Need a good read for the holiday weekend? Weather you're heading up North or staying home, Argos Book Shop can help! ⁣ ⁣ Argos is a new & used book shop in Eastown. It's also the oldest and largest book shop in Grand Rapids! This place is BIG. I still can't believe the amount of books in this place! ⁣ ⁣ They carry everything from children's books, to cookbooks, comics, vintage magazines, rare first editions, and even local yearbooks! There is a book for everyone here. ⁣ ⁣ Argos has friendly staff members that can perform books searches and reserve a book for you too!⁣ ⁣ And hey! They offer educator and student discounts too! ⁣

My favorite used book store worldwide. Decades ago, it was my go to place for searching for comics that I couldn't locate at Fanfare or elsewhere. Going to Argos proved that Time is Relative, because the hours I spent in there searching the stacks for desired issues felt like mere minutes. The last time I was in there I was on the search for a paperback copy of Doc Savage's "The Thousand Headed Man," by Kenneth Robeson. I had heard the radio dramatization by NPR (now to be found in the Internet Archive) and I wanted to check out the pulp novel. I couldn't find it anywhere. But Argos had it. A fantastical place.

I've never gone wrong with purchasing a gift here and I definitely will come back. They even have a punch card for loyalty which is amazing. Parking is a little tough since it's right on Monroe Center and street parking but I haven't had a big issue. I'm a huge fan overall and encourage people to stop in if they haven't!

I especially adored the staff recommendations. They don't just point you toward the next comic -- they link you to stories and media across genres (seriously, the "if you like Heated Rivalry, you might love..." picks are brilliant), making discovering new reads feel like a friendly conversation with someone who really gets you. Whether you're a regular or just popping in out of curiosity (like me), this is the kind of shop that makes you want to linger -- and definitely come back.

If you bring in their flyer you receive $2 off your purchase which is a great way to get people in the door. They not only sell all the nerdy things, but you can sell to them as well. The walls of Rabbit Hole Comics are lined with beautiful posters and most of them are for sale (a few aren't but they don't have prices on them so that should have been my clue before asking). They also have a large selection of action figures, stuffed animals, movies on dvd as well as VHS, toys, kids books that sorta teeter on being comics (like Captain Underpants or Dog Man), and trading cards. As far as the Comics go, I feel like I could have sifted through the box's for at least two hours. I loved being able to look around and enjou myself on a day like today. My husband did end up not only selling some items to the shop but also ended up picking some stuff up in a "instead of cash, I want this item for what I sold" type of deal. I can see us coming back to this store frequently, even if I am only tagging along to say hello to the two adorable puppers in the store.

Just look for the smoldering visage of Luke Perry on the wall, and you'll find it. Other than a poster of my fifth grade television crush, you'll find mostly street wear at Rewind. I don't want to say "boy clothes," because it's boring to gender clothing, but they mostly sell masculine-leaning things like jerseys, graphic tees and men's denim. The clothing sizes start at about a men's small and go up from there, so I didn't find anything that would have fit me properly, but my oldest son saw some things that he liked and fit him. This store is definitely geared toward boys and men (but I did not see anything Boyz II Men-related in the store, unfortunately). Inexplicably, you'll also find VHS tapes here. Lots of them. I guess they go with the theme: Rewind! Get it? I don't recall how much they cost, but if you're in the market for a video tape of The Santa Clause, you're in luck because Rewind has two copies.

I love when you walk in you are greeted with the 100 Banned Books to peruse through. I love a business that highlights banned books, as all booksellers should be doing this year. Although I felt like the selection was limited, I wasn't upset with this store. It just took me a little longer to find a book to purchase. I loved all the knickknacks (stickers, bags, etc) they had to shop from. The kind bookseller was helpful when I asked for help. She was completely open to offering suggestions, but I felt capable of finding something else. She was extremely kind and engaging with the few patrons that were in the store. Since I this was my first time here, I was taking it all in. The kid section was really cute and the layout is easy to shop. I enjoyed the staff picks and layouts of the different sections. They are on the smaller side, so I wouldn't expect to show up and find every single top book on the market. But there are PLENTY that I found enjoyable and enough to purchase two books! Small town charm, but make it books!
