my friend rode our bikes to check out Argos Bookshop and Redux Books. Eventually, my friend purchased a book by Edgar Allen Poe from Redux Books which was six dollars, we went to check it out as we carried our helmets and the man ringing us up (which I presume to be the owner) told us that he'd make it five dollars simply for wearing our helmets. Anyways, the employees and/or owner, the location, and the selection are astounding. read more

Best used bookstore in Grand Rapids - in terms of selection, price, and hospitality. I've gone here for years and love it because the owner has a sense of humor and has been established in Grand Rapids for decades. The range of literature is greater than any other book store in GR, and organized quite well. read more
